The Role Radio - A 5e Actual Play Dungeons & Dragons Podcast is an incredible podcast that brings together a close and humorous group of players who truly love the game. From the very first episode, it is evident that this group has great chemistry and their love for the game shines through in every episode. If you are a veteran dragon of the game, this podcast will definitely appeal to you.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the development of the characters over time. The adventure feels unique and exciting, with twists and turns that keep listeners on their toes. The players themselves are really funny, delivering jokes that are genuinely hilarious or so ironically dumb that they become funny. While the first few episodes may be slower in pace, it is absolutely worth sticking with the podcast for the long term as it only gets better. Additionally, it's refreshing to hear a group of players who are clearly friends and have been playing together for some time, which adds an extra layer of enjoyment to listening.
The DM's (Mark's) voice acting is enjoyable throughout, especially with his old-timey intro and outro. Christine's commitment to voice acting is also commendable and adds depth to the storytelling. Erik's voice acting may not be perfect, but it perfectly emulates many attempts at a Scots accent, making it relatable and entertaining. Brian's commitment to his character is something that many listeners will strive to achieve themselves, while Cliff's portrayal as someone needing tutelage is spot-on.
Another standout aspect of this podcast is its editing and sound work. It sounds professional and well-produced, making it an easy listen for both seasoned D&D players and newcomers alike.
While there aren't many negatives to point out, one minor issue some listeners may face is distinguishing between Brian's and Cliff's regular voices when they speak out of character. However, this issue doesn't persist for long as you continue listening.
In conclusion, The Role Radio - A 5e Actual Play Dungeons & Dragons Podcast is highly recommended for both TTRPG enthusiasts and those new to the game. The DM does an impressive job of bringing life to the source material, while the players clearly enjoy themselves and stay focused on the game without getting sidetracked. The podcast strikes a perfect balance between storytelling and allowing listeners to understand the decision-making process of the players. It is easily one of the best podcasts in its genre and a must-listen for anyone interested in D&D or simply wanting to have fun listening to a group of adventurers embark on exciting quests.

In this episode, no genre is left unturned. It starts off like a Hollywood blockbuster, then quickly morphs into an 80's action show. This episode is a sort of hybrid genre piece. It's part supernatural action adventure loaded up with the overused trope of the sexy librarian.
