What experiences might I be having? Contexts: Career Lifestyle Energy/health Finances Relationships Time horizons: 5 years? 10 years? 20 years? More? HORIZON 3: Goals and Objectives My vision influences my goals and objectives. My goals and objectives contribute to my vision. Trigger Question: Given what?s currently in play, and what I?ve thought about today, what are the things I need to have happen, or would like to have true for me, within the next 12 to 24 months? HORIZON 2: Areas of Focus and Accountability My goals and objectives influence my areas of focus and accountability. My areas of focus and accountability contribute to my goals.  Massive Growth Areas Under $350K in Melbourne      What if you could still buy in Melbourne for under $350k and get growth? In this episode, host Todd Sloan chats with Steve Ash from PropertyStrats, who lays out why affordable units with a land component might be one of the most overlooked plays in the market right now.   Todd and Steve unpack the real difference between a deal and a disaster, why high-rise apartments often fall flat, and how previous strong performances in similar markets hint at where comparable opportunities may be emerging now. They dig into current examples, what drives demand at this price point, and the key things to look for so you're not buying a headache.   If you're trying to enter the Melbourne market without stretching the budget, this episode gives you a fresh way to think about value and growth.

This season, embrace the traditions that feed your holiday spirit, and give yourself permission to set down the traditions that have become too heavy. In this episode of FNO: InsureTech, host Rob Beller speaks with Tim Attia, CEO and Co-Founder of Slice Labs, for a detailed discussion on the company's evolution and product strategy. Tim describes how Slice transitioned from on-demand and gig economy insurance to higher-premium E&S and contractor general liability coverage, explaining the impact of automation and AI on their approach. The conversation highlights Slice's focus on operational efficiency and streamlined agent experience amid changing market and profitability demands. Key Highlights Tim Attia traces Slice Labs' shift from small, on-demand gig policies to E&S and contractor-focused products, including annual and project-based general liability, in response to changes brought on by COVID-19 and market realities. The episode examines how Slice employs automation, algorithms, and AI for business classification and underwriting, allowing significant growth without proportional increases in staffing. Slice's digital platform enabled rapid, low-friction underwriting for agents in E&S, removing many of the traditional obstacles agents faced in placing contractor risks. Tim introduces the concept of "risk DNA"—using neural networks, historic data, and both machine and underwriter insights to guide risk assessment and underwriting as policies grow in size and complexity. There is a focus on the adoption of tools such as generative AI and document extraction to streamline workflows for underwriters and developers alike. Tim emphasizes that insurance is inherently more complex than technology alone, requiring both advanced data modeling and nuanced human judgment. The discussion also covers experiences at conferences such as WSIA and Target Markets, the enduring role of agents and wholesalers, and the importance of staying close to carrier partnerships as methods and partnerships in distribution and underwriting change.

Other guests include Courtney Brown from Ruah Woods, Gary Michuta from Hands On Apologetics, and Fr. Robert Nixon, O.S.B., with reflections on silence from Thomas a Kempis. Plus news, weather, sports, and more… ***** A Prayer for Grace and Guidance O Lord God almighty, who has brought to us to the beginning of this day, defend us in the same by Your power; that we may not this day fall into any sin, but that all our thoughts, words, and works may be directed to the fulfillment of Your will. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, world without end. Amen. ***** THANKSGIVING RECIPE IDEAS FROM RITA Sweet Potato Coins4 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-1/2” rounds1/4 cup olive oil or more if needed1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves2 generous teaspoons minced garlic1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes1 teaspoon saltExtra sprigs of thyme Preheat oven to 400. Toss potatoes with oil, thyme, garlic, pepper and salt. Place standing each coin up on sprayed cookie sheet. Add extra thyme sprigs around potatoes. Roast 40-45 minutes. Serves 4. ***** Sweet Potato Soufflé (from listener Karen Lance) Casserole:3-4 medium sweet potatoes, peeled, cooked, and mashed1 cup sugar3/4 cup melted butter2 beaten eggs1 tsp cinnamon1 tsp vanilla1/4 tsp allspice1/3 cup milk Topping1/4 cup flour1/3 cup melted butter1 cup light brown sugar1 cup chopped pecans Mix together casserole ingredients and pour into oblong baking dish.Bake 15 minutes at 350, then reduce temperature to 300 and bake for 10 more minutes.Mix together ingredients for topping, add to the top of sweet potato mixture, and bake for another 15 minutes at 350. ***** Rita’s Clone of Cheesecake Factory’s Cheesecake This cake is so rich that I use a 9” pan. If you use an 8” pan, plan on baking a bit longer. An 8” pan makes thicker slices, and they look almost as high as Cheesecake Factory’s. The taste is so similar you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference!Crust:1-1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs1 tablespoon or so of sugar1/2 to 1 teaspoon cinnamon5 tablespoons melted butterMix until crumbly, not pasty. Pat into 9” springform pan going up the sides a bit. Set aside while making filling: Filling:1 pound cream cheese, room temperature1 cup sour cream1-1/4 cups sugar1 teaspoon vanilla3 tablespoons brown sugar15 oz canned pumpkin2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice1/2 teaspoon cinnamon4 eggs, lightly beatenPreheat oven to 350. Beat cream cheese, sour cream, sugar and vanilla until smooth. Add pumpkin and spices and blend. Add eggs and blend until mixed. Pour into pan. Bake 40-45 minutes until center is almost set but still wobbly. Turn oven off but leave cheesecake in with oven door shut for 30 minutes more. This will finish the baking process and prevent a lot of “cracking” on top. Refrigerate several hours or up to 2 days to complete firming up of cheesecake. Garnish with whipped cream and nuts if you like. Serves 10-12. ***** Annie’s Family Bread Stuffing 3 Tablespoons chopped onion1/4 Cup butter4 Cups dry bread cubes (about 7 slices cut or torn)1/4 teaspoon salt1/4 teaspoon pepper1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning1/2 teaspoon ground sage2-4 tablespoons water or chicken broth Cook onion in butter, combine with bread and seasoning. Toss with enough liquid to moisten Makes 3 cups stuffing or enough stuffing for a 4-5 pound chicken. For a 10 pound turkey, double the recipe. ***** Matt’s Crispy Oven Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Shallots and Bacon 1 pound Brussels sprouts1/4 pound bacon, cut into 1/2 inch wide strips3 shallotsOlive OilBlack Pepper to taste Preheat oven to 400. Slice shallots, and cut of stems of Brussels sprouts and halve them. Add sprouts, shallots, and bacon to a large mixing bowl, and toss with olive oil and black pepper. Key PointsCraig identified his lymph nodes as the most difficult area to treat after the squamous cell carcinoma metastasized into his neck and spread rapidly through his body almost overnight.Black salve treatment was used successfully on two to three dozen skin cancers over several years, with one recurring lesion in the jawline requiring multiple treatments through the soft tissue.Craig's wife noticed a suspicious mole with irregular pattern and color changes, prompting her to urge him to seek medical attention despite his reluctance to visit doctors.Inspiration came from a friend named Mick from Port Lincoln who had laser skin cancer that progressed through multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation before doctors said they would remove his cheekbone and upper jaw as a final measure.Craig maintained a positive attitude throughout treatment, stating he was confident the natural protocols would work and never feared for his life, unlike many other cancer patients.Multiple lesions appeared simultaneously after waking one night with a line running from a head lesion down to his lymph nodes, creating a half golf ball-sized mass in his neck.Internal bloodroot capsules were taken as part of the treatment protocol, causing approximately 30 lesions to emerge on his back, arms, and legs all at once several weeks later.Rick Simpson oil was consumed at a dosage of two grams daily, taken as suppositories during daytime to maintain functionality and orally before bed mixed with coconut oil for better sleep.Family members expressed resistance and concern about the alternative treatment approach, with some calling him an idiot for thinking he knew better than doctors.Cannabis access in Australia has become easier through decriminalized status in some states and a government medicinal cannabis program, with much product imported from Canada.Comprehensive detox protocols included a clean organic vegan diet with no sugar, castor oil liver detox treatments, coffee enemas, heavy metal detox smoothies with cilantro, and Essiac tea.Craig's partner's 77-year-old mother was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer that had metastasized to her heart lining, with doctors stating there was nothing they could do.Treatment for the partner's mother included Rick Simpson oil mixed with frankincense and myrrh, plus the same vegan diet and detox protocols, along with Fenbendazole and Ivermectin.Eight weeks after starting alternative treatment, scans showed the partner's mother's stage four lung cancer was nearly all gone, with only small scar tissue remaining. Boundaries over Burnout Podcast | Create a Healthy Work-Life Balance as a Christian Entrepreneur

Christmas is a time for celebration, joy, and the warmth of family traditions. This year, let's embrace the homemade spirit by creating a charming Christmas atmosphere using natural elements like orange slices and other delightful crafts. This podcast will guide you through crafting unique decorations, festive treats, and heartwarming gifts—all infused with the essence of the season. Grab your scissors, glue, and a hot cocoa as we dive into the merry world of homemade Christmas! 1. Gathering Your Materials To get started, you'll need a few essential materials to create your decorations and treats: - For Décor: - Dried orange slices - Cinnamon sticks - Pinecones (natural or painted) - Twine or ribbon - Craft glue - Scissors - For Treats: - Ingredients for cookies or gingerbread - Festive sprinkles or edible glitter - Small mason jars or bags for packaging - For Gifts: - Blank gift tags - Decorative paper - Craft materials for personalizing gifts 2. Creating Dried Orange Slice Ornaments Dried orange slices add a beautiful, natural element to your Christmas décor. The process of making these ornaments is simple and rewarding. Ingredients & Instructions: 1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C). 2. Slice oranges into 1/4-inch thick rounds. 3. Place the slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. 4. Bake for 2-3 hours, turning them halfway through, until they are dry but not burnt. 5. Once dried, use a skewer to create a small hole at the top of each slice for hanging. 6. Thread twine through the hole and hang them on your tree, mantel, or around your home. These will not only look stunning but will also fill your space with a light citrus aroma. 3. Crafting a Cinnamon Stick Bundle Next, let's create a rustic decoration that will complement your dried orange slices: cinnamon stick bundles. Instructions: 1. Gather 3-5 cinnamon sticks and tie them together using twine or ribbon. 2. Attach a dried orange slice or a small pinecone to the bundle for added charm. 3. Use these bundles as chair decorations, table centerpieces, or even as gift toppers. These bundles capture the scent of Christmas and add a touch of elegance to your décor. 4. Baking Festive Treats No Christmas is complete without delicious treats! Consider baking cookies or gingerbread with your family. Simple Gingerbread Cookie Recipe: Ingredients: - 3 cups all-purpose flour - 1 tablespoon ground ginger - 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon - 1/2 tablespoon ground cloves - 1 teaspoon baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon salt - 3/4 cup unsalted butter (softened) - 3/4 cup brown sugar - 1/2 cup molasses - 1 egg Instructions: 1. In a bowl, mix together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt. 2. In another bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar, then beat in the molasses and egg. 3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. 4. Refrigerate the dough for about 1 hour. 5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and roll out the dough on a floured surface. 6. Cut out shapes and place them on lined baking sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until firm. 7. Let them cool and decorate with icing and sprinkles. Package them in mason jars with a festive ribbon for a personal touch! 5. Personalizing Gifts with DIY Touch Once your decorations and treats are ready, it's time to wrap your gifts. Gift-Wrapping Ideas: - Use plain brown paper and decorate it with stamps or doodles. - Attach a bundle of dried orange slices and cinnamon sticks to your gifts for a beautiful, aromatic embellishment. - Handwrite gift tags with heartfelt messages. These simple yet personal touches will make your presents memorable and cherished. Merry Christmas

Hi Bakers,My son and his girlfriend went to the Farmer's Market and brought back a beautiful pumpkin roll cake. It looked so good, I thought why haven't I made one?? Oh yes, I remember I was terrified to try and roll a cake in a cylinder. I'm not sure if I got brave or just desperate to have a bite of this cake! This is my first attempt at making it and revising the recipe to be gluten-free too. Make this cake if you love a moist, sweet pumpkin cake with lots of rich cream cheese and butter icing. I would 100% make this cake again because it's so tasty, quick to mix together, and pretty forgiving too! Enjoy~CarolynTips Before Baking:Don't use two sheets of parchment paper; the cake cracked at the seamSpread the cake batter evenly in the pan so it bakes Roll the cake slowly while hot and  cool seam side down on a rackfrost cake all the way to the edges Keep the frosted cake tightly wrapped in plastic while coolingNeeded Equipment:jelly roll pan, 10”x 15”parchment paper large enough to cover the bottom of the panFoil or plastic wrap  (best)Optional Equipment:small offset spatula (helps smooth batter in an even layerGluten-Free Pumpkin Roll with Cream Cheese Butter IcingModified for gluten-free from Tastes Better From Scratch's RecipeDry Ingredients3/4 cup Cup4Cup Brand Multipurpose Flour (original blend with milk powder**)1/2 teaspoon sweet rice flour1/2 teaspoon baking soda1/2 teaspoon cinnamon1/2 teaspoon ginger1/4 teaspoon allspice1/8 teaspoon clovesWet Ingredients3 large eggs1 cup granulated sugar2/3 cup pumpkin puree (Libby's preferred)1 teaspoon vanilla extractCream Cheese Icing3 tablespoons butter, softened1 8-ounce block of cream cheese, softened1 cup powdered sugar1 teaspoon vanilla extract.Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 10”x 15” jelly-roll pan and line with parchment paper. Press the paper into the pan so it sticks in place, and then, grease the top of the paper too.Whisk the dry ingredients together in a medium-sized bowl and set aside. Mix the wet ingredients in a large bowl and then add the dry and stirring just until mixed. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top evenly to the edges. Bake for 11-14 minutes or until the top of the cake springs back. You can also use a toothpick; cake is done when the toothpick comes clean. Remove from the oven and place the pan on a heat-proof surface. Gently remove the cake from the jelly-roll pan and slide it onto a flat surface. You may have to cut around a few of the edges to free it. Starting with the short edge, slowly the cake with the parchment into a tight cylinder and secure by placing edge side down on a rack until completely cool.Combine the icing ingredients together while the cake is cooling.  Beat butter and cream cheese together with a mixer until smooth. Next, mix in the sugar and vanilla extract. Scrape down the bowl and mix until totally combined. Gently unroll the cake and frost the entire cake gently with a spoon or offset spatula. Try to get as even a layer as possible.  Re-roll the frosted cake and wrap tightly in plastic wrap or foil until chilled for at least 1 hour. Plate the cake by unrolling and dusting liberally with powdered sugar. Slice gently with a serrated knife and enjoy. Cake keeps well wrapped for up to 3 days. Enjoy!** If you have trouble finding this flour in stores, check online. I buy mine on Amazon.

What can slicing a watermelon teach us about design? Turns out… quite a lot. This week, I chat with Vitaly Friedman, founder of Smashing Magazine, to explore curiosity, inefficiency, and why the best designers obsess over process, not perfection. What if your next design breakthrough came not from a book or a course, but from learning to slice a watermelon?Vitaly Friedman has spent decades shaping how designers think about the web. But in this conversation, we go beyond pixels and patterns to talk about something much more profound: how curiosity itself becomes a design tool. From choosing the perfect watermelon to mastering the art of ironing, Vitaly reveals how everyday obsessions can teach us how to think, learn, and design better. We explore how designers can reclaim joy and curiosity in their work, especially in environments where efficiency and productivity often come at the expense of creativity. Vitaly's take? It's not about finding the perfect way to do something—it's about exploring many ways and discovering meaning in the process. From grilled watermelons to enterprise UX, we connect the dots between experimentation, self-learning, and the messy human side of design. If you've ever felt stuck chasing “best practices” or trying to find the “right” answer, this episode will remind you that sometimes, the most valuable thing you can do is play.Topics:• 03:39 – The Watermelon Metaphor• 05:37 – Choosing the Perfect Watermelon• 09:19 – Cutting Techniques and Presentation• 13:34 – Grilling Watermelon and Culinary Creativity• 14:28 – Learning and Self-Education• 15:13 – The Journey of Exploration• 18:28 – Imposter Syndrome and Asking for Help• 22:00 – Humanizing Executives and Stakeholders• 22:48 – The Importance of Curiosity• 25:34 – Ironing and Finding Zen• 30:01 – The Role of Enjoyment in Learning• 31:35 – Procrastination and Productivity• 33:46 – Procrastination and Focus• 34:48 – Memorable Conference Experience• 37:08 – Finding Joy in Enterprise UX Design• 38:50 – Challenges in Enterprise Projects• 41:35 – Building Trust and Team Culture• 50:50 – Balancing Exploration and DeliveryHelpful Links:• Connect with Vitaly on LinkedIn• Smashing Magazine• Design Patterns For AI Interfaces—Thanks for listening! As we celebrate the birth of Christ this Christmas, join us in giving new life to brothers and sisters in Sudan who have enslaved as a result of their faith. https://csi-usa.org/metaxas   https://csi-usa.org/slavery/   Typical Aid for the Enslaved A ration of sorghum, a local nutrient-rich staple food A dairy goat A “Sack of Hope,” a survival kit containing essential items such as tarp for shelter, a cooking pan, a water canister, a mosquito net, a blanket, a handheld sickle, and fishing hooks. Release celebrations include prayer and gathering for a meal, and medical care for those in need. The CSI team provides comfort, encouragement, and a shoulder to lean on while they tell their stories and begin their new lives. Thank you for your compassion  Giving the Gift of Freedom and Hope to the Enslaved South Sudanese -------------------------------------------------------- Food For the Poor https://foodforthepoor.org/ Help us serve the poorest of the poor Food For The Poor began in 1982 in Jamaica. Today, our interdenominational Christian ministry serves the poor in primarily 17 countries throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. Thanks to our faithful donors, we are able to provide food, housing, healthcare, education, fresh water, emergency relief, micro-enterprise solutions and much more. We are proud to have fed millions of people and provided more than 15.7 billion dollars in aid. Our faith inspires us to be an organization built on compassion, and motivated by love. Our mission is to bring relief to the poorest of the poor in the countries where we serve. We strive to reflect God's unconditional love. It's a sacrificial love that embraces all people regardless of race or religion. We believe that we can show His love by serving the “least of these” on this earth as Christ challenged us to do in Matthew 25. We pray that by God's grace, and with your support, we can continue to bring relief to the suffering and hope to the hopeless.   Report on Food For the Poor by Charity Navigator https://www.charitynavigator.org/ein/592174510   -------------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer from ACU.
