With his passion for writing, animals, and folklore, he is using his abilities to share all of HPC's knowledge with the online world. Werewolves have been living in our nightmares, literature, and films for decades; but how did the first werewolf come to be? Why does it only come out during a full moon? Why is being bitten and/or scratched by one turn the victim into a werewolf? Different cultures have different versions of a werewolf; ranging from humans transforming through natural means or curses placed upon unfortunate souls, but many never go into specifics about how the very first werewolf came to life. With hundreds of iterations being told, let's see how the very first werewolf came to be. Lana Del Ray - Born to Die | Album Review

Play Episode Listen Later May 22, 2020 15:36

Lana del ray born to die We’ve all had that feeling about at least one game, comic book, movie, etc., that comes out: “Gee, I could do better than this! This is overrated.” But it’s important to take a step back and realize that, hey, they put in the time to finish a project and I haven’t. That’s at least one thing they might be better than me at, and it’s probably why they have the recognition I don’t! If you treat finishing like a skill, rather than simply a step in the process, you can acknowledge not only that it’s something you can get better at, but also what habits and thought processes get in your way. -derek yu I don’t know why but this album just makes me crazy the insanity of metal and need to just throw stuff. Half way through the second song I moved to listening To megadeth last rites. I made a lot of assumptions about this artist, I actually realized that I may have never heard a single song by Lana del Ray. This does not sound like the typical pop I thought this artist was. There’s a lot of descriptions online about what genre this is. I am not sure what it is. But you can go on wikipedia and identify it. But there’s definitely some pop elements. As a “metal head” I gotta admit I struggle with it. It goes against a lot of stereotypes about myself. “I’m jon I don’t listen to pop! This popular! This isn’t fast or filled with people playing their instruments and showin off!” This album reminds me of some of the limited folk I have in my library. It’s kind of cool that music that harkens to that sound can be this crazy popular. It’s not badly done. As a “GAMER” I wish that video games song had more to do with video games but Black Out Band’s video games really did a great job with that. I actually wish I had heard more of this on the top 40 radio but I am not sure how much play it gets but at the same time this artist is very popular I may have no idea what I’m talking about. Should you listen to this? I don’t know a lot of people have listened to it already do you like pop but what DIFFERENT POP then you may have found the album for you. It’s obviously well put together. I wish I had a track that captured me stronger but I am not sure if I’ll come back to this album very often. I think that when you have a super popular artist that you haven’t listened to it’s always worth listening to a couple of singles like “summer time saddness” and seeing if they get you. Some people only listen to music, that has a large audience “crowds follow crowds” I’m guilty of it, I listen to popular artists within metal and some hiphop too. It helps sift through what’s good and what’s bad. There’s obvious good writing here and I enjoy the vocal delivery especially when the words fly out fast. They did a good job. Many of the songs have song writers Lana del ray and rick Nowels. Do I feel like it’s captured my human experience? No. Is it extremely competent? Yes. Should you listen? If you like pop or older folk Americana music I don’t know what it’s called. I do wish that pop followed more of this trend of you know...differentiating itself. There’s songs about wanting to be dead not typical pop, dark paradise is a pretty good song. I found myself humming it while listening to it. Off to the races kinda catchy The “joy orbinson” song came out of left field https://tusharvaghela.wordpress.com/2014/06/18/make-games-finishing-a-game/ --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/albumoftheweek/message

胡蝶の夢、十の夜 or Pewdiepie Retour Album by Audace

Audace This album was released in 2007.We didn't have distributor for this album at that time. We pressed only 500 copies and had sold them to audience at venues we had played. Now we have no physicals. We provide it as digital download only. credits released October 1, 2007 audace Manabu Kitada /clarinettes Shiko Ito /accordeon I finished the album. There is quite a bit going on here these two players are extremely good at playing their respective instruments. Apparently this album was popularized by PEWDIEPIE, a famous Swedish YouTuber, particularly the song retour. I actually was presented with the option to buy the album on Bandcamp when I tried listening to it a second time through. It said it’s time to open thy heart and wallet and no I did not buy it and then there was an animation of a heart breaking. I don’t want to waste Bandcamps bandwidth. The album is not available on Apple Music or Spotify. Nor are any of the other albums. I actually feel guilty for not buying the album. I would continue to on YouTube but your unable to exit the app unless you have red. If you like accordions or clarinet def listen. I kept getting this feeling listening to it that I was playing FF9 when your in some of the town settings since that game had a lighter OST and some of the lighter songs of ff7. I would love to enjoy this music live and now that it’s done I am wishing I could experience it all over again. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.redd... I think that Music streaming has made the widest amount of music available but at the same time it has made listening music less special in a way music plays and bandwidth seem unlimited. But bandwidth costs money and companies like Bandcamp need our support. I reallly recommend downloading the app and listening to people’s music and deciding if they are worth giving some money towards supporting ad free music. I know I value it that’s why I pay for an Apple Music subscription but I feel like I miss out not having spotify on suggestions. It all reminds me of bill burr and Bryan redban arguing about whether artists should have to perform or just be happy for exposure of what they create digitally. https://youtu.be/Ry-h8b62FZI I highly recommend reading anything you want by cd baby creator. That’s how we release our music. Full book: Anything You Want | Derek Sivers --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/albumoftheweek/message

Hennessy and Heartbreak - DYD | Single Review

Hennessy and Heartbreak by DYD | Single Review followed by some Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes https://www.facebook.com/dydtheband/ I enjoy this song. I listen to it a lot. I found this group because I was looking for music that my friend who passed had liked, he linked to two artists. I added both to my library. I instantly connected to this "emo" "arty" "hiphop". I think it's got a real catchiness to it. I don't love the term emo because I think it's a disservice to the music. This music was really comforting to me in a really dark time in my life, losing a friend, not just any friend but someone who contributed so much value to society as whole, isn't easy. Especially at a time when all music didn't feel right listening to. Please give DYD a listen. The trio, I believe, released an album called Summer Time Lovers which is also worth listening to. I really enjoy this group's slow and catchy style, I connect with the lyrics sometimes too. I will be returning to listen to this group, and be glad to connect it to memories of my friend who introduced me to them after he passed. I get some nujabes vibes as well. Went to Italy for a tour, interesting!? A German electronic duo from Darmstadt, Germany. It was formed by Kai Richter and Felix Heuser. They use a Commodore 64 and a Game Boy to produce their trademark 8-bit electronica sound. While guitarist and singer Richter also handles the C64, Heuser is responsible for the Game Boy sounds. They describe themselves as “Gameboy [sic] meets Lagerfeuer” (Game Boy meets campfire). Brave new world - Pornophonique Album art: awesome love the style, the little guy looks like gus Describe their music as gameboy meets lagerfeuer (campfire) Really enjoy the first two minutes, then it got away from the digital stuff which i really enjoyed Love the auto tune vocals and how digital mid way through fav song so far (awesome break down) Loving the guitar chord and gameboy interplay, easy to groove into and melancholy, catchiest song so far Love the guitar riff, this album has this groove chill I’m really liking it Chill nice unobnoxious guitar solid song Cool Cool kinda sonic 2 battle kinda song, great guitar solo, there’s a really cool part after solo too, outro too, top song This band is like power man 5000 if spiderone wasn’t trying to out do his brother rob zombie, ooh this songs a little dark This band should be bigger then they are they seem to have pop sensibilities not always my sensibilities but also have an albility to go hard. My recommendation is listen to space invaders on their first album lager feurer and listen to this album if you have any love for guitars and 80s gaming. This album made me reach into other synth pop like The Decemberists - Severed. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/albumoftheweek/message

Miniature Tigers - F O R T R E S S NOTE: Please excuse the audio on this, I will do my best to do better next time. ANY feedback appreciated. I like how dynamic the songs sound. You don’t always know what corner they’ll turn. I like the reverb. The lyrics. I relate really hard to the depressiveness and anxious, isolating feelings. It sounds so rich and layered and very grandiose. I like the imagery it produces. The melodies are some of the most pleasant I’ve heard on an album. Mansion of misery “You've built a palace up around yourself A mansion of misery Can't train the ocean that keeps you out to sea” “I’m trapped in this negative vibe” Mountain troll “stared into your mind” “Crying on a curb outside Makes you look like someone died You look like me the night I split in two” A wellness skull is a sensory depravation chamber shaped like a skull! Like a dark sauna. “Let it separate you from yourself from your heart and thoughts you can’t control” “Live your life inside a room” Dark tower “Living in a dark tower, getting darker by the hour Will I wake up from a dark, dark daydream? Nothing can wake me from myself, not you or nobody else” “Don’t follow me” Gold skull “Think I'll stay home and chill out here tonight I'm turning off my cell phone” “I watched my mind go down in the smoke” Bullfighter Jacket “Pale skin A black bow in your head I know that you're half-crazy But I don't care” “Take my skin to add to your collection” “I had to take my mask off To kiss you in the street Summer turns to fall My head's up on your wall” Egyptian Robe “I've waited long enough, now I have you Under the sheets in my room, Is my body just a tomb for the girls that I've had in the past” --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/albumoftheweek/message
