Dave takes the reins solo on this episode and gets into Three Things he sees in a restaurant's cutlery and dishware—and what it says about the restaurant. Slice of Life takes a “turn” as Dave talks about a high-pressure situation every driver likely faces on a daily basis. Dave then gets into an AskDave segment, with a question about eating in a larger group in New York—and offers ideas for other large groups of diners and some of the best restaurant meal ideas. My Opinion Is Fact covers a wide variety of topics, including one question Dave calls “the best MOIF question [Euno] has ever come up with”: Which bar and pub game would Dave want to be the best at? The surprising answer involves some playful sniping at the Podfather (and perhaps an open challenge). Dave also covers his favorite airports to eat at, his favorite things to prep as a cook, and a FMK of custard-based desserts. Dave and Chris kick off the episode by discussing three moments in time they'd like to travel back to. Slice delves into an “addendum to the hefeweizen principle”—Dave's theory that bartenders are able to tell what drinks a patron wants before they actually order them. Ask Dave asks: Has Dave fallen out of love with some of his signature dishes? Dave talks about one of his most famous dishes, the Momofuku pork bun, and how he no longer wants to eat it or prepare it, and he draws a parallel to musical acts that have to play their hits. MOIF gets into a road trip convenience store draft, where Dave and Chris have to pick one savory snack, one sweet snack, and one drink. The MOIF rounds out with an overrated/underrated on attending live events, including NFL games, magic shows, and tennis matches. Slice has Verticalized the Tech Stack for Pizza Commerce{00:09:12} - “What you want to do is build a team that is optimized for the industry that you're in… One of the things that I'm currently doing right now is filling that cupboard with people who understand the space, either from the consumer side or the pizza shop side because they understand the pain points.” - Matthew{00:10:07} - “I'm so big on messaging. It's one of those things that like ten Xs an ad. Once you can succinctly explain what you do or what your value prop is and it immediately sticks in someone's head, that's how you make an ad more impactful and how you make all your marketing more impactful.” - Matthew{00:12:27} - “It's really interesting to think about how context impacts what your message is, even if you're selling the same product.” - Matthew{00:15:35} - “I got your attention, and I understand I have only got it for half of a moment. What is the key information you need to remember there? You've got to figure out that way to stand out and deliver your message quickly.” - Matthew{00:23:40} - “You can just manipulate data so easily to tell the story that you want. The people who are really, really good at looking at data are the ones who tell you there's no right or wrong way to look at data because they understand that anyone who says there's a right way, they have an agenda.” - Matthew{00:31:52} - “There are foundational things you need to do in order to be successful, and then 50% of it, you've got to use your instinct or your gut or realize that your past experience, even if it's not 1 to 1, on how you're going to market this either specific product or to this specific cohort.” - Matthew{00:42:08} “It's more about owning the data. It's this idea that you have all this data and you are throwing it away. And so to me, the future of commerce is shops that have not yet harnessed the power of data to do something really special with it and to figure out how to maximize the value of their customers.” - MatthewAssociated Links:Learn more about Matthew Kobach and SliceGrab your copy of The Multiplayer Brand hereHave you checked out our YouTube channel yet?Subscribe to Insiders and The Senses to read more about what we are witnessing in the commerce worldListen to our other episodes of Future CommerceHave any questions or comments about the show? Dish Name: VengeanceIngredients:1 cup of Fiery Fury Peppers (for that burning desire for revenge)2 tablespoons of Bitter Betrayal Balsamic Vinegar3 cloves of Crushed Grudges Garlic1 teaspoon of Dark Secrets Sea SaltA pinch of Time's Healing Thyme4 Revenge-Ready Red Onions, thinly sliced1 cup of Shredded Resentment Cheese2 cups of Diced Deception Tomatoes1 cup of Sliced Suspicion OlivesFreshly Ground Grudge Pepper, to tasteInstructions:Prepare Your Revenge:Begin by harvesting the Fiery Fury Peppers at the peak of their fiery essence. Wear protective gloves; you wouldn't want to get burned!Slice the peppers into rings and soak them in the Bitter Betrayal Balsamic Vinegar. Let them marinate while you prepare the other ingredients.Simmering Grudges:In a saucepan over low heat, sauté the Crushed Grudges Garlic with a drizzle of olive oil until it's fragrant and golden, but not burnt.Add the thinly sliced Revenge-Ready Red Onions and cook until they turn a deep shade of resentment.Layering the Dish:In a serving dish, start by spreading a layer of simmered grudges (the sautéed onions and garlic).Sprinkle a pinch of Time's Healing Thyme for that touch of irony.Adding the Fiery Element:Take the marinated Fiery Fury Peppers and arrange them on top of the grudge layer. Be cautious; they're hot!A Touch of Betrayal:Scatter the Diced Deception Tomatoes and Sliced Suspicion Olives over the peppers. They represent the unexpected twists in life. The Final Touch:Sprinkle the Shredded Resentment Cheese generously over the dish, letting it melt slightly into the layers below.Season with Dark Secrets Sea Salt and freshly ground Grudge Pepper to taste.Baking Revenge:Place the dish in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.Serve with Satisfaction:Once out of the oven, let it cool for a minute, allowing the flavors to meld. Dave opens the episode with three things he did after school instead of homework—including using a certain video game system that might have taken up a lot of time. The episode segues into a Slice about robocallers and cold callers—and Dave's wildly inefficient method of possibly putting an end to cold callers once and for all. He continues the episode by discussing issues he's encountered with saying no to requests made by strangers in person. The episode continues with an AskDave about a sticky situation at a Michelin-starred restaurant, before getting to a quick MOIF about action movie franchises. Dave dishes on his favorite action movie franchise now that he's reached his 40s. Dave then goes into an exploration of commonly consumed fruit juices—and which one he finds most helpful in the kitchen. The episode lands with Dave waxing poetic about a lesser-known Korean noodle dish and what its presence on a menu might say about a Korean restaurant. S4-E35, Ever thought about how mice seem to be hypnotized when stared at? Well, they're not, and we're here to set the record straight in the most delightful way. This was a week of sweltering heat, so naturally, we decided to crack open a few cold ones - beers that is! We clinked our glasses together in honor of some exquisite German beverages, beginning with a September Fest Golden with 22 IBUs, and then moving on to a delectable Slice pumpkin beer.Did you know that October Fest actually happens in September? Talk about a head-scratcher! Our refrigerator is starting to look like a homage to the orange gourd with all the pumpkin beers we've gathered. We even toyed with the idea of sending some to our friends overseas, along with a few cheeky Hot Cheetos and M&Ms. And speaking of heat, we've had a real scorcher this week. From Fort July's 104 degrees to the South's 101 - we've found solace in my 86-degree pool and some refreshing beers from Wolf Ridge Brewing Company. Our conversation took a fun detour as we quizzed each other with random trivia, covering everything from the Titanic to Christmas celebrations and even some unexpected facts about boxing referees. We ended the episode on a soothing note, discussing our favorite smells. For Billy, it's the invigorating aroma of mint and the crisp Texas mornings. Listen in, and you may just find yourself immersed in a world of amusing anecdotes, trivia, and a shared love of beer.Support the showwww.anotherreasontodrink.com

Dave and Chris kick off the episode talking about a … strange … take from the 'Ringer Fantasy Football Show' and question their fantasy football knowledge based on their food preferences. The episode continues with a Slice where Dave declares the space of one's airplane seat to be “personal airspace” and an experience with a pushy passenger. "Ask Dave" sees Dave encounter a problem that plagues chefs and restaurateurs everywhere: What do you do if a former chef copies the dishes from their former employer at their new job … and the new job is down the street from their old one? The episode turns to Cory McConnell and Victoria Valencia's experience at the Spotify headquarters in Stockholm, and their meal at Ekstedt. Dave and Chris pay their respects to Copenhagen and Stockholm's dining scene. Finally, the two land on a MOIF where they talk about the best seafood tower selections, and the proper way to enjoy an oyster. In another chat with David Allen, Dave Edwards asks about the Mind Sweep. How often to do it? What to do with the results? David replies and also explores what happens when a team or a couple does a Mind Sweep. Later they discuss how to clarify and organize what has shown up in the Mind Sweep. Finally, Dave asks David what he's been reading lately, and we get a look at David's bookshelf. Dave kicks off the episode with a SLICE containing an interesting conundrum: What happens when a group needs to split a check and one person didn't consume as much as the others (or didn't drink)? Ask Dave sees Dave answer a couple interesting questions. He starts off with the one thing he would teach high schoolers before they go to culinary school (or enter the workforce as cooks). Dave then walks through the perfect day of eating in Tokyo (“Pitching a Perfect Game”), including skipping breakfast and eating THREE pizzas at the legendary Seirinkan and more. He also talks about his real-life “epic day” through Tokyo with famous Instagram gourmand Little Meg. Things close out with an abbreviated MOIF, including Dave's hot (?) takes on Korean food, declaring Korean cold noodles to be the best, and a discussion on the best hot foods to eat to cool down. Dave takes a Slice of Life segment talking about wedding attendance—and how his eagerness to attend a wedding has significantly changed with age. The Ask Dave turns into a “Would You Please Stop” as Dave talks about being asked for a last-minute table as a favor—and why he's unwilling to fulfill these requests. Finally, Euno and Dave break down various stereotypical diners, and assess which dining group they'd like to eat with the most.
