Jim Jones, a White man born in a Racially Restricted Region of Indiana, took a thousand people from California to Guyana. On November 18th, 1978, Jones killed nearly all 1,000 of his mostly black followers and orchestrated the assassination of Con. Leo Ryan. For nearly 50 years, this event has been mostly understood as a bunch of brainwashed blacks following a White charlatan to their demise. Meiers' work suggests something more nefarious. Last week, we heard further analysis of the litany of books published in the immediate days and weeks following the Guyana holocaust. None of these books were authored by black people. Meiers stresses that most of these books fail to mention the connections between Jonestown and the CIA - or the CIA activities in South America at large during this same period. He still recommends reading and scrutinizing these books for details that reveal truth. White female journalist Mae Brussell took the same view on this topic. Gus was surprised to hear Meiers' theory that Mark Lane and Jonestown were used to distract from the 1978 House Select Committee on Assassinations, which was investigating the murders of President John F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Mark Lane had written books and publicly suggested that a government conspiracy was involved in these assassinations. He was slated to speak at the congressional inquiry when Jonestown intruded. It's alleged that Lane knew that Jones planned to murder everyone, yet did nothing to alert authorities or prevent the massacre. He profited financially from representing the Peoples Temple and shacked up with "former" member Terri Buford for years. And he was lambasted in the press as an untrustworthy crackpot and likely Jones lackey who aided in the genocide. Much like 19th century California, there's gold and the coveted mineral bauxite Guyana soil. And there's a contested bitter border between Venezuela and Guyana. The presence of powerful White people like JIm Jones, helped secure the area. Meiers also highlighted how Jones used animals in his charade. White employed the "Twinkie Defense," alleging that after binging on junk food the evening of November 26th, a sugar stupor the following day caused him to mindlessly slaughter two White elected officials using hollow point bullets. He reloaded between the murders - and waved to future mayor Dianne Feinstein. White gays rioted in San Francisco to display their outrage over the lenient sentence White received - when he could have landed the death penalty. Meiers suggests that Jones was motivated to kill Mayor Moscone because he knew about the Peoples Temple's crimes and might snitch to investigators of the Guyana carnage. The prosecuting attorney, Joseph Freitas, was roundly criticized for his efforts and subjected to daily reminders and suspicion that he deliberately botched the 1976 investigation of voter fraud involving the Peoples Temple (and Mayor Moscone). Listeners and Gus T. think Meiers failed to present sufficient evidence of Jones' involvement in the murders and/or his motivation to kill these 2 White Men. Surprisingly, they found no wrong doing, but, shockingly, all records of the voters for the 1975 mayoral elections have vanished. Along with rigging elections, many journalists and Bay Area citizens thought The Peoples Temple was connected to the 1978 assassinations of Mayor Mascone and Harvey Milk. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Mayor David Coltart live from Zimbabwe. Coltart is classified as a White man and has generations of family that have lived on the African continent. He wrote the book, The Struggle Continues: 50 Years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe, which is part autobiography, part Coltart's narrative of life and times in Zimbabwe. This White Man has live a fascinating life. He was in Boston for then-Senator Barack Obama's 2004 speech to the Democratic National Convention. He was conscripted to fight for the South African army - ostensibly, to help maintain the local System of White Supremacy. Before serving as Bulawayo mayor, he worked as an attorney of law - and is still practicing. One of his most famous clients is convicted killer Michael Swango, who's currently in a Colorado cage for the rest of his blond-haired life. After Swango absconded to Zimbabwe to avoid US authorities, he continued killing on the continent. When patients began dying and Swango was fired from his hospital post, Coltart accepted his case for wrongful termination. Vecchione. “Recently retired as chief of the Rackets Division of the Kings County District Attorney's Office,” Mr. Vecchione is a retired prosecuting attorney, non-fiction writer and Long Island City, New York resident. He co-authored Crooked Brooklyn: Taking Down Corrupt Judges, Dirty Politicians, Killers and Body Snatchers in Brooklyn. This details some of the more salacious cases of Vecchione's career - including Racist Suspect Michael Mastromarino. This White dentist was a Master Deceiver and mastermind of a body parts smuggling ring. In addition to helping to convict Mastromarino, Vecchione co-authored Behind the Murder Curtain: Special Agent Bruce Sackman Hunts Doctors and Nurses Who Kill Our Veterans. When asked why he would choose to practice medicine in rural Africa, Swango replied: "I love the blacks." Dr. Michael Swango, also known as Dr. Death, had his residency rescinded after his internship at Ohio State due to patients dying under his care while he was working in an ambulance, and due to his falsification of internship documents. His faculty and peers expressed their concerns, and yet, nobody alerted police or other medical institutions. After working as an EMT for an Illinois ambulance service, several of his colleagues fell ill after consuming food he brought in, or coffee he prepared. Dr. Death was arrested for arsenic poisoning and served five years, but he was still able to work as a resident in New York and Zimbabwe following these incidences. After his rotation at the VA in New York, Special Agent Bruce Sackman set his sights on Swango, leading to his capture. Haller doubled down and said that knowing Swango was convicted of poisoning White paramedics would not deter him from hiring Swango again. Listeners and Gus suspect Swango would have been found not guilty if he opted for a trial by jury as opposed to accepting the Judge's verdict. In the middle of all this, Ohio State University medical officials remained as codified and tight-lipped as Godfather thugs. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Robert Kaplan live from Wollongong, Australia. A forensic psychiatrist, writer and historian, Dr. Kaplan is Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Wollongong's Graduate School of Medicine. Gus stumbled upon his research while investigating Michael Swango, a White convicted serial killer who murdered White and non-white people from Illinois to Africa. Mr. Swango is no anomaly, White medical serial workers have avoided detection and managed to kill hundreds of unsuspecting patients. Dr. Kaplan writes about this growing phenomenon called “clinicide”/Carer Assisted Serial Killing. He submits that this is a growing field of crime, and with an aging population around the planet, there could be a growing number of people at risk. The racial component of this cannot be overstated as most if not all of the murdering doctors and nurses are classified as White and non-white people, especially if they're classified as black, are often prohibited from practicing medicine.
