Folks, let me give you a piece of advice; when your AdBlocker subscription is about to run out and you have a TV night planned for your employees - please remember to renew that thing immediately. You have no idea how mad people get when they're forced to watch the same Fruity Pebbles commercial fifty seven times… I'm your host, Dave, and joining me as we rot our brains with some good old fashioned late 90s and early 2000s kids commercials are fellow tv-philes and recovering Waffle Crisp addicts, Mike, Jackie, and Ryan. Topics of discussion in this episode include a plea to the kids of the past to stop eating so much damn sugary cereal!!!; we long for the journalistic integrity of Nick News; and finally, we pour one out for AOL, the internet juggernaut of the 90s. Be sure to rate, review and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. You can also Follow Us on Twitter, Like Us on Facebook, or shoot us an email at apocalypsevideopod@gmail.com What are some of your childhood commercial favorites? Were you a Cookie Crisp kid or a Chips Ahoy! fan? Let us know, we wanna hear from ya. And if you want to watch along with us as we rot our brains on this episode, be sure to head over to YouTube to check out the best commercials that 1999 Nickelodeon and 2003 Toonami have to offer. That'll do it for this episode, folks. Remember to include some non-sugary cereals in your breakfast routine once and a while, and for god's sake, whatever you do, do NOT eat the Lunchables Burgers - they're not as delicious as you think they are.
Hey where to start? We watched TV, there was a Nintendo Direct, Sonic happened, politics got weird, games got weirder, it feels like 2005 again, and there's actually good news in gaming labor rights! It's always nice when people reach out and ask to be guests on the podcast. Shad, host of The Sidequest Hustle Podcast, did just that, and here we are! Shad kicks things off with a conversation about anime. Being that we're close in age, we cover a number of classic animes that started off on Toonami, and discuss watching anime at all hours of night. We talk about Gundam, as well as getting his personal Top 5 Anime, and his Top 5 anime that he'd recommend to others. We also talk about what kind of anime he prefers - seasonal, long form, and how much time he'll give to new series. From there, we delve into the flip side of anime, which is manga. Shad talks about how and why anime pointed him in the direction of manga, with his thought of "That can't be how this ends". And he was right. Which anime are we talking about? Listen to the episode and find out. Shad talks about the manga that he enjoys, what he looks for, and more. Then we're talking all about The Sidequest Hustle Podcast. Shad hosts this podcast, exploring Blerd culture, anime, comics, video games, and more. He's looking for guests, and if you're interested, you can find the link below. Take a listen to his show! In Memory Dave Mallow (1948-2025) George Lowe (1957-2025) The ides of "Smarch" are upon us and they've gotten off to a stupid start. Alas, we're still here doing our thing to help alleviate the continued existential dread we all have to deal with in the world. We've got Amazon getting back into the anime simulcast game in a big way, Crunchyroll trying to make good with a big partner of theirs, Viz kickstarting convention season with a pair of sizable announcements of their own, and some dates for some upcoming seasons that will - at the very least - get a reaction out of folks. Welcome back, apologies for the short delay between episodes. things have been... weird in the US. Chris and Steve spend a bit of time decompressing, talking about shows they almost covered but didn't. Including Mr McMahon and Doctor Odyssey. Before we finally get to a new Cartoon on Adult Swim. Invincible Fight Girl! It's a pretty cute show, it fits into the wrestling trope for our podcast, and we liked it. If you want to jump straight to Invincible Fight Girl, skip ahead to about 38:00 Plus, Crossovers and 30 second pitches!

We're proud to unveil the first installment of Anime Was (Not) A Mistake: Midnight Run! In this Toonami-centric format, we take to the stars to enjoy a few anime classics from that beloved programming block. The first series to be showcased are none other than The Big O and Outlaw Star, which you may (hopefully) remember from our Pizza Party Preview event. In The Big O, Roger the Negotiator solves mysteries and fights titanic threats alongside the titular Megadeus. The Big O is not the only mechanical marvel hidden within Paradigm City, which experience a mass amnesia event 40 years before the present day. In Outlaw Star, Gene Starwind and his friends take flight to find the Galactic Leyline and the treasure hidden there. Such a quest requires an extraordinary starship, one that Pirates and Outlaws alike are ready to kill for. One-Punch Man (Japanese: ワンパンマン, Hepburn: Wanpanman) is a Japanese superhero manga series created by One. It tells the story of Saitama, a superhero who, because he can defeat any opponent with a single punch, grows bored from a lack of challenge. One wrote the original webcomic manga version in early 2009. A digital manga remake, illustrated by Yusuke Murata, began publication on Shueisha's Tonari no Young Jump website in June 2012. Its chapters are periodically compiled and published into individual tankōbon volumes. As of March 2024, 30 volumes have been released. In North America, Viz Media licensed the remake manga for English language release and has serialized it in its Weekly Shonen Jump digital magazine. An anime adaptation produced by Madhouse was broadcast in Japan from October to December 2015. A second season, produced by J.C.Staff, was broadcast from April to July 2019. A third season also by J.C.Staff has been announced. Licensed in North America by Viz Media, it premiered in the United States on Adult Swim's Toonami programming block in July 2016. The second season premiered on the block in October 2019. By June 2012, the original webcomic manga surpassed 7.9 million hits. By April 2020, the manga remake had sold over 30 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time.
