Underrated and underappreciated or just plain bad? Well, turns out, it might be a bit of column A, a bit of column B. Is the movie a tonal mess? Absolutely? Is the set design and score magnificent? Indeed they are. Well, what of Stallone as Dredd? Turns out, he's actually pretty decent......did you know I'd say that? Listen in, download and subscribe via the link in the bio.

Alors, pourquoi New York ? New York, la nuit.

In this episode of Drinks and a Movie, I'm reviewing First Blood (1982), the film that introduced the world to John Rambo, and compare it to David Morrell's 1972 novel that inspired it. We'll look at how the movie streamlined and reshaped the source material, why Stallone's performance became iconic, and how the book's darker, more complex themes differ from the Hollywood version. Along the way, I'll talk about the production history, the cultural context of post-Vietnam America, and why First Blood remains one of the most striking action thrillers of its time. Grab a drink and join me for this breakdown of one of cinema's most famous adaptations.

From Rocky to Rambo to his latest hit Tulsa King, Sylvester Stallone has spent decades defying the odds. Long before Hollywood stardom, he was a struggling actor in a New York apartment, writing the script for Rocky that would change his life. In this Sitdown, Stallone reflects on the hardships that fueled his drive, why he refused to let anyone else play Rocky, and how receiving the Kennedy Center Honors has impacted his perspective on legacy.
Welcome to the DMF. I'm Justin Younts, and today we're diving deep into the dark side of Hollywood through the story of Alan Katz. There was an ulterior motive behind hiring Angie, a supermodel with no acting experience, and it led to a series of unfortunate events that almost derailed Alan's career. Having worked with many actors, Alan believes the best performances come from being raw and real, not just acting. But Angie was miscast, and the emotional turmoil she faced only made things worse. As production unraveled, Alan found himself in a world filled with betrayal, heartbreak, and a lot of drama—especially with Sylvester Stallone's antics behind the scenes. These stories reveal the wild and often harsh realities of the film industry.Beyond the set, Alan also struggled with depression, reaching a point where he almost lost everything. But through the chaos, he discovered a way to stabilize his mood and reignite his creative spark.Alan's journey is one of resilience, creativity, and the fight against darkness—a powerful reminder of the realities of filmmaking and the importance of mental health.00:00:00 - Introduction00:00:10 - Acting vs Being00:03:13 - The Story of Angie and Stallone00:04:06 - Stallone's Infidelity00:04:45 - Stallone's Infamous Story00:05:58 - Daily Challenges on Set00:06:44 - Joel Silver's Visit00:09:28 - Post-Production and Release00:10:11 - Aftermath and Career Struggles00:12:30 - Personal Struggles and Recovery00:14:35 - ConclusionCheck out his other podcast:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-how-not-to-make-a-movie-podcast/id1616014436

Since the Italian Stallion first appeared on screen in 1976, Rocky Balboa's cinematic story has become a staple of pop culture, not just in America but around the world. The tropes from the film have been emulated and parodied many times over the years in other movies, TV shows, and media. It's well known for its theme music, training montage, and the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.Like all great sports movies, Rocky isn't really about the sport itself but about life. It's about people and how they relate to each other. After a successful sequel in 1979, it was no surprise that Stallone would once again wear his boxing shorts and gloves for this 80s sequel. However, this time, there are new challenges and opponents, both physical and emotional. So, step into the boxing ring, turn up Survivor's “Eye of the Tiger,” and get ready for a knockout episode as Tim Williams and guest co-hosts Chris Adams and JB Huffman discuss “Rocky III” from 1982 on this episode of the 80s Flick Flashback! Here are some additional behind-the-scenes trivia we were unable to cover in this episode:According to an interview with Mr. T, he attended the movie's premiere with his mother. During the scene where he yells lurid remarks at Adrian, his mother turned to him and said, "I did not raise you to talk to a lady like that." She then stormed out of the theater. To reclaim the title, Rocky pulls off a trick known as a rope-a-dope. This involves making the opponent believe he has the fight, teasing him to make the adrenaline pump and wearing him out so that you can easily go in and knock him down. The trick was used by Muhammad Ali against George Foreman in the famous Rumble in the Jungle fight.Sources:Wikipedia, IMDB, BoxOfficeMojohttps://www.reelworldtheology.com/rocky-revisited-showing-some-love-for-the-sequels/https://totalrocky.com/articles/r3/rocky-3-trivia/Some sections were composed by ChatGPTWe'd love to hear your thoughts on our podcast! Welcome to the DMF, I'm Justin Younts, and today I'm diving deep into the chaotic world of film production. Have you ever wondered what really goes on behind the scenes when casting a movie? Well, let me tell you, it can be a wild ride! From the moment we decided to shoot in Vancouver instead of Los Angeles, we were in for a whirlwind of challenges. The decision was made not because it was the best choice for the film, but rather to make a statement against the union. Spoiler alert: it backfired spectacularly! As we navigated through the casting process, we faced a series of ludicrous decisions that left us scratching our heads. Why did we choose Dennis Miller over Danny Baldwin? What was the reasoning behind casting Angie Everhart just because she was Stallone's girlfriend? These choices not only impacted the film's quality but also created a tense atmosphere on set. I'll share the behind-the-scenes drama, the struggles with character development, and the unexpected twists that made this project a true test of our professionalism. If you're an aspiring filmmaker or just curious about the film industry, you won't want to miss these insights. Join me as I reveal the secrets to avoiding casting catastrophes and how to navigate the tricky waters of film production. Trust me, you'll learn a lot from our mistakes! This week's VHS Strikes Back pick comes from Patreon supporter Timothy, and he's chosen Out for Justice from 1991. By this point, Steven Seagal had already punched and wrist-locked his way into Hollywood as the latest in a long line of action stars. Out for Justice was his fourth movie in just a few years, with Warner Bros. doubling down on his image as a ponytailed, tough-talking enforcer. Unlike the big, explosive blockbusters of Stallone or Schwarzenegger, Seagal's films leaned on a supposed “authentic” martial arts style — though whether that really translated to convincing screen action is up for debate. The film was directed by John Flynn, a respected filmmaker who had delivered solid crime thrillers like The Outfit and Best Seller. Flynn brought a gritty, street-level feel to the project, shooting largely on location in Brooklyn. Behind the scenes, however, reports suggest the production wasn't the easiest, with Seagal throwing his weight around and shaping both the story and the fight scenes to suit his ego. Despite mixed reviews, Out for Justice still turned a tidy profit at the box office — proof that in the early '90s, audiences were still willing to buy what Seagal was selling, even if the moves looked more like clumsy shoves than martial arts mastery. If you enjoy the show we have a Patreon, so become a supporter here.Referral links also help out the show if you were going to sign up:NordVPNNordPassTrailer Guy Plot SummaryBrooklyn, 1991. The streets are mean, the accents are thick, and justice… wears a ponytail. Steven Seagal is Gino Felino, a cop with a badge, a bad attitude, and a fighting style that looks suspiciously like pushing people through windows. When crime takes over his neighborhood, one man will grunt, squint, and wrist-lock his way to vengeance. He's not fast, he's not flashy… but he's got a leather jacket, and apparently that's enough. Steven Seagal is… Out for Justice.Fun FactsOut for Justice was Steven Seagal's fourth starring role, following Above the Law (1988), Hard to Kill (1990), and Marked for Death (1990).The film was directed by John Flynn, who also made Lock Up (1989) with Sylvester Stallone.Seagal's character, Gino Felino, was originally written with a more serious tone, but many critics felt Seagal's wooden delivery undercut the drama. The movie was shot in Brooklyn, New York, and made heavy use of authentic neighborhood locations.William Forsythe plays the villain Richie, and he reportedly gained weight for the role to emphasize his character's sleaziness.Despite being marketed as a martial arts showcase, Seagal uses very little traditional martial arts in Out for Justice — relying instead on Aikido wrist locks and throws. The film's tagline was: “He's a cop. It's a dirty job… but somebody's got to take out the garbage.”Critics often describe Out for Justice as one of Seagal's “grittier” early films, though many also call it one of his most unintentionally funny. The film opened at number one at the U.S. box office, grossing over $10 million in its opening weekend.Out for Justice has become something of a cult favorite for fans of “so-bad-it's-good” action cinema, especially among Steven Seagal skeptics.thevhsstrikesback@gmail.comhttps://linktr.ee/vhsstrikesback
This week on Forgotten Cinema, the Mikes rev up their trucks and get ready to arm wrestle with "Over the Top" (1987), Sylvester Stallone's unlikely mix of father-son drama and competitive arm wrestling. Both Mike Butler and Mike Field enjoy this one, even as they acknowledge the gaping plot holes and occasionally absurd storytelling. They break down why the father/son dynamic between Stallone's character and his son actually works, how the arm wrestling sequences mostly deliver, and why the film's tone somehow balances sincere melodrama with over-the-top (see what we did there?) sports action. And, Field makes the case for Bull Hurley; the massive arm wrestling rival, as one of the great, underrated 80s villains. So grab your trucker hat, turn it backward, and join us as we talk about a movie that's as heartfelt as it is ridiculous. What's your favorite '80s Stallone Movie (Not Rocky or Rambo)? Let us know in the comments below!
We're counting down the days until the publication of The Hallmarked Man! Nick Jeffery and John Granger take perhaps the last look at Rowling's most recent postings before they dive into discussion about the meaning and artistry of Strike8.In today's conversation, they review Rowling's relationship with Stephenie Meyer, the author of the Twilight series, a New York Times feature article ‘The Wizard's Everlasting Spell' about the growth of Potter fan fiction with a romantic twist, and Rowling's acerbic review of Nikola Sturgeon's memoir Frankly. Nick and John discuss along the way the initial response of cultural gatekeepers to the quality of the writing in Harry Potter, the history of Rowling's relationship with the writers of romantic fan fiction using her characters in light of Fifty Shades of Gray, and Hogwarts Professor's role in making ‘Rowling Studies' legitimate and the culture-wide acceptance of Rowling as a writer of merit “something we've always known” rather than a controversial assertion. And what does all that have to do with the imminent release of Hallmarked Man? Nick and John share their more-than-tentative plans for reading Strike8 and the best way — not the only way, of course, but a much better way than, say, cataloging predictions everyone will forget by mid-September — to prepare for our first reading of an epic Rowling-Galbraith title. We hope you are as excited as we are to the advent of Hallmarked Man and that you're looking forward to exploration of its breadth and depth beneath the surface plot with us in the coming month!Links To Subjects Discussed Above:The Wizard's Everlasting Spell Why Magic, Dragons and Explicit Sex Are in Bookstores Everywhere: Romantasy is propping up the fiction market. Thanks to a generation that grew up reading about a boy wizard. (The New York Times, 20 August 2025, Alexandra Alter)The new version of the [‘Dramione' Potter fan fiction] story that so captivated Ms. Stallone will soon be released as “Alchemised,” and the novel's publisher, Del Rey, is betting that the feverish devotion to its fanfiction predecessor will translate into blockbuster sales. Del Rey has ordered a first printing of 750,000 copies for the novel's release in late September; translations are lined up in 21 languages.Besides appealing to hordes of existing fans, “Alchemised” has another advantage: It taps into the raging appetite for romantasy, a subgenre that blends fantasy elements like magic, fairies and dragons with love, yearning and explicit sex.In a way, the romantasy explosion — driven by the success of blockbuster authors like Sarah J. Maas and Rebecca Yarros, whose series have sold millions upon millions of copies — stems from the legacy of popular young adult series like “Twilight” and “Harry Potter.” Those books molded generations of young readers who have grown up but still crave big fantasy novels — now with a dose of erotica.“They grew up with the characters, and the stories ended, but there's still such a huge appetite,” said Leah Hultenschmidt, publisher of the romance imprint Forever. “They're still hungry for that magical world building, an epic cast of characters and heroism, and maybe they just want it a little spicier.”Publishers are frantically searching for the next breakout romantasy series. Last year, romantasy sales topped more than 32 million copies in print alone, a 47 percent jump over the previous year, according to Circana Bookscan. Five of the 10 best-selling adult fiction titles this year are romantasies. At the same time, adult fiction sales overall have stagnated. The kind of romance that's selling like crazy now — erotically charged genre mash-ups — first took off in fanfiction before publishers recognized there was an appetite for it.“For a long time, you had to go to fanfiction to find that,” said Anne Jamison, a professor of English at the University of Utah who has studied fanfiction. “Romantasy basically is what fanfiction made.”* Alchemized Sen Lin Yu* ‘Romantasy' Novels on Amazon, Etc.The twilight of Nicola Sturgeon: J.K. For those who don't know (ie, everyone who wasn't a tween or teenage girl, or living with one, 2005-2015), Twilight was massively popular for roughly a decade, each new book or film being greeted adoringly by its devoted fans. I'd had the idea for that plot, the book within the book, for seven or eight years before I wrote it. That often happens with me, I have an idea and I keep it and sit on it. Hey buddy, let's listen to a podcast! This week it's all about buddy cop movies in Renegades (21:00) and Tango & Cash (47:38). We talk Stallone, Kurt Russell, Kiefer Sutherland and Lou Diamond Phillips, some insane stunts and even more insane sex scenes, and more importantly: BOOT GUNS
Original Release Date: Monday 25 August 2025 Description: This was not the show we expected to be bringing you this week, but all of a sudden, during their “side project” (“The Art Life” with friend of show Jon Lawlor), Dean started holding court about the current box office smash Superman. Suffice it to say, Dean had THOUGHTS! So, we bring you what ensued, a free-wheeling discussion not only of the James Gunn-directed blockbuster, but a discussion of DC comics' history, of the character's history, and of the lost art of behind-the-scenes documentary looks at the making of movies as promotional materials. Somehow, the conversation turns to Rob Zombie and his House of 1000 Corpses, to a “holy grail” of cinema for Phil that proved to be a guilty non-pleasure, Ashanti, and to Noah Hawley's new Alien: Earth television series. All that, plus the Stallone film Dean walked out of, the horrible movie Nic Cage's son starred in, why Iron Man turned out to be so good, the problem with reboots, and more!
In this episode of the Man of War Podcast, We sit down with Frank Stallone for a raw and powerful conversation about what it really means to survive in a world built on illusion. Frank shares the truth about growing up under the weight of the Stallone name, what it felt like to be pushed aside in the industry, and how betrayal shaped his view of loyalty and legacy. This is not a Hollywood story. It's a lesson in grit, manhood, and standing firm in your values when everyone around you folds. We talk about what it takes to stay grounded, why so many men lose themselves chasing recognition, and how to build something real that lasts. If you're a man navigating adversity, dealing with identity, or fighting to carve your own path, this conversation will hit home.
The fight in Vietnam isn't over. We still have to fight the spread of communism! We still have soliders in Nam! POW's that haven't given up hope on America! We have the right man for this job! Rambo is back in the jungle! As the good white Christian God ordered! Hopefully there isn't any Russians or some pencil pusher there to stop him! 3BlackGeeks will proudly talk about this war hero and why America is the best! …what do you mean this movie is 80's US Propaganda? Pfft! Someone hates Freedom is what I hear!
Fan favorite Garrett Smith returns to the podcast to talk about Sylvester Stallone, Sung Kang, and Jason Momoa in Walter Hill's Bullet to the Head! After talking about "hard" Stallone vs. "soft" Stallone, Garrett lends some much-needed Walter Hill-related context. We try to make sense of the tone of this movie and what it's trying to do, before asking: is Bullet to the Head funny? Is it racist? Is it the racism that's supposed to be funny? Is it actually anti-racist? We explore the not very New Orleans vibes, the near-total lack of surprise in plot and reveals, and whether or not masquerade parties actually look like this. 1985 was the year Sylvester Stallone went from Hollywood heavyweight to undisputed box office king. With Rocky IV on one side and Rambo: First Blood Part II on the other, he wasn't just riding the wave of 80s action; he was the wave. And while First Blood had been a surprisingly thoughtful thriller about trauma, alienation, and a veteran's struggle to reintegrate into society, its sequel shed all subtlety like a spent shell casing. What we got instead was a high-octane, Reagan-era fever dream of exploding arrows, shirtless jungle warfare, and a hero who could take down entire armies with little more than a knife, a bow, and a steely stare. Strap into your parachutr and prepare for our Rambo: First Blood Part II ReviewOn this week's Born to Watch, the boys dive into Stallone's red-bandanaed return to Vietnam. Whitey sets the scene: this isn't just a movie, it's the beginning of the "one-man war" subgenre that would dominate until Die Hard flipped the script in 1988. Damo admits he's barely watched it compared to the rest of the team, just four times, making him the weakest link in the Rambo chain, while Dan fondly recalls a childhood of VHS replays and backyard re-enactments, complete with shirtless flexing and imaginary M-60s.The episode kicks off with laughs about the film's working title, "Second Blood," which the team insists is far better than what we ended up with. From there, the conversation barrels through the film's unforgettable trailer, essentially a three-minute version of the movie that gives away every major set piece. But then again, in 1985, you weren't dissecting trailers on YouTube; you were catching glimpses of them before Back to the Future or in the lobby of Hoyts. As always, Colonel Trautman gets his share of love. Richard Crenna's grizzled commander was the heart of First Blood, but here the boys agree he's been badly sidelined, emasculated by slimy bureaucrats and robbed of his best lines. Whitey argues that Stallone intentionally clipped Trautman's wings to keep the spotlight on himself, before realising by Rambo III that the series needed more Crenna.Villains are in no short supply: Charles Napier's Murdoch oozes bureaucratic slime, Steven Berkoff delivers Cold War menace as a sneering Russian general (forehead mole and all), and Martin Kove, fresh off The Karate Kid, simmers in the background as a mercenary who doesn't get nearly enough to do. And then there's Julia Nickson as Co, whose accent is so gloriously bad it's become immortal. Her "What mean expendable?" line sends the boys into hysterics, though they're quick to admit she's stunning on screen and essential to Rambo's fleeting attempt at love. The set pieces get the full treatment too: Rambo parachuting into the jungle, the bamboo cage of leeches, the patrol boat ambush, and the climactic showdown with a hulking Russian gunship that feels like the final boss in a video game. Logic rarely applies, Rambo seems oddly immune to electrocution and, at one point, appears in what the boys can only describe as a "ceremonial Vietnamese G-string", but that's half the fun. Unlike Cobra, which the podcast tore apart in a recent episode, First Blood Part II manages to be outrageous without ever becoming dull. The team also dives into the film's legacy. Box office juggernaut? Absolutely, $300 million worldwide on a $44 million budget. Awards darling? Not quite. While it picked up an Oscar nomination for sound editing, it swept the Razzies, winning for Worst Picture, Worst Actor, and even Worst Original Song. That song, Peace in Our Life, penned by Frank Stallone, gets roasted at length—described as "mesmerisingly bad" and “patriotic cheese that makes Bon Jovi sound poetic.”But for all its flaws, there's an undeniable joy in watching Rambo: First Blood Part II. Whitey compares it to the Avengers: Endgame of 1985, pure crowd-pleasing cinema where audiences would've cheered out loud when Rambo vaporised a guard with an explosive arrow. The film may be ridiculous, but it's never boring. As always, there are detours into Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (unanimously despised), A View to a Kill (fondly remembered for Roger Moore inventing snowboarding to the Beach Boys), and Corey Haim's werewolf flick Silver Bullet. There's also a spirited listener voicemail from loyal fan Chupperz, who demands a proper definition of "cameo" for Film School for FW, and a reminder that even when the team is tearing something apart, it's always done with affection.By the time they hit The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, the verdict is clear: Stallone's hair deserves its own credit, Trautman deserves better, and Rambo: First Blood Part II is the kind of dumb, overblown, endlessly rewatchable 80s action that Born to Watch was made for.So if you love muscle-bound mayhem, Cold War villains, or just want to hear a bunch of Aussie legends laugh, argue, and celebrate a truly explosive piece of cinema history, this is the episode for you.JOIN THE CONVERSATIONIs Rambo: First Blood Part II a misunderstood classic or just overblown propaganda? Would you rather ride shotgun in the gunship or sneak through the jungle with the bow and arrow? Does this sequel outshine First Blood, or did Stallone lose something when subtlety gave way to spectacle? Today's Headlines: Trump turned what should've been a straightforward Kennedy Center honoree reveal — shoutout to Sylvester Stallone, Gloria Gaynor, KISS, and Michael Crawford — into another marathon rant. He floated extending National Guard deployments in DC, promised to clear homeless encampments without saying where people will go, and unveiled a pricey 600-troop “Domestic Civil Disturbance Quick Reaction Force” for nationwide protest crackdowns. Down in Texas, Republicans rammed through a gerrymandered congressional map after Trump demanded a special session, while Democrats are still hiding out of state. On the foreign front, Trump is gearing up for his Putin meet-and-greet at an Anchorage military base, warning of “severe consequences” if there's no Ukraine ceasefire. Norway is blaming Russian hackers for sabotaging a dam in April. Trump also nominated former Fox News face Tammy Bruce as deputy ambassador to the UN — even though both the deputy and main gig are currently empty. Oh, and Mexico just extradited 26 alleged cartel bosses after Trump's tariff threats, with the DOJ promising no death penalties. Couch Potato Theater: Cobra (1986) - 1980's Cannon Films Retrospective Watch: Fandom Podcast Network YouTube Channel Link: https://www.youtube.com/@FandomPodcastNetwork Listen: Couch Potato Theater Audio Podcast Link: https://fpnet.podbean.com/category/couch-potato-theater Welcome to Couch Potato Theater, where we celebrate our favorite movies on the Fandom Podcast Network! This year we're celebrating 1980's Cannon action films with a retrospective on how important these movies were to our fandom then, and the nostalgic grasp they still have on us today. On this episode we discuss Sylvester Stallone as Lt. Marion "Cobra" Cobretti in the Cult Classic movie, Cobra (1986). Cobra is a 1986 American action film directed by George P. Cosmatos and written by Sylvester Stallone, who stars in the titular role. The film, loosely based on the 1974 novel A Running Duck by Paula Gosling (later published as Fair Game and filmed under that title in 1995), co-stars Reni Santoni, Brigitte Nielsen and Andrew Robinson. The script was largely inspired by Stallone's original script for Beverly Hills Cop (1984). Cobra was released to generally negative reviews with criticism on its excessive violence and overuse of genre tropes, but it was a box office success and also has since been considered as a cult classic. Plot Synopsis: Criticized for his brutal and unconventional ways, hard-as-nails Lieutenant Cobra is the tip of the spear of LAPD's elite Zombie Squad. But crime runs rampant in the city. As a string of seemingly unconnected assaults on civilians drags the hardened officer into a violent war with the psychopaths of The New World, an underground cult aiming to weed out the weak, Cobra must escort key witness Ingrid to a safe house. However, the Night Slasher and the movement's delusional killers will stop at nothing to track her down. Now, there is no turning back--only one man stands in the way of the disease. Cobra is the cure! We will also discuss the films 1980's Cannon Films Famous Producers, Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus. We also mention the documentaries about them, Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films (2014), and The Go-Go Boys: The Inside Story of Cannon Films (2014). Sylvester Stallone's been in the ring for a lot of rounds. Even though he, a few years ago, hit the big 6-0 birthday, he was still doing Rocky - Rocky 6. It was called, "Rocky's final round." Sylvester Stallone is one of the millions of Baby Boomers who have hit a challenge for which some have not been prepared - aging. I was intrigued with what Stallone had to say about people he knows. He said, "You see billionaires who have everything, yet inside they're still the same lonely, insecure people." You think you've got it all figured out, but when you turn 60 or, you know, whatever age seems to make you feel like you're getting older, there's this little hole inside you. You realize you're always going to be somewhat half full...or are we. I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "Why We Can't Find Peace." I call the cycle so many of us go through in our life journey the "As Soon As" syndrome. I'll be happy, I'll be fulfilled as soon as I graduate, as soon as I get a good job, as soon as I get a better job, as soon as I'm going with someone, as soon as I'm married, as soon as I have kids, as soon as I'm not married, as soon as I can get a home, as soon as I retire; it just never ends. And "as soon as" never comes. It's one disappointing answer after another. Until, like Rocky's creator says, we just give up and accept "this little hole inside" us as being "unfillable." The ancient Jewish king Solomon knew that feeling. He was so wealthy and so powerful he was able to own or experience every "as soon as" that his heart could conceive: every purchase, every woman, every achievement, every pleasure. Here's his conclusion, recorded in his personal diary, the Book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible. I'm reading from chapter 1, beginning with verse 8, our word for today from the Word of God. He says: "The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing. What has been will be again, and what has been done will be done again. There is nothing new under the sun. I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind." Pretty sad, huh? And pretty much the human experience. But Solomon went on to diagnose why nothing and no one on earth can ever fill the hole in our heart. He said, "God has set eternity in the hearts of men. Remember your Creator in the days of your youth. Fear God and keep His commandments" (Ecclesiastes 3:11; 12:1, 13). What we've been looking for all our life is something that will last forever, because we've got this eternity thing in our heart. The hole in your heart can only be filled by something as big as all eternity. And that means only the God who made you can fill it. Not a religion about God, but God Himself, living in your heart. And that's impossible because of the choice we've made over and over again to do our life our way instead of God's way. God calls it sin and He says that our sins "have separated us" from our God. But He's also acted with unspeakable love to demolish this wall that keeps us from Him. And He says in His own words, "He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins" (1 John 4:10). Translation: I did the sinning; Jesus did the dying. Then three days later, He came back from His grave to prove that He and He alone can give us life that's eternal. For millions, the search for what goes in that hole in our heart has ended at the cross of Jesus Christ. In a transforming moment when you say to Him, "Jesus, the wrong person's been running my life. I resign. I'm holding onto You as my only hope because only You can remove the wall between me and my God. So, Jesus, I'm Yours." If you've never had that liberating, load-lifting, purpose-filling, hole-in-your-heart-filling experience with Jesus, let this be the day. In fact, if you go to our website you can find there a lot of wonderful information to be sure you belong to Him. It's ANewStory.com That hole inside you is so big only God can fill it. And at your invitation, He will - today.

Nothing says Tori Spelling like Rocky IV, The Punisher, Universal Soldier, and Masters of the Universe, but she LOVES Dolph Lundgren and he is here for a surprisingly heartfelt chat about fame, fatherhood, and why tough guys like him always end up with daughters (a.k.a. the “fighter’s curse”). He spills behind-the-scenes sTORIes from Rocky IV, dishes on his wild days with Grace Jones, and that one time he crossed paths with Andy Warhol. Plus, Dolph talks about launching his own vodka brand, insuring his biceps, and TORI goes where no conversation has gone before … IKEA Swedish meatballs. Come for the nostalgia, stay for the Stallone impression. And, see Tori try to BREAK this He-Man {PS… think she warmed his heart!}See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
