Rhaja Rose grew up in Arizona — raised by his mom and stepfather without his father in the picture. Despite a passion for football that could have taken him somewhere, he dropped out of high school and joined the Crips. A home invasion led to a murder charge that sent him to Arizona's prison system for 12 years. In this episode of Locked In with Ian Bick, Rhaja opens up about surviving some of Arizona's most violent prisons — the gangs the politics and the daily violence that defines life behind bars. But halfway through his sentence something shifted. He dialed in, earned a college degree from inside his cell, turned his life completely around and came home with a new purpose — becoming a tattoo artist and building a life nobody saw coming. _____________________________________________ #gang #TrueCrime #prison _____________________________________________ Thank You To CASH APP For Sponsoring This Episode: Download Cash App Today: https://click.cash.app/ui6m/6pao71et #CashAppPod Cash App is a financial services platform, not a bank. January 31st. Scottsdale, Arizona. Two teenagers in fake FedEx uniforms force their way into a home, restrain two adults, and demand access to $66 million in cryptocurrency on instructions from anonymous handlers they'd never met. Investigators log it as the first verified U.S. "wrench attack" of 2026. That same night, roughly ninety minutes south in the Catalina Foothills, Nancy Guthrie is seen alive for the last time. The timing has fueled a theory now backed by former FBI agents and a major blockchain security firm — that Nancy's disappearance is connected to the same organized crypto crime networks carrying out violent home invasions across the globe. The model uses overseas handlers, encrypted communications, and expendable recruits to target wealthy individuals or their family members. Proponents argue Nancy fits the proxy-target pattern and that the operative on her porch looks exactly like the kind of disposable recruit these networks deploy.Tony Brueski walks through the theory with the seriousness it deserves and then puts it through the filter of what the evidence actually shows. The crypto connection that doesn't exist. The camera improvisation that doesn't match a handler briefing. The CertiK classification built on ransom demands already separated from the crime. A theory can sound right and still not hold up — this episode is the difference between the two.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? A couple head to a cabin vacation home following a wedding and while experiencing relationship issues, they're surprised by masked intruders who make their night full of panic. The Strangers is the movie of discussion for the finale of Home Invasion month. When this movie came out, there was a lot of hype surrounding how real it felt as a home invasion movie, primarily due to the lack of motive from the intruders. We're uncertain the movie holds up from a terror perspective, but it's certainly entertaining, suspenseful, and a unique entry into home invasion horror movies. With solid performances from Liv Tyler, Scott Speedman, and a fun cameo from Glenn Howerton, The Strangers is a fun ride that will make you want to pause going on any remote cabin trips. In this edition of the NdB Sunday Show, hosted by Chris Steyn, Lauren Evanthia, the founder of the Organic Humanity Movement (OHM), analyses Patriotic Alliance (PA) leader Gayton McKenzie's unwavering support for President Cyril Ramaphosa in a GNU that “it is really held up by toothpicks at this moment…in a last ditch effort to try hold some semblance of normality so our economy doesn't completely crumbles”; former Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen's performance in Parliament; why his party is at “a little bit at a crisis point” and have “reached the maximum capacity of support”; continuing chaos at former President Jacob Zuma's MKP with MP Papa Penny off to Floyd Shivambu's new party; and the apparent support among blacks on social media for FF Plus Correctional Services Minister Pieter Groenewald. Questioning the accuracy of the latest crime statistics, Evanthia also comments on the armed invasion this weekend at the home of former International Relations Minister Naledi Pandor. “I think when things like this happen to people in power, are they going to wake up and actually do something? History says no...” Meanwhile, she warns that the murder of two tourists in the Kruger National Park - the first in its history - is bound to be a huge blow to much needed tourism.
A defendant's cancer diagnosis can now be revealed, along with details of a second police sting that helped link one of the intruders to the crime scene.Reporter Elizabteth Byrne explains how she campaigned the court to release more information about the two intruders, including previously suppressed stories of knuckle dusters, cable ties and a truckload of stolen cigarettes.Liz and James Vyver return to the pod to talk through the revelations. If you have any questions for Liz, James or Stocky you'd like answered in future episodes, please email thecaseof@abc.net.au.The Case Of is the follow-up to the hit podcast Mushroom Case Daily, and all episodes of that show will remain available in the back catalogue of The Case Of.

A family who has profited off of selling security systems becomes the target of a violent, masked group during a 12-hour period called "The Purge" where all crime is legal.Home Invasion month kicks into high gear this week as we discuss The Purge. Ethan Hawke and Lena Heady star in this crazy film that introduces a dystopian society that has implemented an annual 12-hour period where all crime is legal. The thought process is that all aggression is aired out during these dangerous 12 hours, and many believe it heals the country. Although the concept is interesting, there are a lot of plot holes within the idea and the smaller story surrounding the family is also lacking. However, the movie is fun and entertaining all the way through. Panic Room was a successful mid-range budget thriller from the early 2000s. Starring Jodie Foster and directed by David Fincher, it became a huge hit at the time of its release, but has since become somewhat forgotten. So join us as we delve back into this slice of history, which still looks pretty great by today's standards, especially considering the use of CGI effects to achieve specific shots. Also, as always, we've picked out the most loathsome characters from the film, so join us at the end of the episode in voting for which one was the most deserving to die. A loving husband and father stays behind while his family goes on vacation and he's visited by two young women at night, who are stranded in the rain. After showing them kindness and letting them in, the night turns deadly.Knock Knock is next for Home Invasion month and while we don't think this movie is very good, we fully acknowledge how fun it is. Keanu Reeves, Lorenza Izzo, and Ana de Armas star in this cat and mouse movie directed by Eli Roth. This film takes a loving family man's loyalty to his wife and kids to the brink as two young women drastically attempt to seduce and blackmail him. While this movie struggles with purpose and any sense of reality, it's a fun and wild movie to watch at least to see Reeves scream for most of the runtime. Three young burglars break into the home of a blind war vet in an attempt to steal money, but soon realize he's more than capable of defending himself.Don't Breathe is kicking off Home Invasion month and it's a movie that we saw in theaters upon release and are super happy to be revisiting it. After rewatching the movie, we still love how tense the movie becomes and how it makes you question who's worse as things start to really take a turn. It's shot so well as the focus is on these young burglars who attempt to tiptoe quietly around the house initially while he's home, believing his lack of sight will make him unable to detect them. When push comes to shove, he's not the guy you want to mess with. It's a thrill ride all the way through with hardcore twists that make the film all the more worthwhile. A 65-second gap on a recorded 911 line is all it took to change two lives forever. It began with a frantic plea from Heidi Firkus, reporting a home intruder, before the line erupted in gunfire. When the phone was picked up again, it was her husband, Nick Firkus, claiming they had both been shot. While Heidi didn't survive the encounter, Nick walked away with a wound and a description of a mystery assailant for the Minnesota police. Bryan's story starts in New York, where skateboards, weed, and the raw energy of rebellion shaped his early identity. But what looked like typical teenage experimentation quickly became something others labeled as “a problem.” In the height of the 90s and early 2000s, Bryan was sent away to behavior-modification boarding programs meant to “fix” kids like him. Instead of changing him, those experiences carved in a deeper belief: something is wrong with me.That belief followed him straight into addiction.Oxy was the first opiate that hooked Bryan, and what came after was years of chasing a feeling he could never quite catch again. Methadone, Suboxone, cross-country moves between New York and San Diego, and eventually crack cocaine all became part of the cycle. There were moments that looked like escape, traveling through national parks, falling in love, even a trip to Italy, but the obsession to use never loosened its grip. After a suicide attempt brought him to his lowest point, Bryan found himself back where it all began: using again. But on April 1, 2022, something shifted. At a long-term medical treatment facility, Bryan finally found the space, structure, and willingness that allowed recovery to take root. Today, he's an active participant in a twelve-step program and living proof that even the longest detours can still lead you home. This episode is about mislabeling, survival, and what happens when someone finally stops trying to fix themselves and starts learning how to live.DM me on InstagramMessage me on FacebookListen AD FREE & workout with me on Patreon Connect with me on TikTokEmail me chasingheroine@gmail.comSee you next week!

The “Kudzu Bug” Invasion: What You Need to Know in North Georgia By Fred Talley, Faith Pest Control If you've lived around Jasper, Ellijay, or anywhere in the North Georgia Mountains for more than a few years, you've probably noticed a “new” neighbor that's making itself right at home. I'm talking about the Kudzu Bug (Megacopta cribraria). Now, we're used to ladybugs and those pesky Brown Marmorated Stink Bugs, but these little guys are a different breed of nuisance. If you've seen small, olive-brown, square-shaped beetles clustering on your white siding or swarming your soybean crops, you've met the Kudzu Bug. Where Did They Come From? They aren’t from around here. They first showed up in Georgia back in 2009—right down the road in Hoschton—and they've spread like wildfire across the Southeast. They're named after their favorite snack: Kudzu. Since we've got plenty of “the vine that ate the South” up here in the mountains, the Kudzu Bug thinks North Georgia is a five-star buffet. Why Are They a Problem for You? While they love kudzu, they don't stop there. Here's why they're a headache for homeowners in Jasper and beyond: The Smell and the Stain: Just like a stink bug, if you squish a Kudzu Bug, it releases a foul-smelling defense chemical. Even worse? That liquid can actually cause a mild skin burn or “stain” your skin and your home's siding. The “Home Invasion”: As the weather starts to cool down in the fall, these bugs look for a warm place to spend the winter. They love light-colored surfaces (like white or beige siding) because they soak up the sun. Once they find a gap in your windows or trim, they'll crawl inside by the hundreds. Agricultural Impact: If you're a farmer or gardener, watch out. They love legumes—specifically soybeans and snap beans. They can do some real damage to a crop if left unchecked. How to Keep Them Out At Faith Pest Control, we believe an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Here is what I recommend for my North Georgia neighbors: Seal the Gaps: Take a look at your doors and windows. If you see light coming through, a Kudzu Bug can get through. Use a high-quality caulk to seal cracks and replace worn-out weatherstripping. Check Your Screens: Make sure your window screens are tight and don’t have any holes. Don't Squish ‘Em: If they get inside, don’t reach for the fly swatter. Use a vacuum with a hose attachment to suck them up, then empty the bag or canister into a bucket of soapy water. This avoids the smell and the staining. Professional Perimeter Treatment: The best way to stop an invasion is to stop them before they ever get inside. We apply a specialized exterior treatment that creates a barrier they can’t cross. We're Here to Help Living in the North Georgia Mountains is a blessing, but the bugs can be a chore. If you're tired of seeing these brown specks all over your beautiful home, give us a call at Faith Pest Control. We know the Jasper and North Georgia area like the back of our hand, and we know exactly how to handle a Kudzu Bug problem. Stay bug-free, neighbors! The post The “Kudzu Bug” Invasion: What You Need to Know in North Georgia first appeared on Faith Pest Control.

When an 84-year-old woman vanishes from her home in the middle of the night, leaving behind signs of blood and a struggle, every early decision investigators make is critical. Retired NYPD sergeant Joe Giacalone returns to Zone 7 to talk with Sheryl McCollum about the Nancy Guthrie investigation and the mistakes they believe set the case back from the start. Together, they walk through the investigative failures, why the ransom note narrative never rang true, and the steps investigators can still take to regain traction. Guest Bio Joe Giacalone is a retired NYPD sergeant and former commanding officer of the Bronx Cold Case Squad. He serves as an adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and is the author of, "The Criminal Investigative Function: A Guide for New Investigators and The Cold Case Handbook." Giacalone also hosts True Crime with the Sarge and is a frequent media commentator on criminal investigations. About the Host Sheryl “Mac” McCollum is an active crime scene investigator for a Metro Atlanta Police Department and the director of the Cold Case Investigative Research Institute, which partners with colleges and universities nationwide. With more than 4 decades of experience, she has worked on thousands of cold cases using her investigative system, The Last 24/361, which integrates evidence, media, and advanced forensic testing. Her work on high-profile case include, in part, The Boston Strangler, Natalie Holloway, and Tupac Shakur. The former coach of the Michigan Wolverines has reached a deal with prosecutors. The AP's Jennifer King reports.
On New Year's Eve 2021, Morgan Metzer woke up inside her Canton, Georgia home to a masked intruder standing in her doorway. The man assaulted her, zip tied her, and dragged her outside into the freezing cold before fleeing.Moments later, her ex husband Rodney Metzer arrived and called 911, presenting himself as the man who had come to help.Investigators quickly began questioning how he appeared at the scene at exactly the right moment. As detectives examined phone records, surveillance footage, and online activity, prosecutors say a disturbing plan emerged. Rodney had allegedly faked a terminal cancer diagnosis in an attempt to win Morgan back after their divorce. When that failed, investigators say he researched how to disguise his voice, restrain someone, and secretly accessed her home security system before the attack.Faced with mounting evidence, Rodney Metzer pleaded guilty to charges related to the home invasion and assault. He was sentenced to 70 years, including 25 years in prison followed by decades of probation. What began as a terrifying break in ultimately revealed a calculated attempt to manipulate and control the situation, with Rodney positioning himself as the hero of a crime he allegedly planned himself.

Caleb Flynn, 39, a former worship pastor and American Idol contestant from Tipp City, Ohio, has been charged with the murder of his wife, Ashley Flynn, 37, following a multi-agency investigation that includes the FBI and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.Ashley Flynn was found shot twice in the head in the master bedroom of the couple's home on Cunningham Court in the early hours of February 16th, 2026. Her husband called 911 reporting a home invasion. Police deployed K-9 units and a drone searching for a suspect. No suspect was found.According to the criminal complaint, prosecutors allege Flynn shot Ashley with a 9mm handgun and staged the scene to mislead officers — leaving the garage door open, the center console of his truck open, and creating what investigators described as deliberate misdirection. A key detail in the affidavit: the side door to the garage that an alleged intruder supposedly used was blocked by a large refrigerator that would have required physical movement to open.Flynn was arrested February 19th and charged with one count of murder, two counts of felonious assault with a deadly weapon, and two counts of tampering with evidence. He pleaded not guilty at his February 20th arraignment and was held on $2 million bond with no contact ordered with his minor children.Ashley Flynn was a seventh-grade volleyball coach, substitute teacher, and deeply active member of the Tipp City faith community. She was eight days from her 38th birthday. Her family released a public statement expressing confidence in the arrest. A GoFundMe for her daughters surpassed $96,000 in 48 hours. A planned public celebration of life was replaced by a private service after Flynn's arrest. The preliminary hearing is set for February 26th.
