Want more Oops Your Culture's Showing!, but not too much? In this episode, Dean and Tom deliver just that as they comfortably wade into an exploration of how the Swedish ethos of ‘lagom', which roughly translates as “just the right amount,” relates to Scandinavian, Dutch, and in some ways, Japanese cultures. Plus, after returning to fan-favorite segment Wordplay!, they can't help but go a little overboard when briefly introducing new segments Analogy Hell and Therapy Time. We've already overstayed our welcome in this episode description, so we'll simply encourage you to (calmly, cozily, relaxingly) dive in and enjoy! (Here is the referenced ‘lagom' article by Jonny Thomson on Big Think, from August 2022.) Check out our NEW YouTube channel here (and/or the playlist below)! In episode Twenty-Eight Chanel King returns to continue our discussion from episode Twenty-Seven.In this episode we discuss Psychological first aide. Chanel reviews some of Maslow's hierarchy of needs and integrates them so well into our understanding of the challenges we face when caring for the dying. We spend the majority of this episode discussing boundaries and the good and bad that come from crossing those boundaries.Chanel drops a real truth bomb on us when she says, “We are more alike than different.” In a world where media tries to convince us that we are actually more different, Chanel's perspective is a breath of fresh air.Towards the end, Chanel shares with us the concept of a Recovery Strategy Care Plan which can be referenced as the anacronym, RSCP or “Recipe.”You can download the RSCP by clicking HERE. Scroll down till you find the orange flower and click it. Right below the flower you can actually schedule a free 30 minute session with Instructor king to help you create your care plan. I recommend you take advantage of this right away. I don't think Instructor King will have this kind of availability in the future. She's a big deal!I also remind everyone to be sure and get a google voice number if you have to use your personal cell phone. You can learn more by watching this YouTube video HERE.I also mention a new blog series I'm writing called, “What to expect from your hospice nurse.” You can access the series landing page HERE.In this episode I also mention that I will be taking the next month of. When life-comes-at-you-fast and you're faced with the unexpected, how do you catch your breath? In this episode, Lynn and Nancy share a good laugh about the evening before the official COVID lock-down when the otherwise safety-conscious couples decided to try a new tiki bar! Was this a case of denial or just not having the facts? After acknowledging the reality of a global health pandemic, Nancy explains how their family found peace living in a restrictive urban setting where a public parking garage became a beacon of hope. The Ghosts of Harrenhal: A Song of Ice and Fire Podcast (ASOIAF)
Sansa's dress has arrived. It's as beautiful as she'd hoped but there's a rather large string attached. It's a wedding dress and the groom is Tyrion. Sansa protests. Tyrion commiserates. Joffrey is awful. The whole thing is a fiasco, and their post-wedding bedding goes equally as poorly. Simon and Mackelly keep the receipt for their wedding gift.Chapter Review:Sansa Stark finally gets her long-awaited dress she'd been measured for a while back. She loves it and can't wait for Willas Tyrell to see her in it. She's sure it will make him love her for who she is, not her claim to Winterfell. She has Queen Cersei's entire retinue of handmaids working on beautifying her. Right when she couldn't be any happier about how she looks in the dress, Cersei drops the bomb saying it's wasted on “that gargoyle.” Turns out it's a wedding dress and her groom will be Tyrion Lannister. She refuses and tries to flee, but ultimately concedes to her fate.At the sept, Tyrion offers to call it off, if she'd prefer to marry Lancel Lannister. Sansa figures it doesn't matter. A Lannister is a Lannister. Sansa cries throughout the wedding and things only get worse when Tyrion can't reach Sansa's shoulders to put the Lannister cloak on her. The wedding feast doesn't improve on things, ending with Tyrion threatening to geld King Joffrey.Later in a bedchamber in the Tower of the Hand, the new couple struggle to connect. Sansa is too polite, and too young. Tyrion brings up his previous wife. He makes her undress and get into bed but ultimately can't go through with the bedding. He offers not to touch her until she wants him to. She says that might never happen.Characters/Places/Names/Events:Sansa Stark - Elder daughter of Ned and Catelyn Stark.Tyrion Lannister - Youngest son of Tywin Lannister. Brother to queen Cersei and Jamie Lannister.Margaery Tyrell - Fiancee of King Joffrey Baratheon.Lady Olenna Tyrell - Mother of Lord Mace Tyrell and grandmother to Margaery.Ser Dontos Hollard - Fool to King Joffrey, confidante of Sansa Stark. Has a plan to rescue her, but is rather too fond of a tipple.Willas Tyrell - Heir to Highgarden. In some measure disabled by a horse as a child.Queen Cersei Lannister - Widow of King Robert Baratheon, twin sister of Ser Jamie Lannister. Mother of King Joffrey Baratheon.King Joffrey Baratheon - Bastard son of Jaime Lannister and his twin sister Queen Cersei Lannister. Currently King Joffrey Baratheon First of His Name. It's almost 2023! In Port Charles that means it's time for The Hook to strike again! But surely The Hook is no match for Joss--so feisty! Also, it's so hard to find a good bodyguard these days. And while it was great to see so many characters this week, it will be hard to say goodbye to Britt. Great scene with her and Liesl, who can really rock a velvet suit! Speaking of rocks, will Esme survive a second fall? We'll find out next year! Gia and Keisha wish their fantastic listeners a happy and healthy 2023. They are toying with the idea of improving in some way, but don't hold your breath. I'm Abrielle Devyn, a.k.a. Brell, a.k.a. Kweencreme! Welcome to BOUT DAT TRANS LIFE, a podcast about me - a model, sex worker, content creator, former and future influencer, and parent - and my struggles. I go back to the original roots of my show to mix the outside world with my own. This story hits home. A 26-year-old woman dies while getting a Brazilian Butt Lift because the unlicensed surgeon who operated on her gave her a fatal supply of analgesia. She was put to sleep and never woke back up. This is my biggest fear. I have the same surgery scheduled for myself in 60 days and this story makes me so nervous. What if I don't wake back up? In Episode 28 I take a deeper look into why this woman was killed and how her story should be a cautionary tale for women rushing to get BBLs done by Great Value plastic surgeons to compete with other women. Many people view difficulty as the antithesis of pleasure, happiness, and beauty. When in fact it is the catalyst for the most refined and exquisite version of all three. And this is what God explains in His Word. He reveals how He purposely leverages difficulty (trials, tribulations, and sufferings) in the construction of His saints. Just as fire can destroy, it can also warm. So, in like manner, difficulty can injure, but it can also strengthen. When difficulty is leveraged in faith and in agreement with God's plans and purposes, it always strengthens. And, therefore, the Christian is exhorted by the Apostle James, to consider it pure joy when we face trials or difficulties of any kind.

Isaac Thorne is a man with a serious imagination. Hell Spring, his most recent novel contains (amongst much else) a killer Marilyn Monroe, cataclysmic floods, self-mutilation, time travel and monstrous phalluses. Who better to investigate one of King's more off-kilter, leftfield novels, the fantasy epic The Eyes of the Dragon? We discuss this charming anomaly's place in the King canon, which features some of his most complex, interesting and well drawn characters, as well as the dangers of writing genre fiction and not having it seem overplayed. Thanks to Isaac for coming on, Hell Spring can be found here, and is definitely worth your time. Sign Up for the Free Webinar 3 Steps to Finally Getting Students Consistently Reading and Writing Independently: https://www.workshopteacherschool.com/reading-and-writing-independence-webinar Every classroom has struggling writers. There are many reasons young writers struggle during our writing units. They may feel overwhelmed, be uninterested, have writing skill deficits because of past experiences with writing, or have learning differences. Often these struggling writers tend to be writing far below grade level and their writing abilities cause many unforeseen problems throughout their school careers. For struggling writers, any writing assignment no matter how small or big can cause anxiety, acting out, off-task behavior, or all of the above. In middle and especially high school, the struggle with writing becomes even more problematic as expectations increase. In order to avoid the struggle, these students may get other students off task. Or they may ask for help incessantly or suffer in embarrassed silence. For all of these reasons and more, it's incredibly important for writing teachers focus on building confidence in these writers. To do that we must have a toolbox of strategies they can pull from to support these struggling writers. The good news is that this episode post has twenty-eight essential tools you can utilize no matter what type of struggling writers you have and no matter how their struggles show up in your classroom.

Keisha is the founder and CEO of Coltrane Hyde, a custom software and app development firm committed to transforming the digital landscape by developing software that solves business problems, unites communities, improves lives, and provides opportunities.
