He and his wife disappeared on the day he was convicted of second-degree murder. Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the mysterious disappearance of Adam Emery. His wife's remains were found months later, but Adam Emery is still considered a fugitive from justice. Evidence left behind suggested that the two jumped from a high bridge. Inspired by Danielle's recent trip to Rhode Island, she discusses Adam Emery. After faking his death in the 1990's, he is still a wanted man. He shocked all who knew him after killing a man who he thought damaged his car. Adam later discovered that it was a different person entirely who hit his car. The last known sighting of Adam was when he and his wife Elena stood together on the Newport Bridge. Their car was found abandoned with the engine still running. Elena's remains were discovered six months later in Narragansett Bay. It remains unknown whether Adam is still alive. The Grauman's Chinese Theater opened in 1927, it was initially built to host the premiere of Cecil B Demille film called " The King of Kings." It is located on the northeast corner of Hollywood Blvd and Orange Drive, and is one of the if not the most recognizable buildings in Hollywood today. Although it is known for the Hollywood walk of fame and can be easily recognized by its carved pagoda towers and two stone lions guarding the front entrance, this incredible sight also has its secrets. Stories have been told of hearing mysterious sounds and seeing a little girl ghost by the name of Annabelle walking around backstage. This theater has seen its share of triumphs and tragedies.
RHODE ISLAND, 1990: They were sitting in their car eating clam chowder when another vehicle smashed into their rear bumper and took off. Adam Emery pursued the apparent hit and run driver. The ensuing confrontation escalated to homicide -- Adam stabbed and killed 20-year old Jason Bass. Though Adam Emery was found guilty of murder and awaited sentencing, he and his wife Elena Emery had other plans. To this day, state police, the FBI, and even international law enforcement continue searching for Adam Emery. Meanwhile, the family of Jason Bass waits for an ending that brings the long-awaited closure they deserve. This episode was co-written by Dena Norman. Sources are available at darkdowneast.com.
On this week's episode of True Crime New England, Katie and Liz talk about the fateful evening of August 30th, 1990, where a road rage incident in Rhode Island left a young man dead, for no reason. 27-year-old Adam Emery was with his wife and another couple in his 1985 Ford Thunderbird when it was sideswiped. In a fit of hot rage, Emery chased the car he believed to have hit him, which was being driven by Jason Bass. After an intense altercation, Jason ends up dead with a stab wound, only for it to be discovered that he was not the person to hit Emery's car. Two year later Emery is sentenced for Jason's death, and that same night he goes missing, supposedly committing suicide with his wife. To this day, Adam Emery has never been seen again. The Newport Bridge stands a majestic 219 feet above the Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island. But on the evening of November 10, 1993, shortly before 7:00 PM, a bridge supervisor and a state trooper investigated an empty car that was blocking one of the westbound lanes. The engine was running and the headlights were on. On the back seat were several articles of clothing, neatly folded. Up front, there was cash, cut up credit cards, and a driver's license. This is the story of the murder of Jason Bass and the disappearance of Adam Emery.
