Are Mackenzie Shirilla's Parents Building A Case Against Their Own Daughter?

Steve Shirilla lost his teaching job after defending his convicted daughter on Netflix. Natalie Shirilla was recorded on a prison call telling Mackenzie that Dominic Russo's family are "evil people." Prosecutors decoded calls where mother and daughter spoke in a private made-up language to evade monitoring — and in one decoded exchange, Mackenzie allegedly asked if they could tell police she had a seizure before the crash. Those calls were introduced as evidence at trial.Eric Faddis examines whether this family is helping Mackenzie or building the record against her. Steve went on a podcast and challenged anyone to produce evidence his daughter acted deliberately — while a judge's written findings sit in the public record. On camera for Netflix, he acknowledged being comfortable with his daughter's substance use while teaching at a Catholic elementary school. The Diocese of Cleveland confirmed his contract at Mary Queen of Peace was not renewed. Natalie's "evil people" characterization of the family whose son was killed in the crash — made on a monitored call — is exactly the kind of statement a parole board reviews.Mackenzie's institutional record tells its own story. Thirty-six conduct violations in under three years at the Ohio Reformatory for Women. Guilty on thirty-two. Unauthorized medication. Altered prison clothing. Contraband. Refusing work assignments. More than a hundred video visits with a former inmate who wasn't approved, conducted under someone else's name. She refuses rehabilitation programs. She refers to herself as the third person harmed in what she still calls a car accident. She told her mother on a monitored call she wants to become a life coach when she gets out.Her parole eligibility is September 2037. Faddis breaks down what the parole board actually weighs when they sit across from someone with this institutional record — whether violations push eligibility back, what program refusal signals about readiness for release, whether the recorded statements on monitored calls are quietly becoming the prosecution's exhibit file for a future parole hearing, and what legal exposure Natalie could face for the decoded calls that were used as evidence at trial.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Mackenzie Shirilla Drove That Same Dead-End Road Days Before She Killed Two People

The crash that killed Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan wasn't the first time Mackenzie Shirilla drove to that dead-end road in Strongsville, Ohio. She'd been there days before the fatal night. The data recorder from her car captured the final run — accelerator at full capacity, zero braking, a straight line into a commercial building at close to a hundred miles per hour. Russo and Flanagan were dead at the scene. Shirilla survived. She never talked to police. She never testified. Investigators built the case from the car's data, the prior threats — Shirilla told Russo weeks before she would "crash this car right now" — and monitored jail calls where she and her mother Natalie communicated in a private coded language that investigators cracked. According to prosecutors, the decoded calls revealed Shirilla asking whether they could tell police she'd had a seizure. That claim became the defense theory — a blood pressure condition called POTS allegedly caused a blackout. The judge didn't buy it. He called her actions "controlled, methodical, deliberate, intentional and purposeful."The post-conviction picture hasn't shifted. Thirty-six conduct violations in under three years at the Ohio Reformatory for Women — guilty on thirty-two. Unauthorized medication. Altered clothing. Contraband. Refusing work assignments. More than a hundred video visits with an unapproved former inmate conducted under someone else's name. On recorded calls, Shirilla calls herself the third person harmed by what she still describes as an accident. She told a friend she plans to become a life coach. Her family has reinforced every instinct. Natalie told Mackenzie on a monitored call that prison programs are for "people convicted of crimes like actual criminals." She called the Russo family "evil." Steve Shirilla went on a podcast to challenge anyone to produce evidence of intent — while the judge's written findings sit in the public record. He acknowledged comfort with his daughter's substance use on camera for Netflix while employed at a Catholic elementary school. The Diocese of Cleveland didn't renew his contract.Coffindaffer and Dreeke examine the behavioral pattern from the threats through the rehearsal drive through the crash itself — and why the prison record is the same pattern continuing under a different roof.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Christine Russo lost her brother Dominic when Mackenzie Shirilla drove a hundred miles an hour into a brick wall in Strongsville, Ohio. Davion Flanagan, nineteen, died alongside him. In a published interview, Christine said it plainly about Mackenzie's parents: “They created a monster — they're monsters themselves.”Recorded prison calls between Mackenzie and her family show how the Shirilla household operates — before the crash and after. Mackenzie tells her mother Natalie she doesn't need rehabilitation. Natalie agrees, saying it's for “actual criminals.” On another call, Natalie calls the Russo family “evil.” Steve Shirilla appeared in the Netflix documentary The Crash, said on camera he was fine with his daughter using marijuana, lost his teaching position at a Catholic school over the comments, and responded by saying the institution “showed their true colors.” For every member of this family, consequences are never about the behavior. They're always about the people who noticed.Inside the Ohio Reformatory for Women, Mackenzie has racked up thirty-six conduct violations — guilty in thirty-two. Contraband. Direct-order refusals. Altered clothing. Visitation issues. A fellow inmate compared her to Regina George from Mean Girls: daily makeup, social positioning, treating the facility like it was still high school. She begs her mother for an iPad. She complains about boredom. She won't eat the food. Her emotional register hasn't shifted since the day she arrived. This episode takes apart the machine that built Mackenzie Shirilla. The parental enabling that never let a consequence stick. The social media mythology that let a teenager build an identity from nothing. And the distance — shorter than any parent wants to admit — between protecting your child and building someone who can't survive contact with the real world.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/ Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Thirty-six conduct violations. Guilty on thirty-two. Recorded calls where she refuses rehabilitation, calls herself the third victim, and tells her mother she plans to become a life coach. Mackenzie Shirilla's institutional file at the Ohio Reformatory for Women is growing — and defense attorney Eric Faddis says the parole board will read every page of it.Shirilla was convicted in 2023 of killing Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan after deliberately driving her car into a brick building in Strongsville, Ohio, at roughly a hundred miles an hour. She's serving two concurrent sentences of fifteen years to life, with parole eligibility in September 2037.Her conduct record since entering the facility has been relentless. Unauthorized medication that wasn't prescribed to her. Altered clothing. Contraband. Refusing work assignments. And the one that stands apart from the rest — more than a hundred video visits with a released former inmate using another person's identity. She pleaded guilty and took a thirty-day electronics restriction. On recorded calls she knows are monitored, Shirilla describes herself as the third victim of what she still calls an accident. She's expressed zero interest in the rehabilitation programs available to her. She's told her mother she plans to be a life coach when she gets out.Faddis, a criminal defense attorney and former felony prosecutor, breaks down what this institutional record actually means when the parole board convenes. He explains how violations are weighed, whether refusal to acknowledge the crime carries specific consequences, and whether an inmate's own recorded words can be used against them at a hearing. He also answers the question nobody around Shirilla appears to be asking: what would a defense attorney tell her to do differently starting now?Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? ASK A QUESTION - TELL A STORY - CONNECT WITH US This week, Evan, Josh, Michael, and Paxton kick things off with plenty of laughs from VBS week, including church staff confessions about thermostat battles, driving preferences, dishwashing rules, and Josh's surprisingly controversial cake-cutting method. The conversation turns into a fun exploration of the little things people try to control and how those tendencies often reveal something deeper about the way we approach relationships and trust. The group then unpacks Paxton's message, Given in Love, from the Altered series. They discuss why healthy love requires open hands, how fear often fuels control, and what it looks like to bless people rather than try to manage them. Along the way, they reflect on parenting, ministry relationships, difficult life transitions, and the challenge of trusting God with the people we care about most.

Almost anyone listening today is likely to have an opinion about the topic — namely, how well are bicycles, powered scooters, e-bikes, vehicles and pedestrians co-existing in Davis? In terms of safety, courtesy, observing the rules … and what are the current laws for powered scooters and bikes? Probably not what you think, and the Legislature is looking at changing them. Two people have been hit and killed while riding bicycles in or near Davis so far in 2026. We likely all have stories of seeing drivers who only slow for a stop sign, powered motorbikes in the bike lane as they zip past cars, or people walking into the street while focused on their screens. Hopefully, we've seen people make room for each other on the streets, too. Today we talk about city statistics, the emergence of e-bikes and e-scooters, the laws so far, what the city is doing, and what individuals can do, with Davis Police Chief Todd Henry, and Ryan Chapman, the city's director of public works engineering and transportation.

In 2015, I suffered from poor Type 1 diabetes control which lead me to become legally blind for almost a year. The doctors didn't give me much hope, predicting an 80% chance that I would never see again. But I refused to give up and changed my lifestyle drastically. Through sheer willpower (and an amazing eye surgeon) I beat the odds and regained my vision. During that difficult time, I couldn't read or write, which was devastating as they had always been a source of comfort for me since childhood. However, my wife took me to the local library where she read out the titles of audiobooks to me. I selected some of my favorite books, such as the Disc World series, Name of the Wind, Harry Potter, and more, and the audiobooks brought these stories to life in a way I had never experienced before. They helped me through the darkest period of my life and I fell in love with audiobooks. Once I regained my vision, I decided to pursue a career as an audiobook narrator instead of a writer. That's why I created Tall Tale TV, to support aspiring authors in the writing communities that I had grown to love before my ordeal. My goal was to help them promote their work by providing a promotional audio short story that showcases their writing skills to readers. They say the strongest form of advertising is word of mouth, so I offer a platform for readers to share these videos and help spread the word about these talented writers. Please consider sharing these stories with your friends and family to support these amazing authors. From Field Goals to Game Changers: How Morris Stroud Altered NFL Rules

The Stroud Rule: How the NFL's Tallest Player Forced a Rule ChangeIntro Hook: Imagine a defender so tall he didn't need to rush the kicker—he simply stood under the crossbar and swatted field goals away like a basketball center. In the late 1960s, Morris Stroud turned the NFL into a game of "grass-court" goaltending, forcing the league to rewrite its laws to stop one of the most creative "cheats" in sports history. The Man Who Made Field Goals Obsolete: Morris StroudIn the late 1960s, the NFL was an arms race. Coaches were looking for any edge—any loophole—to snatch a victory. But while most teams were looking at the playbook, the Kansas City Chiefs were looking at the rafters.Meet Morris Stroud. At 6'10", he remains one of the tallest players to ever lace up a pair of cleats. Nominally a tight end, Stroud was a physical anomaly in an era of smaller, scrappier players. But Head Coach Hank Stram didn't just want Stroud to catch passes. He had a vision that felt more like a heist than a strategy. The logic was deviously simple: why let the ball go through the uprights when you have a man tall enough to reach them?During field goal attempts, Stroud wouldn't rush the kicker. He wouldn't try to penetrate the line. Instead, he would retreat. He'd stand directly under the crossbar, wait for the ball to reach its apex, and simply... jump. The Tactic: Stroud would swat away kicks that were clearly on a scoring trajectory. The Result: It turned the "automatic" three points into a game of basketball played on grass."It was the ultimate defensive cheat code. You didn't need to block the kick at the line; you just needed a giant to play goalie at the rim."The NFL offices in New York weren't amused. This wasn't "football"—it was an existential threat to the scoring system. If every team found a seven-footer to camp out under the posts, the field goal would become extinct. In 1970, the league lowered the boom. The "Stroud Rule"The NFL officially amended the rulebook to preserve the integrity of the kicking game. The new regulation stated:The Rule: The Penalty. It is illegal to touch or deflect a ball that is above the crossbar and between the uprights.Goal-tending: The field goal is ruled successful, and 3 points are awarded.Don't forget to check out and subscribe to the Pigskin Dispatch YouTube channel for additional content and the regular Football History Minute Shorts.Miss our football by the day of the year podcasts, well, don't, because they can still be found at the Pigskin Dispatch website. This segment pushes the conversation into some of the toughest questions in the hobby—where definitions break down and gray areas take over. With David Chase, Joe Poirot, Chris McGill, and Josh Adams still on the panel, the discussion circles back to eye appeal… but this time through the lens of alteration, intent, and ethics. It starts with a deceptively simple question: Should altered cards ever receive eye appeal stickers? From there, things get complicated quickly: If a card looks amazing but is altered, what are you actually rewarding? Does eye appeal exist independently from originality? Would stickers unintentionally encourage further alteration? Then comes one of the wildest scenarios: A collector intentionally damaging an 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card to create a PSA 1… because PSA 1s can be rarer and more valuable than mid-grade copies That opens up a deeper conversation: Is intentional damage a form of alteration? Does intent matter more than outcome? Where do we draw the line between natural wear and manufactured condition? The segment also digs into the core purpose of grading: Is grading really about condition… or about trust? Is authentication the most important function? How consistent are grading outcomes, really? And one of the strongest ideas to come out of the discussion:A lot of what we call “alteration” isn't just about the act—it's about whether or not it's disclosed. Would the market behave differently if full transparency existed? Is concealment the real issue, not the alteration itself? This is where the hobby gets uncomfortable—but also where it gets real. A fitting end to a marathon episode that challenged assumptions at every turn. Enjoy the show? Follow or subscribe on your podcast platform so you don't miss upcoming episodes. This week, Aebhric is again joined by Zach Andrews, who leads the latest episode of CoROM Conversations, which explores the recognition and management of severe malaria in resource-limited and austere environments. Drawing on field-relevant clinical reasoning, the discussion focuses on the progression from uncomplicated to life-threatening disease, with emphasis on Plasmodium falciparum as the primary driver of severe pathology. The conversation highlights the diagnostic challenges faced by remote medics, where laboratory confirmation may be delayed or unavailable, and underscores the importance of clinical pattern recognition, early intervention, and ongoing reassessment. Particular attention is given to complications such as cerebral malaria, severe anaemia, metabolic acidosis, and hypoglycaemia—all of which significantly increase mortality if not rapidly addressed. From a prolonged field care perspective, the episode integrates pragmatic strategies for stabilisation, monitoring, and evacuation decision-making. It reinforces the need for structured patient assessment using frameworks such as CABCDEFGH, along with trending vital signs over time. The discussion ultimately bridges tropical medicine with austere critical care, offering actionable insights for medics operating far from definitive care.Key Learning PointsSevere malaria is a time-critical diagnosis, most commonly associated with Plasmodium falciparum, requiring immediate treatment even before confirmatory testing.Red flag features include altered mental status, respiratory distress, severe anaemia, hypoglycaemia, and shock.Hypoglycaemia is both a complication of malaria and a side effect of treatment (e.g., quinine), necessitating frequent glucose monitoring. In austere environments, clinical diagnosis often precedes laboratory confirmation, requiring high suspicion in febrile patients with travel or endemic exposure.Fluid management must be cautious, balancing the risks of hypovolaemia and pulmonary oedema.Prolonged care requires integration of nursing principles (HITMAN, SHEEP VOMIT) to prevent secondary deterioration.Early administration of parenteral antimalarials (e.g., artesunate where available) is critical to survival.Evacuation planning should be initiated early, but delays must not postpone life-saving interventions.Timestamps00:00 – IntroductionOverview of the case and relevance to austere medicine02:30 – Pathophysiology of Severe MalariaMechanisms of microvascular obstruction and organ dysfunction06:00 – Clinical PresentationRecognising early vs severe disease in the field10:30 – Assessment FrameworksApplying structured approaches (CABCDEFGH, CPRO, BEAST)15:00 – Management PrioritiesAntimalarials, glucose, fluids, and airway considerations20:30 – Complications and MonitoringCerebral malaria, acidosis, anaemia, and respiratory failure25:00 – Prolonged Field Care ConsiderationsNursing care, documentation, and trending30:00 – Evacuation and Decision-MakingWhen and how to move the patient33:00 – Key Takeaways and Closing ThoughtsClinical Pearls / Take-Home MessagesTreat first, confirm later: In suspected severe malaria, delays in treatment increase mortality.Check glucose early and often: Hypoglycaemia can be rapidly fatal and easily missed.Think beyond fever: Altered mental status or respiratory changes may be the first sign of severe disease.Your greatest tool is reassessment: Trends in vital signs are more valuable than single data points.Good nursing care saves lives: Positioning, hydration, hygiene, and monitoring are critical in prolonged care environments.Suggested ReferencesWorld Health Organization. Is the final frontier the ultimate high-trust marketing channel? In this content, I break down how a single floating jar of Nutella during the Artemis II NASA livestream might have just rewritten the CPG marketing playbook. Traditional advertising is dying behind adblockers, but space remains one of our last "monocultural moments." When a CPG product appears in a lunar habitat, it carries an implicit "seal of authenticity" that no Super Bowl spot can buy. From Nutella's reactive marketing readiness to Astreas performance nutrition in orbit "R&D as Marketing" strategy, I'm exploring how the CPG industry is moving from Earth-based goods to space-engineered excellence. In my latest video, I dive deep into topics like:Nutella "Moon Drift" = How an accidental moment turned into a global commercial. Is "Space-Spec" the New Organic? = Why being "good enough for orbit" is becoming the ultimate validator for durability and nutrition. Future of the Orbital Pantry: Moving from "accidental ads" to a future of Direct-to-Orbit supply chains. Will your next snack be delivered to a lunar habitat?Avoiding "Space-Washing": The "billionaire's playground" narrative is a risk, but the winners won't be the CPG brands that put logos on the moon. Instead, it'll be the ones that use space-based R&D to make life better on Earth. Also, do you think the Apollo moon landings were real, or just the world's most powerful propaganda?

Metatron says the overall timeline is unchanged but election-related events were dishonestly altered by tech‑savvy actors who tricked the “deep state,” forcing plans to take a harder route; the woman is said to have truly won, while the apparent winner is described as ego-driven, easily provoked, and a first‑lifetime soul. The discussion covers potential war without nuclear weapons, delayed-but-inevitable open contact, and claims that the U.S. is highly “matrix” controlled via advanced surveillance technology. Metatron asserts the Galactic Federation is adjusting plans, “real psychics” are rare, some public figures and athletes may be clones, the sky/matrix can be seen through glass, weather can be manipulated by machines, trafficking will slow, and people should stay aware and vigilant. 00:00 Post Election Recording 01:27 Metatron Introduced 02:10 Timeline Versus Events 06:22 Who Really Manipulated 09:40 Leaders Ego And Chaos 12:01 Dishonest Win And Fallout 13:17 War Risks Without Nukes 16:35 Matrix Control And Surveillance 21:33 Power Within Not Politics 25:36 Light Based Ethics For All 30:05 Free Will And Fake Psychics 33:34 Starseed DNA Explained 39:17 Who Overrode The Election 41:20 Tech Mogul Profile Shift 47:28 Deep State Meets Pleadians 49:02 Strife Before Change 50:28 Hidden Evils Exposed 52:16 Trafficking Slows Down 56:08 Politics as Theater 57:26 Sports Fixes and Clones 01:00:12 How Clones Work 01:06:10 Seeing the Matrix 01:10:59 Weather Control Machines 01:12:43 Earth Consciousness and Reset 01:14:42 Secret Space Arks 01:17:57 Stay Vigilant Closing

What do your spiritual beliefs actually have to do with your relationships? Faith doesn't influence your relationships. It changes them. Faith isn't just personal. It's not just something you believe or experience internally. When you truly encounter Jesus, it begins to reshape everything—including how you relate to God, how you see yourself, and how you treat others. Real spiritual growth doesn't stay contained. It shows up in your relationships. What if the frustration, tension, or disconnection you feel isn't random? What if it's an invitation to something deeper? Scripture shows us that as God works in us, He begins to work through us. We become people who don't just react, but who reflect Him. People who bring grace, truth, and love into every relationship. Our prayer is that this wouldn't just be something you hear, but something that begins to reshape how you live this week. Next Steps: Identify one relationship that needs to be different Ask: What would it look like for God to change how I show up here? Take one intentional step toward that person this week

Altered states of consciousness – including experiences of deprivation, pain, hallucination, fear, desire, alienation, and spiritual transcendence – can transform the ordinary experience of selfhood. Unselfing: Global French Literature at the Limits of Consciousness (U Toronto Press, 2022) explores the nature of disruptive self-experiences and the different shapes they have taken in literary writing. The book focuses on the tension between rival conceptions of unselfing as either a form of productive self-transcendence or a form of alienating self-loss. Michaela Hulstyn explores the shapes and meanings of unselfing through the framework of the global French literary world, encompassing texts by modernist figures in France and Belgium alongside writers from Algeria, Rwanda, and Morocco. Together these diverse texts prompt a re-evaluation of the consequences of the loss or the transcendence of the self. Through a series of close readings, Hulstyn offers a new account of the ethical questions raised by altered states and shows how philosophies of empathy can be tested against and often challenged by literary works. Drawing on cognitive science and phenomenology, Unselfing provides a new methodology for approaching texts that give shape to the fringes of conscious experience. Guest Dr. Michaela Hulstyn is Associate Director of the Structured Liberal Education Program at Stanford University. Her research interests include philosophy and Literature; 20c and 21c French and Francophone African thought, cognitive approaches to aesthetics; global phenomenology; intermediality; decolonization; narrative. Dare To Dream with Debbi Dachinger Dr. Heather Lynn: Anunnaki Were Consciousness Architects, Not Aliens Dr. Heather Lynn joins Debbi Dachinger to reveal a provocative reframe of the Anunnaki—not as physical extraterrestrials, but as consciousness-shaping intelligences that influenced early humanity through altered states, symbolism, and esoteric systems. She explores how Sumer may represent not the beginning of civilisation, but a reset after a forgotten global catastrophe. This conversation dives into hidden history, including the role of oral traditions behind Sumerian texts, the connection to Atlantis narratives, and how ancient elites may have used plant medicine, sacred knowledge, and early systems of control to reshape human society. From secret societies to modern AI and transhumanism, Dr. Lynn connects ancient wisdom to today's accelerating evolution of consciousness and technology—raising questions about who we were, and who we are becoming. About the Speaker Dr. Heather Lynn is a historian, researcher, and author specialising in ancient civilisations, esoteric traditions, and alternative interpretations of human history. With a background in cognitive archaeology and religious studies, her work explores how consciousness, myth, and symbolism have shaped human development across time. If ever there were a topic that doesn't get nearly enough attention it's this: what happens to your relationship with food after treatment. Yes, there's plenty of conversation about what to eat and what to avoid after breast cancer. But crucially, there's much less about the guilt, fear and second-guessing about food that can slip in and take over your daily life. There's guilt about what you ate before diagnosis. Fear about what you eat now. In this episode, I unpack why this happens, how fear of recurrence is often behind that thinking, and why the restrictive eating you're engaging in won't deliver the peace of mind you crave. After today's episode you'll understand:Why an altered relationship with food after treatment is common, and completely understandableHow restriction doesn't equal controlWhy the right kind of support mattersClick here to get on the Peaceful Plate wait list!  Click here for my FREE guide The Five Foods Survivors Should Eat!Follow me on Instagram @hormone.breastcancer.dietitian

Welcome to OncLive On Air®! I'm your host today, Ashling Wahner.OncLive On Air is a podcast from OncLive®, which provides oncology professionals with the resources and information they need to provide the best patient care. In both digital and print formats, OncLive covers every angle of oncology practice, from new technology to treatment advances to important regulatory decisions. In today's episode, Marina Baretti, MD, discussed the real-world utilization of tissue-free circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) monitoring in cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). Baretti is an assistant professor and the Jiasheng Chair in Hepato-Biliary Cancer Research at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, as well as co-director of the Liver and Biliary Cancer Multidisciplinary Clinic at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center in Baltimore, Maryland. In the exclusive interview, Dr Baretti discussed multiple potential roles for ctDNA testing in CCA management, including the detection of minimal residual disease following curative-intent surgery, longitudinal monitoring of treatment response in advanced disease, and identification of emergent resistance mechanisms with targeted therapy.Baretti also reviewed findings from a small real-world observational analysis of 44 patients, in which a tissue-free ctDNA assay demonstrated high sensitivity, detecting variant allele frequencies as low as 0.2% and identifying actionable alterations in most patients; ctDNA dynamics also correlated with response and enabled early detection of resistance alterations, including secondary FGFR2 mutations, prior to radiographic progression in select cases.Lastly, Baretti contextualized these findings within the broader treatment landscape by reviewing data from the phase 2 FIGHT-202 trial (NCT02924376), which supported the FDA approval of pemigatinib (Pemazyre) in patients with previously treated CCA harboring FGFR2 fusions or rearrangements. Real-world data have confirmed the efficacy and safety of this agent observed in clinical trials, reinforcing the importance of comprehensive molecular profiling._____That's all we have for today! For more information reach out to Hailey at moonbeamingpodcast@gmail.com  --- What happens when intuition leads you all the way to the edge of science? In this episode, Sarah closes out the Intuition Series with a powerful conversation that lives at the intersection of neuroscience and the unexplainable. She sits down with cognitive neuroscientist and author Mona Sobhani, PhD, to explore what unfolds when a traditionally trained skeptic begins to question the very foundations of a materialist worldview. After a series of personal experiences she couldn't easily dismiss — coffee ground readings that came true, psychic encounters, and precognitive dreams — Mona did what scientists are trained to do: she investigated. What began as curiosity turned into years of research into psychic phenomena, reincarnation studies, quantum physics, altered states of consciousness, and competing models of reality. Together, Sarah and Mona explore the possibility that science and spirituality were never meant to be separate — and that the “unexplainable” may simply be what we haven't yet learned how to measure. In this episode, you'll hear: Mona's journey from skeptical neuroscientist to open-minded investigator of spiritual phenomena The existential turning points that cracked open deeper questions about fate, free will, and meaning Scientific research on psychic phenomena Quantum physics, non-locality, and the observer effect How time, space, and determinism may not work the way we think Altered states, meditation, sound, light, and brainwave entrainment Precognitive dreams and intuitive information arising in non-ordinary states Competing models of reality: materialism, panpsychism, idealism, dualism The “trickster” element of consciousness and the limits of measurement What it would take for science and spirituality to truly collaborate Meet Mona Mona Sobhani, Ph.D., is a cognitive neuroscientist, author, and entrepreneur. A former research scientist at the University of Southern California, she holds a doctorate in neuroscience from the University of Southern California and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Vanderbilt University with the MacArthur Foundation Law and Neuroscience Project. She is the author of the Ommie 2022 Best Spiritual Book Proof of Spiritual Phenomena: A Neuroscientist's Discovery of the Ineffable Mysteries of the Universe (Park City Press). In the Cosmos, Coffee, & Science Substack, she writes about science & spirituality, the psychedelic renaissance, altered states of consciousness, and the transpersonal. If you've ever felt torn between skepticism and spirituality, between logic and intuition, you're not alone. Many of us were taught that to be intelligent means to dismiss the mystical. So when something unexplainable happens, it can feel disorienting — even destabilizing. In this episode of Moon Beaming, I sit down with cognitive neuroscientist and author Mona Sobhani, PhD, to explore what unfolds when a rigorously trained skeptic begins questioning the very assumptions she was taught to defend. After personal experiences she couldn't ignore — psychic readings that proved accurate, existential crisis, and precognitive dreams — Mona followed her curiosity into research on consciousness, quantum physics, and spiritual phenomena. This conversation offers clarity not by choosing sides, but by widening the lens. If you're drawn to conversations at the edge of science and mysticism, make sure you're subscribed to the Moonbeaming newsletter for deeper reflections, tools, and upcoming events.
