Police brutality is some thing we all have to acknowledge and fight against. But there is some thing that is more Heynis and more evil than that. It robs people of justice and encourage his bad behavior. Listen to this episode and you’ll find out what it is. #Security #PoliceBrutality #BlackLivesMatter #CorporateSecurity
I discuss the current events happening in Seattle and the choices some police departments are making to do away with reasonable riot control tactics and tools.
Is defunding the police a good idea in light of the murder of George Floyd and racial unease?

It's impressive what you can do when you get up early in the morning. Happy Easter, Happy Resurrection Sunday. NYC's number show 5742 JHU's numbers show 6370 If you are just tuning in, the numbers are the deaths reported from COVID in NYC from the NYC Department of health website and the John Hopkins University. They have been off since day one. Which group is reporting correctly? https://news.yahoo.com/coronavirus-found-air-samples-13-feet-patients-231032581.html https://ncov2019.live/ https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-states-of-america/new-york https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-data.page
I really wanted to record a podcast for you today but the noise level in the house was unbearable. :) I'm sure you all understand. In any case, I will talk to you tomorrow. Day 27.
Lamentably, the Covid-19 crisis has gotten so out of hand that the stakeholders are in fear and letting fear determine their choices. The only way the crisis management team can get control over the narrative is to change the way the messaging is being released. And lamentably there has to be a scapegoat to blame the overreaction on. The numbers...NYC is reporting 5,429 deaths and JHU is reporting 5,820 deaths in NYC. Compared to yesterday's numbers NYC is reporting 651 dead since yesterday and JHU is reporting 670 since yesterday. This, at least is a 19 point delta which is better than the 154 point delta seen on the 8th. They are still way off. https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-data.page https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html https://ncov2019.live/ https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-states-of-america/new-york https://www.foxnews.com/us/washington-field-hospital-coronavirus-dismantle https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/panicked-passengers-jump-ferry-after-21838451
Crime hasn't taken a break. There are still kidnappings, theft and burglary of vehicles, and robberies and assaults. And if things do start going back to "normal" crime will increase. Our numbers from NYC are 4778, which shows an increase of 518 from yesterday and from JHU 5150, which shows an increase of 579. The number are still very wonky in that they aren't even close. This points back to the information that is coming out of the crisis management teams. Since this is a Global pandemic there should be a Federal CM team and State Crisis Management teams. And they should be working together. In the business world if a person or group of people in authority were to speak out-of-turn or question the CM leader that person would be relieved of command, and removed. But in this case we are seeing multiple versions of the "truth" which leads to confusion and distrust. https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-states-of-america/new-york https://ncov2019.live/ https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-data.page https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html
Today is Passover. "gut yom tov". Have a joyous and kosher Passover. The links of the sites I use https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-states-of-america/new-york https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-data.page https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html
Today we are talking about the supermoon, the strange numbers that are still coming out from New York City and John Hopkins University, The webinar platform called zoom and it security issues, and finally when can we get back to work. How are you staying mentally aware and alert? How are you staying mentally positive? I am using my own list starting with exercise, sunshine, fresh food, no alcohol, remain social, and establish good routines. NYC Health Management page: https://on.nyc.gov/2x5d9m0 JHU medical Center's page: https://bit.ly/2xMEp8R New Covid19 Website: https://ncov2019.live/
When is the crisis going to be over? This si the main answer that needs answering in every crisis management meeting. It drives projections, responses, and delivery. Once again the number in NYC and JHU are off. NYC is reporting 2738 dead JHU is reporting 3485 dead What is going on?
Crisis Management Communications must be clear and concise. New York City's Death Numbers are still OFF. Today the NYC Health Management page reports 2,472 deaths (218 more than yesterday). And JHU reports 2256 deaths (368 less than yesterday). NYC Health Management page: https://on.nyc.gov/2x5d9m0 JHU medical Center's page: https://bit.ly/2xMEp8R Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont's lie https://bit.ly/2R91f1l Candice Owens Discovers the truth https://bit.ly/2V3O6I7 https://bit.ly/2JE2pxJ The Italy has determined that only 12% of their death toll was actually from Covid. https://bit.ly/3bYoSkX
When managing a crisis, the crisis management team must be clear and concise in its communications. Is it isn't, it risks losing the trust of its employees and stakeholders. As of this moment John Hopkins University of Medicine is reporting 2,624 deaths in NYC. But NYC department of health page is reporting 2,254. How is it that JHU is reporting 370 more deaths than NYC? Which website is correct? The NYC page says that it doesn't have the most up to date numbers. I can understand if we are talking about a discrepancy of up to 50 people maybe.....but 370? No way. One or the other of both are incorrect. In any case they are losing the public's trust. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/ https://infographics.channelnewsasia.com/covid-19/map.html https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-data.page

Something doesn't add up for me as i watch the News and read the official reports from the CDC, WHO and the Whitehouse, but we still need to remain Alert and Aware. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/share-facts.html?CDC_AA_refVal=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdc.gov%2Fcoronavirus%2F2019-ncov%2Fsymptoms-testing%2Fshare-facts.html My YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/grimesgab
After scouring the internet I found the day the WhiteHouse declared the 14 day lockdown. March 16, 2020. If we did that here in the US would that be legal? Would we even care? Would we be trading in our constitutional rights in exchange for an offered "safe space"? Working from home will change your perspective and your awareness. It's up to you to stay focused and aware as these changes affect the way you see the world and how you will respond to them.
Being locked up in your house for 13 days with your family is a beautiful thing. But, it can drive some people up the wall. What are you doing to help your family or the managers in your company to avoid this type of situation? How are you protecting your family from falling into a depression because they can no longer attend school, attend a social gathering that is part of their routine, or see their friends? In this episode I talk about The steps you can take to avoid this situation and how to be more prepared.
Like the self-imposed quarantine’s, are we focusing on the wrong things? Are we aware of all the possibilities of an infection? Do we have the right plans in place for when an intruder makes it through our perimeter?
Today, I discuss people‘s fears and how it is important to consider others in developing policies and procedures.
It's Christmas time and people act out irrationally which opens themselves up for disaster. Do us all a favor and walk circumspect.
Human trafficking is a terrible reality that lives all around us. In this episode i go over a few tips and tricks on how to pick up on the signs and take care of our kids.
In this episode I talk about frustration which is the worst enemy you can have during this Thanksgiving season. Frustration is lurking and waiting to attack. It will blind you to the risks and threats all around. I'm going to tell you how to tell if you are frustrated and how to overcome.
There is power in a gift. It's neither bad or good but it's something you need to be aware.
It is imperative that we teach our children how to handle active shooter situations. We need to be clear on escape routes. What to do when you aren't around. Rendezvous points in the store and outside the store. Identify the exit doors. Give them permission to run away and make noise. This is our responsibility as adults to train and help them take those first steps. You are security.
Let's be clear on one thing. You are Security. Your Security is based on what you do and don't do regarding the risks that you face everyday. That being said you might think that adding more cameras or guards is the best way to increase your awareness and preparation. And this isn't alway the right choice. As a corporate security manager, I would inform the executive of the events going on in the Company and when it came to a crisis or a risk that they hadn't thought of, they would often say, "Increase the security". This was translated to mean add more guards and cameras. And it was my job to take that direction and develop an environment that promoted security awareness and mitigated the gaps they perceived. In other words, I would come up with a simple plan that didn't alway need more cameras or guards but a simple change in policy or a tighter procedure to create the desired outcome. More physical security tools aren't the answer to everything. This is why it's important to do a proper assessment, identify the gaps in your organization, and select the proper solution to mitigate the gap. You will thank me later. #YouAreSecurity #YourSecurity #YoureSecurity
There is nothing as frightening as Home Invasions. Sure, a murder is definitely worse but a home invasion may take away the confidence in the one place you thought was safe and secure. It takes some people years to get over an event like that. Some never do. Tune in to this episode as I discuss Home Invasions and what you can do to stay secure. Using the four "D's" and an "R". The state of your mind plays an important role in your survival. When you're in a conversation, has anyone asked you, "Where are you?" because you had let your mind drift. You weren't present in the conversation. I realize that that is a little on the nose but it is the truth. So many people arent present in a conversation. They aren't present in life and this gives the bad elements an advantage. There are three things you need to have to stay mentally prepared: Have already made a decision to act when a crisis strikes Be alert to your surroundings Know and be comfortable with you plan Link to the News Article mentioned in the podcast. There’s a reason why we have processes. And it’s not to give us a headache although they can definitely be a pain in the butt. Processes safeguard us from social hacking, or as many call it, social engineering. When we have processes in place it makes it more difficult for us to make decisions that could hurt us in the long run. I always like it in spy movies when someone says “don’t trust anyone“. The reason why I like it, is because it’s true. We shouldn’t trust anyone. Even ourselves. The trust that we have in ourselves makes us vulnerable. That’s why processes help us stay on the straight and narrow. Enjoy episode 20. Don’t forget to like, share, repost and send me a message about how this podcast helped you or reminded you of something that you’ve lived through in your life.
Physical security is key to your survival. Digital security is key to your livelihood. In this episode I discuss some tactics and tools on how to remain secure while on your electronic devices. Free Wi-Fi isn’t really free. Let that sink in for a little bit as you listen to today’s episode.
Someone once asked to me, "How do I safeguard my valuables when I'm traveling around the house?" We all have to do it. There is no way around having to carry valuables when you leave your house or your hotel. You'll keep them in your pockets or you may keep them in a bag or purse, but you will have to carry them with you to accomplish your activities in the day. In this episode I explain a few of the best practices used by experienced International travelers throughout the world.
In this podcast I’m taking you on a Saturday morning drive. Come with me to the grocery store and go wash my car as I point out security features at the different locations I visit and also talk about risk and threat. What does that mean to you when you’re building your own personal security plan?
In this podcast I discuss how to respond to an illness while being on a trip. As an international corporate security manager I had my share of traveler incidents. The good thing was that along with the traveler's insurance we had processes and plans in place to take care of anything that might happen. I've seen sprained ankles, appendicitis, suicides, acute kidney failure, anaphylactic shock and even a shooting victim while I managed three to six thousand travelers all over the world at any given day. The recent deaths in the Dominican Republic are what the media is focusing on right now but these sort of events happen all over the World, every day. [NEWS LINK] As responsible individuals we need to plan our vacation, business trip, or holiday considering the possibility of a medical emergency in mind. This podcast is a must. :)
In this episode I talk about having a plan and how that is a key component in saving your life. I like to use real life examples of how, if applied, the keys to your security are effective. Last weekend a lady was robbed in the Local Mall parking lot as she was crossing the black top toward her car. All she had was her purse but the bad guy wrestled her to the ground and took off with it. Here is the link: https://abc13.com/woman-dragged-in-violent-purse-snatching-at-woodlands-mall-/5304131/ The point here is that she was unaware that we are psychologically prone to grab the thing that is being taken from us. and that we usually assign unrealistic value to our possessions. Because of this we place ourselves in a precarious position without even realizing it. What I mean is that when someone tries to take something from us we hold on to it and fight to keep it.
