Listeners of Seltzer Squad - Staying Sober In The City that love the show mention: sobriety journey,The Seltzer Squad - Staying Sober In The City podcast has been an incredibly helpful resource for me on my sobriety journey. Jes and Kate, the hosts of the podcast, have become like old friends to me as they provide wisdom, honesty, laughs, and sobriety tips. I've been listening to this podcast since I got sober 2.5 years ago and it has been with me every step of the way. No one in my life understands what I'm going through quite like Jes and Kate do.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is how relatable and down to Earth Jes and Kate are. They make me feel like I'm not alone in my sobriety journey and that it's okay to have fun while being sober. Their conversations cover a wide range of topics related to sobriety and every episode feels different. It's like catching up with a couple of friends who just happen to be sober.
Another great aspect of this podcast is the honesty with which Jes and Kate share their experiences with sobriety. They don't shy away from discussing the tough parts of being sober or living through a pandemic without alcohol. Their sincerity shines through in every episode and it makes me feel understood and supported.
However, there is one issue that I have with this podcast regarding its coverage of eating disorder and dieting recovery in sobriety. As an ex-ED sufferer in recovery, I was upset and triggered by some of the conversation around diets, fatness, weight loss, and gain during the pandemic in one particular episode (Episode 98). The terminology used was troubling to me and I would love to see more open debate and inclusivity when it comes to this issue.
In conclusion, The Seltzer Squad - Staying Sober In The City podcast has been an invaluable resource for me on my sobriety journey. Despite my criticism regarding its coverage of eating disorder and dieting recovery, I truly appreciate Jes and Kate for creating this space and providing me with the wisdom, honesty, laughs, and sobriety tips that I need to stay sober. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone who is on their own journey to sobriety.
