The Sumerian myth of Inanna is one of the touchstones in this beautiful work, and I'm grateful to Kelli for taking the time to talk with me about the making of the album, her engagement with Inanna, and our collective transformation."What I hope that this album does is brings solace and inspiration, and holds people's hands through their ears to say it's worth the risk. It's worth the risk of dying in all of its forms. Because even when what is on the other side isn't what you thought it was going to be, it's so much better."-- Kelli ScarrThanks for listening and keep the mystery in your life alive...Support the showEmail Catherine at drcsvehla@mythicmojo.comPost a positive review on apple podcasts! Song: Get Up Music by: Barbara McAfee Additional vocals by: Lia Falls   Notes: Barbara McAfee describes herself as "A nice Minnesota girl -- I like things that work!" -- and in her framework of the Full Voice, she has shaped the teachings of skilled choir leaders and the Roy Hart vocal work, as well as her own discovery of her voice into just that -- a framework that works! She says, “I've never believed more in the need for people to find their own voice…” and observes the deep courage of people coming to community sings for the first time after vocal wounding. The work of Angeles Arrien inspired Barbara in her own journey, and this song pulls in the grittiness and determination needed to keep waking up. Barbara adds a surprise bonus song in the middle of the episode -- "May It Go Easy As You Go" -- as we talk about singing as a way of saying what's hard to say. So much more in this conversation -- "twisting on a meathook", scheduling "workity-work" things, doing laundry before listening to the muse -- enjoy Barbara's Full Voice, and let it help you find yours!   Songwriter Info: Barbara lives on the wild and scenic St Croix River about an hour from Minneapolis/St Paul. She is a master voice coach, songwriter, song leader, hospice choir director, long distance swimmer, poet, and author of Full Voice. It is a deep and profound honor to welcome my teacher, Shannon Port, onto the podcast, who shares generously with us about the path of the true Divine Feminine. This episode is not to be missed and is a potent stream specifically for our listeners. In our conversation, Shannon shares how she came into this work from an early age, the unfolding of her life's work and magnum opus, and how this path has been one of leaning way in to relationships, love, heartbreak, and living and learning all of it.She makes important distinctions between the feminine and masculine spiritual paths (honoring all of it), and brings this work squarely back to relationships of the heart.Shannon Port has been teaching and sharing with the world a profound body of Feminine Archetypal Wisdom for the past two decades through the Divine Feminine Wisdom Teachings in Light Body Yoga and Light Body Woman. Art of the Feminine is a Cosmic Feminine Stream received by a true Female Initiate who has been working in the frequency of the Goddess since birth. Shannon has lived these Mysteries and has traveled the deep feminine path of Goddess Initiation, working closely with the Divine Feminine Spiritual Hierarchies, to restore and regenerate The Inner Mysteries of Divine Love on Earth. Through her heart and her Word, she shares this transmission as her soul's mission. The work here has been lived, tasted and fully integrated and digested. It is beyond sacred and holds the Divine Feminine Impulse for the coming Age of Venus and The Goddess Epoch. In this episode, Shannon covers:- the trajectory of her life's work since childhood- her embodied initiations, and the path of the solar feminine- why spiritual growth is about alchemy, not bypassing - especially within love and sexuality- why the feminine mysteries have been left out and are a critical missing piece- how the woman's heart is the mothership that births, sustains, and redeems life- why Shannon's work is an expression of a living lineage—not theory, but transmission through embodimentI can't wait for you to listen. In this episode, we go deeper into the ancient feminine power they tried to bury. Before patriarchy rewrote the narrative, women were seen as sacred. Goddesses like Inanna, Hathor, Lilith, Aphrodite, Oshun, and Shakti weren't just symbols, they represented fertility, sensuality, leadership, wisdom, and divine authority. But over time, their stories were distorted or erased altogether. This episode is a reminder that your power has ancient roots. We're not reclaiming anything new, we're remembering what they tried to make us forget.

Her myth illuminates the sacredness of embodied experience and the transformative power of creative union, and challenges traditional dichotomies between spirit and matter.  Inanna invites us to reconsider the sacred through the lens of wholeness, integration, and reverence for life in all its forms.Support the showEmail Catherine at drcsvehla@mythicmojo.comPost a positive review on apple podcasts! In this episode of Gatherings, we welcome writer and mythic guide Carly Mountain, author of Descent and Rising. Together, we explore the ancient Sumerian myth of Inanna, a powerful narrative of descent, embodiment, and feminine transformation. Carly shares how the myth mirrored her own personal journey and why it continues to speak to modern women facing burnout, identity shifts, or creative rebirth. We explore the myth's cultural resurgence, its symbolic contrast to artificial intelligence, and its call to reclaim erotic intelligence, surrender, and embodied wisdom. Carly reframes surrender not as weakness but as the courage to meet what's real—and sees descent not as failure, but as the doorway to collective healing. For those navigating inner thresholds, this episode may serve as both map and medicine. For more information about Carly's book and workshops: Writer, Psychotherapist and Women's Initiatory Guide.

Dr. Hill shares his early transformative encounters with LSD in 1967, which, though initially ecstatic, devolved into psychologically traumatic events. These experiences led him on a lifelong journey of self-exploration, academic inquiry, and healing.  Scott shares his journey very openly with Dr. T and they discuss how Scott's return to academia in Cailfornia, studying under Stan Grof and Ralph Metzner, deepened his understanding of his own experiences. They examine how Jung's concepts of the collective unconscious and archetypes reflect in intense psychedelic states. Scott details how key reading, Holotropic Breathwork, a medicine circle. and an MDMA-assisted therapy session at Burning Man, and MDMA-assisted therapy all helped heal his ongoing flashbacks.  Dr. T and Scott Hill share a deep and revelatory conversation, at the end of which Scott expresses gratitude for the path he was forced onto in spite of how painfully it began. He describes writing and academic research as transformative tools and identifies scholarship as a spiritual practice in its own right. “Confrontation with the Unconscious: Jungian Depth Psychology and Psychedelic Experience”, Dr. Hill's book, is now foundational in psychedelic psychotherapy circles, and his insights are key to understanding much about psychedelic psychology. “As I read about the myths of Gilgamesh, Inanna,, Job and Christ, I was struck by the resonance between passages in those myths and my difficult psychedelic experiences. Given the Jungian view that myths are expressions of the archetypal unconscious, and given the resonance I experienced reading those myths, I started to wonder whether my terrifying trips, and perhaps those of others, might be understood, in Jung's words, as experiences of an archetypal nature.” - Scott Hill About Scott Hill:Scott J. Kelli shares about the magic and mystery of her residency in Crete, how the voices of Odeya Nini and members of the Threshold Choir appeared to lend magic to the album, and we listen to three songs - "Knowing is the Call," "The Yes that Leads," and "Aphrodite" - as we meander through the myth of Inanna and how transformation happens to us..."she's not dying, she's flying free."Hudson Valley audiences will have an exclusive opportunity to preview Greater Mysteries before the rest of the world. On April 16th, Kelli is hosting Lesser Mysteries at Unicorn Bar in Kingston. The special preview event will feature an impressive lineup of local and national talent and offer attendees a unique opportunity to witness the early stages of what will become a larger, Greater Mysteries immersive cave experience scheduled for fall 2025.https://www.viewcy.com/e/lesser_mysteriesHere's Kelli's recommendation to Leah Thau's Podcast, Strangers.Today's show was engineered by Ian Seda from Radiokingston.org.Our show music is from Shana Falana!Feel free to email me, say hello: she@iwantwhatshehas.org** Please: SUBSCRIBE to the pod and leave a REVIEW wherever you are listening, it helps other users FIND IThttp://iwantwhatshehas.org/podcastITUNES | SPOTIFYITUNES: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/i-want-what-she-has/id1451648361?mt=2SPOTIFY:https://open.spotify.com/show/77pmJwS2q9vTywz7Uhiyff?si=G2eYCjLjT3KltgdfA6XXCAFollow:INSTAGRAM * https://www.instagram.com/iwantwhatshehaspodcast/FACEBOOK * https://www.facebook.com/iwantwhatshehaspodcast

In episode 485 astrologer Elly Higgins joins the show to discuss the 8-year repetitions of Venus retrograde in Aries and how they tie into queer history over the past century. In this episode we start with the Venus retrograde in Aries of 1905, and then work our way forward in 8 year increments, discussing how important moments and turning points in queer history keep coinciding with this retrograde. In the process we ended up finding a bunch of repetitions, many of which give insight into the Venus retrograde that we are currently living through today. Elly is the host of Star Gays: The Queer Astrology Archives Podcast, and you can find more information here: https://ellyhiggins.com https://stargaysastrology.ghost.io This episode is available in audio and video versions below. This podcast was recorded in January 2025 for the Super Conductors of Love free summit facilitated by Martha Alter Hines and Cayelin Castell. To join in the closing ceremony March 30th, use this link: https://www.livingtheonelight.com/sup... This podcast incorporates the Venus journey at the end of March 2025 and her conjunction with Neptune (the higher octave of Venus) and the Mars opposition with Pluto (the higher octave of Mars). I speculate in this video about how Ereshkigal, in the myth of Inanna, may be represented by the asteroid Persephone and, in my later, more recent video published in March 2025, by the asteroid Ceres. Let me know your thoughts on this! All of these points represent aspects of this split between Inanna and Ereshkigal and the division of the Great Goddess archetype. In this podcast, Heather discusses the powerful shifts happening in these last few weeks of March and in particular the unique and extraordinary time in the Venus cycle that is guiding us into healing and transformation to move into higher consciousness. Corrections/clarifications: the oral tradition of the story of Inanna most likely dates back to 2500-3000 BCE, but the cuneiform texts discovered date closer to 2100-2000 BCE. Also, the image of the precessional cycle and Yuga cycle is an integration of Bibhu Dev Misra's research on the Yuga cycle and my research on the precessional cycle and is in my upcoming book. We welcome back Professor Michael York to discuss Canaanite Gods. This includes the Israelites, Akkadians, Babylonians, and others. Due to proximity, we venture a bit into Sumeria, Egypt, Vedic India and beyond. We even touch upon Hittites, Minoans and Sea Peoples. But it's mostly Yahweh versus Ba'al with a dash of Inanna and Ashura, and other easy to pronounce names. Along the way we discuss soime recurring themes like evil baby eating Gods to matriarchal godheads versus patriarchal godheads. Somewhere along the line, Margorie Taylor Green came up. Oh my! Anyway, you don't want to miss this regional Gods discussion, which had earlier roots and ramifications that continue today. And I wasn't crazy about AI and translation. In Garden Inventories: Reflections on Land, Place and Belonging (Wolsak and Wynn, 2023), author Mariam Pirbhai looks carefully at the pocket of land she has called home in Southern Ontario for the past seventeen years, which she notes is a milestone for her, and asks how long it takes to be rooted to a place? And what does that truly mean? Seeing the landscape around her with the layered experience of a childhood spent wandering the world, Pirbhai shares her efforts to create a garden and understand her new home while encouraging others to do reconsider the land on which they live, and how they treat it. The result is a delightful collection of essays that invites the reader to see the beautiful complexity of the land around us all in a new way. Send Us a Message!Curious about how the winter solstice can guide you through reflection and renewal? In this episode, we illuminate the spiritual significance of embracing the longest night of the year as a powerful time for transformation and balance. Learn how turning inward and confronting our shadow aspects can actually awaken our inner light and facilitate healing. Christine shares a guided meditation designed to help process and release emotions, restoring harmony during this sacred season. Join us as we navigate the depths of solstice symbolism, drawing intriguing parallels to mythological journeys such as Inanna's descent into the underworld. We explore the importance of shedding superficial layers to uncover our true, authentic selves and discuss how this process of transformation mirrors the Phoenix rising from the ashes. This season offers a unique opportunity to reflect on what no longer serves us and to embrace perceived flaws as strengths, setting the stage for growth and renewal when the light returns. In our exploration of personal experiences with the winter solstice, we emphasize the need for individual reflection and self-awareness. While some may find this season stressful and filled with consumerism, others discover a time of rest, creativity, and inspiration. By balancing activity with moments of quiet reflection, we are encouraged to assess our needs and release preconceived notions. Whether you seek solitude or engage in social festivities, find what truly nourishes you during this time and make space for your own unique interpretations of the solstice's energy.Moon Rising Shamanic Institute Links:Website: https://moonrisinginstitute.com/Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/moonrisinginstituteFacebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/moonrisingmysticsInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/moonrising.instituteYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@moonrisinginstituteBook a session with Isabel: https://calendly.com/into-the-deep/scheduleBook a FREE 15 minute connect call with Izzy: https://calendly.com/moonrisinginstitute/connect Book a session with Christine: https://calendly.com/christinerenee/90-minutes-intensiveBook a FREE 10 minute connect call with Christine: https://calendly.com/christinerenee/10-minute-connect-call-srpt

Success in our goals, our careers, our lives is of course, valuable and important. But…what happens when we start to overly identify with success or symbols of status? How does this end up blocking up from our goals and holding us back from transformation?   We explore all of this and more in today's episode where we unpack a piece of the Myth of Inanna's Descent - one of my favorite all time myths!   It's a deep and layered exploration - part storytelling, part introspection, part looking at how we help our clients….even mixed in with a public service announcement or two from me! (I get pretty passionate about some things!).   In this episode you'll learn about:   ⇒ the power of mythology and how it can help you in your life => Inanna's Descent (one of the oldest stories out there!) ⇒ what happens when we cling to worldly success and symbols of power & respect ⇒ why it's important to make the metaphoric journey to the Underworld ⇒ 3 of the 4 Sacred Depths pillars, and which skills you need to help clients unpack messaging that has seeped in through culture   I revisit the myth of Inanna's Descent every single year for myself - that's how important it is. I hope you'll find it as meaningful and rich as I do!   _________________   If you've been wanting to take your coaching & transformational skills to the next level - and to grow your business in organic ways through referrals, renewals and creating a stellar reputation for yourself - please join us for The Sacred Depths Transformational Practitioner Certification.   The cohort & community that is coming together for our start at the end of October is phenomenal, and it is my best and favorite way to help you create the client work and business that you deserve to have.   You can learn more here.   And you can access the free How to Work with Shadow ebook here!
