Teacher: John Schoenheit The birth of Christ is a very important subject, and the traditional Christmas story surrounding it not only contains a large amount of error, but it also presents a cold, hard, and lonely picture about the circumstances of Jesus' arrival. In reality, his birth was an account of love, warmth, giving and sharing, and obeying God. In this teaching on The Real Christmas Story, John Schoenheit explores this familiar record in a deeper, more accurate light—understanding the customs, time and place, and the not-often-known details that truly make the birth of Christ such an inspiring and wonderful account. We pray this teaching will bless and inspire you and offer new insight into the birth of our Savior and the details surrounding the beginning of his life. Teacher: John Schoenheit There is a belief within Christian denominations that we don't deserve and should not pursue happiness in this life, or that the Bible says we aren't supposed to enjoy ourselves—life should only be taken seriously and sober-mindedly at all times. But is that really God's intention for us? In this teaching on It's Okay To Enjoy Your Life, John Schoenheit explores a godly and biblical perspective on happiness in this life—how God relates to it, what He wants us to experience in this life, and how He designed us both to labor and to feel joy and rejoice as His children dancing before Him. We pray this teaching will inspire deep joy and happiness in your life and in your walk with our Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ! Teacher: Dennis Hickman The following is a live teaching recorded from our Thursday night virtual fellowship. If you're interested in learning more about this weekly online fellowship, please visit stfonline.org/fellowship. In this teaching on No Retirement, Dennis Hickman explores the importance of our individual calling and how each of us is redeemed to a lifelong service to Jesus. This calling is not that we were preordained, but that we were invited into service and relationship with our Lord—a commitment from which we don't get to retire, just like Jesus did not retire when he ascended to the Father's right hand! We pray this teaching will inspire you deeply to walk in your vital personal calling as you live out your life in relationship with our Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ! Teacher: John Schoenheit “Hear O Israel, Yahweh is our God, Yahweh alone!” – is not just a declaration to Israel; it is a statement about relationship. It tells us something about God that helps us define our relationship with Him.In this teaching on The Shema: the Heartbeat of Israel, John Schoenheit shares three aspects of the Shema: what it is not saying, what it is saying, and how it applies to our lives. To understand the implications and impact of the Shema on both Jewish and Christian history, this teaching explores its meaning through the Biblical Unitarian perspective, highlighting what it reveals about our God and our relationship with Him. We hope this teaching will help illuminate the deeper, profound meaning of this passage in Deuteronomy and will strengthen your relationship with Yahweh as you seek to love Him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. Teacher: Jeff Tyler Philippians is a wonderful part of the Church Epistles, a letter penned by Paul with an abundance of encouragement and instruction for believers. One of the greatest aspects of Philippians is the depth of exploration into joy and endurance and how, through our reliance on Jesus and our unity with him, we can all have a godly mindset and approach to life no matter what situations we face. In this teaching on “Live Joyfully in Every Circumstance,” Jeff Tyler shares an overview of the letter of Paul to the Philippians, exploring the themes of this wonderful book of the Bible, the heart from which Paul was writing during this difficult phase of his life and ministry, and the lessons we can learn about living joyfully in tough times as well. We pray this teaching will bring you fresh understanding and insight about the Letter to the Philippians, help you embrace a joyful mindset no matter what happens in life, and will ultimately help strengthen your walk with the Lord. Teacher: John Schoenheit Zechariah 14:6-7 speak of a “unique” day known only to Yahweh. Our God has quite a challenge to take on: restore our fallen world, with its many flaws, to the state of “Paradise” as it was in the Garden of Eden. But God is up to the challenge and it will only take Him one “unique” day to do it. In this three-part teaching, John Schoenheit explores that day: first the reasons why this sort of material is often scattered throughout many books of the Bible; then a brief overview of the End Times and when the “unique day” will happen; and lastly, what at least part of the unique day will involve. God has shown us a lot about the future He has in store through His Word, but it is not in one place or even in chronological order, which can make it very difficult to grasp. Nevertheless, with prayer and patient scholarship, the pieces do come together to a large extent. We pray this teaching will help bring some of those pieces together in a fulfilling way such that you can envision how life will play out in the future and learn more about the wonderful earth we will live on one day. Teacher: John Schoenheit It's important to every Christian's walk that we understand the meaning of righteousness, especially as it's used in the New Testament. While the use of “righteousness” was often blended in the Old Testament and Gospels, it has two distinct meanings in the New Testament Epistles: having a right standing in the sight of God, and doing right by God and others. In this teaching on “Righteousness: Doing Right by God and People”, John Schoenheit focuses in on the aspects of righteousness centered around treating God and other people right. Through this teaching, we strive for three particular outcomes: that we will all better understand righteousness and what it is; that we would better understand the Bible and its passages that talk about righteousness; and that we would have a better understanding of what God wants from us. When we are firm in these three things, it will help us to treat both God and people around us in a just, upright, and godly way—which will help us to be better servants of our God and better witnesses for Him and His Son. Teacher: John Schoenheit On the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2, God started the Christian Church. Peter taught about who Jesus Christ was and what had happened to him, and everyone who believed God had raised Jesus from the dead and made him Lord was born again and added to the brand new Christian Church. On Pentecost, the gift of holy spirit was poured out from heaven in a brand new way, and everyone who believed received the holy spirit and the power that came with it. In this teaching, John Schoenheit examines the Day of Pentecost from different angles, both historical and practical, including the names of Pentecost in the Old Testament, the offerings and what they signified, and presents clear evidence that on the Day of Pentecost the Apostles were not in an upper room, but in the Temple itself. In conclusion, this teaching covers the significance of Pentecost in the life of believers today, especially in light of the manifestations of the gift of holy spirit. Teacher: Jeff Tyler God's plan of redemption and salvation means that when we are saved, we become part of God's family. In that, everyone has a gift ministry, a service to perform—something God has equipped and enabled them to do. God encourages us to grow up and serve Him by using our gifts and talents to build up the body of Christ. In this teaching titled “Stir Up the Gift,” Jeff Tyler approaches the subject of our gift ministries in four parts: A background on stirring up the gift; what it means to stir up the gift; looking at keys to recognizing our individual gifts, callings, and service; and ways our gifts can be used and fitted together to glorify God and build up the Body of Christ. We pray this teaching will be a tremendous blessing to you, and that it will help you to gain a clearer and more profound understanding of your gift ministry, the gifts of those around you, and how we all fit and work together to the praise of God's glory. Teacher: John Schoenheit "What is the Rapture? Do we know when it will occur? Does the Bible ever reference the Rapture directly, and if so, where? Why is it called “the Rapture” in the first place, and who will be involved in this glorious occasion? If you’ve ever wondered about any of these things, this teaching is for you! In this teaching on “What About The Rapture?” John Schoenheit takes a deeper look into the biblical evidence for the Rapture, including its purpose, meaning, places where it is referenced in Scripture, and more. The Rapture is a great part of every Christian’s hope, and we pray that a scriptural understanding of what it is and the intricacies surrounding it will help you find a deeper anticipation for the future and an even greater love for all the wonderful things our Heavenly Father has in store for us!" Teacher: Jeff Tyler The following is a Live teaching recorded from our Thursday night virtual fellowship. If you’re interested in learning more about this weekly online fellowship, please email us at stf@stfoneline.org. Love is one of the prevailing themes of Scripture, and in few places is this more apparent than in the Book of Ephesians. When we dive deep into the story of God’s purpose for the ages, and the call for mankind to walk worthy of their part in it, the love of God becomes undeniably clear! In this teaching on “Experiencing Ephesians in Love,” Jeff Tyler explores the themes of love woven throughout the Book of Ephesians. Taking a deeper look into many passages surrounding the story of God’s purpose through the ages, this teaching unfurls a powerful love story between God and mankind through paths of redemption, promise, calling, restoration, commission, and other incredible themes. We hope this teaching will help you to fathom and experience the love of God in new and profound ways that will ultimately strengthen your walk with Him! Teacher: John Schoenheit What is the greatest gift that you as an individual have ever been given? In the grand scheme of things, it’s everlasting life! With the Christmas season just past and the topic of gifts and gift-giving still on everyone’s mind, the subject of evangelism becomes more timely than ever. How can you help someone receive the greatest gift—everlasting life? In this teaching on Evangelism: The Greatest Gift, John Schoenheit explores the topic of evangelism from many angles, including: God’s perspective, why evangelism is so important, why it’s risky, and why it’s ultimately worth it. Included as well in this teaching are helpful, practical tips on how to be an ambassador for Christ in a way that engages people and helps show them the love, power, and reality of God. We pray that this teaching will bless, inspire, and empower you to be a living witness for Christ! Teacher: Dennis Hickman The Church Epistles, Romans through Thessalonians, sets forth all of the truth, background, and details on the Sacred Secret. The Book of Ephesians sits at the apex of all communication regarding the Sacred Secret, the One Body nature of the Christian church, and the life we have as believers who are part of that Body of Christ with Jesus at the head. Chapters 1-3 of Ephesians explores our position in Christ, and Chapter 1, in particular, lays out the train of thought regarding our place in God’s plan and in His family. In this three-part teaching on The Seal of God’s Ownership, Dennis Hickman first presents an overview of Ephesians 1:3-14; he then takes a more detailed look into this segment of Scripture; and finally, he explores a particular word in verse 13 to better understand what God is trying to communicate to us by using it. Our position with God and the promises He has made by sealing our salvation are important aspects of the Christian walk, and we hope that this teaching on what it means to be sealed will bring great peace and joy to your life. Teachers: The Theisen Family We are so blessed and excited to share this LIVE teaching from the 2018 STF National Event! In this three-part teaching on Ephesians 5:21-6:4, the Theisen Family explores the topic of unity and our Christian walk as it pertains to the family. In the first segment, Gary & Karen Theisen bring their insight on the interplay of care, respect, and submission between husbands and wives, what that looks like in a healthy relationship, and why these demonstrations of love are so important to God. In the second segment, Grace Theisen addresses the parent/child relationship, how our earthly parental relationships reflect our relationship with God as His children, and why an intimate bond with our Creator is essential to our wellbeing. In the final segment, Caitlyn Theisen explores the master/servant relationship, the necessity for love and care, honor and respect, and how God cares for us as we serve Him. Teachers: John Schoenheit The Book of Ezekiel can be very difficult to understand. It is a deeply detailed section of Scripture that requires a lot of attention, but there are many lessons we can learn if we take the time in prayer and research to better comprehend both the content and background of Ezekiel’s life and visions. In this teaching on “A Look into Ezekiel,” John Schoenheit gives a basic start into understanding the Book of Ezekiel, particularly through the background and opening chapter. We pray that this teaching will help you to gain a deeper insight and appreciation for this wonderfully detailed, inspiring book. Teacher: Dennis Hickman The subject of free will is an important one to our Christian walk as it helps us to fully understand God’s interaction with mankind now and throughout the ages past. Freedom of will has a powerful impact on our relationship with God and our understanding of Him, because He wants us to voluntarily choose to love Him and be a part of His family. In this teaching, Dennis Hickman covers the subject of free will in the Bible and Christian life, exploring how it effects God’s interplay with mankind as we are given the day-to-day freewill choice whether to honor God and do His will, or to accomplish our own agenda. It is our prayer that this teaching will be a tremendous blessing to you. Teachers: John Schoenheit The Body of Christ is a family, and God calls us to elevate our fellow Christians through our actions, speech, and conduct. The New Testament gives many commands about how to relate to one another, but much of Christianity doesn’t realize that the phrase “one another” refers specifically to Christians. Scripture tells us that people will know we are followers of Christ through the love that we have for one another, and God calls us to act on that love in tangible ways. In this teaching titled “Blessing One Another,” John Schoenheit offers a challenge to think of real and practical ways to help other Christians. Exploring many of the instances where “one another” is used in the New Testament, this teaching offers practical advice for how we can best support and uplift one another in genuine, palpable love on our journey to obey God and strengthen the Body of Christ. Teacher: John Schoenheit The subject of rewards in the coming Kingdom of Christ on earth is not very well understood, and for a number of reasons. Perhaps the biggest one is the common teaching that people go to heaven when they die and live there forever—but without any certainty of what we will be doing all that time. But the teaching of the Bible is that Christ will fight Armageddon, conquer the earth, and set up his kingdom such that “the meek will inherit the earth.” Once that happens, Christ will reward each person based on what they have done. In this teaching, John Schoenheit covers the subject of rewards in the coming kingdom. He shows that, far from being a seldom-mentioned subject, rewards are addressed dozens of times in the Bible. Through these verses, he teaches about the kinds of rewards we can earn, how our inheritance can be a reward, and whether or not we can lose our rewards. It is our prayer that this teaching will be a tremendous blessing to you. Teacher: John Schoenheit The Book of Romans has been called the “Magna Carta” of the Bible, proclaiming the rights and privileges of the believer. One of those privileges is eternal life, and in this teaching John Schoenheit explores what it means to be “more than a conqueror” in Christ. To do that, he sets forth the theme of Romans, which is the “Good News” about Jesus Christ, and then develops the scope of Romans, starting in Romans 1 and going chapter by chapter until chapter 8. He shows how Romans clearly portrays the way to salvation and eternal life, and that once a person is a born-again Christian, his or her everlasting future is never in doubt. We pray that this teaching will bring you great inspiration, clarity, and direction as you continue to grow in your relationship with God and Jesus Christ. Teacher: Jeff Tyler What is the work that God has called us to do? This is a vital subject for all Christians to know and understand, so that we can be as effective as possible for Christ. In this LIVE teaching on “Fulfilling Your Function in the Body of Christ” from the March 2018 Leadership Meeting, Jeff Tyler looks at the three parts to answering this question: why it’s important, what it looks like, and how it applies to each of us. We pray that this teaching will bring you great inspiration, clarity, and direction as you continue to grow in your relationship with God and Jesus Christ, and to fulfill your God-given function in the Body of Christ. Teacher: Caitlyn Theisen Living wholeheartedly is difficult to do in a fallen world. But when we go through life with hearts that are numb, we are unable to fully experience the beautiful things that come from the heart-including the depths of joy and love-because we are afraid to also feel the pain and sadness that come from the same place. In this LIVE teaching on "Living Wholeheartedly" from the 2017 STF National Event, Caitlyn Theisen explores the journey to wholeheartedness and how it requires us to be invested deeply in the words of God, as well as some of the steps we can take to heal with the help of Jesus, and how we can acquire strength for the journey through the presence of Christ in our hearts and the knowledge of his love for us. Teacher: Jerry Wierwille “Worship” is a common word that is often thrown around in Christianity. But what few people realize is that there is a lot more to worshipping God than prayer, going to church, and singing praise. A large and overlooked part of worship involves sacrifice. Part of our worship is giving up things that hinder us from picking up our cross and following Jesus—becoming a disciple is an act of worship because a life of following Jesus consists of a life of sacrifice. In this teaching, “When It Hurts to Bend the Knee,” Jerry Wierwille lays out a dimension of worshipping God that cuts to the very heart of the Christian faith: worship involves sacrifice. Worship is about obeying God even when we don’t feel like it or want to. Being a follower of Christ means that we must forsake ourselves and follow him, no matter the cost. Teacher: John Schoenheit Isaiah 55:8 is a verse that has been used over and over again to explain away many uncomfortable things about life by covering up unbiblical doctrines, and as a result it has set a false barrier between God and many people. In this three-part teaching titled “Thinking Like God Thinks,” John Schoenheit explores the examples of Jesus’ life and the Torah, showing from Scripture how not only is it possible to think like God does, but that this is a vital part of living a godly life. If we want to conduct ourselves in a way that serves and honors our holy God, we must immerse ourselves in His way of thinking, so that we can be imitators of Christ, and therefore, imitators of God. Teacher: Dennis Hickman The Book of Philemon is a section of Scripture that is sometimes not read in great depth; but there are some amazing insights into relationship and personal dealings among believers that can be gleaned from this wonderful book! In this teaching titled “Crisis in Colossae,” Dennis Hickman examines the situation in Colossae at the time of Paul’s letter, which threatened to become a crisis within the Body of Christ. Looking deeper into the Letter to Philemon, this teaching explores how the blend of grace and truth as demonstrated in this record can translate into our lives—encouraging us walk in love, even through difficult situations. No matter what has happened in our lives, we can stand in truth and receive the Word with meekness, helping our brothers and sisters in Christ to heal and move forward; this way, we can all fight for unity and for one another. We hope that this teaching will encourage you to do all of that, and more. Teacher: Janet Speakes Throughout Scripture, we’re presented with many accounts of people who walked bravely down the path of God’s will that was laid out before them. But sometimes we can become so familiar with these stories that we lose sight of the fact that each one was pointing toward a bigger picture—the red thread of Jesus Christ! In this live teaching from the 2017 New England Women’s Conference, Janet Speakes explores several records in Scripture, taking a deeper look at the source of bravery for each person in them, and how these accounts paralleled and pointed toward the reality of the coming Savior—showing the plan for mankind’s redemption, woven throughout history. Jesus Christ is the red thread of the Bible, the One whose coming was so beautifully illustrated in the life-journeys of those who courageously obeyed the leading of God. We believe that this teaching will bless and enrich your understanding of the Word, as well as help you to see more clearly how our strength and bravery comes from the Lord. Teachers: Ryan, Jerry Wierwille We are so blessed to share TWO live teachings from the 2017 STF National Conference held in Atlanta, GA! In the first teaching, Ryan talks about the time we have now in life, and how we must make the most of it. Using concrete and inspirational analogies, he explores the importance of doing our best now, because our time in this life is limited…and how what we do with that time will echo in eternity. In the second teaching, Jerry Wierwille takes a deeper look into the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25; he demonstrates from the evidence of Scripture how each person is talented in their own unique way, and shows how we can look to this parable for guidance on how we should be using our talents, however great or small, to invest in the future kingdom. We trust that both of these teachings will be deeply enriching and greatly motivational for you, as you use your time and talents in this life to invest in the people around you…and in the kingdom to come. Teacher: John Schoenheit In the early 1900’s, a movement started that is now referred to as “the Word of Faith Movement,” which teaches that if a person has faith, he can be successful, prosperous, and healthy. But is that really what the Bible teaches? In this teaching, John Schoenheit examines how the English word “faith” came into our language, and what it means; why the Word of Faith Movement is so strong, and why faith so often seems to work for people; some of the consequences of believing that our faith makes things happen in the world around us; how our trust in God or Christ does not force things to happen; and the wonderful effects of trusting God and living wisely. Trying to make things happen by “just having faith” puts an immense amount of pressure on Christians, and we believe that this teaching will help many people to better understand what happens in the world around them, and to be more peaceful in their hearts. Teacher: Dan Gallagher No one would ever think of running a long distance marathon race without going into proper training. Many may desire to win but few do because, as Coach Bear Bryant once said, “It’s not he will to win that matters—everyone has that. It’s the will to prepare to win that matters!” As followers of Jesus, each Christian has a race course laid out ahead of them and to win that race we must prepare ourselves in order to win. In this teaching Dan Gallagher begins by defining what “winning” for he Christian means and he examines five specific areas where we need to have the will to prepare ourselves to win: prepare for good works, prepare to give an answer, prepare to resist, prepare to fight, and prepare to endure. We believe you will enjoy this teaching with it’s many real life examples and antidotes, as well as finding it will helpful for you on your way to “winning” with Christ. Teacher: Jerry Wierwille As Christians, we are often warned about the perils of getting too involved in the world. We’re told not to love the things of the world; not to conform to the world; and to keep the commandment unstained while we are living in this world. With all of these instructions, it can be difficult to know how we should truly conduct ourselves in the world—to know what, in the world, we are doing! In this live teaching from our 2017 20’s and 30’s Conference in Paducah, KY, Jerry Wierwille takes a look into Scripture to determine what it means to be of the world; what it means to be in the world; what things can tarnish the teaching of the Word; and how God admonishes us to keep His commandments unstained while we navigate life and maintain a steadfast faith in a fallen world. Teacher: Dan Gallagher Despite the fact that adversity of all kinds is a part of everyone’s life, people spend a lot of time, effort, and money trying to avoid it all costs. This mindset of ease and comfort can actually limit us in seeing how God can and does use adversity to work powerfully with us. Having a proper attitude during difficult times can help us develop the character of Christ, increase in godliness, and grow more into the image of our Lord. In this teaching Dan Gallagher uses the forging process of steel to demonstrate the spiritual process of transformation through adversity. We think you will enjoy the many examples and parallels as you learn more about how God disciplines (teaches and trains) us as His children.
Teacher: John Schoenheit As Christians, we want to read the Bible and believe it. But that is more tricky than it sounds. The Bible employs many figures of speech that are not literal; it also contains poetry and wisdom literature that are written in a non-literal way. In the biblical culture wisdom statements were well-understood, but in our much more straightforward and factual writing of today, those statements can be confusing. For example, how are we to understand Psalm 1:3, that for the righteous person, “whatever he does prospers,” when it is not factually correct? In this teaching, John Schoenheit explains wisdom statements in the Bible and goes over four characteristics as outlined by Dr. Bruce Waltke. Then he shows how wisdom statements can be interpreted in light of the scope of Scripture. We hope that this teaching will help you to gain clarity and confidence in your reading of the Word of God.
Teacher: Dave Hanson The mission of every born-again Christian is to love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength, and their neighbor as themselves, and to honor and serve Christ. In this teaching on “Focus on the Mission Possible,” Dave Hanson delves into the Book of Hebrews, exploring the theme of Jesus as the Christ and the reasons why we should spend our energy and focus serving, worshipping, and obeying him, turning our eyes constantly to follow him.
Teacher: Dan Gallagher There is an ongoing war raging between good and evil. While most Christians are at least aware of this spiritual battle, not everyone understands the many different arenas in which it is fought. In this three-part teaching, Dan Gallagher looks at seven different spiritual battlefields—arts & entertainment, media, education, government, business/science, religion, and family—and explains how both God and the Devil are fighting to capture our hearts and our loyalty through these mediums. We hope that this teaching will help you to become more aware of the spiritual battlefields where both God and the Devil are waging war, in order to increase in your discernment and spiritual judgement and to help you to become more effective in fighting the spiritual battle of which we are all a part.
Teacher: John Truitt In order to run the race for the joy that is set before us, we must endure! In this live teaching from our 2016 National Event, John Truitt delves deeply into the subject of prayer, including how everything in the process of endurance begins with prayer, how to get our prayers answered, and how persistent prayer ties back into the race that we run. In this teaching, Truitt explores how Jesus set the example when he endured intense suffering through fervent prayer, and how the Bible tells us over and over again that we must set aside the things of this world so that we, too, can bear the things we will suffer in this life. Through prayer, endurance, and keeping our focus on Jesus, we can truly experience the joy that is set before us.
