In Part 1 of this discussion on abuse and trauma, we share a story with you that is far too common. You might not be someone who has faced addiction or has a story of abuse. However, we can guarantee that you know someone who has and they often do not look like they are trauma survivors. 1 and 3 girls are sexually abused and addiction follows most abuse survivors as they try to cope with the pain. Austie Eckley is a leader of women who loves passionately and fiercely because she knows what it’s like to need someone to see you despite your story. She knows what it’s like to need an example of Jesus’s love at the darkest hour. So we asked her to share her story with us and how she began her journey of Living Wholehearted, bringing all of who she was before our God. Austie Eckley, a mother of four little girls, talks about the earlier parts of her journey and how that plays a role in who she is today as a mother and shepherd of women. She lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and sweet little girls. She is an artist who creates jewelry, art, makeup, and finds the best thrift store deals. Let’s take a few weeks to talk about something that may help shape your year - facing what is hard about your story (or another person’s story) and begin calling things what they are. We want to take the next couple podcasts to unpack more of the what, why, and how we heal from trauma. Leave a review. That will help others find this podcast. Check out more at www.austieeckley.com

Today we're joined by our friend Austie. She let's us know about what God is teaching her during this time, what verses she's reading and how she's praying. We want to invite you to watch through this video and receive encouragement, be reminded of who you are, and who God is. Let's look at some scripture and dig into the Word of God and allow our minds to be freed from fear. Take a few minutes out of your day, turn off the news, and get into the Word. Let's bring scripture back. Bible verses from today: Psalm 27:13 I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Esther 4:14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” Matthew 6:11 Give us today our daily bread. 1 and 2 Kings. Matthew 9:1-8 Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town. 2 Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.” 3 At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, “This fellow is blaspheming!” 4 Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, “Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? 5 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 6 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, take your mat and go home.” 7 Then the man got up and went home. 8 When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to man. Mark 2:1-12 Mark 5:17-26 Application: -Read the Bible. (Allow God to speak) -Help other out around you. (Love your neighbors) -Pray continuously. No matter how your baby comes into this world, it’s an amazing opportunity to share your life, your joy, and your love. Today’s guest, Austie Eckley loves having babies and being a mother. Her birthing experiences are as varied as the children she brought into the world. She and her partner have experienced completing a birth plan with barely a glitch, learning they were pregnant with twins 20-weeks in, delivering those twins prematurely at only 28-weeks, and a sunny side up gender surprise. Looking back at it all, Austie says trusting her instincts and listening to her body lent confidence to her motherhood experience. The community outpouring of kindness and support she received during the twins’ extended stay in NICU gave her a new appreciation for helping other mothers during trying times. Her non-profit organization Twenty Eight and Six is a testament to her desire to provide support to other families with children in the NICU through comfort, connection & financial assistance. Austie shares her story with a gentleness and grace that reflects her mothering style - her perspective on the joy of motherhood despite the challenges and surprises will inspire you! In This Episode: ● The fear a mother feels during a premature birth ● How community support can make a difference to a new mom ● The importance of ‘kangaroo care’ for premature infants ● Sharing joy and love with any baby that comes into your life ● How a simple scarf can provide new mothers with privacy while pumping ● How trusting your natural instincts can enhance your motherhood experience ● Her experience with the scare of food apnea Show Notes: Birthing Stone — Baby Sleep Program Twenty Eight and Six Twenty Eight and Six on Facebook @TwentyEightandSix on Instagram
