"For those that know him and those that don’t, Tony Colman a.k.a London Elektricity cuts a formidable figure." Having been involved in the UK's drum and bass scene right from the mid-90s, the co-founder of acclaimed drum and bass label Hospital Records has been instrumental in the development of the genre as we've come to know it today. Responsible for some of Hospital’s drum and bass anthems, Colman has developed a reputation as both a producer and DJ. With an impressive back catalogue of singles, EPs and 5 solo albums under his belt, London Elektricity is set to make a big impression on India for the first edition of BASS CAMP Festival in the new year. At the helm of a dance music label identified as having a fresh and unique output, Colman and his co-founders are chargeable for "liquid" drum and bass as most understand it. Responsible for bringing to the forefront artists such as High Contrast, Danny Byrd, Netsky, Logistics and Cyantific, Hospital Records is one of underground dance music's most consistent labels. As a first in our mix series, this is a live recording of a set Colman played at a Hospital Records event in Tokyo last year. MC's and everything. And in all honesty, we couldn't think of anyone better from the international drum and bass scene to start this off for us. Running through a track every couple of minutes it effortlessly glides between genres and various styles of production as well as 7 of London Elektricty's own creations. Artists such as Logistics, Nu:Tone, Danny Byrd and Netsky all get airplay, even dubstep powerhouse Caspa. BDK otherwise known as Big Daddy Klein is a founding member and resident DJ of BASSFoundation, New Delhi’s very first regular drum and bass, dubstep and reggae clubnight. Having discovered dance music in the early 90s after purchasing his first batch of new beat/acid house cassettes, Klein, like most electronic music heads of that era eventually moved on to breakbeat, the backbone to bass music today. Moving on to drum and bass seemed like a natural progression for the young music lover, after some of his friends started promoting regular nights in Rotterdam. It seems fitting that he began promoting bass music once moving to New Delhi in 2007. Within months of the first BASSFoundation event with fellow founders, Ed 'Praxis' Anderson and Taru ‘Delhi Sultanate‘ Dalmia, the collective of 2 young DJ's and 1 MC had carved themselves a solid niche within the capital's burgeoning electronic underground. Unfortunately today, BASSFoundation lies low. With two of its members based abroad, it has been left down to Delhi's iconic MC, Delhi Sultanate to hold true to his roots. He does this with a new project dedicated to roots reggae, with a strictly vinyl-only policy, aptly titled BASSFoundation Roots. This weekend however, BDK, under his Big Daddy Klein moniker, has been invited to play BASS CAMP Festival in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore alongside Dub Phizix, Jazzsteppa, Ox7gen, Tarqeeb, Mr Herbalist and DJ Uri. A good reason to get a mix then! Playing under his BDK guise, dedicated to UK bass music, swaying towards genres such as UK house and techno, it’s a lush selection of tracks from some of our favourite current producers. A total treat for those of us who’ve been following this sound with pleasure over the years, but also a perfect and well-rounded introduction to newcomers or the less familiar. "With this mix I've tried to bring a different, not straight up dance-floor vibe, that can hopefully be enjoyed in different settings. From chilling at home on a Sunday morning to cruising around on your bicycle late at night. This is a strictly vinyl mix. It's not planned, not edited but carefully selected" - BDK (BASSFoundation) For a tracklist and further info, head over here: http://www.thewildcity.com/EN/music.xhtml/article/2732-wild-city-039-bdk-bassfoundation

The legendary drum and bass duo Concord Dawn a.k.a Evan Short and Matt Harvey is quite simply one of the most recognised names in drum and bass history. After bursting onto the international scene in early 2000 with their "Best Electronic Album" and "Best Independent Release" Disturbance, the duo rocked the foundations of drum and bass into a movement that eventually would see the genre move into the mainstream. Classic tracks such as “Morning Light” and “Don’t Tell Me” found international acclaim and are still heavily play-listed across the planet. This week, Matt Harvey will be bringing his critically acclaimed brand of drum and bass to audiences in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Bangalore headlining the 6th installlent of BASS CAMP Festival, the country's only bass heavy music festival. The duo’s Wild City mix is as expected mainly centered around their own productions and music. A 25 minute brockout of what you can expect as part of their Indian tour. "This is a mix of a selection of tracks I made last year, some out now and a bunch still yet to come! I hope y'all enjoy it." - Concord Dawn For a tracklist and more information head over to: http://www.thewildcity.com/EN/music.xhtml/article/1213-wild-city-015-concord-dawn
