Heather speaks into the aftermath of last week’s tragic events to address how these unsettling times can actually serve as a wake-up call for Christian women struggling with body image and comparison. Instead of focusing on the headlines, Heather invites listeners to examine what we’re really battling daily. She explores the big idea that our struggle isn’t with the scale, the mirror, or even other women—it’s a spiritual battle, not “against flesh and blood,” as Ephesians 6:12 says. Heather shares a relatable story about getting a speeding ticket (and her less-than-humble reaction!) as an illustration of the subtle ways pride and self-focus sneak in, keeping us distracted from what God is calling us to. Here are some references & main themes: The assassination of Charlie Kirk: Not the main focus of the episode, but this tragic event is used as context for discussing spiritual wake-up calls and living boldly for Jesus. Us vs. them mentality: How cultural polarization and volatility can lead to numbness or withdrawal, even from our spiritual callings. Spiritual battle vs. physical struggle: Using Ephesians 6:12, Heather emphasizes we need to recognize the spiritual nature of our struggles—especially with body image, insecurity, and comparison. Armor of God (Ephesians 6): Are you more worried about what you wear or making sure you have the armor of God on? The lie of “my truth” vs. God’s truth: Heather draws from the cultural trend of embracing “my truth” and contrasts it with God’s truth, especially in how we view ourselves and our worth. Pride and self-righteousness: Illustrated through her personal speeding ticket story, reminding us how quickly we default to excusing ourselves and judging others. Encouragement for action: Rather than “doing more” or “trying harder,” Heather invites listeners to actually follow Jesus, not just fit Him into their goals and plans. Overcoming shame and guilt: She warns listeners not to get caught in the enemy’s trap of shame for not being "further along" in their spiritual walk, and instead to run toward Jesus, the light, and real security. Programs and Resources Mentioned: 40-Day Journey: Starts October 1st, with groups beginning October 7th. Details at improvebodyimage.com or directly at: https://www.improvebodyimage.com/40-day-challenge Body Image Freedom Framework: Heather’s online course for deeper freedom in the areas discussed in the episode. Coaching and community offerings: Here are links to programs designed to equip women for the real battle. Questions to Reflect On: Which “battle” am I spending most of my time and energy on each day? How does believing my own truth about my body or worth keep me from living in God’s truth? Am I taking Jesus along for my ride, or am I letting Him lead? Final encouragement: Heather calls listeners to reject shame, fight the real battle, and let their light shine for Christ. She challenges us to think about how we will be remembered—not as women obsessed with their image, but as those unafraid to shine the light of Jesus. For more: Listen to this episode for Heather’s personal stories, practical encouragement, and a heartfelt call to step out of comparison and into true freedom. In this episode of Arise + Abide, Sally and Curtis reflect on Psalm 131, a short but powerful psalm about humility, trust, and finding true peace in God. David reminds us not to trouble ourselves with matters beyond our understanding but instead to rest in the Lord with childlike faith. The conversation explores how humility allows us to release pride, entrust the unknown to God, and experience the calm of His presence. Like a weaned child who no longer cries for comfort, we can mature in our faith by finding contentment and security in the Lord rather than in circumstances or other people. Drawing connections to Hebrews 6 and Proverbs 11, this discussion highlights the anchor of hope God provides and the wisdom that comes through humility.

In this episode of Arise + Abide, Curtis and Sally reflect on Hosea chapter 3, where Hosea is called to redeem his unfaithful wife as a living picture of God's unfailing love for His people. Together, they explore how this passage reveals the depth of God's commitment to Israel despite betrayal and idolatry, and how it points forward to His covenant of love fulfilled in Christ. The conversation highlights how true love is rooted in relationship and care rather than physical desire, and how God's unconditional love calls us to extend grace to others who may not meet our expectations. Curtis and Sally also challenge listeners to consider where they may be seeking peace, security, or identity outside of God, and remind us that our calling as followers of Christ is to shine His light and embody His love to all people. The episode closes with a look at God's promise that, in the last days, people will tremble in awe of His goodness, recognizing Him alone as the true source of life and hope.

Welcome to a heartfelt and transformative episode of Compared to Who?! Today, Heather Creekmore gets real, sharing a sincere apology and a powerful re-focus for the community. If you’ve been on a journey of body image struggles or striving for personal freedom, this episode will meet you right where you are. Episode Summary:Heather shares how she’s been convicted about how she’s focused on the roots of body image issues over the past few seasons, particularly focusing too much on intellectual understanding and analysis. Using the wisdom of Proverbs 3:5-6 — “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…” — Heather shares how she’s issuing a fresh call to the freedom that doesn’t come from unraveling the origins of our issues, but from surrendering to Christ, being discipled, and letting Jesus heal and transform every part of us. Key Insights from This Episode: The Power of Surrender: Understanding why we struggle with body image isn’t the path to freedom; surrendering to Christ is. Shift from Self-Help to Discipleship: Heather unpacks the biblical idea of discipleship — growing to be more like Jesus — as the most effective way to address body image battles and find lasting satisfaction. Freedom Beyond Understanding: Instead of searching for intellectual solutions or falling into endless self-analysis, this episode encourages letting God into the healing process and allowing your heart (not just your head) to be transformed. Counter to Cultural Messages: Heather warns against both secular and “Christian” body positivity messages that focus on self-pride and fixing your exterior, reminding us that Scripture leads us to humility and dependence on Christ. Living with Satisfaction: Drawing from Matthew 5:6 and Philippians 3-4, she explores the true path to satisfaction in life and body image, which is found only in hungering and thirsting for righteousness through a relationship with Jesus. Have you felt God calling you to step outside of what you know how to do into an unknown arena? Over 12 years ago I felt led to begin writing. Me, the girl whose college English teacher said that if I didn't start writing shorter essays, I would flunk her class. I had no idea why God wanted me to write, and sometimes the question still begs an answer, but I was obedient, and God opened doors I never knew were there. In this personal episode, I share my journey of stepping outside my comfort zone—from drawing house plans to writing stories—and the doubts that nearly made me quit. But then, God sent a letter. Not just any letter—a handwritten note from a prison inmate who read my “silly little story” and found hope in the most unexpected way. This episode is a powerful reminder that obedience doesn't always come with clarity, but it always comes with purpose. If you've ever questioned your calling, struggled with confidence, or wondered if your story matters… this one's for you.

Send us a textI brought together three dear friends to have an honest conversation about perimenopause and menopause because so many of you have been asking about it. We shared our real stories and talked about the challenges like brain fog, weight changes, and sexual adjustments, and my dry eyes that nearly drove me crazy! But here's what I want you to know: menopause isn't just about suffering through symptoms. Each of us found our voices during menopause, finally standing up in toxic relationships and getting angry about toxic teachings we'd tolerated for years. Becoming - A Journey from Clenched Fists to Open Palms After three months away, I'm back with a story of transformation that might just change how you think about rest, performance, and what it means to truly be present. What happens when you step away from the constant pull of social media, the pressure to perform, and the "shoulds" that have driven you for 25 years? In this vulnerable episode, I share what I discovered during my summer sabbatical - and it wasn't what I expected. In this episode, you'll hear about: The profound difference between helping from overflow vs. helping from depletion Why I broke a 25-year pattern of pushing myself to "finish strong" every June What it really looks like to move from clenched fists to open palms The questions that changed everything: "Why am I saying yes to this?" How to create containers for presence (not just productivity) The gift of simplicity and what happens when you truly unplug This episode is for you if: You're feeling pulled in a million directions and can't remember the last time you felt truly present You're tired of performing but scared of what might happen if you stop You're curious about sabbath but don't think you could ever step away You're ready to examine what's really motivating your "yes" responses Your heart is longing for more time with Jesus but life feels too full I'll be honest - this return to podcasting feels vulnerable. But if you're feeling fragmented, weary, or stuck in patterns that are draining your soul, I want you to know you're not alone. Sometimes the most radical thing we can do is open our hands and see what God wants to fill them with. Come grab a cup of coffee and join me as we explore what it looks like to become the women God is calling us to be - not through more doing, but through deeper being. "You're a tree replanted in Eden, bearing fresh fruit every month, never dropping a leaf, always in blossom." - Psalm 1:3 MSG ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to connect with Cherisse? In this insightful episode of the Compared to Who? podcast, host Heather Creekmore welcomes bestselling author, speaker, and Bible teacher Lisa Whittle to discuss her new book, Body and Soul, and the powerful concept of "whole body theology." Together, they delve into the intersection of faith and body image, explore what it means to have a biblical foundation for how we view our bodies, and confront the complicated journey many Christians face with body image and self-worth. Key Points & Takeaways: Whole Body Theology Defined:Lisa shares her journey into developing a “whole body theology” — a comprehensive, biblical belief system that addresses our entire personhood (body, soul, and spirit). This theology is designed to give believers a scriptural foundation for making body-related decisions, rather than relying solely on diet culture or secular self-esteem movements. The Need for a Biblical Approach:Both Heather and Lisa highlight the shortcomings of how the Church often compartmentalizes spiritual and physical health, or accidentally echoes secular body positivity without offering a theological alternative. Lisa asserts that lasting body image peace is grounded in spiritual transformation and discipleship, not just new diets or positive mantras. Personal Body Image Stories:Lisa vulnerably recounts her own "complicated" story with body image, including familial pressures, diet culture, and early struggles with eating disorders. She reveals how the truth of Scripture and God’s view of her body brought genuine freedom, something diets and cultural messages never provided. Discipleship Around Body Image:The conversation stresses the Church’s responsibility to disciple believers in whole body theology, integrating faith and embodied life. Lisa advocates for developing a framework where everyday choices with food, movement, rest, and even work are filtered through the lens of glorifying God. Misuse of Scripture in Body Image:Common verses like “your body is a temple” or “fearfully and wonderfully made” are often misapplied, leading to shame, diet obsession, or misunderstanding. True whole body theology digs deeper into Scripture for a holistic, grace-filled perspective rather than cherry-picking verses to fit societal standards. Rejecting Judgement & Assumptions:Both speakers caution against judging others' bodies from the outside or assuming someone's spiritual health by body size. Such partiality is unbiblical and harmful, and they call for more compassion and understanding within the Church community. Dangers of Diet and Body Positivity Culture:Lisa and Heather warn against simply swinging from diet culture to secular body positivity without a biblical root. They challenge listeners not to accept cultural solutions but to pursue God’s truth for genuine freedom and transformation. About Lisa’s Bible Study (Body and Soul):Lisa explains how her new six-week Bible study walks individuals or groups through the process of building a whole body theology. With videos, scripture dives, reflection questions, and practical steps, participants learn to draw their body beliefs from Scripture—not from culture. Practical Encouragements: Lasting body image freedom comes from aligning your beliefs about your body with God’s Word, not with fleeting diets or positive slogans. True discipleship includes how we steward, honor, and view our physical selves as integral to spiritual life. It’s time for the Church and its people to lead—not follow—in honest, compassionate, gospel-oriented conversations about body image. Do you ever feel restless, chaotic, and unsure — even when you're doing everything ‘right'? You're reading the books, following the advice, trying the proven systems, and still wondering why obedience to God feels so hard. In this episode, we get real about why Christian women struggle with obedience, second-guessing, and inner chaos. The truth is: you're not broken, and you're not failing — but you may be letting other voices grow louder than God's. Even well-meaning people, pastors, or mentors can't replace His direction. If you've ever thought, ‘I can't tell if this is God or just me,' or ‘Why do I feel so unsettled when my life looks fine on the outside?' this conversation is for you. We'll uncover why advice can't give you peace, how to recognize when obedience feels heavy, and what it really means to let God's voice be the loudest. You don't need another checklist or quick fix. You need clarity, peace, and confidence that comes from hearing God above the noise. Let's talk about how to get there. ✨ Don't forget to subscribe for more faith-based encouragement on marriage, wellness, and living boldly in Christ. Hey Friend, Your hormones aren't the problem Most women believe if they could just “fix” their hormones, everything would finally get better. But here's the truth: your hormones aren't the problem — they're the messengers. When your blood sugar, stress, inflammation, or detox systems are out of balance, your hormones send signals to let you know something deeper needs attention. In Episode 4 of my podcast series, I'm unpacking: ✔ Why chasing hormone levels doesn't work long-term ✔ The key stressors that throw your hormones out of balance ✔ A belief shift that takes you from overwhelmed to empowered ✔ How God designed your body's hormones as truth-tellers, not enemies If you've been frustrated by hormone symptoms that never seem to resolve, this episode will give you clarity, hope, and a practical path forward. Your hormones aren't broken — they're speaking. And with the right support, you can finally listen and heal. SHOW NOTES The last episode you probably heard was - Grief 2 Great Day is Going Private – Now you see that more episodes have been added – so you may wonder, ‘what in the world is going on with Grief 2 Great Day? I want to share what's been going on and why and also what you can expect in the future. 2025 has brought a lot of changes for Grief 2 Great Day, the ministry and there have been changes in my personal life and I think sharing some of that with you will help you understand. That doesn't mean the resources are gone, though! Here's what you need to know moving forward: The Lighthouse Community will close at the end of August. The Grief Group for Christian Women (our private Facebook group) has reopened, and you are welcome to join us there. The Grief 2 Great Day Podcast is still available, and you can now access it at www.kathybrasby.com on the grief page or on all major podcast apps. Podcast episodes from the Lighthouse will also be moved over so you won't lose access. While there won't be new episodes every week, there will be occasional new ones and additional resources as God leads. I'm also so grateful for Kathy Brasby—she has graciously led the women in the Lighthouse during my absence and is making her site available to host the podcast and resources. I know change can feel unsettling, but God is faithful, and He is not a God of confusion. My prayer is that these shifts will still provide the encouragement and hope you need in your grief journey—and always point you back to Jesus.
