Walk in the Shadows, hosted by Tim Woolworth, is a bi-weekly podcast that explores the weird, strange and the unexplained supernature of our paranormal world. Every episode dives head-first into a study of supernatural subjects as we try to make our paran
Yuletide, is a special time of year for billions around the world as Christmas is celebrated in the middle of Yule. As we release this episode at the start of Yule, we'd like to remind you of ceremonies long forgotten with this twisted tale by H.P. Lovecraft. There are no symbols of Pagan tradition in this episode. Customs carried on for centuries by Pagans that are repeated today like the use of the Yule tree, bells, and pants like holly or mistletoe.Instead, Lovecraft imagines traditions in this short story that are aeons older. Traditions involving a family lineage that beckons each generation to join in the dark customs of their forefathers as they read from Olaus Wormius' Latin translation of the mad Arab Abdul Alhazred's dreaded Necronomicon. The rituals worm deep into the bowels of the earth...and the mind. This is the first of our Storyteller Special episodes that we will release when we find a time that is appropriate. You can learn more about this episode on our website. We hope that you enjoy this short story narrative as much as we liked creating it for you. This episode was performed by me, Tim Woolworth. Imagine a sprawling cemetery overgrown with foliage and graves split asunder by tree roots. Vaults are busted open and gravestones jut out in every direction due to nature pushing up from below. And among this scene, a figure lurks. Those that see it are drained until the brink of death in their own homes. Then, one of the victims has the telltale mark of the vampire - two bite marks on her neck.To solve the problem, a vampire exorcist attempts to rid the cemetery of the vampire. So too does a necromancer and their paths collide in a very public fashion. This episode has vampire exorcisms, stakes through the heart, and even a victim turned vampire...and this was only about 50 years ago.We hope that you enjoy this episode. Due to an illness within our production team, Episode 4 of The Vampire will be delayed until our next scheduled release. In lieu of Episode 4, this week we are releasing one of our bonus episodes from this season that is meant to be listened to after Episode 1, Magia Posthuma. Bonus content, like you will hear today, is normally reserved only for those who have been granted access to our Shadow Realm so this is your peak behind the veil. This bonus content is about a famous vampire case, the case of Arnold Paole, and the resulting exhumation of dozens of purported vampire graves, of which thirteen are described in detail. The primary piece of this episode is a signed testimony, Visum et Repertum (Seen and Discovered), drafted military medical doctors sent by the Austrian government to remark upon the vampire plague and the state of the exhumed. What is exceptionally interesting is the condition of some of the vampire bodies after lying in the ground for several months. The evidence in this episode is one of the most oft cited pieces of evidence from the days of Magia Posthuma and it will round out your knowledge of The Vampire nicely. You can find the book resources for this series here. This bonus episode was researched, written and produced by me, Tim Woolworth. Blood drinking vampires (AKA sanguine vampires or sanguinarians) have a light shown upon them in this episode. When digging into the world of vampires, one of the more unexplored topics is that of psychic vampires, AKA psi-vamps or energy vampires. While most of us have heard of energy vampires before, trying to define what exactly they are likely remains elusive. That's why we decided to dig into the topic. In this episode, we explore what energy vampires are including the characteristics of psychic vampires, why they need energy, and how they feed. We will examine the concept of energy vampires through the works of clinical researchers who have worked with psychic vampires in their studies, the words of energy vampires themselves, and we even draw from Dion Fortune, a name that should be familiar with most anyone who studies metaphysics, who started on her path to metaphysical fame after she experienced psychic vampire attack. We hope that you enjoy this series! You can find the book resources for this series here. Vampires have always had a dark allure for me. I simply love the topic through and through and I wanted to shed some light on their dark world. In this first episode, we focus on historical vampires. You will learn about some vampire depictions going back as long as humanity has had written records. We then move forward through to the 18th century where a vampire craze overtook Central Europe. The fear of vampires and actions taken to combat them was so pronounced that this period in time has been given a name: Magia Posthuma, or roughly translated, Posthumous Magic. In this episode, we look into some of the pre-eminent cases of the Magia Posthuma era. Famous cases such as Jure Grando, Arnold Paole, and of course, Peter Plogojoviz demonstrate that vampires of the golden age were more than blood drinkers - they drained the life force of their victims. In this fifth and final installment of our series on psychic detectives, we wrap up the exploration of this topic. We do have two additional episodes located in our Shadow Realm. To begin this episode, we start with addressing the characteristics that are required of a psychic detective. While you may not have considered it before, there are both mental and physical aspects of being a psychic detective that need to be understood. Moreover, the psychic's role in the dynamic of working with Law Enforcement Officers is also exceptionally important. We then launch into ten steps that are used to help develop psychic detective skills as laid out by psychic Dan Brown. Finally, we feature a case file from Gerard Croiset, the Scrying Dutchman, who is likely the most documented, and prolific, psychic detective. This case is one where Croiset worked with the FBI on a high-profile case that rocked the United States in the mid-1960s: The Mississippi Burning Murders. In this episode, we examine the work of psychic detectives from yet another angle. This time, we explore the law enforcement agencies and how they work in particular with psychic detectives. You'll learn about the upside and downside of working with psychic detectives from a police perspective through a couple case files, including the infamous serial killer, John Wayne Gacy. You will also learn what major police publications have to say about working with psychics. Then you'll learn about one of the most successful psychic detectives in the history of the United States. Beverly Jaegers was astounding as an individual psychic detective, but then she took it one step further and joined with several other psychics to form a psi squad that would tackle cases as a group. We hope you are enjoying this series! This episode was researched, written and produced by me, Tim Woolworth. In the third installment of this series, we first look into what the word 'psychic' entails and how a psychic is different from a 'medium.'Then we get to the good stuff. The psychic detective we profile in this episode is Nancy Myer-Czetli who realized her abilities about 50 years ago. Nancy has worked with the police on over 2000 cases during her career. This episode features two harrowing psychic visions. The first one led to Nancy being recognized as someone with exceptional clairvoyance and retrocognition. Following up on the beginning of our paranormal journey into psychic detectives, we were stoked for this second episode as we begin to explore modern cases that were solved by psychics. We begin the enigma that was Arthur Price Roberts. He was a clairvoyant who worked on cased and solved them with uncanny accuracy for over 50 years. He called for the information from his subconscious mind and it was usually delivered. He found bodies and missing persons with ease. He was even able to see the future, and his predictions about the Mad Bomber of Milwaukee were well documented - weeks before the first explosion! Then we look into the Chicago Seeress, Irene Hughes. Blessed with second sight from a very young age, she worked on over 2000 cases with the police during her lifetime. She also had visions about the Kennedy family tragedies, an incident regarding NASA, and so much more. This episode was researched, written and produced by me, Tim Woolworth. This is the first episode of our series about psychic detective work. We found this topic endlessly fascinating throughout the course of research for this series. There are so many cases that have been solved via the work of psychic detectives that it is simply astounding that they are not used more.In the world of the paranormal, ESP is a well known concept in PSI. The psychic detectives we cover in the episode start to introduce us to this concept. In this episode, we cover the work of two Australian psychics who were able to find missing persons through their unique methods of divination. We then go back centuries to examine the first court case that may have been solved through the help of a ghost. For our final segment, we examine how a spiritualist and medium, Robert James Lees, found himself an unwitting psychic detective that might have been able to solve one of the most sensational murder cases of the 19th century, none other that the case of Jack the Ripper, had police listened to him. In this fourth episode of our Noisy Spirits series, we wrap up our exploration of the paranormal world of poltergeist phenomenon.First, you will hear about a case from Poland that involved a young lady in the middle of a multi-year poltergeist event examined by scientists, city officials, and medical doctors. The case was so exceptional that she was placed in a medical facility where the events continued under strict observation! Then we wrap up this journey by starting with some surprising statistics for poltergeist events. Finally, I take you through a typical manifestation, from how it starts, to climax, to dissolution. This is a very important section for understanding the poltergeist phenomenon. Throughout this second half of the episode, we use several brief cases to help you understand the points being made about poltergeist characteristics. In this third episode of our Noisy Spirits series, we continue our exploration of the paranormal world of poltergeist phenomenon. We cover two monumental poltergeist manifestation cases in depth during this episode. These cases are different than the other cases we've covered thus far because they both involved scientists successfully working towards understanding the poltergeist phenomenon. The first case occurred in Germany where the phenomenon changed as expectations of the phenomenon changed. One of the really neat aspects of this case is that numerous experts from various fields were on hand as witnesses while ruling out common causes, including famed parapsychologist Dr. Hans Bender. The second case was rare as a parapsychologist, Dr. William Roll, was on the scene as the event was occurring. This case is fascinating because scientific controls were applied to the poltergeist phenomenon, a type of paranormal event that prior to this case was thought to be uncontrollable. More importantly, those same scientific controls yielded fascinating evidence. This episode was researched, written and produced by me, Tim Woolworth. In this second episode of our Noisy Spirits series, we continue our exploration of the poltergeist phenomenon. This episode begins with a quick recap of what we learned in episode one and introduces you to the paranormal term "Lithobolia."We then move to the 20th century and cover a case that helped bring the word "poltergeist" to common parlance. This case involved a famous parapsychical investigator, Harry Price, and it was covered all throughout the UK by the press. As you will hear, this case was quite remarkable.Next we move to a case in Baltimore where psychology was used by Dr. Nandor Fodor on a case to help alleviate the manifestation. This was a monumental case because it solidly put a poltergeist event in the realm of parapsychology. Finally, we go over various types of manifestations found in poltergeist cases and briefly cover a couple case files to explore some poltergeist events even further. This episode was researched, written and produced by me, Tim Woolworth. In the first episode of our Noisy Spirits series, we begin our exploration of the poltergeist phenomenon.Beginning with a ninth century case in Bavaria, we can see the impact that poltergeists can have on an individual. We started here because it is the first poltergeist case on official record! We then fast forward a millennium to Turin where Cesare Lombroso used science in solving a poltergeist eruption. Through scientific observation and experimentation, the case was solved in a few short weeks. This case helped to solidify the notion of person-centeredness, not place-centeredness during a poltergeist manifestation. This paranormal knowledge helped to inform the scientific investigation of poltergeist cases going forward. Finally, we wrap up with an introduction to some modern theory about poltergeists, including the term Recurrent Spontaneous Psychokinesis (RSPK) which will become a much more important term in future episodes in this series. This episode was researched, written and produced by me, Tim Woolworth.
