We've been huge fans of the Klasse Wrecks crew for years now. Their graphic style and the sounds they put out continuously demand attention time and time again! So we're very excited to welcome Mr. Ho, one of the brains behind the label and amazing producer, to take our guest mix series for a spin. "The main thing I was trying to do was to make it sound coherent. There's an electro feel throughout this mix, but not everything would be classified by purists as electro. Its still relatively early on in the year, so I've actually been revisiting some tracks that I have in my collection but haven't played in a while, which makes up for a lot the music in this mix. Releases - I've had two records out on Klasse Wrecks since the beginning of this year. One of them is WRECKS048 - Mr. Ho "000 Baby w/ Om Unit remix", and the other is a track called "Hardly Working" on an Acid flavoured release called FRISB03 (the release comes with an acid frisbee). In April there is a track on Japan's Cowboy Family new label, the track is called "Aw Shucks" At some point this year there will be the release of my remix for Masarima "Freek like U" on Clone records, a track on Innershade's Altered Circuits, another EP with Luca Lozano on Klasse Wrecks, and my second EP for Cabaret Records. This year I am excited to be making my debuts in a few festivals - Rainbow Disco Club in Japan and Korea, Polifonic in Italy, Miki Maki festival in France, and Dekmantel in the Netherlands. Once upon a time, V.I.V.E.K Sharda was unhappy with the sound at UK nightclubs and parties—sound that he felt couldn't capture the deepest, truest vibrations of the music he wanted to play and hear—so he just made his own sound system. (Naturally, he called it System.) That should give you an idea of how seriously Sharda takes his wubs and his sub-bass, and if you have even a passing interest in UK sound system culture or dub's crossover with dance music—including, yes, dubstep—then you've probably heard of V.I.V.E.K, or at least heard one of his chest-rattling records. Along with producers like Om Unit and Kryptic Minds—both of whom feature in the mix below—Sharda has never been one for following trends or concerned about scenes. Instead, he's fully devoted to the pulse of dub and the luxury of bassweight. He's put out slow but steady stream of ultra-heavy releases on his own labels System Music and VIVEK, and now he's on a mission to change perceptions of what 140 BPM music can sound like. That's what you'll hear on his RA Podcast, a meditative and occasionally tectonically-shifting mix that highlights dubstep, dub and its many offshoots—not just staggered drums and subterranean low-end but smooth swing and soulful melodies, too. Metalheadz Podcast 72 and the first of the year comes from Friske with a showcase of self-productions and current favourites. Now with an album under his belt, Friske has been working away behind the scenes on new music for Metalheadz as well as his own imprint Requisite Music.

2 years on from his debut album we welcome Agzilla to the Metalheadz podcast series with a colossal 4 hour mix of breakbeats celebrating his prominent tastes, influences and current favourites. As a veteran DJ and pioneer of the underground sound in Iceland, Agzilla has remained connected to Metalheadz since his first meeting with Goldie way back in 1991. That relationship and affinity with the label led to the release of the aforementioned debut album in 2019. Entitled 'Cats Can Hear Ultrasound', the 13 track LP covers a diverse range of BPMs and styles, blurring the lines between the rough and the smooth and emerging as an authentic body of music for the years to come.

Our first podcast of 2021 comes from Mako, a staple of the Metalheadz camp and an artist that has released both a solo album and a collab album (as OneMind) on the label in recent years. For this edition the Bristol-based producer and DJ has dug deep into his crates to deliver a Certificate 18 special, a groundbreaking label founded by Paul Arnold in 1993 that went on to nurture the talents of early pioneering figures such as Photek, Source Direct, Teebee, Klute and more. In Goldie's own words "Certificate 18 isn't really a label, in the same way that Ibiza Records isn't a label, in the same way that Kikman Records isn't a label. It's the very foundation. It's a certain parallax with those labels that sometimes when we're in the dark we need to shine a brighter light on those that have paved the way."

Since then the Cardiff based producer has honed and refined his already distinctive sound, so much so he now has an impending debut main label EP set for release later this year. In this near 3 hour podcast Quartz explores the 170 spectrum before ending on some favourites from his own personal collection.

Stepping up for their first official podcast since joining the label in 2014, SCAR are a duo who've now delivered 2 albums with work on their 3rd already ongoing.
