This Session features two wise women, Ashley Kingsley and Aliza Sherman, founders of Ellementa, the first global cannabis wellness network for women. They talk cannabis shop, the tech boom and how their shared experience of miscarriage planted the seed for a relationship that would eventually blossom into a shared goal of connecting women through cannabis. What we, as humans, need to be healthy and happy changes throughout the many stages of life. Addressing diversity among women happens to be what makes Ellementa successful at building a community of women over 30, using cannabis for their health and wellness. Both pioneers of the early tech industry, Ashley and Aliza discuss the similarities between the tech boom and the cannabis renaissance, and how they used their experience in one developing industry and applied to the other. The use of cannabis is still a stigma deeply entrenched in our culture so much so that many women continue to consume in private. While tides are changing, it takes more than a few insta-influencers to reverse the damage caused by prohibition. It takes a community, a shoulder to lean on, a group of like-minded individuals who stand together united as cannabis consumers. The Her(b) Life Sessions podcast is committed to broadening the cannabis conversation by highlighting the women working in the industry. Do you want to know how a former pole vaulter uses cannabis for strength training? Or how cannabis can help with post workout recovery? Tune in to this weeks Sessions episode featuring Bethany Rae of Flower & Freedom and Lane Britnell, Victoria based cannabis strength and fitness coach, as they discuss workouts, dosing, and the myriad of ways cannabis can supplement your fitness routine. The tides are changing and if you’re curious about cannabis for health and wellbeing you’re not alone! While many people have heard that weed can help with energy, mental stamina, mood, appetite, pain, inflammation and more, it’s still a topic clouded by misinformation. How much do you use? Which strains? What types of products? These are some of the questions answered in this session. When used correctly, cannabis can indeed be a tool that helps aid in motivation, recovery for injury and in some cases, overcome the hurdles that would otherwise render you incapable of training.Yet, it should be said that because cannabis is such a complex plant that affects us all differently, striking a balance can take some experimentation. Start off with hearing from two people who have made it their mission to educate about the nuance of cannabis and fitness.Sessions is sponsored by Sonoma Seeds, premium cannabis seeds from around the world and Hemper the number one subscription box for cannabis accessories. Hello Listener, Did you know that the power of smiling is real? You can smile yourself happy, The University of Kansas found that smiling reduced tension and helped the body manage stress reactions. This study links smiling to lower blood pressure and the University of Cardiff in Wales did a study on the effects of Botox and how the paralysis of the frown muscles can actually make people happier overall. This isn’t an episode about cosmetic injections though. Today Mika wants to encourage you to smile, to hug yourself and to celebrate your successes, however small. So go ahead and smile, acknowledge your wins. Our strain pairing is called TGIF and comes from Xscape and boasts a THC level of 16-24%. This sativa dominant strain is not known to cause drowsiness but as usual, if are considering using cannabis as a medical treatment we advise you first consult a physician.Xscape selections can be found at Fire & Flower stores.Follow Mika on Instagram at @cannabislovesus or The Her(B) Life at @the_herblife for news and updates. Hello Listener,In this episode we want to focus on self deprecation AKA shit talking yourself. It’s easy for us to focus on the negative, rather than the positive. Why is that? Why do we do that to ourselves? The beast of self deprecation can make us feel small and anxious but what we really need is love and comfort. It’s ok to not be perfect. It’s ok to fail. We are more than a single moment in our lives. We need to learn to forgive ourselves for the past.Today’s strain pairing is Luna (AKA Banana Split) from Aurora and can be found at most Fire & Flower locations. We choose this strain because it is a sativa dominant cross that comes in at under 15% THC. Sometimes too much THC can lead to anxiety and anxiety can lead to feeling powerless and down on yourself - which is exactly what today’s meditation is trying to avoid. We particularly like this strain for long days when we need to be productive and level headed. Banana Split provides just the right amount of warm fuzzy with a dash of calm.Follow Mika on Instagram at @cannabislovesus or The Her(B) Life at @the_herblife for news and updates.
