Éire Óg's Shane O'Donnell claims the structure of the Munster Club Hurling Championship has resulted in a less than ideal preparation for their semi final tie. The Townies will face Loughmore-Castleiney in the last four after the Tipperary outfit claimed back to back titles with victory over Nenagh Éire Óg, with that game set for November 16th in Zimmer Biomet Páirc Chiosóg. The Clare champions are having to contend with a six week layoff since their county final success, while Loughmore have a fortnights turnaround to the game. Reigning hurler of the year, O'Donnell, says neither sides' build up for the game is optimal.

Éire Óg boss Shane Daniels says they can't afford to let outside noise distract them in their attempts to regain the TUS Clare Senior Football Championship. The Townies are hot favourites to follow up the success of their hurlers and secure a senior championship double and a fourth Jack Daly crown in five years. An impressive group stage campaign saw them record three wins from three and that was followed up with victories over Miltown and Lissycasey in the quarter finals and semi finals respectively. Daniels says they're solely focused on delivering an improved performance from their last four success. Meanwhile Doora Barefield's Eoin Thynne says their biggest challenge is playing mistake-free football on Sunday. The Parish defender claims despite the 10 point defeat inflicted on them the last time the sides met, the scoreboard didn't represent the pattern of play. Thynne says any hint of complacency will be duly punished. Throw in on Sunday is at 3:30pm with commentary thanks to Brian Pyne Tiles Westgate Business Park, Kilrush Road, Ennis.
Doora/Barefield manager Donagh Vaughan claims their TUS Clare Senior Football Final appearance is 'five years in the making'. The Parish will contest their first decider in 13 years when they take on reigning champions Éire Óg on Sunday afternoon in Zimmer Biomet Páirc Chiosóg. After coming through the group phase with just one point, wins over Kilmurry Ibrickane in the quarter final and Cratloe in the last four saw them through to the big game. Vaughan says there's a great buzz around the parish going into the game and that his players are determined to deliver a performance. Meanwhile, Éire Óg star, Mark McInerney, claims they're well aware of the threat Doora/Barefield pose to their crown. The Townies needed extra time to overcome the same opposition in the Cusack Cup final earlier this year. McInerney, says their sole focus is on what they can control, heading into Sunday. Throw in on Sunday is at 3:30pm with commentary thanks to Brian Pyne Tiles Westgate Business Park, Kilrush Road, Ennis.
One of Éire Óg's key men says they're confident of maintaining their 100% record in this year's TUS Clare Senior Football Championship and securing the county title in the process. The Townies are aiming to be the first side since Cratloe in 2014 to secure a senior championship double, when they face Doora/Barefield in the final on Sunday afternoon. Victory would see Shane Daniel's charges retain the title they won 12 months ago and secure Jack Daly for the fourth time this decade. Corner back, Dean Ryan, says although they can take confidence from their Cusack Cup victory over the same opposition, they can't afford to rest on their laurels. Meanwhile, Doora Barefield will turn to youth to help see them get their hands on Jack Daly. Captain Darragh O'Shea says they're hopeful they can finally turn recent underage success into a senior county title.

Éire Óg boss Gerry O'Connor says his side deserve huge credit for handling the emotion of a tough week and claiming the county title. The Townies ended a 35 year wait between drinks with a five point defeat of Clooney Quin. The victory also sees Éire Óg into the Munster Club Championship, which they'll begin by facing the winners of the Tipperary championship. O'Connor says winning the battle around the middle third was pivotal to their success. Meanwhile, 2024 Hurler of the Year, Shane O'Donnell, says it's incredibly special to witness the outpouring of relief from Éire Óg supporters.

Eire Óg manager Gerry O'Connor is warning his side they are facing a massive test this weekend in the semi finals of the TUS Clare senior hurling championship. They go up against neighbours Kilmaley for a place in this years showpiece event, with one unbeaten record set to fall at the full time whistle. The Townies already have silverware on the sideboard after winning the Division Two league title, but are hoping to end a 35 year wait since they last claimed the Canon Hamilton. O'Connor says they have to be ready for a huge battle to take another step toward that goal. Throw in on Saturday evening is at 4.30pm with commentary on Clare FM with John Neylon and Associates, Consulting Engineers, Architects and Energy Assessors, Cathedral Court, Ennis. Meanwhile, Ballyea come into this weekends semi final outing as the most recent champions left in the race for the title. They last captured the Canon in 2022 and are hoping to return to the decider for the sixth time in their history when they take on Clooney-Quin. Manager Robbie Hogan says while experience can be priceless at this time of year, everyone knows that nothing can be taken for granted. That one has a 3.30pm start on Sunday with commentary thanks to O'Sullivan & Hansbury Motors, Kilrush Road Ennis

Ten years ago, X Ambassadors changed the alt-rock landscape with their debut album VHS, delivering unforgettable anthems like “Renegades” and “Unsteady.” Now, frontman Sam Nelson Harris reflects on a decade of growth, success, and transformation as the band prepares to release VHS(X)—a bold reimagining of the record that first put them on the map. In this conversation, Sam talks about revisiting the songs that launched their career and what they mean to him today, the creative process of breathing new life into fan favorites, and how re-recording tracks like “Renegades” offered surprising new perspectives. He also shares what fans can expect from the upcoming VHS(X) Tour, reflects on the band's evolution from VHS to their latest album Townie, and dives into how his experiences writing and collaborating with artists like Rihanna, Eminem, and The Weeknd have shaped his artistry. This episode is both a celebration of the past and a glimpse into the future of one of alternative music's most influential bands.

Éire Óg boss Shane Daniels says his side still 'have loads to work on' despite booking their spot in the quarter finals of the TUS Clare Senior Football Championship. Colm Walsh O'Loghlen netted twice as the reigning county champions raised four green flags in their ten point defeat of Doora Barefield. The win sees The Townies through to last eight with a game against Kildysart still to be played. Daniels says with the club competing in both codes, getting through to the quarters as early as possible was crucial. Meanwhile, Doonbeg manager Brian Shanahan says they were rewarded for their determination as they kept their championship campaign alive. His side rescued a point against Lisscasey after Tadhg Lillis found the net with the last play of the game to force a 1-12 to 15 points draw. The result means Doonbeg will still have to beat Kilmihil in their final group game to progress to the next round. Shanahan says he's pleased his players have something to show for their perseverance in both championship matches this year.
Tom Will is a poet who has, among other things, written Pale Townie (Apocalypse Confidential, 2023), a 999-line poem which keeps the heroic couplet end rhymes from Pale Fire (Nabokov/Shade) intact, while transforming the story into something quite different, very Tom Will. He's also recently published American Cats Are in a Big Country (2024, Farthest Heaven), a collection of 73 poems, all of which are very much worth your time and love.We got to talk about the process of writing Pale Townie, why limericks are so funny, prose poems, clunk, Tom's future projects, and a lot more.Tom tends to pace while talking. Broadford manager Paddy Meehan says he's sickened by the last minute goal that sentenced his side to defeat in the first round of the TUS Clare Senior Hurling Championship. Having struck two goals of their own in the opening half, Broadford looked set to take at least a point from the game as they led by two points with seven minutes to play. However, super sub Darragh McNamara raised a 60th minute green flag to turn the game on its head, while Martin and Peter Duggan added late points to finalise a three point win for Clooney Quin. Meehan says their opponent's quality players shone through in the dying stages. Meanwhile, Éire Óg boss Gerry O'Connor says he's impressed by the manner of which his players controlled the game once they hit the front. 13 points from Danny Russell alongside goals from Marco Cleary and Darren O'Brien helped The Townies to a 2-24 to 1-18 win over Newmarket in their Group 3 encounter. O'Connor says the boost they got from their bench saw them over the line to record the victory.
