Groovegsus plays only tracks from Maetrik Eric Estornel, under the names MAETRIK, MARIEL ITO, MACEO PLEX, and simply ESTORNEL - has been contributing to his musical world around him since 1993. Always searching for the future of electronic dance, Eric has never let himself be confined by the.. Originally from the USA and now relocated to Valencia Spain, Eric Estornel is making incredible leaps and strides releasing some of the most devastating yet unique music in the industry. His sudonyms Maetrik, Mariel Ito, Plaex, and now Maceo Plex are under great demand for the rich dynamic production and unique blend of techno, house, funk, and electro that only Eric can devise. Perhaps it's because of Eric's clear Cuban roots or his years in the game, but without a doubt 2010 was an incredible year and only more amazing things are expected of his truly unarguable talent. In 2010 alone Eric released under the names Maetrik and Maceo Plex remarkable releases on labels like Cocoon, Audiomatique, Crosstown Rebels, Dumb Unit, and Mothership. Not to mention a slew of amazing remixes for the likes of Morcheeba, John Digweed, Robert Babicz, Max Cooper, Martin Eyerer, and many more. Groovegsus Plays only Tracks from Patrice Baumel Patrice Bäumel has carved a singular path through the global techno landscape. A Beatport chart-topping producer and internationally acclaimed DJ, he's known for releases on iconic labels such as Kompakt, Get Physical, and Watergate, and for his celebrated residency at Amsterdam's legendary Trouw — the club that shaped his sound and reputation. His music has soundtracked dancefloors from Ipanema to Ibiza, combining emotional depth, precision, and raw club energy. Born in East Germany during the Communist era, Patrice's story is one of self-determination and resilience. Growing up mixed-race in a conservative environment, he found early refuge in music — records from Depeche Mode, Yello, The Cure, and Skinny Puppy igniting a lifelong fascination with electronic sound. The fall of the Iron Curtain opened new horizons, and a high-school exchange year in Utah gave him the confidence to explore beyond borders. By 17, he was DJing everything from gabber to Detroit techno, already building the foundation of his diverse musical identity. Moving to Amsterdam, Patrice initially pursued a career in technology before rediscovering his passion for music. A small home studio and local bar gigs soon led to early releases on Frankfurt's Trapez label, but it was his 2008 track “Roar” on Get Physical — a worldwide club hit championed by Pete Tong and Danny Tenaglia — that launched him onto the international stage. I originally started to learn how to DJ in 1991 at the age of 11 and my first DJ name was DJ Hogie (Don't ask) I first linked up with some of my old crew and we use to DJ at house parties all around Northampton. I then became part of a local sound system in 1997 and I was given the name DJ Skratch. I was a Garage and House DJ for the sound system. We DJ'd around Northampton including the Social club which has now been knocked down. Since moving on From the sound system I started DJing with a Friend at a local bar and to this very day I still DJ around town. It's fair to say DJING has changed since I first started So I became a digital DJ in 2006 but it was like learning how to DJ all over again! I moved to Spain with my Family in 2007 and still managed to get some bookings, it was nothing massive but it was nice to DJ at a pool party knowing it wasn't going to rain and I was just glad to still get bookings even if at the time I was switching over to digital and only had a laptop! We decided to come back to England in 2009 and after coming back I started to invest in digital DJING a lot more. I invested in my first controller which was a DJ Control MP3 e2 which my son now uses, I tried many controllers including the Traktor s4 but I just didn't feel the music with them. So I decided to switch over to timecodes, I choose vinyl timecode so I can get the best of both worlds vinyl and digital which worked for me as I was use to decks. I also became a volunteer working behind the scenes at my local FM Community station Inspiration FM in Northampton in 2010. I had no intention of becoming a presenter I was just helping edit and prepare interviews as I was too shy. But one day I was asked to cover a Show so I decided to go on air. (you could just about hear me on the mic!) But I did catch the radio bug which i'm sure any presenter will tell you it is very contagious. In 2011 a presenter could no longer present a show and if I wanted to cover it until further notice. I accepted and the Thursday Night Mix show was born. I have had Co hosts on the show alongside me and we have also have showcased local talent with the help of a local youtube channel. I also started doing Drivetime Wednesday's for my local station. I took a year out from DJING in 2014 And came back on air in 2015 under the name Paul-LH. Since then I have been involved in many events, bars and clubs. I hope to be involved in lots more Clubs, events and festivals. In 2019 I was chosen as a finalist for Slipmatt's Mixfactor competition to DJ Poolside to win the competition. Unfortunately I didn't win but it was a real experience. During lockdown I DJ'd on a few Internet radio stations, including Old Skool UK & Shed FM. I also joined My DJ Hub in 2020 ran by Terry Hooligan, Slipmatt and Mark XTC. Thanks to My DJ Hub I have had the chance to meet some great people ,DJ some great events and thanks to the Hub I am now part of Eruption Radio and the journey continues… It's not been an easy Journey when I look back AND i know I have a long way to go but then what is easy. after all this time the desire to DJ is still burning strong! I love to see peoples reactions no matter if the venue is packed or not you can always build up a vibe! I have learnt a lot over the years good and bad but and the journey continues…

His remarkable journey has left its mark on generations of clubbers and DJs. 🕺 It all began at the age of 14, when he became resident at the family-owned Mackenzie Club, where he would play for an incredible 37 years! 🎶 In 1980, he opened his first record store, before taking over USA Import, a true institution for DJs from all across Europe. 💿 On the production side, he co-founded the iconic project The Mackenzie, with which he helped revolutionize Belgian trance. Tracks such as Higher in the Sky, I'm Free, Arpegia, and Innocence (which stayed #1 in Belgium for 54 weeks) became timeless classics. Siphiwe Mkhize, better known as Enoo Napa. #1 Afro House Artist 2017 on Traxsource ...is a self taught producer from the township of Umlazi, Durban in KwaZulu Natal. After taking up production in 2013, his remix of Jackie Queen's “Conqueror”, an ambient, dark afro sound with a hint of techy synths, caught the attention of Black Coffee in early 2015. In a short space of time, his productions have blazed a trail to the sets of prominent DJs worldwide and earned him the 17th spot on the Traxsource Top 100 Afro House producers of 2016. His quick ascent was no small feat. Enoo Napa quit his job as a CCTV operator to pursue music full time. Challenging himself to the busiest year of his career to date, he produced 15 remixes and 12 originals within 18 months. These included “High in Your Love” featuring Durban vocalist Zipho which made an appearance on Dj Mbuso's Phezulu Selection Vol 4. As well as “Uprising” a collaboration with DJ Shimza released on Shimza's One Man Show EP through Soulistic Records. Now one of the most prolific young house music producers in South Africa, Enoo Napa has remixed for Black Coffee, N'dinga Gaba, Mi Casa, Oscar P, King Sfiso, DJ Merlon and continues to put out heavy, raw afro, electronic infused cuts on various well recognised international labels; Iklwa Brothers Music, MoBlack, Offering Recordings, Aluku Records, Arrecha Records, DM. Wie Gurken mit einem Gurkenflieger geerntet werden – das schaut sich Siham in Niederbayern an. Was aussieht wie ein Segelflugzeug hilft Gurkenbauer Ludwig und seinem Team dabei, Gurken per Hand zu ernten. Dabei fährt ein Traktor langsam über das Feld, damit die 24 Erntehelfer:innen links und rechts auf den beiden Plattformen ganz genau arbeiten können. Siham darf das natürlich selbst einmal ausprobieren… Nachdem jede Menge Gurken geerntet wurden, wird im zweiten Teil der Sachgeschichte gezeigt, wie diese zu Salzgurken verarbeitet werden. In riesigen Speicherbehältern, den sogenannten Silos, werden die Gurken in Salzsole eingelegt. Wenn dieser Prozess – die Fermentierung der Gurken – abgeschlossen ist, müssen sie als nächstes zum Entsalzen in einen Frischwassertank. Dann werden sie noch sortiert, geschnitten und in Portionen verpackt und schon sind sie fertig für ihren Einsatz – zum Beispiel auf einem leckeren Burger! Bei der Produktion von Salzgurken bleiben riesige Mengen Salzsole übrig. Wofür könnte man die noch gebrauchen? Eine Firma in Niederbayern hatte ein tolle Idee: Die Salzsole kann für den Einsatz beim Winterdienst verarbeitet werden – Gurkenwasser gegen Glätte. C’était le lever de rideau du camp de gardienne de la meilleure cerbère de la LPHF, Ann-Renée Desbiens, ce vendredi. De passage aux Amateurs de Sports, Desbiens nous révèle qu’elle n’a pas arrêté de sourire depuis ce matin. Elle nous raconte aussi que cette idée lui est venue lors d’une pratique de la Victoire de Montréal, alors qu’elle était assise sur le banc avec son entraîneur, Olivier Michaud. Avec ses jeunes gardiennes, elle souhaite leur donner de bons trucs, mais aussi de bonnes habitudes afin que ces dernières arrivent à s’améliorer tout en s’amusant! Les amateurs des Alouettes de Montréal en ont eu pour leur argent lors du match de jeudi dernier, au Stade Percival-Molson, alors que les moineaux sont revenus de l’arrière pour l’emporter face aux Argonauts de Toronto. Bruno Heppell, présent sur place, soutient que c’était une soirée absolument exceptionnelle et encourage les québécois et québécoises à se déplacer pour aller voir les matchs restants à domicile. De plus, selon Heppell, le quart-arrière partant des Alouettes, Davis Alexander, est le prochain grand quart-arrière prolifique de la LCF. En date d’aujourd’hui, ce dernier reste tout de même invaincu avec une fiche de 8-0! Fußball ist beliebt in Sierra Leone: Wenn die Nationalmannschaft aufläuft, tragen die Spieler Trikots in den Nationalfarben blau, weiß und grün. Aber ausgerechnet neben dem Nationalstadion in der Hauptstadt Freetown, wo die "Leone Stars" nach aufwendigen Renovierungsarbeiten bald wieder auflaufen wollen, sind die Nationalfarben von Sierra Leone unsichtbar. Stattdessen weht die rote chinesische Flagge - ein Hinweis darauf, dass die größte Spielstätte des Landes von China gebaut und finanziert wurde."Da wehen 20 chinesische Flaggen und keine von Sierra Leone", schildert der auf Afrika spezialisierte Wirtschaftsjournalist Julian Hilgers im Podcast "Wirtschaft Welt & Weit". China ist schon seit vielen Jahren Wirtschaftspartner Nummer eins für Sierra Leone und im Alltag der Menschen stark vertreten, berichtet Hilgers. "Man hat das Gefühl, China hat hier sein eigenes Nationalstadion."Sierra Leone ist für den Journalisten und Afrika-Podcaster ein "Brennglas für das, was China auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent macht". Ganz gleich, ob im sportlichen Alltag, beim Thema Infrastruktur oder beim Abbau von Rohstoffen: Die Chinesen nehmen schon seit vielen Jahren eine zentrale Rolle in dem westafrikanischen Land ein. Dabei profitieren sie von den Bodenschätzen. Sierra Leone ist reich an Diamanten, Eisenerz und Bauxit. Erze und seltene Erden sind die wichtigsten Exportprodukte des Landes. Trotzdem zählt Sierra Leone zu den ärmsten Ländern der Welt.Für Julian Hilgers ist der Rohstoffreichtum eher Fluch als Segen. Die größte Eisenerzmine des Landes wird von einem chinesischen Unternehmen betrieben. Hilgers hat sich auf den Weg gemacht und mit Beschäftigten der Tonkolili-Mine gesprochen. In der neuen Podcast-Folge berichtet er von Unzufriedenheit, die sich aber nicht nur gegen die Chinesen richte, sondern auch gegen die Regierung Sierra Leones, die die Betreiber unterstütze. "Als die Menschen dort streiken wollten, hat die Regierung Druck gemacht und gesagt, sie sollen das mal lieber lassen", erzählt Hilgers. Die Menschen dort könnten nur schwer dagegen halten, "weil natürlich jeder Job hilfreich ist, auch wenn er sehr, sehr schlecht bezahlt ist".Chinas Dominanz in Sierra Leone ist für Europa kaum aufzuholen. Das bilaterale Handelsvolumen zwischen Deutschland und Sierra Leone ist im Jahr 2024 zwar nach vorläufigen Zahlen auf 73,4 Millionen Euro angestiegen. Doch in der Rangfolge der Handelspartner Deutschlands liegt Sierra Leone damit abgeschlagen auf Platz 152.Was hindert deutsche Unternehmen am Handel mit Sierra Leone? Die Erinnerung an den brutalen Bürgerkrieg, der von 1991 bis 2002 das Land lahmlegte? Oder Sorge vor einer neuen Ebola-Epidemie? Für Hilgers ist es noch viel einfacher: Sierra Leone bleibt trotz Rohstoff-Reichtum eines der ärmsten Länder der Welt, es fehle schlichtweg der Absatzmark. "Es gibt keinen Mittelstand, der sich einen deutschen Traktor kaufen könnte", erklärt Hilgers, der in seinem Podcast "55 Countries" vom afrikanischen Kontinent berichtet.Auf der anderen Seite heißt das aber auch, dass das Ausbaupotenzial in Sierra Leone sehr groß ist. Deshalb gibt es sehr wohl Unternehmen, die ihre Chancen in Sierra Leone suchen und diese auch finden. So bietet etwa der Ausbau des Stromnetzes riesiges Potenzial. Ein Ansatz, der nicht nur wirtschaftlich Sinn ergeben könnte, sondern vor allem auch den Menschen vor Ort helfen würde.An der Dominanz der Chinesen im Land wird das kaum etwas ändern. Das hat auch Julian Hilgers bemerkt.
