In this week's episode, Sandra answers the question: Why do witches ride brooms? It turns out that the history of the witch's broom started back in 1453 when Guillaume Edelin who was a priest from Saint-Germain-en- Laye near Paris confessed to riding a broom. There are those that believe that the witch's broom is also connected to pagan fertility rituals, and because women would use brooms to signal to others that they were away from their homes. They would either place them in the fireplace or outside their door. Regardless of how the idea started, it is no secret that today when you ask someone to think of an image of a witch, they almost always have a broom. Then, Danielle discusses Ruby Ridge. Once the blood started to appeal on her finger, Margorie woke with a start from her "dead-like" state and scared the grave robbers off. She then went home to her husband who upon answering the door fell down dead. He was then buried in the same plot meant for her, and she went on to remarry and have several more children. In this week's episode Sandra talks about the Ghost of Stow Lake. Located in The Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, CA, the ghost of Stow Lake is a local legend that has been around for over one hundred years. In one version of the tale a young girl in the Victorian era was in a row boat with her baby when the baby fell into the lake. She jumped in after the baby and unfortunately both drowned. In another version of the story a young girl was walking in the park with her baby, sat down and started talking with another woman. After some time the pram fell into the lake. Not realizing the baby was in the lake, the young girl ran around asking people if they saw her baby. She later found the baby in the lake and supposedly drowned. Today, people have had sightings of her since 1908. People say that a ghost in a white dress with fair hair will come up to you asking if you have seen her baby. If you say yes, she will haunt you, if you say no she will kill you. Then, Danielle discusses the charismatic, and forceful, Carrie Nation. She was also known as Carry A. Nation. She was a part of the temperance movement and was staunchly anti-alcohol. She believed drinking brought out all the wickedness in men. When Carrie didn't think preaching in the streets was making a big enough impact she decided to take a more physical approach. She would go to various saloons and smash all the bottles with a hatchet. The public was both scared and fascinated by this woman. In this week's episode, Sandra talks about Leprechauns. Not only are Leprechauns connected to St. Patricks Day, but it turns out that they are actually related to fairies. Later, Danielles covers the Keddie Cabin Murders. It took place on April 11, 1981, in Keddie, California. Four members of the Sharp family were killed in what was initially thought to be a random act of violence. 37 years later this case remains unsolved. The two main suspects have since died, but there are others who are considered to have taken part in this vicious crime who are still living. Because of the large amount of evidence found at the scene of the crime there is hope that the killers will be determined. Join us for another spooky episode! Coincidentally both of our stories involve Ireland. William Desmond Taylor was born William Cunningham Deane-Tanne in Carlow, Ireland. He ventured out to Hollywood in 1912 to become a silent film actor and director. His body was found on the living room floor of his bungalow on February 2, 1922. This murder is a regular whodunnit. Meet a list of suspects who all hold a motive for wanting to see William dead. This includes actresses with opium addictions, infatuated girlfriends, an overbearing momager, and a criminal property manager. Who would have been capable of committing a murder in cold blood? In this week's episode Sandra talks about the Ghost of Alice Riley from Savannah, Georgia. Alice Riley escaped the Irish Famine by coming over to Georgia as an indentured servant at the age of 15 in 1733. Supposedly her and her husband Richard White murdered their master William Wise after being tormented by him. Both Richard White and Alice Riley were found guilty and sentenced to death by hanging. Richard was hanged quickly after being caught, but Alice was pregnant and could not be killed until after the baby was born. In this week's episode, Sandra talks about scary Truck Driver and Road trip stories that can be found on the popular website, Reddit. These stories range from funny to weird to downright creepy. Later, Danielle continues the European serial killer theme with Countess Elizabeth Báthory. It is thought that she inspired Bram Stoker's Dracula. Local villagers spoke in hushed tones about the many servants who mysteriously disappeared after working at Elizabeth's castle. Stories later came out about the Countess bathing in the servants' blood. But, these accounts were later disputed when it came to light that Elizabeth's family waived King Matthias' hefty debt which he owed the Countess. Happy New Year! We are back-ack-ack. In this episode, Danielle covers the story of the oldest serial killer in modern history, Baba Anujka.
