On this week's rerun episode of Artist Friendly, Joel Madden is joined by Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach. More than 20 years since their inception, Papa Roach continue to thrive. Their 2000 album Infest seems to grow bigger every year as new people discover songs like “Last Resort” and “Blood Brothers.” They also remain on the road in support of their 2022 LP Ego Trip, including wrapping the second leg of their own Rockzilla tour and supporting Shinedown across the U.S. last year. “I'm not good when shit's just calm, quiet, still — I need some chaos,” Shaddix told Alternative Press in 2022. “I've got too much energy inside, and if I just sit stagnant, it drives me fucking mad. I need that release — that's why I go run all the time. That's why I go to the gym, because I'm an energetic being. So performing is such a healthy experience for me. I get to explode, physically and emotionally.” ------- Listen to their Artist Friendly conversation on Spotify. ------- Follow Artist Friendly! LA Symphonic Metal LEVINIA Unleashes “Silver Tongues” Exploring Dark Grooves Against Modern IdolsProduced by Brandon Friesen (Halestorm, Nickelback, The Hu, Papa Roach) and lead guitarist Alon Mei Tal is hear to talk about it. Los Angeles symphonic metal hybrid Levinia has announced the release of their second single and music video of 2026, “Silver Tongues,” the next chapter in a four single rollout that marks the band's most ambitious era yet. The track follows the success of their first 2026 release, “The Thorn.” It continues their collaboration with acclaimed producer Brandon Friesen, known for his work with Halestorm, Nickelback, The Hu, and Papa Roach. “Silver Tongues” showcases a new facet of Levinia's evolving identity, groovier, more rhythm driven, and deceptively restrained on the surface, while lyrically cutting deep. The band describes the track as a warning against the seductive pull of modern celebrity culture, where public figures are elevated to near religious status. "We think fans are going to have a strong reaction to these upcoming releases because each song reveals a very different side of Levinia. “Silver Tongues” will likely catch listeners by surprise with its groovier, more rhythm-driven feel. It is a bit more restrained melodically on the surface, but the lyrical message is sharp and unsettling, which we think fans will connect with once they sit with the song. It's about the danger of surrendering your identity to someone else's narrative. It's a rebellion against polished voices that promise certainty while quietly demanding conformity. Overall, we believe fans will appreciate not only the heaviness but the versatility. This is Levinia pushing into new territory while still maintaining the cinematic drama and emotional weight that listeners know us for," says vocalist Kourt Henson. The single's artwork reflects this theme with a commanding, mysterious figure pressing a finger to her lips, an homage to a striking behind the scenes photograph of Henson that inspired the visual direction. “Silver Tongues” is only the second step in a four part journey. Each planned single to be released will reveal a different side of Levinia's identity, pushing them into new creative territory while preserving the cinematic drama and emotional weight fans have come to expect. Levinia's writing process has grown increasingly collaborative, with Alon and Kourt shaping the melodic and lyrical core before the rest of the band builds the dynamic foundation around it. This approach has led to music that feels more cohesive, more vocal driven, and more emotionally impactful. Kourt's lyrics draw heavily from personal experience, classical literature, and folklore, blending confession with gothic storytelling. The new singles embrace darker romanticism, haunting imagery, and a more mature narrative voice, marking a significant evolution from their earlier work.Recommended for fans of Within Temptation, Amaranthe, Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, and Delain, listen to “Silver Tongues” at the following links: Music Video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vqhk6j6wzKsSpotify - https://hypeddit.com/levinia/silvertonguesFirst Single - Music Video - The Thorn - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30EmGiQL7ugClick Here to Subscribe to The Adventures of Pipeman for PERKS, BONUS Content & FREE GIVEWAYS! Take some zany and serious journeys with The Pipeman aka Dean K. We are the Popeye's chicken biscuit of the metal scene. People can't take us because they choke immediately. The first bite, they're already on the ground gagging... You can't f*** with UnityTX. UnityTX is the Popeyes chicken biscuit of the metal scene—if you aren't ready, you're going to choke. Jay Webster and the band join Lizzie right after their set at Bottom Lounge in Chicago to get real about the current state of heavy music, the BIPOC hardcore experience, and dodging the Octane-core formula.     Lizzie sat down with Dallas heavyweights UnityTX at Bottom Lounge in Chicago for an unfiltered conversation about the reality of modern heavy music. Touring alongside Varials, the band digs into the writing process behind their track 'Heinous' and how they intentionally fuse horrorcore, 90s rap, and the heavy grooves of Korn and Meshuggah without falling into the predictable Octane-core radio trap. As a predominantly BIPOC band bridging hardcore punk and hip-hop, they open up about the frustration of 'torch passing' in the nu-metal revival—explaining the massive difference between genuine support from acts like P.O.D. versus surface-level nods from the Limp Bizkit or Papa Roach camps. Stick around after the interview as Brian and Lizzie yap to debate who actually holds the top three spots in the new wave of nu-metal. "I feel like on this record, we didn't cater to, like, trying to get on the radio. We didn't cater to try to, you know, make the heaviest breakdown... We just wanted to make music that feels timeless for us." "That's what nu metal is to me. That is, like, the ultimate combination of cultures. UnityTX is really good at doing that, and everybody wants to acknowledge it only when it's cool." JOIN THE CLUB! Interview by Kris PetersAustralia, prepare to set your fazers to stun this September, with Welsh ragga metal legends SKINDRED primed to return to our shores for their biggest ever Australian headline tour! Opening proceedings on Tuesday 1 September in Perth, SKINDRED will head through Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney, and close out on Sunday 6 September in Brisbane.Wielding a formidable (and deserved) reputation as one of the best live bands on the planet, SKINDRED have been stupefying audiences with their heart-thumping blend of reggae, punk, hip hop, nu metal, rock and electronica since forming in the late 90s. Hailing from Newport in Wales, SKINDRED's innovation and hybrid agility saw the group explode out of the underground and into enduring infamy, now with eight studio albums to date, multiple award wins, countless performances and millions of fans spanning the globe, all under the ardent gaze of frontman Benji Webbe.Releasing their debut album Babylon in 2002, SKINDRED have consistently unleashed new music throughout their career, and 2026 is no exception with the hotly-anticipated release of their ninth studio album You Got This due out on April 17. Featuring the newly slimmed-down trio of Webbe, Mikey Demus and Arya Goggin working alongside GRAMMY-winning producer Jay Ruston (Diana Ross, Meat Loaf, Mr Bungle), You Got This picks up where the band's acclaimed 2023 album Smile left off, with vibrant dancehall hues fused with hooks, earworms and hard-hitting slammers all lying in wait on album #9; and it's a collection of songs that are also set to inevitably stun in a live setting. On a live front, SKINDRED are certainly not your average band, with their exuberant brand of chaos never skimping on unity as well as pedal-to-the-metal technicality. Whether performing alongside the likes of KISS, Korn, Papa Roach and Rob Zombie, or leaving festival crowds in a sweaty euphoria on some of the biggest global stages, it's not hyperbole to declare that a SKINDRED live show is something you'll be talking about for years, if not decades, to come. Most recently delighting Aussie fans in 2024, performing as part of Knotfest Australia, SKINDRED's previous down under performances have been praised time and time again.HEAVY sat down with Webbe to talk about the album and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Hailing from Vacaville, California and forming back in the early 90s, PAPA ROACH embody resilience in every sense of the word.Teaming up with The Used in 2023 for a double-header Australian run, PAPA ROACH balanced fan-favourites with plenty of surprises for their Aussie fans. And if the walls could talk at any of the countless venues PAPA ROACH have played throughout their careers across the globe, both as the main event and alongside Red Hot Chili Peppers, Limp Bizkit, Eminem and more, the resounding sentiment would be that PAPA ROACH aren't just revered for their longevity; this is a band who can adapt, survive and thrive, brandishing an underdog spirit with prime-time appeal. And they'll be bringing it with spades alongside A DAY TO REMEMBER.HEAVY sat down with frontman Jacoby Shaddix to chat more."It's gonna be a banger of a tour, man. "A bunch of new music. We've been writing new music and we've got something that we're really excited about. We've been releasing new music and we've had some great successes recently worldwide that are just blowing my mind. We've got this song right now, Wake Up Calling, that's in it's third week at number one in the rock charts in America which is awesome. To be stepping into 2026 and kicking it off here in Australia is going to be amazing. We've got a big year planned ahead of us so there's a lot of good things going on in the P Roach world."Down the track we dive deeper into the history of Papa Roach, touching on the success of their second album Infest and what his initial thoughts of the album were."It was special to us," he recalled, smiling "I really feel that we thought we had something special, we just didn't know the world was gonna connect with it in such a way that they did. We thought we were gonna put out an album, tour in a van and maybe sell 150, 200 000 records, and that's not what happened (smiles). We put out an album and it was like a rocket ship ride to the top. I didn't know how to handle fame. I didn't know how to handle success, and it was just a very wild time for us. I'll tell you this, we had a lot of great times in that era and a lot of big wins and a lot of big moments. I look back upon that time of my life with a lot of… there were great moments that I was proud of, and then there were moments that I was like 'man, I regret that'. There's no handbook to becoming famous. There were moments that I handled it gracefully, and moments that I just went at it like an idiot."In the full interview, Jacoby talks more about the tour and what to expect, the three bands on the Big Rock Tour and how they compliment each other, the early days of Papa Roach, the success of Infest, sticking to their own path musically, mental health and more.Tickets from www.destroyalllines.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Colony House is back with a new album, and they sat down with Emily to reflect on 10 years of making music and what they want the next decade to look like. In RELEVANT Buzz: Papa Roach lead singer Jacoby Shaddix shares his powerful faith journey — from foxhole prayer, to sobriety and a faith that sounds like the real thing. We also bring a story flying under the radar: nearly a million Christians are living inside Iran right now, and we hear directly from believers on the ground to get their thoughts on the war and religious freedom. Plus, the backlash to the Atlanta Hawks announcing "Magic City Night" — a themed game night centered around an infamous Atlanta strip club. Then, pastor Kyle Idleman joins us to talk about how modern American Christianity has slowly turned Jesus into a therapist and self-help guru — and what we've lost in the process. It's a challenge worth sitting with.In Slices: a Turkish soccer player performs CPR on a seagull he accidentally hit mid-game, United Airlines starts banning passengers who refuse headphones, and we close with a Spring Break edition of Would You Rather.01:00 — The crocheting trend taking over 03:48 — The appeal of old stuff10:41 — RELEVANT BUZZ 10:41 — Papa Roach lead singer Jacoby Shaddix shares his Christian testimony. Twenty-six years ago, I was a few months into my first ever radio gig. Tweny-six years ago, Papa Roach were putting out their second full-length album and first to be released on a major label called Infest. Not too long after that, I met Jacoby while doing radio stuff, and he was doing press, and we've stayed in touch ever since. So when Papa Roach, who are fresh off the biggest year of their carreer released a new song, I reached out and said let's chat for my show The Cutting Edge Countdown and for this podcast Cutter's Rockcast. There's a lot to celebrate if you're Jacoby Shaddix, and new music is only part of it.*photo credit for this episode belongs to Decker from Razor 94.4/1047*

In this lively episode, host Clay Edwards kicks off with a FAFO Friday vibe, broadcasting from the Men's Health and Women's Wellness in Mississippi studios. He invites listeners to engage via text, livestream comments, or calls, aiming for 50 likes to boost visibility on platforms like X, YouTube, and Rumble.   The first hour features special guest Chip Matthews, joining for a nostalgic dive into Jackson's bar and restaurant history. They reminisce about iconic spots like Crechelle's, which is closing soon, sharing stories of a memorable final visit with phenomenal steaks and service. The conversation shifts to old favorites such as The Dock, Pops Saloon, Roundup, Rodeos, Buffalo Chips, and more, prompted by listener texts and comments. They touch on live music's resurgence at venues like Martin's Downtown and Cameron's Garage, and even discuss Gene Simmons' views on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame excluding classic bands while including hip-hop artists.   Clay and Chip share rock concert memories, including shows with Papa Roach, Seether, Vertical Horizon, and Stroke 9. Listeners chime in with their favorite defunct and current bars, evoking spots like Conestoga, Miles Tavern, Red Dog Saloon, and The Edge.   In the second hour, attorney Sean Yerkraut joins via video to break down the legal victory for Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who received a waiver to play another season despite NCAA opposition. They discuss the injunction preventing irreparable harm, the NCAA lawyers' dramatic courtroom exit, and potential appeals to the Mississippi Supreme Court, noting the slim chances of success given local ties. The chat briefly touches on broader NCAA issues like antitrust exemptions and athlete compensation, plus a teaser for Sean's upcoming fill-in show.   Closing out, State Representative Fred Shanks joins for the "Under the Dome" segment, recapping legislative deadline week. They cover the death of the ballot initiative bill in the Senate due to concerns over out-of-state influence on issues like abortion and marijuana, emphasizing the need to protect against dark money while encouraging constituents to contact reps directly.   Clay wraps up with thanks to guests and listeners, teasing a Thursday fill-in with Sean, and wishing everyone a safe Valentine's weekend.

In this episode, Filipe Pampuri tells the whole wild arc: teenage studio raids in São Paulo, building a home studio so serious they moved mom out of her bedroom, hopping to L.A. to mix at NRG with Jay Baumgardner, mastering at Sterling Sound, touring alongside Papa Roach and P.O.D., and accidentally launching a pedal company that turned into an art project with knobs. We dig into Beetronics' visual identity, the leap from hand-painted customs to the signature faceplates, the breakout Royal Jelly moment, and the brand-new BeeBeeDee—an analog delay that nails the classic sound and then goes sideways with lo-fi textures and pitch-shifted octaves. Also: why São Paulo pizza will ruin you for life, what “B” actually stands for, and a reminder that you make the music, not the gear. The nickname that became Beetronics and the Comic-Con-meets-NAMM launch DIY beginnings: ADAT mishaps, studio obsession, and learning electronics to keep sessions alive L.A. chapter: NRG, Sterling Sound, and opening for big rock tours How a custom “Walk The Hell” turned into orders… and then a company Designing pedals as instruments: art direction, faceplates, and community shout-outs Deep dive on the BeeBeeDee analog delay: classic tone, lo-fi mode, clever HP/LP tone shaping, and square-wave pitch tricks for “one-guitar, fake-band” madness Philosophy check: chase inspiration first, gear second Check out the stuff on their website HERE https://www.beetronicsfx.com/ Support The Show And Connect! Send us a textLong before superhero shows dominated television on the CW, Smallville pioneered the genre with its fresh take on Superman's origin story. The show's ambitious approach - following Clark Kent through his formative years before donning the iconic cape and costume - created a blueprint that countless superhero series would later follow.Diving into Season One feels like opening a time capsule from 2001. The soundtrack filled with Lifehouse, Papa Roach, and Sum 41 instantly transports you back to a simpler era of television storytelling. What makes this first season fascinating is watching the creators experiment with format and tone - establishing the "freak of the week" structure while gradually building deeper character arcs that would eventually span the show's impressive ten-season run.Michael Rosenbaum's portrayal of Lex Luthor stands as one of the show's greatest achievements. His nuanced performance creates a character both sympathetic and dangerous, establishing a complex friendship with Clark that viewers know is destined for tragedy. Equally impressive is the Kent family dynamic, with John Schneider and Annette O'Toole delivering what many consider the definitive portrayal of Superman's adoptive parents. Their unwavering moral guidance provides the emotional foundation that shapes Clark's journey toward becoming a hero. The early meteor rock mythology (they don't even call it kryptonite yet!) creates both a narrative engine for weekly adventures and a compelling metaphor for teenage transformation. Each "meteor freak" represents different aspects of adolescent anxiety - fears about appearance, acceptance, and identity that resonate beyond the superhero trappings. These episodes may seem formulaic now, but they established crucial building blocks for the epic story that would unfold over the next decade.Have you revisited Smallville recently? We'd love to hear how it holds up for you after all these years. "They probably should've just ended it once they escaped the first time.""Yellowstone" . . . "I'm currently half through Season Five, and it feels like watching endless streams of country music videos. So far, the NINE episodes I've watched should've been one, or two at best."Lost" . . .
