Today, it is my pleasure to welcome Tre' Cates to The Tim So Show! Not only is Tre' a seasoned entrepreneur who has vast experience building several organizations from the start-up level, but he is also a regenerative thought leader who emphasizes building healthy, organizational environments that enable long-term outcomes without compromising social and environmental integrity. Besides all of this, Tre' is the founder of nRhythm, an organization focused on designing, operating, and resourcing other organizations, networks, and communities using the nRhythm Regenerative Framework which centres on a holistic, living systems-based approach. In today's episode, Tre' will discuss what regeneration really means as well as the importance of constructing organizations (whether that be manufacturing, technology, business networks, food services, health and wellness, non-profit, agriculture, or financial firms) with health at the centre rather than productivity and efficiency. He'll also share his thoughts on whether the loss of regeneration has to do with our fear of death as humans and his experience with regeneration in agriculture including working with the Savory Institute. Dick Schwartz began his career as a systemic family therapist and an academic. Grounded in systems thinking, Dr. Schwartz developed Internal Family Systems (IFS) in response to clients’ descriptions of various parts within themselves. He focused on the relationships among these parts and noticed that there were systemic patterns to the way they were organized across clients. He also found that when the clients’ parts felt safe and were allowed to relax, the clients would experience spontaneously the qualities of confidence, openness, and compassion that Dr. Schwartz came to call the Self. He found that when in that state of Self, clients would know how to heal their parts. In this episode, we speak about: What it means to have an ‘Internal Family’ and what Dick discovered about the personality system as he started to develop the model. The similarities and differences between mindfulness meditation and IFS. What 'Self Leadership' means and how to cultivate its essence that is within all of us. Dick’s journey on discovering his own Self. Intimate relationships, ‘Tor-Mentors’, and why these people are so important in our life. For more information on Internal Family Systems, check them out at https://ifs-institute.com/.
