For me, the last full week of the year has always been the chance to pause, take a break from the grind of selling, and really think about what happened over the past year—the good, the bad, and the ugly. If you are anything like me and do the same, there are two ways to look back on your last twelve months. You can do so with regret or reflection. These two opposing lenses are vastly different in the way they affect your view of where you've been and where you are going. Regret Let's start by unpacking regret. Some of you are already feeling regret about goals you missed, deals you lost, opportunities that slipped through your fingers, or the people in your life you may have let down. Regret is that feeling you get when you look back on something you did (or didn't do) and wish you could change it. In many ways, regret is similar to worry, except it's focused on the past instead of the future. Worry is about what might happen; regret is about what already happened. That's a big distinction. Although you can turn worry into action and change the future, you cannot rewrite the past. No amount of regret changes history. All it does is create a feedback loop in your mind where you keep reliving your mistakes, misses, and failures over and over again. Stuck in the Endless Loop of Regret I've observed so many people get stuck in this endless loop of regret. They keep lamenting, "If only I had . . ." "made that call,” “handled that prospect differently,” “taken that chance,” “been there or done that.” Those “if onlys” can paralyze you. They sap your energy, crush your confidence, and keep you from moving forward. On one hand, regret can push you to change—you don't want to feel that kind of pain again, so you work hard to avoid repeating the same mistakes. On the other hand, regret can become a debilitating emotion that drags you into an exhausting and useless mental loop of “would've, could've, should've.” But no matter how many times you complete that loop, it doesn't change the outcome. It becomes an emotional anchor that weighs you down as you start the new year. Reflection Reflection, on the other hand, is entirely different—and far more productive. When you reflect, you detach from your emotions with objectivity to look at your entire body of work from the past year. You're asking the questions, “What went well? What didn't go so well? What did I learn?” You consider the wins that made you proud and the moments you'd rather forget. You figure out why you won so you can repeat those winning behaviors. You extract value from the lessons of failure. Reflection isn't about punishing yourself for what went wrong. It's about gaining clarity on why it went wrong—and what you can do about it next time. Reflection Creates Awareness Reflection also helps you find gratitude in unexpected places. Maybe there's a hidden lesson in overcoming an obstacle or perhaps you gained a new perspective because a challenging person came into your life. It's important to realize that each decision you made over the past year shaped your present circumstances. But you are not defined by these circumstances, only by how you respond to them. Reflection creates awareness. Where there is awareness there is the potential for change. Awareness is like the sun, anything it touches has a tendency to transform. The bottom line is that reflection is about learning, growing and transforming. Regret is stagnation. Why Reflection Matters at Year End The reason I'm talking about the impact of reflection as we close out this year is because for most of us, the slate really does feel clean come January 1st. In the sales world, we get a brand-new quota and brand-new targets. There's an air of possibility as we think, “This year is going to be different. “This year, I'm going to crush my numbers.” “Hit my income targets.” “Make it to President's club.”

The Republican Party is in complete disarray, and Republicans across the country are pinning the blame squarely on Donald Trump. Trump pushed Republicans to oust McCarthy as House Speaker, and that decision has certainly created unnecessary chaos for the Party. But is Trump really the all-powerful puppet master pulling the strings from behind the scenes, or is he a convenient scapegoat for Republicans who don't want to admit what their party has become? And according to Mar-a-Lago member Anthony Pratt, an Australian billionaire, Donald Trump used to brag to him about what he was doing as President, likely revealing state's secrets that he wasn't allowed to spill. This revelation came from a recording of Pratt, who has spoken at length with special prosecutor Jack Smith regarding Trump's hoarding of classified documents. If what Pratt is saying is true, it could easily doom Trump at trial. Also, Republican Representative Lauren Boebert is not doing well with her reelection campaign, and her third quarter fundraising was pathetic compared to her competitors. Not only did she get outraised 4 to 1 by her Democratic opponent, but her Republican primary challenger managed to pull in half of what Boebert raised. On top of that, Boebert has been consistently trailing in the polls, and her antics recently aren't helping her case. And finally, according to Australian billionaire Anothony Pratt, Donald Trump wanted his wife Melania to strut around Mar-a-Lago wearing only a bikini so that he could show her off to all of the club members and try to make them jealous. Trump only views women as objects to be either desired or discarded, and he doesn't get enough credit for being a complete and total scumbag. Of all of his scandals, his treatment and degradation of women seems to always slip back under the radar.

In this not so fun fact filled episode, we learn a few of the cons to making a deal with the devil. We meet some hellish concierges and their not cool bosses. We can access an unprecedented amount of information, freely and openly. The catch? Given the amount to dig, we need help to free-dive this ocean, hence the search and selection algorithms. This means that the help comes at a price, and the risk is to be caught in a digital loop endlessly refracting our own choices back to us, trapping us in a sterile self-serving vortex. The only viable solution I found is to create our own clear personal analytical protocols based on what is underlying the choices of information presented to us; no-one else will have any vested interest to do it for us.

Yesterday I finished my 3rd watching of the new HBO show, Westworld. I very much love this show. The thing to know about me is I'm a long form story connoisseur, that's a fancy way of saying I am a very picky TV show watcher. I worked in Hollywood and studied screenwriting for about 14 years ending my career as an editor at Warner Brothers. I am one of these snobby artists that was very picky and particular, so I don't just like any TV shows. It's very trendy to say, "I don't watch TV, I don't even have a TV in my house." Well good for you, superstar, I happen to love watching and analyzing *ONLY THE BEST* shows. They have to be really good to get the full treatment... Speaking of good, back to the really good Westworld. Most people still haven't heard about Westworld. It came out a couple months ago and, thankfully, got enough people watching it that it is going to have a second season. The show revolves around a sort of theme park for adults. It's set in the future... Has robots that look exactly like humans with near human artificial intelligence and... The theme park is set in the old west and... Anthony Hopkins plays the Godlike creator of the park and... ...it's awesome! It's awesome because it dives deep into what it's like to be human. Like any really good tv shows, you can learn a lot about yourself when watching them. (That doesn't happen to you? You must be watching crappy tv shows!) One of the ideas I really liked in Westworld is the idea that the robot "host" characters are stuck in their prewritten loops. A loop is a specific story that was written for them and they really can't deviate too much from it. So if you are the beautiful and innocent rancher's daughter that loves to paint and help your father you can't just change your mind and go off and join the cavalry to chase bandits or become a hooker at Mave's brothel. You have to stay in the story loop that was written for you. That got me thinking, that is what most people are living out everyday. We are mostly moist robots (Scott Adam's term) caught in our own story loops. Is your story loop that you have no time to start your freedom business, but you will as soon as you're done with X? Is your story loop that you just can't think of a business idea or audience you'd want to create value for? Are you stuck in the story loop of collecting tons of information that you will use "one day" once you gather enough and that "one day" never comes? Is your story loop that you are not good enough to change people's lives with fascinating and useful content? If you are stuck in these endless story loops you are in danger of feeling the dreaded, "death's door" emotion: Regret. There are a group of people out in the world that are waiting for you to break free of those negative story loops and help them change their lives. If I hadn't broke free of my bullshit, restrictive story loops you wouldn't be reading this right now, the Freedom Club wouldn't exist and I wouldn't have been able to help the people I've helped. Your audience is waiting for you right now. The loop ends when you take a small action towards what you really desire. Take that action now. http://www.FreedomClubVIP.com Jeremy Frandsen World Leader in Freedom Business Education

Paul Thek. /// Paul Thek (1933–1988) is considered an artist with cult status. The hitherto most comprehensive retrospective of his oeuvre focused on the phenomenal effect of his work on contemporary art and established Thek's historical significance, from legendary outsider to the founder and center of an art movement. It has been possible to bring together more than 300 of Thek’s works, which are largely in private ownership and therefore only seldom publicly shown. In their anti-heroic diversity and multimediality, and with their references to art, literature, and religion, his works (painting, photography, video, sculpture, and extensive environments) are among the central sources for the revolt and eruption of art in the 1960s. It is mainly for this reason that one of the early theoretical masterpieces of this epoch, Susan Sontag's Against Interpretation (1962), was dedicated to him. The mold castings, also those of his own body parts, wax replicas of human tissue, hair, teeth, and bones in Plexiglas cases, which he produced between 1964 and 1967 as Technological Reliquaries, in their mixture of desire and repulsion, decay and pathos, held up the truth of the body to the world of commodities and the transfiguration of the everyday, as well as the idealization and dramatization of corporative minimal art. Curated by Roland Groenenboom, freelance curator and Thek expert, Gregor Jansen, ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art and Harald Falckenberg, Hamburg, with the assistance of Axel Heil and Margrit Brehm.
