Luke and other members of the band Town Meeting sit down with friends and talk about life, music and whatever the hell pops into their minds. Sometimes deep, often silly, always Town Meeting.
It's been a minute. We're switching hosts to try and more easily post some ep's!
Babe told John and me (Luke) a story about a pretty intense moment he had a few months ago in the woods. It led to some interesting conversation. Check it out.
One of the plus sides of this quarantine is the normalization of Zoom meetings. It's become a second nature, really. People we normally don't get to talk to often are now in this same crazy boat and we get to talk to our cross country friends like they're are next door neighbors. This stay-at-home thing sucks, but this part of it is kinda great, no? Today Russ and I zoomed it up with our old man (Red Wine Danny) and our old pal Derek Oats. We talked about cooking meat, the horrors of politicized social media, Florida man, and how great Mystic River is. We also get a little specific on our political opinions - if your offended, sorry not sorry. Derek is one of our favorite dudes and a long time patron, and our dad is one of our oldest dads.
It's just me on this one. I've been going through some stuff (as I'm sure you all have) and so here I am, letting some of it out. I talk about the anxiety and depression that unfortunately seems to come with a quarantine. I get into what I've been doing: Book collecting, grill buying, etc. I talk about a new podcast Russ and I've got coming up. It's a thing. I really miss you guys.
Happy Quarantine, folks! It's our 50th episode and I was really hoping for something huge. Fireworks. Special guests. Celebrity sightings. Anything, really. However, COVID 19 had different ideas... Instead you get something even better! Me and oldest friend John talking about books we love and who'd we hang out with if the world ended. For real though, our Patron's are keeping us alive right now. Shows are being cancelled and/or postponed. People are losing their sources of income. But our patrons are holding it down hard. Huge Patreon Party when this is all over. We love you forever. For more info or to join our patreon - Patreon.com/townmeeting
This might be the most ridiculous / most fun I've had in a while around the mic's in the old garage. Had the pleasure of sitting with my pals Nick and Sam (Zach was there, too, but it did not bring me pleasure) and just having a strait up SILLY time. We talked about the usual: celebrity dong, geese vs. wasps, seventh day adventists and FMK animal edition. If you're offended by any of this then it's quite clear you've never heard an episode before. So welcome and we hope you stay! For real though, it was great to just hang with friends and be silly and I hope you had a few laughs. We've got shows! Rex Theater in Manchester - Feb 21 with our pals in Gentle Temper and Golden Oak! Also we're in Conway, NH, Portland, ME and other places! Go to our facebook for more info: facebook.com/townmeeting
Happy New Year, Townies! Can't think of a better way to start off 2020 then by hanging with with my duck loving homies Nick and Slyn! And to throw some icing on the cake, we've got the incredibly talented Ben Cosgrove on the couch as well! We talk about bad sound guys, taxes, being alone on an island in Lake Superior, and Luke calls his mom about the show Gargoyles. (Spoiler: She doesn't pick up.) Also, we play one of Ben's songs! It's called Salt. It's amazing. Happy 2020, folks. Love you forever.
When we last left the Problem Solvers, they had just spent a long ass time fighting wolves and had entered the mysterious town of Ravana, where they had previously been summoned by the mayor. We pick up where we left off, in a tavern in the town square... PS - if these aren't you're thing, I get it. But they are getting some pretty positive feedback, plus we love doing them! However, I'll make sure to put regular episodes of the TM podcast between them... We love you all and merry Christmas and see you at The Bull Run!
After long last, it's finally happened. Goblins and House Elf's unite, because the Town Meeting boys (most of em...) sat down this past weekend and started the adventure of a lifetime - we played dungeons and dragons for the first time ever. AND IT WAS AWESOME. Honestly it was so much fun and we will be doing it again very soon. Even if you're not a huge fan of fantasy, you should listen to this one because if you don't we'll all cast spells on you. Special thanks to Marcus and John for joining us, and an even bigger thanks to our Dungeon Master and great pal, the amazing Zach Frederick. Enjoy, friends.
Summer's over. The leave's are falling of the trees. And we're back, baby! Oh man, did I miss podcasting! Happy to be returning to talking about god knows what into microphones with my pals Zach, Nick and Slyn! In this episode we go over plans for when the end of the world, how much cheese is too much cheese, geese vs. ducks, and guns. That's right, GUNS. Hope you enjoy, Townies.
It's another midnight recording, folks! Russ and Luke sat down with our new favorite podcast booty-call, the fantastic Jon and Ariana and we talked about music, how much ice cream sucks, which Beatle was the worst and Luke's fifth grade crush. It even gets a bit political in the middle! Enjoy! Special thanks to Jon and Ariana for joining last minute! They are playing a set at Strong Style Coffee in Fitchburg, MA on Aug. 16th. Come check em out!
Sat down with Babe and Tim to talk to our pal Jeff on this episode - who is riding close to 200 miles on a bike to raise money for The Dana Farber Institute! We talk about Tim's unfortunate cat situation, biker shorts and butt sweat, and of course how good Hard Boiled Eggs are. My daughter's make a cameo at the end - they'll be signing autographs later... It was a late night, but that didn't stop the boys from getting deep into some good old fashioned talk about religion! Luke and Russ sit down with Derek, Zach and Jesse and chat about Christianity, growing up, and Abraham's Bosom. IT's a fun one!
Russ and I hung out once again with our pal Zach Frederick and talked about dogs, songwriting, and Luke's true feelings about The Talking Heads. We also had guitars the whole time so we end up breaking into a few new song ideas and covers and such. I apologize in advance for the audio quality of this episode! We just kind of turned the mics on and let it roll. Russ seems to be the only one facing his microphone during the majority of this episode. It looks like I may have found myself with a backwards facing mic the whole night. (And I may have asked myself, "How did I get here?")
My old man (red wine Danny) swung by the studio (my garage) to record something special for his old man, who just turned 80. We ended up having a great conversation and recording a few extra tunes. He was nice enough to share them with everyone here! Happy birthday, Grampy Bob.
Sat down with the fantastic and amazing Nick and Slyn on this weeks episode and talked about all kinds of good stuff - Michael Jackson, Nick's hatred for Joni Mitchell and how Boston is kind of racist. It was a blast! If you're slynterested in becoming a Patron - head to Patreon.com/townmeeting and find out how!
Will Martin (Professional Silly) joins the Condon brothers on this fine episode and tells us about that one time he bought an axe. We also get into favorite comedians, Top Three lists, and we even get into the Louie CK news a bit. AND IF THAT WEREN'T ENOUGH - we've got a post-cast where we discuss the podcast and even a post-post-cast where we discuss the postcast! But you only get that extra goodness if you're listening at Patreon.com/townmeeting - sign up now! Extra Special thanks to our friend the hilarious Will Martin. Check out his comedy at https://www.mrwillmartin.com/ Love you, silly's - professional or amateur! Thanks for listening! If you need an axe, you know who to call...
This is a good long one, folks! I sit down and chat with my pals Sean Daley & The Hooligans (AKA Jeremy and Keyna) and we talk about all kinds of good stuff! Jeremy thinks he can name every Van Halen song in order, we rate the Rocky movies, and get into old school nintendo obsessions. Also, Jeremy tries out a bunch of pretty smashing impressions. Make sure you go see Sean Daley & The Hooligans next time they're playing near you - https://www.facebook.com/thehooligans3/ Want your own Patreon Plug? Email us at townmeetingtheband@gmail.com to find out how.
Had so much fun sitting down with my friend Singer/Songwriter Derek Fimbel on this episode. We talked about all the good stuff - music, religion, new year resolutions and of course the fantastic Jars of Clay. Also, Derek sings us a song at the end and it's incredible. Happy New Year, everyone! Can't wait to see you in 2019! Also want to give a big shout out to all our Patrons at Patreon.com/townmeeting - you are our heroes, for real. We couldn't be who we are and do what we do without you. Go check it out if you haven't already.
Sat down with my new friend, Singer/Songwriter Zach Frederick on this episode and had ourselves a grand ol' conversation about Dungeons & Dragons, writing songs when you're fourteen, and what the heck the Apocrypha is. It was a good time. SHOW ALERT - If you don't already have plans for new years eve - Zach and myself - as well as my daughter (Selah) and a whole bunch of other super talented folks are playing a show at Strong Style Coffee in Fitchburg, MA for 2019'snotgonnasuck-fest. It's gonna be a damn good time. Come grab a drink and ring in the new year with us! Love you always, Luke
Babe, Luke and Lianna (Luke's wife) sip some White Russians and try to talk about Babe going to a Dave Matthews show, but all Babe seems to want to talk about is mushrooms.
It's a full house on today's episode! I had the great pleasure of sitting down with some of my favorite Boston comedians to talk about Axl Rose, Tilda Swinton, and the joys and woes of the Boston comedy scene. Special thanks to Terence Pennington, Will Martin, Josh Dolan and Laura Severse. They're all super funny and you should check them out immediately. Also thanks to Russ, Tristen and Laco for hanging out as well. Disclaimer: Had some sound issues with this episode. A few mic chords need to be replaced and perhaps a few mics as well. The levels were a bit all over the place. Also we were eating Chinese food for the first half of the episode. Apologies in advance.
Not gonna lie to you guys, this one was kind of a mess. Russ, Babe and myself played a small acoustic show at Strong Style Coffee in Fitchburg (That place rules, by the way - you all should go there right now) and I told Babe to invite a few pals over afterwords to record an episode of the podcast. By the time I packed gear up and rolled back to my place there were close to 32452342346 people there. So I threw up my hands and poured myself a shot of bourbon and started recording. To be honest, I'm not even sure what happens here. I haven't listened to it yet, and besides adding the beginning and the ending themes - I haven't edited it at all. So here you go folks! Pure mayhem caught on audio. Enjoy!
Hey howdy hey, everybody! In this fabulous episode, Luke sits down with Tony and his little buttercrumb danish, Kristin and have a fabulous chat! Happy Halloween week, Folks! Luke sits down with pals Laco, Regis, and Marcus and they chat about all kinds of stuff, but mostly horror movies, and Luke gives an extremely flawed synopsis of all the halloween movies. Enjoy, folks!
Good morning Pals! On this glorious episode - Luke, Tim & Babe sit down with Leah and Mackenzie of Charon Art (Turner's Falls, MA) and talk about all things Tattoo! We go over worst places to get a tattoo, our favorites, and somewhere along the way we get wayyy distracted by Babe's rescued pet mouse. It's pretty sweet. If you live in New England and are interested in getting a tattoo, definitely check out Charon Arts! They're great people and do incredible work. Happy October, guys and gals! Fall is upon us and the podcasts are a flowin'! In this episode, Luke and Babe sit down with Varno, Marcus and Red Wine Danny. We talk about Jam bands, the curious art of a good set list, favorite songs to hear and play, and Varno tells us some good Wormtown Stories. It's tasty. IMPORTANT - We've got some West Coast shows that we NEED to get people out to. If you have any friends in Seattle or Portland - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE encourage them to go to one of these shows: Friday 10/12 - Seattle, WA at Lagunitas Sunday 10/14 - Portland, OR at Mission Theater Info and ticket links on our facebook page or at Townmeetingmusic.com/shows Thanks everybody! Happy October!
On this good old episode, Luke and Babe sit down with Marcus, John and Erica and mostly talk about movies. Luke and John share stories from when they were younger, and we get into old nickelodeon shows, faking acid trips, hiding the scent of weed with chlorine, and drinking miller lights with your butt. I won't lie, folks, it's a weird one. But it was nice to sit down with one of my oldest pals (John) and talk about some good times. PARENTAL ADVISORY SUGGESTED: We swear in this one. W also talk about some weird shit. Thanks again to our pals in These Wild Plains for letting us use their tune Fast & Blue for our intro tune.
Welcome to The Town Meeting Podcast, where members of the band Town Meeting sit down with friends and talk about life, music and whatever else pops into their minds. Sometimes deep, often silly, always Town Meeting. Episode 27! (If you want episodes 1-26, you'll have to go to patreon.com/townmeeting) In this ep - Luke, Russ, Tony, and Bad News in this episode. We start off talking about ways we'd like to die and Billy Crudup's big blue dong in The Watchman. Luke starts talking about the number 27 and Tony frequently brings the episode to a screeching halt. (JK Tones, love u). Tony talks about how he'd like his funeral to go. It's really not how I envisioned episode 27 going, but it's not bad. Special thanks to all our wonderful friends who fed our self-indulgence by contributing to that beautiful montage. It meant the world!
