TDA The David Alliance TDAgiantSlayer@Gmail.com Garth Heckman Title: Created to Be You: Embracing God's Design Introduction: Begin by acknowledging that in today's world, there's a lot of pressure to conform, to fit into certain molds. But what does God's Word say about our individuality? Ask the group: "Have you ever felt pressure to be someone you're not? Where does that pressure come from?" Scripture Readings: Psalm 139:13-16: "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Discussion points: What does it mean to be "fearfully and wonderfully made"? How does this passage emphasize God's intentionality in creating each of us? How does the fact that God saw your "unformed body" and ordained your days, indicate his personal involvement in our lives? Genesis 1:27: "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." I have learned early on if I am singing a song that I wrote… don't worry about how my voice lines up to anyone else's… Do you think Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Kim Carnes, Ronnie James Dio, Louis Armstrong, Tom Waits, Stephen Pearcy… I could go on and on… do you think they wished they sounded like Adelle? NOT a chance, they would not be famous right now… they are themselves and famous because of it. If I preach a sermon… I have many times wished I could preach like other pastors and communicators… their set up, their delivery, their insight, their knowledge beyond scripture… WOW… but I have learned I am always at my best when I am just me. Discussion points: What does it mean to be created "in God's image”? IT TRULY MEANS TO BE WHO HE CREATED YOU TO BE. How does this verse establish our inherent worth and dignity? How does this verse indicate that all humans have value, and are created uniquely? 1 Corinthians 12:12-27: This passage speaks of the body of Christ, with each member having a unique and vital function. Discussion points: How does this analogy illustrate the importance of our individual gifts and contributions? How does this passage encourage us to value our differences and recognize our interdependence? How does this apply to our individual personalities, and giftings? Romans 12:2: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Discussion points: What does it mean to "not conform to the pattern of this world"? How does the renewing of our minds help us embrace our true selves? How does knowing God's will relate to being our authentic selves? Key Takeaways: God's intentional design: God created each of us with unique gifts, talents, and personalities. Value in individuality: Our differences are not flaws but essential parts of God's plan. Freedom from conformity: We are called to live authentically, not to imitate the world's standards. God's image: Each person bears the image of God, therefore each person has great value. The body of Christ: Our individual uniqueness is vital to the body of Christ. Application: Encourage participants to reflect on their own unique qualities and how they can use them to serve God and others. Discuss practical ways to resist the pressure to conform and embrace their true selves. Pray for the group, that they may find the strength to be whom God created them to be. Closing: Remind everyone that God loves them unconditionally and celebrates their individuality. Encourage them to walk in confidence, knowing that they are fearfully and wonderfully made

Graham Bonnet in conversation with David Eastaugh English rock singer. He has recorded and performed as a solo artist and as a member of several rocks bands including Rainbow, Michael Schenker Group, Alcatrazz, and Impellitteri. He is known for his powerful singing voice but is capable of also singing soft melodies. In 1979, Bonnet was approached to join Sweet to replace Brian Connolly. However, he was chosen by Ritchie Blackmore to replace Ronnie James Dio as the vocalist of hard rock band Rainbow. This was something of a musical departure for Bonnet, who had previously identified himself more as an R&B singer. Bonnet would later credit his time in Rainbow and his collaboration with Blackmore, in particular, as fundamentally changing his musical outlook to a more hard rock focus. He sang on the Down to Earth LP, which would become his most successful album. It spawned two hit singles in 1979 and 1980: "Since You Been Gone" and "All Night Long". During Bonnet's time in the band, Rainbow also headlined the inaugural Monsters of Rock festival at Donington Park, Castle Donington.

Send us a text The podcast features Jim McCourt, drummer for the band Metal Luscious, discussing his journey into drumming, his influences, and the music scene in South Florida. Jim recalls being inspired by bands like Iron Maiden and Motley Crue in the 1980s, which led him to persistently ask his parents for a drum set. After years of playing with friends and local bands, Jim became involved in tribute bands, particularly for metal acts such as Dio and W.A.S.P., and he now regularly performs with cover bands in the Florida music scene. Jim emphasizes the importance of playing live and collaborating with others, noting the evolving music landscape. He also shares anecdotes about his experiences, including meeting legendary artists like Ronnie James Dio and working with Joey Belladonna of Anthrax. Jim highlights the camaraderie among musicians and the balance between playing original music and covers in tribute acts. We also put him through, In Four Beats or Less:1. The second part of Ian's chat with Paul Shortino in which he gives us a fascinating insight to his landmark appearance at Hear N'Aid (America's rock equivalent to Band Aid), as well as detailing the close association with his mentor, Ronnie James Dio. Apart from Paul's infectious personality, enjoy more good music and commentary from his solo career and numerous collaborations including Carmine Appice's band, King Kobra. “That has changed recently. Russ Ballard gave me chills every night on Rock Meets Classic when I heard him sing “You Can Do Magic”. It has have to be his version, no one else's version of song. “ Paul Shortino's response when asked “what is your favourite song of all time?”
Seth and Marc invite past guest favorite Doug (and Rebecca!) to discuss the strangely religious Holy Diver by Dio. Tigers and stripes and hearts and a midnight sea. What the hell? Special Guest: Doug Davison.

Just as soon as Ronnie James Dio returned to Black Sabbath for the Dehumanizer record, he just as quickly departed again to make room (also again) for the return of Tony Martin. Given the spottiness (to be generous) of previous Martin led Sabbath albums we were skeptical and not necessarily excited about diving into Cross Purposes however, our concerns were quickly alleviated. From Track One / Side One, "I Witness” on, the might and heaviness of Black Sabbath is back and there is now a seemingly newly discovered restraint in Martin's vocal performance. Most of it all, Cross Purposes sounds like a capital “S" Sabbath album. While the constant across every album is Tony Iommi, the constant across all the great to good Sabbath albums is Geezer Butler. The Geez is the special Sabbath sauce! On the 53rd Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & special guest, rock journalist, author and fellow Pantheon podcaster, Martin Popoff review the 1981 rock album by Rainbow, "Difficult To Cure." Rainbow and was on its third incarnation by 1981. Rainbow was still led by one of the greatest guitarist of all time, Ritchie Blackmore. SIOL favorite Don Airey was still there on keyboards as was former bassist and chief lyricist, bassist Roger Glover. However, gone was drummer extraordinaire Cozy Powell and new singer Graham Bonnet, who only appeared on one album, the previously reviewed "Down To Earth", see Episode 25 of the Album Review Crew. Replacing Powell was American drummer, Bobby Rondinelli and replacing Bonnet, was another American, Joe Lynn Turner. JLT as he's known, gave Rainbow and even more commercial sound with his one of a kind melodic voice. Rainbow had come a long way from the Ronnie James Dio led Rainbow days. Ritchie wanted a more commercial band that could break through in America. Difficult To Cure's melodic sound was evident on the opening track, "I Surrender," another Russ Ballard song. The album featured a mixture of melodic, classical, hard rock and pop songs. There were two instrumental a signature of Ritchie Blackmore. The songs "Can't Happen Here" & "I Surrender" also received video plays, during the early days of MTV. The album was produced by Roger Glover and was the highest charting album in the UK for Rainbow and went Gold in the UK. As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and the album cover against the previous 51 albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew. This was Zeus' pick. So tune in to hear to hear a battle on instrumentals, Martin's hilarious dry sense of humor and a wardrobe discussion about whether something rivals early Bon Jovi tight jeans. Orange Goblin's Ben Ward is joining the MetalSucks Podcast this week! Their first new studio album in six years Science, Not Fiction is dropping on July 19 and we're here to discuss that and more! We talk about Ward's one and only chance meeting with the late Ronnie James Dio, which is a story in itself. We also get to talking about recording the metal lifer anthem and second single “Cemetery Rats”, how fitness infiltrating the scene has made a much more positive situation for many metalheads, playing shows sober and how it had a little bit of a learning curve. Naturally, we also talked about the mainstream media, the lies they present, and trying to discover the truth about events. Among other things, we also discuss how the band has its 30th anniversary approaching and some of his thoughts on that milestone. Petar and Brandon tackle Sebastian Bach's attack on fans' T-shirts at a recent concert, then his decision to double down on social media to explain why he was being a dick, Bon Jovi stating the obvious about Lzzy Hale performing with Skid Row, and this goddamn overpriced Slayer cooler that Petar's going to end up buying. Song: Orange Goblin “Cemetery Rats” Song: Kissin' Dynamite “The Devil Is A Woman” Song: X-Cops “Light Em Up” Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
