Substance added to food to impart or enhance a flavor
POPULARITY
On today's episode we talk about the incredible popularity and influence of an odd product: Ketchup. What would the world be like without it?
Yes, Baconsale has ranked basic condiments before, but these brand-name sauces add a whole new flavor to the discussion. Joel, Kent, and Zack are taking a dip into the fast-food realm to discuss dressings such as Arby's Horsey Sauce, Del Taco Del Scorcho, Chick-fil-A Sauce, In-N-Out Burger Spread, McDonald's Sweet 'N Sour Sauce, Popeyes Mardi Gras Mustard, Papa John's Special Garlic Sauce, Wingstop Ranch, Raising Cane's Cane Sauce, and more. As we debate on which condiments are Fire, which ones are just Good Good, and which ones blackened our taste buds, we'll unintentionally do Sean Connery impersonations, reveal all the copycat recipes, occasionally change tiers, and learn which podcasters can't handle spice. The tangy delta cow wants you to press play.
Glen Powell stops by to catch up, talk about his love for Texas and his new condiment line, and play a fun game. Also, Casey Wilson joins to give a sneak peek at the third season of the popular competition series ‘The Great American Baking Show.' Plus, Jenna and Tyra Banks serve up some sweet treats and surprises around Rockefeller Center. And, chef Katie Lee Biegel shares a fried chicken recipe perfect for Fourth of July celebrations.
This week on Endless Thread, we're raiding our refrigerators and rating our favorite condiments with TikTok creator and author "Condiment Claire" Dinhut. We learn about the surprising history of some of our favorite flavor-enhancers, and Claire shares her secrets for using up the last bits of sauce in a jar and how she keeps her online presence appetizing. Show notes: The Condiment Book (Flatiron Books) Credits: This episode was written and produced by Grace Tatter. Mix and sound design by Paul Vaitkus. It was hosted by Ben Brock Johnson and Amory Sivertson.

Finally gonna start to warm up over the next few days! And it's basically the weekend! So let's get after it. Started the morning with the abridged, Pat McCurdy version of the Thursday Song…as he'll be in town tomorrow night at the Alpine Inn. In the news, Delta has offered $30,000 to each passenger on the plane that crashed earlier this week in Toronto. And speaking of plane crashes, there was another deadly collision in Arizona yesterday. Also, the Trump administration has given schools & universities two weeks to eliminate diversity initiatives or risk losing federal funding. Kwik Trip made the Forbes list of the top 100 best large employers. And NASA is now looking at obliterating an asteroid that has a slight chance of striking the Earth. In sports, the Bucks return tonight from the All-Star break, the Badgers play Saturday at home against Oregon, and the NHL 4 Nations Face-off Championship game is tonight between the USA & Canada! Plus, there's BASEBALL ON TODAY!!!!!!!! Elsewhere in sports, the FBI has detailed how it tracked down the Chilean gang robbed a bunch of star athletes, and the WIAA has updated it's policies on transgender athletes. We let you know what's on TV tonight and we also talked to Office Cora to see what she's up to this weekend in the 715. Plus, it's "Hypothetical Thursday"…where we ask each other hypothetical questions to see what our responses are. Jean's question for Brian was: If you could have one season last all year long, which would it be? Brian asked Jean: If you could only have ONE condiment for the rest of your life, what would it be? It's also "National Love Your Pet Day", "National Muffin Day", and "National Handcuff Day". Had a cool story about a 94 year-old woman who was recently reunited with a man that she saved from drowning when he was just a toddler…64 years ago! Plus, have you ever wondered why some people can remember their dreams(Jean), and some people cannot(Brian)?? There's been a bunch of research on that subject recently and we took a look at the results. And how much would it take for someone to quit their job & travel the world? In today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a really bad neighbor, an IVF treatment that went extremely bad, a kid who died after injecting himself with butterfly remains, and a burglar who got caught by a "Home Alone" style booby trap!
