Send us a Text Message.Welcome to Guess the Year! This is an interactive, competitive podcast series where you will be able to play along and compete against your fellow listeners. Here is how the scoring works:1 point: get the year correct within 10 years (e.g., you guess 1975 and it is between 1965-1985)4 points: get the year correct within 5 years (e.g., you guess 2004 and it is between 1999-2009)7 points: get the year correct within 2 years (e.g., you guess 1993 and it is between 1991-1995)10 points: get the year dead on!Guesses can be emailed to drandrewmay@gmail.com or texted using the link at the top of the show notes (please leave your name).I will read your scores out before the next episode, along with the scores of your fellow listeners! We pour one out for the late, great Ennio Morricone, bear witness to Margo Price tapping into her inner Stevie Nicks, and pop open a 6-pack of tracks each from a couple of world-class badass digital compilations. All this & much, much less!
The Crow (1994) was surely gonna launch Brandon Lee into superstardom but unfortunately his time was cut short. On today's show we have Laurence Mason (Hackers, True Romance) who portrayed Tin Tin, Angel David (G.I. Jane, Salt) who played Skank, Marco Rodriguez (Cobra, Once Upon A Time..) who played Officer Torres, and the iconic makeup artist Lance Anderson (Planet of the Apes, etc) who worked directly with the late Brandon Lee. Come back in time with us to hear these new and extraordinary stories. Our minds were blown by these tales and listen to us let loose recreating our favorite scene and wrap up with Charlie Brand of the indie-pop band The Miniature Tigers, on how The Crow has impacted various generations.
Miniature Tigers - F O R T R E S S NOTE: Please excuse the audio on this, I will do my best to do better next time. ANY feedback appreciated. I like how dynamic the songs sound. You don’t always know what corner they’ll turn. I like the reverb. The lyrics. I relate really hard to the depressiveness and anxious, isolating feelings. It sounds so rich and layered and very grandiose. I like the imagery it produces. The melodies are some of the most pleasant I’ve heard on an album. Mansion of misery “You've built a palace up around yourself A mansion of misery Can't train the ocean that keeps you out to sea” “I’m trapped in this negative vibe” Mountain troll “stared into your mind” “Crying on a curb outside Makes you look like someone died You look like me the night I split in two” A wellness skull is a sensory depravation chamber shaped like a skull! Like a dark sauna. “Let it separate you from yourself from your heart and thoughts you can’t control” “Live your life inside a room” Dark tower “Living in a dark tower, getting darker by the hour Will I wake up from a dark, dark daydream? Nothing can wake me from myself, not you or nobody else” “Don’t follow me” Gold skull “Think I'll stay home and chill out here tonight I'm turning off my cell phone” “I watched my mind go down in the smoke” Bullfighter Jacket “Pale skin A black bow in your head I know that you're half-crazy But I don't care” “Take my skin to add to your collection” “I had to take my mask off To kiss you in the street Summer turns to fall My head's up on your wall” Egyptian Robe “I've waited long enough, now I have you Under the sheets in my room, Is my body just a tomb for the girls that I've had in the past” --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/albumoftheweek/message

There's so much music out there for the masses to devour yet genres seem to be compartmentalized more than ever. With today's pop being the primary "influencer", is diversity truly a thing of the past? Music tends to be cyclical, so we're hopeful that variety will prevail in the years to come.Songs sampledMiniature Tigers – “Manic Upswings” from Vampires In The DaylightBeck – “Say Goodbye” from Morning PhaseGary Clark Jr. – “This Land” from This LandDeath Angel – “The Pack” from HumanicideHalestorm – “Black Vultures” from ViscousAlice Cooper – “Paranormal” from ParanormalWarpaint – “Whiteout” from Heads UpRival Sons – “Good Luck” from Great Western ValkyrieAmbulance Ltd – “Stay Tuned” from LPSpotify Playlist

On this E-mail from America, the show heads to DeathFest. We've got your attention now, haven't we? Well, DeathFest is a music festival featuring Heavy Metal music, and while the E-mail isn't big on metal, that didn't stop correspondent Whitney Purdum sitting down with two film-makers who are putting the finishing touches on a documentary featuring all things DeathFest. Meanwhile Zeff enjoys the Columbus Day Holiday weekend by pondering what really is "nationality" - from ancient ancestry to Jack Wilshere's England comments to immigration - the issue is especially pertinent for Americans. As always a ton of great American music including: Jack White Miniature Tigers Mr Little Jeans Zeff talks all over Voodoo Ray by A Guy Called Gerald and this week's aged 60s pop reference is a classic from Simon and Garfunkel. -- http://www.twitter.com/z1radio http://www.ZoneOneRadio.com http://www.facebook.com/ZoneOneRadio #nationality #immigration #deathfest #mddeathfest #metal #death #rock #film #filmmaking #documentary
Miniature Tigers stop by to chat about music, high school, and a harrowing run-in w/ Law Enforcement.
Snow My God! SNOMG! Snow Effing Way! Seattle gets snowed in and The Gang tries to think of the various stupid ways to describe it. Plus, Miniature Tigers thrill and delight us with their talking and songs.
Miniature Tigers stop by TBTL Studios to play some music and talk about their awkward trip (well 3 trips really) to an 'adult dancing' cabaret in Portland.
