Tapas time on today's London fix – a double act. We begin in Smithfield with the redoubtable Jonathan, guiding us through London's old killing ground, where the condemned met gruesome ends. Then David takes up the thread – from the execution ground to the digital gallows. The former Duke of York has been “unduked”; online the dead are “unalived”; the countryside is “UnLondon.” Welcome to the Age of Un – a wry look at our binary, reversible century, where everything can be done, undone, and done again.
Welcome to the latest chapter of Spanish Loops, a mouth watering splash into tapas culture in the south of Spain. In this episode we trace tapas from humble tavern lids to a national obsession: the legends (from King Charles III “bite with your wine” tale to seaside slices that kept sand out of drinks), the social rituals, and how small plates became thesocial glue of Andalusian nights. We explain the layered history and regional variations that make tapas more than food. They're edible stories that foldculture, politics and conviviality into every tiny plate.Granada earns a special episode length spotlight: often called a tapas paradise, bars in Granada famously still serve complimentary small plates with many drinks, creating a bar crawl culture where each stop feels like a mini feast and surprise. We profile classic Granada bites and sit down with local hosts to map the best barrios for free tapas and unforgettable pairings. Jaén and the olive-oil rich provinces get their due: from rustic montaditos topped with local aceite to jewel-like frituras, tapas here pair perfectly with a couple of cold beers or a glass of local wine, the kind of place where a short stop becomes an evening. We also unpack tapas' disputed origins: from medieval “covers” to royal edicts, and why tapas evolved as both practical and political fare across centuries.Expect immersive scenes: clinking glasses, sizzling plate sounds, the whisper of olive oil, and locals teaching you to order like a pro: “una caña y una tapa”, while the hosts debate their favourite hidden bars. The narrative balances history and travel tips so listeners learn where to taste, how to order, and which tapas pair best with beer or a young red. Perfect for food-loving travelers, culture curious listeners… Buen apetito Amigos!!

What does it mean to live a life with purpose or dharma?Beyond symptom management, Ayurveda and Yoga point us toward transformation. A connection to spirit that sustains true health. In this episode, host Myra Lewin explores three foundational practices of dharmic living: yagna (sacred offering), daan (generosity and circulation), and tapas (discipline and transformation). These are daily practices that shift our intention from self-fixing to self-offering and help us let go of the idea we're broken and need to be fixed in the first place.Through personal stories and reflections, Myra shares how these practices reshape our relationship to food, resources, discipline, and devotion — opening the doorway to our eternal Self.In this episode, you'll discover:Why Ayurveda and Yoga are about transformation, not just symptom reliefHow yagna turns simple routines into sacred offeringsThe deeper meaning of daan as generosity of heart, knowledge, and presenceHow tapas strengthens your inner fire for sustainable growthWhy all three together create lasting joy, balance, and connection that help us growPerfect for anyone ready to move beyond “band-aid” approaches to healing and embrace the fullness of Ayurveda and Yoga as a path of service and spirit.Ready to bring Ayurveda into your life - and guide others do the same?Join our free wisdom session with Myra Lewin on October 1 at 8 p.m. (Bali time). You'll learn our simple framework to become an Ayurvedic Health Counselor without uprooting your life to India and explore how your healing journey can become a path of service. Thanks for tuning in to the Everyday Ayurveda and Yoga at Hale Pule podcast. If people know one thing about Sherry, they usually think they don't like it. But Daniel Azarkman likes it so much he opened El Lopo, a San Francisco tapas bar dedicated to sherry and its equally underappreciated cousin, vermouth. Daniel sits down with Greg and Sother to talk about introducing guests to unfamiliar ingredients, the guided tours he leads to Spain, and a program he runs for select regulars, who trust Daniel enough to just pour and serve them whatever he wants.Plus, Greg and Sother have been traveling the country and might have a bead on a new trend: cheese in cocktails. Apologies for the audio quality; I'm working on fixing it. Thanks for your patience.Today, we explore the 3rd chakra, Manipura, meaning “city of jewels.” Located at the solar plexus, it governs self-definition, confidence, and personal power. Associated with fire, it fuels digestion, metabolism, and transformation—Agni. The bija mantra is RAM, its colour is yellow, and its sense organ is sight, representing vision and illumination (Tejas).Fire in yoga, or Tapas, creates positive change through disciplined action and intention. Imbalances manifest as rajasic dominance (control, aggression) or tamasic weakness (low self-esteem). A balanced state, or sattva, fosters vitality, confidence, and wise action.Manipura's ten-petal lotus represents overcoming negative tendencies like fear, shame, and ignorance, replacing them with strength, compassion, and clarity. Its symbol, a downward triangle, signifies transformation. The ram embodies courage and determination.Let's connect with our power and purpose.
Fewer Young Americans Reaching Major Adulting MilestonesSome people never want to grow up and according to new research from the U.S. Census Bureau, fewer young adults are hitting milestones related to adulthood. It turns out, there's been a dramatic shift in how many young people in the country are reaching major life events, like moving out of their parents' house, getting married and having a child.Back in 1975, nearly half of all Americans between the ages of 25 and 34 had done these things, but today, less than a quarter have.⠀The 12-3-20 WorkoutA fitness trend that went viral on social media with more than 14-million views may actually do what it says, new research suggests. The 12-3-30 treadmill workout took off on TikTok. It claims that walking at a 12% incline, at a pace of three miles per hour, for 30 minutes is a fat-burning, low-impact fitness fix. A new study puts it to the test, comparing results to “self-paced” treadmill running. In the study, young adults did two workouts, one round of 12-3-30 and one session of running at a pace they could keep up for 20 to 25 minutes. The workouts were adjusted to burn the same number of calories and running burned calories faster, about 13 calories per minute compared to 10 calories per minute for the 12-3-30.That's because calories are burned faster with a higher intensity workout, like running. What's interesting is that the 12-3-30 workout used more fat as a fuel source - 41% of energy came from fat, while 33% did during running. The Little Kid Things Adults Won't Stop DoingRedditors are spilling the “little kid” things they still do even though they're adults, and you may just want to start doing them, too."Every single time I go to Target, I have to walk down the Lego aisle. I don't even buy them, I just like to look at the big, complicated sets and imagine building them.""Watching cartoons. As an adult living in today's world, I just need a break from reality and want something funny and innocent.""Buying dino nuggets. I'm a legal adult who can cook actual food, but sometimes you just have a bad day and the only cure is dinosaur-shaped chicken.""Rainbow sprinkles on my ice cream. They look so cheerful and I like the crunch. Chocolate sprinkles are not an acceptable substitute. I want every color of food dye or no deal.""Coming home with cool-looking rocks in my pockets.""Driving by farm animals and saying their names out loud. 'Hi, cows!' 'Horses!' 'Have a nice day, goatie goats!'"Second Date UpdateAndre calls about Nicole. They went for Tapas and now she has ghosted. What happened during dinner?

Chang Kim—friends call him CK—sold his company Tapas for more than $500 million and walked away without an earn-out. Instead of jumping into his next venture, he did something few founders have the nerve to do: he took a year off. In this episode of Built to Sell Radio, CK opens up about what life looks like when work becomes a choice, not a requirement. From cross-continental travel to difficult conversations with his kids about wealth, this is a rare, candid look at what happens after the wire hits.
