Welcome to "The Bible in Today's World", the show that compares today's world with the Word of God. In general and specifically, are we following the Bible in our daily walks? Is society demanding that we follow the Word of God in all that we do? Does our Almighty Father look upon us and frequently say, "Well done, good and faithful servant!" - or is He thinking of us as He thought/thinks of Sodom and Gomorrah? On today's show, we will explore, "Proverbs", Chapter 4. We will also play Part 2 of my interview with MAY ALIRAD. MAY ALIRAD, a School Social Worker with Chicago Public Schools working with families on the Southside of Chicago for the past 15 years, May is also the Executive Director for the Lao-American Organization of Elgin and has held other leadership positions within the organization for the past 14 years. Chad Fischer's early work was being a drummer for the band School of Fish ("Three Strange Days"), founded by his college friend Josh Clayton-Felt. Fischer replaced the original their original drummer in 1991; however, he did not play on the band's second album due to a fallout with a producer and was replaced by Josh Freese. Mr. Freese pops up repeatedly in this episode. Nevertheless, Fischer still stayed with the band to perform live. The only official commercial School of Fish release that included his drumming was the single "Take Me Anywhere," which you can hear in this episode.  After School of Fish disbanded in 1994, Chad Fischer built his own recording studio and started writing new material. He signed to Almo Sounds label and formed the band Lazlo Bane, whose debut album, 11 Transistor, was released in January 1997. During the early years, Chad Fischer met Colin Hay, with whom he became a close friend. Fisher played drums on Hay's 1994 album Topanga, while Hay contributed guitar and vocals to Lazlo Bane's cover of "Overkill" from their debut album.  Since then, Chad Fischer took part in the recording of Hay's subsequent studio albums up to Next Year People in 2015. Chad wore many hats, from session musician and songwriter to mixing engineer and co-producer. Chad Fischer's early work on TV scores includes shows My Guide to Becoming a Rock Star and The Class. In 2007 Chad Fischer and Lazlo Bane guitarist Tim Bright started scoring the American medical drama series Private Practice. During its run Fischer and Bright won BMI TV Music Award four times: in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2012. The show concluded after six seasons in 2013. After Private Practice, Chad Fischer started providing music for another ABC show, Scandal. For his work, he won the BMI TV Music Award six times from 2013 to 2018. Oh, yea, and Chad wrote "I'm No Superman" - the theme song to the show Scrubs.  The highly acclaimed Garden State soundtrack, released in 2004, subsequently winning a Grammy Award in 2005 and receiving platinum certification, featured two songs produced by Chad Fischer: "Blue Eyes" performed by Cary Brothers and "Winding Road" performed by actress Bonnie Somerville. Other musicians and bands Fischer produced include Everlast, Lisa Loeb, Colin Hay, and The Good Luck Joes. Are you still reading this?  You should really be listening. After spending an incredible seven weeks in Turkey this past summer with Mavi, my husband, and his family, I knew that I had to share my experience with the Naked Beauty community. As a beauty lover, foodie, and Black woman who has married into this culture, Turkey has become like a second home to me and a place that I believe is so often misunderstood. Luckily my two friends, Turkish comedian Lesli Karavil and Black American ex-pat Courtney Shay, agreed to sit down with me and unpack all that comes with living in this country. From exploring the various ways in which women choose to self-present, to embracing stillness as a means of femininity, to finding beauty services as a Black woman in Istanbul, there is so much nuance and uniqueness to unpack in this episode. In fact, you might just have to listen twice!Links to Products/Resources Mentioned: Mikla (Restaurant), Gülsha Rosewater, Spa Soul at The Ritz Carlton Istanbul, My Guide to Istanbul (The Strategist), Exfoliating Bath Mitt, Watch My Hammam ExperienceJoin the Naked Beauty Community on IG: @nakedbeautyplanet Check out nakedbeautypodcast.com for all previous episodes & search episodes by topicRate, Subscribe & Review the Podcast on Apple Thanks for all the love and support. I was born in south africa. I migrated to Australia in 2008. My husband is English from East Grinstead. I met him in Canada in 2007. The reason I migrated. I arrived here with two small kids on my own work visa to see if I could make a go of it. I started a joint business with John in 2012 (He runs finances and I am the rest) Now we all work in the business. Carolees my daughter is my right hand. She is also a mom and married. I am a granny! Or as I call it a GLAMMY!I am so purposeful about the work we do and the difference I can make in people's lives. In our practice, we have managed to help people all through ASIA and I am determined to keep working on helping people grow and be better with others. My dad was a minister so maybe that's why I am so passionate about people. I was brought up in a way that I would serve the community and work tirelessly in the church to help people. I remember at 17 I said I wanted to be a minister and my dad said Girls don't do that. Who would have known that 30 years later I would be running a business where I work with people and help them be better every day.I have to be honest and say I wasn't always this way inclined. I was very driven to work hard and improve the lives of my kids so I worked my way into an executive leadership role (2x) and I loved it yet I needed to do more and be more! In this episode, I am talking about processing endings.  Everything in life is a cycle. When we move from one to another, we tend to do this without reflection. I talk in this episode about how the invisible space between the ending of one cycle and the beginning of the next is so potent for growth! The cycle of death and rebirth is one that I have become intimately connected to in my life and I talk about how I navigate this by really looking at the wisdom and shadows of every ending.  I decided to record and publish this episode today because it is the New Moon in Aries. I mentioned that the birch tree represents the new year in Celtic and Shamanic astrology, but Aries is the new year for the astrological year as well! The birch themes of determination and initiation resonate a lot with Aries energy. The only Aries in my chart is Jupiter - so this is a lucky and prosperous time for me! I hope these messages resonate with you - thank you for listening! Updates I will be offering group distance healing sessions monthly or bi-weekly! I am doing a Giveaway for a one hour Distance Quantum Reiki and Crystal Healing session and the winner will be announced on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 (@concreteandcrystals) My Guide to Your Inner Lightworker Workshop is this Friday, April 16th to Sunday, April 18th! The face-to-face training of guide dogs came to an end with lockdown. And the crisis has led to questions about how dogs may be losing their skills in this period of relative inactivity. Guide Dogs Director of Operations Peter Osborne takes on questions about how much of the delays pre-dated Coronavirus and where the My Guide project fits into future plans. You can contact their helpline on 08007811444. And Iris Peel puts the miles in. The accomplished runner was training for the Manchester Marathon when Covid struck. She thinks she can safely go out with her guide runner in a park operating while still respecting the two metre social distancing rule, but England Athletics say it's not safe. Should blind people lose their ability to make distancing choices that are left up to other members of the public? And attention is turning to the NHS tracing app which will be a key tool in fighting Coronavirus. But how accessible was the version trialled on the Isle of Wight? Celebrity host Jeff Brazier speaks to guide dog owners Alex Pepper and Nathan Edge, who both lost their sight completely as teenagers. They are joined by Nathan’s friend Pete Jones-Hall who he met through Guide Dogs’ My Guide service. Topics of discussion include football; coming to terms with sight loss; how it can make or break friendships; what similarities, differences and challenges there are in making friends when you are blind. Alex shares hilarious friendship fails – including childhood mates being so used to his sight loss that they frequently forget he has it and leave him in pubs, clubs and even on stag dos by accident. Pete and Nathan share how My Guide matched Pete to support Nathan train for the London marathon and how with “only one good eye” between them, they bonded straight away.
