Papa Roach's Jacoby Shaddix dives into new music, looks back on 25 years of 'Infest' and answers a few questions about Carrie Underwood, Steve Harvey and Ozzy Osbourne.
Harvey Danger vocalist Sean Nelson makes a good case for his group being, in his words, "the last band through the door" of the alternative revolution: Though the quartet went gold thanks to the frenetic, inescapable "Flagpole Sitta" as the nineties closed, the landscape for them (and cohorts such as Cake, Semisonic or Fastball) would look much different a year later. By 2000, a sudden contingent of beefy backwards cappers, led by the likes of Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach, had commandeered arenas and the airwaves as an antithesis to pop radio. Paired with a massive label shake-up, this left Harvey Danger's expansive second album King James Version DOA. But like a lot of unsung masterworks, many have praised King James Version over the last quarter century for its dialed-in cacophony and sarcastic swagger -- enough to drum up major excitement for a first-ever vinyl pressing, which hit shelves as a Record Store Day exclusive recently from both Barsuk and Latent Print Records. Today, Nelson gives us the full arc of how King James Version was born, died and rose again, taking its throne on 12-inch format to mark the album's 25th anniversary. Follow @officialharveydangerarchive and @actualseannelson on Instagram for updates. You can also hear The Wonder of It All, Sean's engaging podcast on the blessings and curses of fame, via this link or wherever you listen.

Ever wonder what happens when a bearded, tattooed guy starts wearing glitter and red dresses on social media? Kevin (aka Iron Sanctuary) reveals the wild journey that took him from construction worker to viral TikTok sensation with millions of followers practically overnight. What began as comedy videos parodying "five-minute crafts" during early COVID lockdowns evolved into something far more meaningful. Kevin shares how radical transparency about his struggles with mental health and addiction created deep connections with viewers who felt seen for perhaps the first time. "I spent a lot of time trying to give as much of a view into my life and be as vulnerable as possible," he explains, "because social media is very skewed."The conversation takes a powerful turn when Kevin reveals that his recent return to creating raw, authentic mental health content has literally saved lives. "Six separate people have messaged me and said that was the day they were going to check out, and they didn't because of that video," he shares, highlighting what true purpose feels like after a period of feeling lost following health scares and stepping back from competitive bodybuilding.Whether discussing his "do it anyway" philosophy that builds mental resilience, the brotherhood of the traveling red dress that somehow got Papa Roach's lead singer into women's clothing within five minutes of meeting, or the challenges of taking yourself seriously in a world gone mad, this episode delivers equal parts hilarity and heart. As Kevin puts it, "Life is absurd. You have to embrace the absurdity, otherwise what are you going to do?"Connect with this bearded mental health warrior across all platforms @IronSanctuary and discover his clothing line "Fighting Mental Illness, One Rep at a Time" or his approach to fitness coaching that addresses both physical and mental wellbeing. Today on Too Opinionated, we sit down with our good friend Brian Elder! Brian Elder is a recording artist, songwriter, and worship leader who lived out the message written in Joshua 1:9, by saying “yes” when God asked him to move several states away in a moment's notice to follow a call to ministry. Raised in Virginia, Brian grew up with a love for music. While he gained experience performing and opening for several bands including Brett Michaels and Papa Roach, he felt something was missing. After several years in the industry, he decided to give music up for good. He packed up his guitar, and began working in film. God, however, had different plans. In 2019, When Elder began to battle depression and anxiety, he cried out to God begging for purpose. God led him back to his guitar. With a new faith-fueled passion, Elder began writing songs of worship, drawing from his experience and the power of God's presence in his life. Opportunities opened for Brian to perform in various locations from coffee shops, churches, and a prison ministry tour, to large stages in front of thousands, in addition to leading worship. Robert McTurnal, the Lead Pastor-BridgePoint Church is quoted as saying, Brian's music “cuts through the distracting noise of the world and brings his audience to a place of reverent introspection.” Brian recently released his new album, Passenger Side. Today Brian loves to share his music around the globe with a testimony that reminds us, hope exists, and God's healing power can be found in worship. Join Janice for an inspiring chat with recording artist, songwriter, and worship leader Brian Elder! Opportunities opened for Brian to perform in various locations from coffee shops, churches, and a prison ministry tour, to large stages in front of thousands, in addition to leading worship. Brian recently released his new album, Passenger Side. Today Brian loves to share his music around the globe with a testimony that reminds us, hope exists, and God's healing power can be found in worship.
