In this month's podcast special, Charlie and George get nasty and talk villains with author, podcaster and filmmaker, Timon Singh! The brothers talk to Timon about his books Born to Be Bad and Born to Be Bad Part 2, where he interviews the greatest villains of 80s and 90s cinema! Timon's books are recommended reading for Retro Ramble listeners, as they include interviews with the likes of Vernon Wells (Commando), Ronny Cox (Total Recall, Robocop), Martin Kove (The Karate Kid) and Robert Partick (Terminator 2) amongst many others! The brothers also find time to also discuss Timon's other ventures, hosting the Bristol Bad Film Club, the documentary he produced, In Search of The Last Action Heroes, and his thoughts on the current state of action cinema. This week Mike, Rich and Steve are joined by the awesome TIMON SINGH, creator of The Bristol Bad Film Club, author of BORN TO BE BAD volume 1 and Volume 2 and, it would seem, professional game show contestant! We start the episode chatting to Timon about his books before getting him to assist us with reviewing this weeks films. We start off with MIDNIGHT IN THE SWITCHGRASS, yet another film to contain a dash of Bruce Willis, but actually starring Megan Fox, Emile Hirsch and Lukas Haas. Next up is THE GOD COMMITTEE. This is a medical drama starring Kelsey Grammer and is a film that we were not looking forward to sitting through...did it win us over? UNION BOUND is the latest "true story" from the American Civil War to reach the UK. Only myself and Rich managed to sit through this one.... A DEADLY LEGEND is an American Folk Horror movie regarding the uncovering of a stone circle...or is it? Our Short Shot this week is a fan film based on the a video game: CYBERPUNK 2077 - PHOENIX PROGRAMME has a lot going for it but with a 40 min running time have they over-egged the pudding? Click the link to watch the whole 40 min film! Having put Timon through his paces with the films so far, we really test his mettle with THE MADDENING in our DTV Throwback. Starring Burt Reynolds, Angie Dickinson and Mia Sara, this is a crazy psycho horror which has just popped up on Prime... Follow the Short Shots TWITTER page, where we will be linking to a short film every day! Don't forget to also check out our main show, the DTV DIGEST on TWITTER and FACEBOOK!

We’re on a road… A road… to REVENGE! Our flick this week was a recommendation from our friends over at Bad Movie Sunday (which Bristol Bad Film Club was kind enough to give us access to), and we cannot thank them enough for it. We were joined by our friend (and first-time guest), Gray, as we viewed and discussed the masterpiece that is Road to Revenge (1993) aka GETEVEN aka Karate Cowboy aka Satanic Panic. Just kidding about those last two… Or are we? Road to Revenge follows disgraced former police officer (and current limo driver), Rick Bode, as he attempts to take down a Satanic cult- which happens to be headed by his former partner, Normad. Aided by his girlfriend, Cindy (a former cult member), his perpetually drunk best friend, Huck, and a Native American mannequin, Rick sets off to get even. Armed with nothing more than some leather pants and a song, John De Hart mystifyingly manages to make this vanity project completely entertaining (and bizarrely endearing). Listen up as we discuss the Shimmy Slide, black-belt poodles, and uncomfortable sex scenes involving ice cubes! Check out Bad Movie Sunday! Do you pretend to have seen Citizen Kane? Nod along when your friends are discussing the ins and outs of The Three Colours Trilogy without knowing what the hell they’re talking about? Avoided the Fast and Furious films like the plague because you fear it'll be as if Michael Bay has taken amphetamines? Due to personal preferences, everyone has blindspots when it comes to cultural touch-points and cinema is no different. When it comes to movies, hosts Timon Singh and Tara Judah are generally at opposite ends of the cinematic spectrum. One likes their films with depth, feeling and something important to say. The other is happy if there’s aliens, swords or a good car chase in there somewhere. On Cinema Blindspot, Ti and Tara will introduce to the other a film that they would not normally watch, has passed them by or have deliberately avoided and discuss whether or not they have been wrong all this time. In this introductory episode, the Ti and Tara discusses their cinematic differences, key blindspots in their film knowledge and their mutual love of Nicolas Cage. Tara Judah is a freelance film writer and radio critic, as well as co-director of Bristol's premier video shop 20th Century Flicks. Tara's writing on cinema can also be found at tarajudah.com. Ti Singh is a former contributor to Den of Geek and once bumped into Andy Serkis at the Albert Hall. He is a purveyor of B-movies and runs the Bristol Bad Film Club. Cinema Blindspot can be found on Facebook and on Twitter at @CinemaBlindspot. Find us individually on Twitter at @midnightmovies and @timonsingh
The Bristol Bad Film Club was co-founded by Timon Singh, a lifelong aficionado of terrible monster movies and junk cinema, who screens stinkers like Samurai Cop and Lifeforce. They do once-a-month screenings, with the major criterion being "there must be a bar present at the venue." They've rented out the city's planetarium and have done other unique screenings. On this podcast, we chat about Mathilda May, David Hasselhoff, Patrick Stewart, Caroline Munro, Electric Boogaloo: The Wild Untold Story of Cannon Films, Get Even, Pulgasari and Vigilante. Vigilante was directed by one of our faves (William Lustig of Maniac fame) and stars many of our faves from the b movie circuit: Robert Forster, Fred Williamson, Steve James and the one and only Joe Spinell.
