As my artist's statement explains, my work is utterly incomprehensible and therefore full of deep significance. - Calvin & Hobbes info@twincityshredder.com
With the recent pandemic influencing everyone's life, I decided to take this opportunity to dig through some tracks I used to play a decade ago. Stay safe and stay healthy! Live Recording - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mqm6jevh9Jk
This song represents my current journey into production. No samples were used in this track. This was entirely made with stock Ableton plugins besides Valhalla Reverb.
Time is an element of life that controls how we act and how we think. Doing time, or more positively, putting in the time, lets us achieve things we didn't know we were capable of. Whether you've gotten your GED, while serving a sentence, or you've put thousands of hours into your passion, making the most of something we can't get back, is crucial to our well being as humans. Producing music, is something I've personally procrastinated on. When I think back 10 to 15 years, it's easy to get down on myself for not starting sooner. I really look up to all the producers. People who are interested in how it all works. For one, without you, I couldn't pursue my passion of DJing. Secondly, the amount of effort that goes into learning production is overwhelming, to say the least. Anything worth learning, is worth being terrible at for a while:)
Sometimes I can't help but drift to the darker side of minimal and techno. It is my bread and butter. This set is technical, and bass heavy. Hence the title. Traktor was notifying me of ground hums, throughout most of this set. Blah blah, subs too close to the turntables, blah blah:) Sometimes I need to feel it, ya know?
This is the first project I've ever worked on. Overcoming the learning curve of Ableton is no easy task. Thankfully 10 years of mixing records has helped with learning how to structure a track. Learning something new and difficult is the only way to progress your skills as a human. This is my beginning into the production world. Thank you for listening.
This track was assembled using D16 - Phoscyon, Nepheton, and Drumazon. No FX, and real-time automation.
This is my first jump into music production. Hopefully this brings you back to the days of mashing buttons and conquering your enemies.
This is my first jump into music production. Hopefully this brings you back to the days of mashing buttons and conquering your enemies.
She walked into my life, as fast as she walked out. Was is love? Or something deeper? I don't think I'll ever know...
So after a long couple months of dealing with depression, and anxiety, I'm finally back. This mix was recorded with love, and a passion for the emotional techno side of things. I recently spent a week among great people, at Lake Powell. This place is beyond beautiful, and full of history. If you've never been there, I suggest getting a good group of friends and make it one of your destinations. Relationships will form, laughs that hurt your belly, and memories that will last forever. This experience I had opened my eyes to a much brighter side of life and happiness. So the tracks in this set are meant to set that same mood. As always, thanks for listening:)
Please don't call Tech House, Techno. It is not techno and will offend the truest of techno heads. Tech House is a genre that sucked some elements from House, and gave a hickey to Techno. This set defines what Tech House is all about. Sexy vocals, with a gritty feel. Dirty basslines, that keep you in a trance. And Soulful melodies, that keeps your feet moving.
I enjoyed mixing my last set so much that I figured I'd strip it down even more to the bare elements of the genre. We can thank Robert Hood and Daniel Bell for recognizing this missing aspect of techno music. As a whole, we have Richie Hawtin, Daniel Bell, Robert Hood, Jeff Mills, Carl Craig, Kenny Larkin, and Mike Banks to thank for making this reality a staple in the scene.
Minimal has always been my deepest love. The strange and complex sounds accompanied by the deep basslines, always gets me moving. Minimal is one of the most complex genres to mix. It requires precise volume levels, and patience, as well as, superb track selection in order to keep the story going. Techno and recording sets has been my greatest passion for 16 years. I hope when you listen to my recordings, you hear the story I'm trying to tell.
Welcome back to another mix that I hope will be your anthem as we lead into summer. I crossed over multiple genres, in order to achieve a very dynamic mix. There should be something for everyone in this set. I'm looking forward to summer, and I hope you are too.
Hello everyone:) After weeks of having a messed up laptop, USPS losing my parts in the mail, countless hours of reinstalling Traktor Scratch Pro and dealing with severe DPC latency issues, I am happy to finally be able to upload some sets. This set is strictly techno. I don't play sets like this often, but I needed some bangin' 4 on the floor tunes. I'm going to be changing up my profile to look a bit more professional. Hope you like the new art work!
Have you ever played Resident Evil 7 Biohazard? Well, let me tell you just how scary this game is. This game will keep you up at night. It will also make your hair stand up. You will be so tense after just 15 minutes of this game, that your eyes and face will hurt after putting down the controller. Don't believe me? Play it. I recommend turning the lights off and using headphones. The only game I have ever played that is this scary is original Fatal Frame for PS2. I hadn't played Resident Evil since the first release on Sega Saturn. I preferred Silent Hill. RE7 may possibly be the best game I have ever played. I'm almost finished with it. I am at the stage where your with the girls and the monster Molded blasts through the floor. This game will make your heart race. This mix carries a bit of that creepy vibe, and my usual antics.
Every once in a while a DJ will revisit their old days by digging through tracks you started with. This set is exactly that. After buying Traktor Scratch day 1, it opened up the possibility to play songs that will never be on vinyl. As a DJ refines their craft, you get to a point of no return, meaning style, sound, and energy all change over time. These tracks help me remember where I come from. I hope this brings you back to the days where the music had set you free. The PAC-Man DJM-800 was my first professional mixer. The PAC-Man StyleFlip took lots of hours to design, and consists of many different versions of PAC-Man, from Atari to Nintendo. The design was the 8th style flip ever printed and was free with the purchase of the mixer. Thanks Vital Vinyl! I learned everything on that mixer. For the last 3 years I have used a Xone 92, which is simply a masterpiece.
This set goes out to all the veterans who have to deal with the awful care at the VA. My Monday started like this... I woke up and had to go to the VA to renew my Asthma Inhaler. So I walk into the E.R. to see a doctor with no appointment. I walk to the counter, get my name on a list, then I wait... 30 minutes go by and here comes the nurse who's gonna check my stats. I kindly say, "I think we can skip this test, since I'm just here to renew my prescription." The nurse goes, "No, No, we have to check your vitals." I thought "Have to?" Ok then. 10 minutes and 12 questions later, I'm questioning myself about all these questions. "Sir, are you thinking about harming yourself?" "Well, I wasn't till you asked me." Sir, we need you to be serious." "I'm feeling just fine, hows my heart?" "95 BPM, your heart is good. You, can return to the waiting area." Cool, finally done with that, and now here I wait. 2 hours later a nurse walks out, calls my name, and says my meds are ready at the pharmacy. Sweet, I don't have to actually talk to a doctor. So I stroll on down to the pharmacy, grab a number and check in. 20 minutes later they call my number and I talk to the pharmacist, she goes ahead and fills the Rx. Then says it will be about 20 minutes till it's filled:( 3 hours later I get out of the VA and a guy is parked behind my car, with a dead battery. So, with a smile on my face I helped a fellow veteran out with a jump, and we both went on our way. This delay at the VA really jacked up my whole day, but on the other hand I helped a man who desperately needed it. I would have posted this yesterday as scheduled, but this strange life, is all about timing.
Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, once said "Moving on is easy, what it leaves behind is hard". Dave's statement couldn't ring more true for my situation. I had to walk away from a job that was consuming all my time and my life, with no clear benefit to either. To the awesome people I was used to seeing on a daily basis, I will miss you. To my friends and family, thank you for the continued support. I am now free to take back my life and my free time, and forcing myself to focus on my dreams and the finer things in life. I recommend others in the same boat to do the same. If your not happy in your current life, then please do yourself a favor and jump onto a different track:)
When deciding to do a set consisting of tracks from 2010, I also talked about doing a set from 2009, in order to distinguish the widely different sounds used for those years. Genre defining beats from the best of both years. These years captivated me to the fullest. This set is intended to bring you back to where PLUR started. Respect to Frankie Bones for making PLUR possible.
Some talk about the best year of techno, well I've narrowed it down to the specific month. December 2010 will remain as the best month of techno ever. If you used to listen to my podcast, then you know I talked about recording a set comprised of only tracks from this specific year. Well, all these tracks were released in December 2010. I will never forget the amazing moments from this era. Enjoy.
"Music" includes sounds wholly or predominantly characterized by the emission of a succession of repetitive beats. –Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 All tracks in this set are from 1994 to 1999. This set was inspired by a fellow rave kid from the early days. After meeting this old school raver she showed me some pics from that era that totally inspired me. I personally didn't fall in love with the scene till my first rave in 2005. This 3 day, out door rave put on by DC Productions was called Blueshift 2 and held in Black River Falls, Wisconsin (A legitimate nudist campground). I magically found a place with like minded individuals who shared the same passions for music that I had. Little did I know that my first event, would capture my heart so much that I'd pawn all my guitars and amps, and quit rock and roll forever, to start on my "nothing but love" journey into electronic music. I searched through 8400+ tracks on Beatport to put this together. I spent 3 weeks digging though tracks to capture that old school sound. This set is designed to bring you right back to the good ole' days of predominantly uplifting and repetitive motivational beats. If you were one of these old school rave kids then this set will surly hit close to home.
So over the last year, alot of my equipment took a turn for the worst. This set was recorded right after my powered sub amp burnt up. If you've heard my sets before then you know I pack alot of bass into them. Bass is what makes or breaks a track. Mixing on just powered tops, leaves alot of the music behind. I need bass, you need bass, so I tried to play some tracks that show the bass regardless of a subwoofer or not. Join me this Christmas as we go Bass Fishin'.
Since I was 14 years old, playing guitar, I wanted to put music into peoples ears. Sitting in my room playing to Metallica and Megadeth, gave me so much peace as a kid. Music captivated me and gave me an outlet to express my emotions without talking. Even today with DJing, it still remains the only way I know how to express myself. DJing is the only time I feel "normal", whatever normal is. I had the dream as a kid and still as an adult. I'm here to claim my fame.
This mix is based off an instance where I had waited months to get my first commission check, and when I did it was gone instantly (less than 2 hours) to bills and past debt. We all have been there and it sucks. Oddly enough it felt good to pay the bills. I wonder if the asshole who invented monthly bills was ever like "Sure they will hate it at first, but then they will learn to love it ha ha ha ha haaaaa". Why us humans have never evolved past this is beyond me.
In life there is many upsets. My life in-particularly had a few upsets in a row. From friendship issues, to issues at work, let alone the daily struggle we call life. If you've heard my previous sets then you know this is the only way I know how to express myself without a sudden outburst. At this point in my life I was Past the Limit with my emotions to where I couldn't take it anymore. Something had to be said and done. This set is dedicated to those following their dreams. When it gets tough remember the tough get going.
So I decided it was time to literally dust off my old vinyl. It's been 9 years since I put real vinyl on my turntables. Thanks to Traktor Scratch Pro:) Yes, that's me in the pic from 2007. With vinyl use, comes grace, a perfect ear, and a complete understanding of what's happening and whats to come. Know your records. Report your local DJ for using anything less than vinyl. Keep the roots alive. As always raw and unedited.
This set was completely inspired by a very big misunderstanding about the highs, mids, and schwags of marijuana. Ya know how in states with "illegal" weed, "shake" is broken off bottom buds, etc. Ya know, fucking smokable. Well here in Colorado, "shake" is trim. Fucking leaf, garbage. Well, when someone orders caviar, you don't bring out the dead fish it came from. This set goes out to a guy we'll call Herb the Potophile. I apologize for the audio hiccups. My cat walked on my Timecode Vinyl and fucked up the grooves in the records. So I had to resort to my very first, 9+ year old set of Traktor Vinyl. Which are beat to death, and both skip at certain points in the record. I was too broke to afford another set, and I needed to get these emotions out of me. Don't worry, next week I break out my real vinyl records, pre-Traktor days.
I dedicated this mix to my Grandma after passing away from a losing battle with cancer. This set comes from the heart, like my other mixes do, but this one makes me feel like she is listening too. This set is twisted and tangled and like my Grandma's spaghetti sauce, it's unforgettable. We all miss our loved ones, it's that close sign saying we're getting older. My family will miss her, and the earth will miss her. I will miss her. They better have Techno in the afterlife.
This set is put together for my fellow travelers. Press play and get settled in. This set is going to take you places. Don't worry psychonaughts, this flight has a soft landing.
AmericanHomes4Rent is the worst company to rent from. From $75 delivered notices of rent being 2 days late to raising our rent by $450 a month, just to be able to move someone else in for way more money a month than we were paying. Assholes. This event resulted in us getting a Lawyer, and it worked.

Second set in the never so ongoing Bassment Adventures series. This set was designed to begin my journey into green screen. But before Bassment Adventures could really take off, I destroyed all my lighting when I drilled through a ballast, frying everything. Ugh. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxY2XF4iRXw&t=532s
The Bassment Adventure sets were recorded for youtube. So if you want to see the live mixing, here is the url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JK2B3hcmfRM&t=2633s
Alright, I had a freakout and checked myself into Anger Management. This is the 3rd time I've seeked help for my anger. A short 6 week class that gets to root of the problem and quick. Thanks Doc.
This set was formed by taking a bunch of tracks and mixing them in chronological order from oldest to newest. Set starts in 1997 with Mr. Oizo and ends in 2015 with Stephan Bodzin. One of my favorites.
This set isn't like my others. Tracks were selected by my best friend, and were played till the very last mixing spot so you feel the energy of each track. This set was put together for my BFF to get over a girl he once loved, who had been having an affair. Another one of life's drastic changing points.
Ahhh the kinks. Always needing to be worked out. This situation was no exception. A failing business after landing that huge job. Another opportunity to move forward with something new.
Ugh, I finally have turntables again after a very, very, long wait. Never again will I not have my decks. This set marks the skills that can and can't be lost after 2 years of not using turntables. Turntables for life.
My first 420 in Denver. I love this city and its inhabitants. Time to celebrate this crazy journey.
The long process of creating your own strain of weed. The cross of Chemdawg #4 and Purple Power make up the beautiful genetics that is known as bottom bitch. A 95% Sativa that grown short and has a 56 day finish if needed. The taste is chemmy goodness with a fruity purply aftertaste.
This set goes out to the cunt who drove into my car at a crowded intersection, then ran. I followed her till the police said stop. The police never found this woman or the car. Lesson for today is: Follow that bitch till the cops are on you both. I had this car 3 months.
This set was recorded on a very cheap old mixer with zero FX. To those DJ's who are used to FX, drop that shit and refine your skills on a mixer with no FX.
London Departure was one of the hardest moments in my life. Love is the craziest emotion we have. Losing the connection you have with someone, knowing it will never return is very hard. The last time I saw her I was recording this in front of her, she never knew.
Everyone has to do it sometime, looking in the mirror for me was a change in my life that meant putting my love of djing on hold to study the marijuana plant and all of its benefits.
This set was designed to make even the pickiest genre whore, smile and appreciate the art of Minimal Techno.
This set was recorded while smoking Big Laughing from Dr. Greenthumb. This moment in time will never be forgotten.
A single lunch with a bunch of girls, turns into why nice guys finish last.
