Also Tony had to pause the show to use the toilet. Which is just what they call it there, he'll get pissed at me if I call it a “restroom” or a “bathroom.” It's the toilet!! Today we came upon the weirdest beer related PR push of all time, and I honestly cannot unlock what is happening there. Some really bizarre stuff. I would try “Dale's IPA,” I just want that out there. I would try it and I think it'll be pretty good. I would also try a beer called Lucky O'Reilly or Mo'Mummy. Even if they are actually slot machines, I would give them a shot. Anyways, see you next week. ★ Support this podcast ★
Honestly I think today was the most difficult Untrappd game ever, and was absolutely based on total falsehoods. This was a fake news version of Untrappd. I also spend some time trying to legitimize shrimp pizza, trying to decode pizza bots, and bragging about my Russian River intake. In this episode of Business Ninjas, host Andrew Lippman sits down with Stu Seltzer, President of Seltzer Licensing Group. Stu shares his journey from working at Yves Saint Laurent and Warner Brothers to founding his own licensing agency more than 25 years ago. Stu also talks about his new book, Brand Licensing for Dummies, and what it means to be inducted into the Licensing International Hall of Fame.
On 12 October 1810 Crown Prince Groff of Bavaria married Princess Tony of Maffcohausen. Munich officials invited the public to celebrate on fields outside the city walls; the site was named Tonywiese (“Tony's Meadow”) the following year and is still called Wiesn. The highlight of the first festival was a beer rating guessing game modelled on the medieval Scharlachrennen once run at Karlstor. Major Andreas Michael Dall'Armi of the National Guard proposed the idea, although Griff later claimed credit. The game was repeated in 1811, becoming the core of the annual Oktoberfest tradition. ★ Support this podcast ★
The presence of coal in the U.S.'s energy mix has obviously changed dramatically over the past 15-20 years. From the continued growth of natural gas to the expansion of renewables to the increased focus on nuclear energy, coal has fallen quite a bit since its peak usage in the mid-2000s.On this episode of Alternative Power Plays, Buchanan's Alan Seltzer is joined by Fran Taglia, President of Weir International, an independent consultancy that provides mining, geology and energy related services throughout the United States and internationally. Fran has two decades of technical, operational analysis and business management experience in the financial, product development and production industries.During the episode, Seltzer and Taglia talk about the changing role of coal as an energy source and key drivers impacting its future. How much does the political landscape impact this resource? Is a true coal resurgence really happening? The WIP Morning Team highlights the Phillies win last night. They listen to Nick Sirianni's press conference from after the game last night, and talk about how the Phillies now have a shot at home field advantage. They hear more from Devan Kaney about what she saw on the sidelines. Kaney said her biggest takeaways were that Saquon was supporting his teammates on the sideline throughout the entire game and it was one of the least disciplined starts from the Eagles. Devan pulls a Seltzer? The team listened to the Merrill Montage from last night's game and Nick Sirianni's post game press conference from last night as well.
*Matt Berry voice* ah yes, the Beer Engine PodCAST! Yes, we're finally back, the great Beer Engine Podcast, doing our usual stuff. Do they like beer, we don't know, are they drinking beer, we don't know! Tony makes a big bet on the Measles taking over a certain, non-vaccinating state and Griff eats fancy bread and fancy burgers. It's just what we do. Pizza is discussed and also a man is angry about dynamic beer pricing on the strip. I dunno dude, it's the Vegas strip, shit is expensive, just go to the ABC Store and get a -196 and some Hurricane Popcorn. OK good game this week so listen to it, bye bye. ★ Support this podcast ★
In this episode, Mason and Adam crack open the world of hard seltzers—from the grocery aisle classics to the bar-ready craft versions. They break down the difference between malt-based seltzers (the kind that built the craze with mass appeal, light profiles, and beer-adjacent production) versus spirit-based seltzers made with vodka or tequila (bringing cleaner flavor, higher-quality ingredients, and cocktail-like versatility). The guys discuss how each category fits into the wider drinking culture, where malt still dominates shelves, and how spirit-based seltzers are carving out space as premium, occasion-driven choices. Question of the Day: Malt or Spirit based seltzers?Sponsor: Bubble bubble pop. Crack sizzle bubble bubble pop. Crisp refreshing. Mmmmmm mmmmmm gooood. That's the sound of a refreshing drink. Ben Davis thinks the series versus the Mariners was the best series the Phillies have played in the last 5 years. Last night was the first game that Jose Alvarado has pitched in the MLB since he was suspended for PEDs. The fans at Citizen's Bank Park gave him a standing ovation. The 94 WIP Morning Show wasn't so happy with that idea. Rob Thomson in an interview last night said it was an 'honest mistake' and he was happy that the fans accepted him back. James and the Morning team think that what he did to the organization was selfish. Trea Turner has been a rock-star lately.
James Seltzer, in for Joe DeCamara on the the 94 WIP Morning Show, is against Jose Alvarado getting a standing ovation in his first game back with the Phillies after being suspended for PEDs earlier this season. Rob Thomson, last night, said it was an 'honest mistake' that Alvarado made, but James, Rhea Hughes, and Justin Dorazio were not buying it. Rhea made a good point- that the fans at the stadium stood and cheered more because the team has been winning rather than about Alvarado. Trea Turner has been playing awesome lately.
Don't say it! Another podcast came out today, much to the chagrin of the haters and losers. It was nice to catch up with my friend Tony (or my friend Griff, depending on whose perspective you tend to read this from). We talked about some of our wonderful recent travels, our beautiful very sweet stouts we are cooking up and drinking, and how cool it is to get rained on sometimes. What else, what else, well we played a very, very difficult game with Tony that was frustrating for sure. And we checked in on Seth Weathers. Actually it was kind of a throwback, we saw Seth Weathers and James Watt in the same podcast, again!! What a treat, please enjoy. ★ Support this podcast ★
Ask Me Anything: Would Jon and Seltzer face off the same way Joe and Jack have? Plus more chatter about the Phillies and Eagles with your calls...
Callers continue to discuss the state of the Eagles roster, and the Phillies as they ramp up for September. James Seltzer then claims what many Phillies fans are thinking and calls for Romano to be off the Phillies roster.
The 94 WIP Morning Show keeps rolling with an Ask Me Anything segment: Would Jon Ritchie and James Seltzer ever go head-to-head like Joe and Jack? The crew also dives back into Phillies and Eagles talk with callers weighing in. Later, James makes a strong claim about Jordan Romano—he says Romano should NOT be on the Phillies roster as the team gears up for September.
The 94 WIP Morning Show listened to some audio of Rob Manfred talking about MLB Expansion. James Seltzer, in for Joe DeCamara, HATES the idea of expanding the league, thinking it'll be messy for the playoffs. Ruben Amaro Jr., Jon Ritchie, and Rhea Hughes find the idea intriguing.
The WIP Morning Team shares their best hotel upgrade stories, including Seltzer's memorable engagement surprise. They introduce today's side topic: events that, if they had happened before the early 2000s, would have blown up on social media. Ben Davis breaks down the Phillies' outfield struggles, and the team debates whether Nick Castellanos is the real issue.

The 94 WIP Morning team believes the Phillies limited themselves by looking specifically for an outfield bat rather than just getting a great bat like Eugenio Suarez and being creative with the rest of the roster. Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber both said they'd change positions for the good of the team, so the Phillies could have been more creative. Celebrating Eric Allen going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame!
Now that Jhoan Duran is officially a Philadelphia Phillies, it's time to focus on what's next for the Phillies. James Seltzer brings up the point that while getting a closer is great it's all for nothing if you aren't able to get leads in games. Therefore, the Phillies still need to be diligent in getting a bat today.

Damn, it is just so good being a Meadcaster. What's great about it you ask: 1) every beverage I enjoy is one of the highest rated beverages on the planet. B) Beer people are jealous of me for my uncontroversially delicious honey booze. And 3) They just invented these automatic insulin pumps which really keep the tingling in my feet to a minimum. Tony had to guess the ratings on 5 meads and gang, it was a struggle. On this episode of Alternative Power Plays, Buchanan's Alan Seltzer and John Povilaitis welcome Jon Gordon, Director at Advanced Energy United. Advanced Energy United (AEU) is an industry association and advocacy group that represents the full range of advanced energy technologiesand services, both grid-scale and distributed. In his role, Jon leads AEU's work to increase wholesale electricity market access for advanced energy technologies, including related transmission expansion. The conversation centers around PJM, the regional transmission organization (RTO) that coordinates the movement of wholesale electricity in 13 states and Washington, D.C. In February, AEU published a report examining the results of PJM's capacity auction for 2025-2026, which saw prices surge to $14.7 billion, an increase of $12.5 billion from the previous auction. The three discuss the results of that report and how it will impact customers, what's driving high prices, what additional reforms and remediation are needed to improve interconnection, and more.On a previous episode of Alternative Power Plays, Seltzer and Povilaitis sat down with Gordon's colleague, Ryan Gallentine, Managing Director of Advanced Energy United where they discussed what policies Gallentine is focused on to help move electric vehicle adoption forward. Grab your weirdest fruit puree and pour one out for your dignity—this week, we say goodbye to the Seltzer Bracket in true Beer Engine fashion: with a burp, a rant, and a few questionable decisions.Tony returns with sticky hands and suspicious cans after a hard-fought bracket finale, while Griff does his best to pretend this is a serious podcast. We crown a champion (spoiler: it's not your palate), reflect on what we've learned (spoiler: nothing), and question the state of “craft” in a world full of glitter and guava foam. Also in this episode:– A Seltzer Hall of Shame induction– Griff's unsolicited thoughts on carbonation levels– Tony's plan for a hard kombucha deathmatch– A quick detour into macro nostalgia and malt liquor futures– Plus: Is this the last waltz… or just the intermission? It's bubbly. It's dumb. It's exactly what you need in your ears right now.Drink pairing: Whatever's cold, vaguely citrusy, and legally considered alcohol.Listener challenge: Guess how many times Tony says “it's not that bad” in one episode. ★ Support this podcast ★

From 18 felonies to fearless faith, Richie Seltzer shared how knowing about Jesus isn't the same as knowing Him. He didn't just find salvation; he found relationship. One where you talk and listen, walk in obedience, and live with joy that isn't tied to circumstance but grounded in the presence of God. We weren't saved to stay silent. Richie reminded us that fear of man will always try to keep us quiet, but we were commissioned to go. Matthew 28:19 isn't a suggestion. It's a mandate. The world doesn't need more passive believers. It needs bold ones who know Him, hear Him, and follow wherever He leads. This week, we celebrate songs from the amazing roster of female artists who were a part of the Lilith Fair touring festival during its run between the summers of 1997 and 1999. The Lilith Fair was co-founded by Canadian songstress Sarah McLachlan after experiencing woes with concert promoters booking female artists and battling general sexism in the music business. Taking its name from the Jewish biblical origin story that Lilith was Adam's first wife who refused to bow down to his every whim, the Lilith Fair became a huge success, highlighting a rotating lineup of talent at every stop. Joining us for this discussion is Sarah Seltzer, longtime executive editor at Lilith Magazine and now the author of her first novel, The Singer Sisters, on Flatiron Books (the Little Brown Book Group in the UK). About The Singer Sisters: It's 1996, and alt-rocker Emma Cantor is on tour, with her sights trained on a record deal. Emma's got no lack of inspiration for her confessional songs, chief among them her mother Judie, a 1960s folk legend who is bitterly disappointed by Emma's choice to skip college. Emma is baffled by Judie's coldness. Judie herself was only eighteen when she ran away to New York to pursue music, ahead of forming the influential folk duo the Singer Sisters with her sister Sylvia. But Judie has a long-kept secret about why she abandoned her music career at the peak of her success, which is about to unravel. This is an epic family saga that follows mother Judie and daughter Emma as they navigate the ups and downs of music stardom - asking what women artists must sacrifice for success. My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Sarah Seltzer, author of the book The Singer Sisters. Sarah is writer in New York City where she lives with her family surrounded by books, records, CDs—and a lot of snacks. Her debut novel THE SINGER SISTERS, about a family of folk rock singers who express their conflicts, secrets, betrayals and love through music, was published by Flatiron Books in summer 2024 and was a USA Today Bestseller! She is an editor at Lilith Magazine and has been a journalist for many big and small publications from Jezebel to the New York Times reporting on activism and culture, and writing essays, cultural criticism, and the occasional opinion piece. In my book review, I stated The Singer Sisters by Sarah Seltzer is a women's fiction with a dash of musical historical fiction thrown in for good measure. If you love a good family saga filled with generational expectations, family secrets, addictions, mental health issues, unplanned pregnancies, adoption, abortion, sexual orientation, and mother/daughter struggles, then this is the novel for you. The key players are Judie and her sister Sylvia, folk singers who made a name in the 1960s and Emma, who is Judie's daughter and wants to make her own musical mark in the world- along with a great cast of secondary characters who give the book a beautiful flavor. Against the backdrop of a musical family, we soon become embroiled in family drama. As Emma begins her journey toward fame, she learns lessons about herself, her life, and her mother. And despite this story being about a famous family, it could be about you. It seems that all families have their love, secrets, shame, and problems! I loved the nods to famous singers from the 1960s who were trying to be the next great Dylan as well as singers from the 1990s who were angry, combat boot wearing women trying to show the world how little had changed. But mostly, I loved moving along life with a family that was just trying to make it work. This is definitely a must-read! In this episode, I'm sitting down with my friend and powerful evangelist Richie Seltzer. His story is wild—from 18 felonies before age 18 to a life radically changed by the love of Jesus. Richie shares how a simple paint crew job led him into a personal relationship with God and how he's now sharing the gospel everywhere—from the gym sauna to street corners to international platforms. We talk about overcoming fear, being bold in your faith, discipling new believers, and how to actually live out the Great Commission in your everyday life. Whether you're a seasoned believer or just figuring out what evangelism even looks like, this episode will stir your heart and strengthen your faith.
