Though I am currently in working on a healthier life style that includes using herbs, I feel like when people see me or see that Im plus sized that they may not want to work with me or any of my products.I feel like this is my calling I have fallen in love with herbs and how they naturally work with in the body. but I feel like this could possibly hinder me from even opening my own practice one day. I kinda feel alone in this due to most of the herbalist I see on social media are very fit and “healthy”.Am I wrong to want to be an herbalist even though I am also going through a battle and journey with my weight?The bottom line is: we need you. We need plus-sized herbalists. We need everyone, no matter where you are in your journey, whether you're small or big or short or tall or thin or fat or disabled or abled or sedentary or athletic or anything else.And the other bottom line is that weight and health are not the same thing. I know that society has all these ideas about what is “good” and “healthy” but that doesn't mean they're true. You can be healthy and big! You can be healthy and small! You can be unhealthy and be small or big too!We're all just trying to get through our day, and we're all in the body we're in. You don't have to get thin to get healthy, so let's make our bodies healthy now, regardless of what size or shape they are. Most resources state that both played it in the key of F Major, but that Hank played it in D, using a capo to raise the chords to F. I don't like using capos because you loose a lot of the guitar's range and it limits your breaks/solos. So, I play it in open D, which you can capo up if you like, and in open F. Changing keys is called transposing, and it is a very useful skill to match songs to the singer's voice or just to play more in your own style. I picked up this baritone ukulele for $20. After playing around with the tunings a bit, I settled on "plectrum tuning", which is C,G,B,D. That tuning brought out a rich tone from the instrument. I play "Saint James Infirmary Blues", the classic New Orleans funeral march, so you can hear what an awesome rhythm and melody instrument the uke became just by tuning down two strings... even with a broken finger! Playing music does not have to be expensive. When an FDA inspector showed up to inspect my student's herbal product business, he flagged her elderberry echinacea tincture as dangerous, and cited Google AI as his research source. I've covered three British herbalists so far on this podcast, and each has made a notable contribution to the development of botany and apothecary practice in Britain. This week, we're going to meet Maud Grieve, whose contribution took a different form. Yes, she wrote a lot about plants. She wrote A Modern Herbal, in fact. Yet she also contributed to the wartime efforts of the First World War in the realm of medicinal plants. She's perhaps not as well-known as the other three herbal writers I've featured: Elizabeth Blackwell, William Turner, and Nicholas Culpeper. She didn't illustrate her herbal, like Blackwell. Master Gardener, Soozi Pline, speaks with local herbal practitioner, Nancy Williams. Nancy grew up on her family's farm in Marion County and began learning about herbs and natural remedies as a child. She studied with Phyllis D. Light -  4th generation herbalist and health educator in North Alabama. Harvesting plants and herbs she grows on her property, Nancy makes teas, tinctures, salves, and syrup remedies.
