- I LA er Rage Against The Machines single “Killing In The Name of” selve kernen af en rasende rap metal-revolution, mens Bodycount heller ikke lægger fingre imellem på deres debutalbum. - Nirvanas Dave Grohl, Kurt Cobain og Alice in Chains-sanger Layne Staley dyrker danske Mercyful Fate i stor stil. “This is the 80's before the 80's was the 80's…”   Released April 18, 1980, HEAVEN AND HELL, the 9th studio album by BLACK SABBATH (and the first to feature Ronnie James Dio on vocals), marks a simultaneous sonic departure and rebirth for the Godfathers of Metal.    While some would argue that it sounds more like RJD's solo output and NOTHING like the Sabbath of the 70's, HEAVEN AND HELL is more than just “the next Sabbath album”.   Featuring fantastical & medieval lyrical themes coupled with a revitalized songwriting style and renewed vigor, HEAVEN AND HELL is a brilliant example of how a band in desperate need of a “heavy metal makeover” can completely reinvent their sound and expand their artistic palette to accommodate a brand-new chapter for a brand-new decade.   If you've got questions, we've got answers! Check out our newest segment, “ASK THE METALHEAD”.    Find out who might just be “the Yoda of metal”, discover which song absolutely must be played on misty mornings, and realize that “the anxiety of being around family” can only be rivaled by the disturbingly high readings captured on the “goddamnometer” when you JOIN US from The Bunkerpoon Center for Metal Excellence as we celebrate 46 years of the BLACK SABBATH Mark II lineup with HEAVEN AND HELL. During 2020, the longtime collaborators shifted focus from covers to original material, quickly writing ten songs and entering Sonic Stomp Studio with producer Mike Orlando (Category 7, Adrenaline Mob). Joined by drummer Joe D'Aqui, the group crafted a heavy, story-driven sound rooted in influences like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Alice in Chains, and Tool. Despite pandemic delays, the sessions yielded their debut full-length album Blame', released in October 2022.Following the addition of guitarists Bruce Gatewood and Johnny James Barone, the band gained traction with a heavier reimagining of Toto's “Hold the Line,” now their most-streamed track. Lineup changes continued with drummer Howie Fallon joining in 2024, bringing renewed chemistry and power, though tragedy struck later that year with the passing of Gatewood. In late 2024, Jimmy Kocha joined, filling the role of co-lead guitarist, solidifying the lineup that is currently in full force today. Honoring his legacy, the band pushed forward, releasing the Smoke & Mirrors EP in March 2025—a sharp, socially reflective six-song release. The group is currently at work on a new full-length album, slated for release in early 2026. Chapter 3: Pipeman interviews Southern California's newest force in melodic death metal, Ravenmocker, and their second single / music video “Where The Raven Flies” to follow their debut track "Infallible."The new single continues building the band's identity: soaring melody, cultural storytelling, and a modern take on the melodic death metal spirit once championed by acts like Children of Bodom, Insomnium, and Kalmah."Where The Raven Flies" is an anthemic, cinematic track that tells the origin story of the Raven Mocker, a cryptid from Adirondack and Cherokee lore. Known as a harbinger of death, the Raven Mocker feeds on the sick and dying, stealing the remaining years of its victims' lives. The single paints vivid imagery of the creature soaring over forests and villages, acting as both reaper and omen.Click Here to Subscribe to The Adventures of Pipeman for PERKS, BONUS Content & FREE GIVEWAYS! Pipeman in the Pit is a music, festival, and interview segment of The Adventures of Pipeman Radio Show (#pipemanradio) and from The King of All Festivals while on The Pipeman Radio Tour. Pipeman in the Pit features all kinds of music and interviews with bands & music artists especially in the genres of Heavy Metal, Rock, Hard Rock, Classic Rock, Punk Rock, Goth, Industrial, Alternative, Thrash Metal & Indie Music.

The world of rock music has long been saturated with Occult imagery, mysticism and dark spiritual themes, and in some cases the stories go far beyond the stage theatrics and album art. Some of the most startling claims have come not from outsiders, but from the artists themselves. In interviews Ronnie James Dio included descriptions of rituals connected to guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. He even described a ritual in which they used to summon the ancient entity known as Baal. So on this episode, what we want to discuss is the spiritual ramifications of dabbling in the occult and whether or not some of these artists really know what they're getting themselves into.

BEYOND PURPLE performs a showcase of the biggest hits from Deep Purple and Whitesnake, as well as Rainbow and Dio; all born out of the Deep Purple family tree. The band faithfully re-creates the vivid experience of live, high-energy music from what many consider to be Rock's greatest era. Beyond Purple consists of elite musicians with national ties, including guitarist Jimi Bell (Autograph, House of Lords); his amazing skills and prowess on guitar are truly world class. Mike Gill (Livesay, Johnny A.) is the lead voice of the band, with powerful soaring vocals in the style of Ian Gillan, David Coverdale, Graham Bonnet, Joe Lynn Turner, and Ronnie James Dio. His energetic stage presence brings every song to life. Drummer BJ Zampa (Dokken, House of Lords) pounds out thunderous beats with a huge groove that locks in the band on every note; he also contributes harmony vocals. Bassist Brian Camilleri rounds out the rhythm section, laying down the low-end thunder and locking in with BJ, to create a solid musical foundation. Welcome Gary Fox Jr. on keyboards and backing vocals, a long standing member of legendary Led Zeppelin tribute “Physical Graffiti”. His talent is beyond amazing.    Their high energy show fully engages the crowd, with accurate song renditions that capture the raw energy and power that has made this style of music one of the most popular of all time. For info:https://www.beyondpurpleband.com/:

We also discuss his amazing roster of past guitarists (Blackmore, Schenker, Malmsteen and Vai), his upcoming duet with Bruce Dickinson, his fascination with science fiction and the songs beyond the hits that he considers personal favorites.Created and Produced by Jared Tuten

Look, it's really simple. The Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame hates and disrespects heavy metal. We don't. We believe that metal is one of the cornerstones in the history of rock n roll and we also need to point out the fact that it's one of the most globally-beloved genres of music. We think it's a crime that the bands highlighted in this week's playlist have been snubbed by the bluenoses and weenies that run the rock hall. Get them in! Listen to us state our cases for some obviously unjustly snubbed metal bands in Top Ten Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame Snubs: All Metal Edition Part 2, featuring our metal-loving pal Nick Baker.
