Oggi, chi si è battezzato può dire con orgoglio "ora appartengo a Gesù". Essere in Cristo significa essere una nuova creatura, come dice 2 Corinzi 5:17. Il battesimo rappresenta una scelta di identificarsi con Cristo, simbolizzando la sua morte e risurrezione.Nel passo di Matteo 22:15-22, i farisei cercavano di intrappolare Gesù con una domanda sul tributo a Cesare. Gesù risponde dicendo di dare a Cesare ciò che gli appartiene e a Dio ciò che appartiene a Dio. La moneta, con l'immagine di Cesare, diventa un simbolo profetico di Cristo come "Figlio di Dio" e "Sommo Sacerdote". Oggi, però, spesso diamo a "Cesare" ciò che dovrebbe appartenere a Dio, come il nostro tempo, risorse e pensieri.Dio ci ha creati a sua immagine (Genesi 1:26) e la nostra identità è definita da Lui. Non dobbiamo cercare chi siamo, ma scoprire chi siamo in Cristo. La nostra chiamata è di vivere secondo il piano di Dio, portando frutto e moltiplicandoci, non dominati dal mondo, ma con dominio sulla nostra vita.Mentre il mondo ci dice di cercare il piacere e vivere per il presente, Dio ci invita a vivere con uno scopo eterno, attraverso il sacrificio di Gesù, che ci ha dato una speranza di vita eterna (1 Pietro 1:3-4).Il battesimo è un atto di obbedienza, un simbolo pubblico della nostra identificazione con Cristo. È una dichiarazione di fede: accettiamo Cristo come nostro Signore e Salvatore, rinunciando al peccato, e confermiamo la nostra appartenenza a Lui.

La scrittura è per lui «un prepotente bisogno», e un ripiega­mento sarebbe inconcepibile: «la realtà deve essere, il resto non importa». Con i proventi della corvée presso i Servizi tec­nici del Vaticano finanzierà dunque nel 1934 Il castello di Udine: libro variegato, ri­luttante a ogni definizione di genere, sti­listicamente tracotante. I ricordi di guer­ra ci consegnano la bruciante delusione di chi ha visto il sogno di «una vivente pa­tria, come nei libri di Livio e di Cesare» annientato dall'incapacità degli alti coman­di di raffigurarsi le «correlazioni comples­se» che legano l'esercito «al resto del mon­do»; dal mito, «ignobile e turpe», della furberia; da una prigionia che lo ha travol­to «verso la riva dell'inutilità». Ma subito dopo la cronaca di una crociera nel Medi­terraneo proietta l'immagine di un mon­dano, ironico reporter; l'invettiva contro i musici di strada, molesti perturbatori delle notti milanesi, quella di un bizzoso moralista; il racconto La fidanzata di Elio – dove le virtù di Luisa lasciano presagire una vi­ta «drappeggiata di linòleum, risfolgorata di nichelio» – quella di un incendiario Robespierre della borghesia milanese. A ben vedere, tuttavia, un filo rosso, tenace e se­greto, unisce queste prose in apparenza di­sparate, screziandole di dolore e di san­gue, come se la prima sezione gettasse fiot­ti d'ombra su tutta la raccolta: il lutto insa­nabile per chi è caduto in guerra – come il fratello Enrico, «la parte migliore e più ca­ra di me stesso».Carlo Emilio Gadda nasce a Milano nel 1893. Si iscrive al Politecnico per studiare ingegneria ma nel 1915 parte volontario per il fronte (e solo nel 1955 pubblica il Giornale di guerra e di prigionia sulla dolorosa esperienza della guerra). Collaboratore della rivista “Solaria”, dal 1931, dopo aver esercitato per anni la professione di ingegnere, riesce a dedicarsi completamente all'attività letteraria e pubblica La madonna dei filosofi a cui segue, nel 1934, Il castello di Udine. Nel 1936 scrive La cognizione del dolore (pubblicato in volume nel 1963 e nel 1970). Nel 1940 si trasferisce a Firenze dove frequenta critici e scrittori; nel 1944 pubblica la raccolta di racconti L'Adalgisa. Dal 1950 è a Roma dove lavora alla Rai e redige le Norme per la redazione di un testo radiofonico. Ottiene una grande notorietà con Quer pasticciaccio brutto di via Merulana (pubblicato in volume nel 1957), un giallo senza soluzione, ambientato nella Roma del 1927. Ditemi: 4 il battesimo di Giovanni veniva dal cielo o dagli uomini?» 5 Ed essi ragionavano così tra di loro: «Se diciamo: “Dal cielo”, egli ci dirà: “Perché[a] non gli credeste?” 6 Ma se diciamo: “Dagli uomini”, tutto il popolo ci lapiderà, perché è persuaso che Giovanni fosse un profeta». 7 E risposero di non sapere da dove venisse. 8 Gesù disse loro: «Neppure io vi dico con quale autorità faccio queste cose».Parabola dei vignaiuoli9 Poi cominciò a dire al popolo questa parabola: «Un uomo piantò una vigna, la affittò a dei vignaiuoli e se ne andò in viaggio per molto tempo. 10 Al tempo della raccolta[b] mandò un servo da quei vignaiuoli perché gli dessero una parte del frutto della vigna; ma i vignaiuoli, dopo averlo percosso, lo rimandarono a mani vuote. 11 Egli mandò un altro servo; ma dopo aver percosso e insultato anche questo, lo rimandarono a mani vuote. 12 Egli ne mandò ancora un terzo; e quelli, dopo aver ferito anche questo, lo scacciarono. 13 Allora il padrone della vigna disse: “Che farò? Manderò il mio diletto figlio; forse a lui porteranno rispetto[c]”. 14 Ma quando i vignaiuoli lo videro, fecero tra di loro questo ragionamento: “Costui è l'erede; [venite,] uccidiamolo, affinché l'eredità diventi nostra”. 15 E lo cacciarono fuori dalla vigna e lo uccisero. Dunque che cosa farà loro il padrone della vigna? 16 Verrà e sterminerà quei vignaiuoli, e darà la vigna ad altri».
