Viral comedian and school custodian Jimmy Cash joins Dopey to tell a funny, painful, and unmistakably Dopey recovery story. Jimmy grew up in Worcester, Massachusetts, surrounded by addiction and Alcoholics Anonymous. His father—a high-school janitor—died from an overdose when Jimmy was nine, while his mother cycled through addiction, recovery, and relationships with other janitors. After watching The Basketball Diaries as a child, Jimmy became obsessed with getting high before he had even tried a real drug. By his teens, Jimmy was smoking weed, drinking, taking psychedelics, using cocaine and ketamine, getting arrested, and fighting with police. He recalls punching a cop who was kindly driving him home, attacking the weak knee of a college RA—or at least being accused of it—and causing a coked-out disaster at an IHOP that ended with him breaking the handle off a police car and being beaten in custody. Court-ordered AA eventually became genuine recovery. Jimmy got sober in 2003, built a family, became a custodian, and pursued his lifelong dream of stand-up comedy. His janitor videos went viral, leading to national attention and an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. But after more than 20 years without drinking or using, divorce, career pressure, grief, isolation, and insomnia left Jimmy sleeping on his younger sister's couch. He began “nibbling” cannabis edibles, quickly recognized that he was getting high, and made the humbling decision to return to AA and pick up a new 24-hour chip. Plus: a listener steals a car and escapes police through a freezing pond, questions about the experimental opioid compound SR-17018, a precipitated-withdrawal horror story, spicy reactions to the Roy Donk episode, drugged dogs, dead parrots, Phish fans, and DopeyCon business. All that and more on this weeks new MASS edition of Dopey! Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
Send us Fan MailYour edible math looks clean on paper, then the real world shows up: ovens run hot, flower potency is a guess, and your infusion method does not behave the way you expected. We sit down for a long-awaited listener Q&A and get practical about the stuff that actually changes your results, especially if you care about consistent cannabis edible dosing at home.I walk through my own decarb experiment frustrations and why comparing decarbed vs non-decarbed oil is tougher than it sounds without the right testing setup or lab access. We talk about how tools like a T-Check and a dosage calculator can guide you, but also where they can mislead if you forget about decarb efficiency and extraction efficiency. If you've ever seen a huge number pop out of a calculator and thought, “No way,” you're not alone. You'll also get clear guidance on stovetop infusions, including the jar-in-water-bath question that trips up so many home cooks: the water should hold a gentle simmer, not the oil inside the jar. From there we answer listener questions on mixing sugar leaf trim with AVB (already vaped bud), using a cheap slow cooker, and picking an all-purpose plant-to-oil ratio that works for both edibles and topicals. Finally, we dig into gear choices (MagicalButter Machine vs Levo vs Ardent FX), why hemp oil infusions are rare, and a few honest lessons on building something that lasts, from weekly consistency to owning your website instead of relying on platforms you do not control. If you enjoy craft cannabis, DIY edibles, and real-world kitchen methods, subscribe, share this with a friend who's dosing blind, and leave a review so more people can find the show. The map you need to start making great edibles in easy, digestible lessons. It's time for another Listener Mail episode, and this week the High on Home Grown community has sent in another brilliant mix of growing questions, cannabis myths, and a few completely random discussions that only Listener Mail can deliver! We begin by helping a listener who's planning a brand-new grow room after moving house. We discuss the pros and cons of building a secure enclosure inside a garage, how to make it as smell-proof as possible, and the key things to consider when growing safely with young children around. We also dive into the best methods for long-term cannabis storage, including whether vacuum sealing is a good option and how to preserve your harvest for months, or even years. The panel also tackles a common harvest question: can you dry your cannabis in the same tent you grew it in by simply turning off the lights? We discuss the ideal drying conditions, what to watch out for, and how to get the best possible cure. We also bust an old cannabis myth by asking whether Miracle-Gro really "sucks the THC" out of your plants, separating internet folklore from reality. Of course, it wouldn't be Listener Mail without a few lighter moments. We compare cannabutter vs cannabis oil for making edibles, answer a couple of wonderfully ridiculous philosophical questions, and even try to make sense of one of Dave's mysterious text messages. As always, it's another relaxed episode packed with practical growing advice, cannabis knowledge, community questions, and plenty of laughs along the way.
The future of THC drinks and edibles remains in limbo. A federal law passed last year doesn't outright ban them, but it sets such strict THC limits that most of the products you see in stores today would effectively become illegal later this year. Lawmakers and the industry have been trying to find a compromise, and a new bill is being circulated that could bring the drama to an end. Joe Gerrity, CEO of Crescent Canna, joins Scoot to talk about it.
Summer is here - we enter the long days and sultry nights with the garden looking glorious - but always looking to the horizon for a little bit of rain to keep things looking green and lush. Herbaceous borders are set to maximum colour, vegetable beds seem to multiply in growth weekly and the gardener's tan is ever present. So enjoy the long summer days, take some time to appreciate time in your garden and join the Talking Heads pair as they continue to look after their planty spaces, as well as enjoying their gardens at home. It's been yet another week of dry weather, and with no end in sight the gardening duo ponder what this might mean for the survival of certain insect species - friend and foe. Saul also reports back on his travels, and some exciting news for Plant Heritage, while Lucy turns her (tired) brain towards the Gardeners' World Autumn Fair at Audley End, Essex. WBS: California Fun #371 -- The gang is at it again. Brimstone is joined by his wing-man Alex DaPonte and his wife Danielle as they chat about people using cook wear after someone else used it to make edibles, the sushi challenge with Raina is Crazy, and lots of memories. They chat about the three dozen beluga whales that were saved from Marineland in Canada, why Taco Bell is not responsible for doo-doo lettuce, but Taylor Farms is. They discuss the humanoid robot that is starting to work in upstate New York this September, the elephant who was shot by a hunter, and then the elephant fell on the hunter and killed him too. Brim explains what gets Within Brim's Skin.
Intro and Catch Up Keith and Jill discussed their experiences selling newspapers, with Jill mentioning seeing the musical Newsies and Keith recalling the newspaper pricing structure from his youth. The conversation concluded with Keith mentioning his recent appearance on another podcast with Nathan Caldwell from Quest for Truth. The group discussed Keith’s experience hosting Isaac for a week, noting challenges with the teenager’s sleeping habits and behavior, particularly regarding excessive milk purchases and poor hygiene. Keith observed that having Isaac sleep upstairs rather than on the couch made a significant difference in the level of disruption. The conversation then shifted to technical issues Terry was experiencing with his sensor and phone, which were eventually resolved with help from someone nearby. News of the Week Heroic nurse: Keith shared a story about Kaylene Reed, his future daughter-in-law, who is a nurse who helped save a woman having a heart attack in a restaurant by performing chest compressions until EMTs arrived. Trombone Record: Jill then discussed a world record attempt in Australia where 600+ musicians played trombones to break the previous record of 368 held in Washington D.C. Tragic Mistake Turned Miracle: Keith concluded by sharing a tragic story about a toddler in Arizona who was incorrectly declared dead after drowning in a pool, only to be found alive hours later in the morgue. High Altitude Edibles: Terry shared a story about a black lab named Tokyo that got sick after hiking on Scotland’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis. The dog showed strange symptoms and slipped in and out of consciousness, leading to a mountain rescue mission where veterinarians discovered the dog had ingested marijuana, likely through an edible or cannabis plant along the trail. Blue Angels Wind Gust: Jill then told a story about chaos erupting on a Florida beach when the Blue Angels flew low over Pensacola Beach, causing hats, chairs, and tents to fly through the wind gusts; an investigation has been opened into the incident. Nectarine Rights Battle: Keith shared a story about a California farmer giving away free nectarines because a rival company claimed exclusive rights to the white nectarine variety he grows, preventing him from selling them. The farmer is now facing legal action for infringing on the company’s rights, though he argues he’s not making money from the giveaway. Handstand Record and Kitten Litter: Terry then shared several unusual Guinness World Records involving handstands and walking on hands, including a Nepalese athlete’s achievements, before concluding with a story about a pregnant cat in Oklahoma that gave birth to kittens and a rabbit. Jill's Weird Words Jill led a session discussing unusual words, including exiguity (scantiness), ennui (boredom), solatium (compensation/award), petrichor (smell after rain), and others. Keith and Terry participated by offering humorous definitions and comments throughout the session. Jill noted that one word’s definition seemed unclear, and Keith suggested that some of the provided definitions might not make logical sense. Terry's Top 10 List Terry shared a humorous top 10 list about blind children’s interactions on the playground, which included topics like guessing who ran by, debating sandbox colors, and discussing imaginary ice cream flavors. Anchor Topic The group then discussed airport travel experiences for blind individuals, with Keith and Jill sharing their perspectives on using wheelchairs for transportation and navigating airport facilities. The conversation included details about luggage handling, bathroom facilities on airplanes, and the overall process of traveling by air as a blind person, with both participants noting that airport staff are generally helpful in guiding travelers through the process. Email and Final Thoughts Keith shared several humorous stories and jokes during the podcast, including a tale about a golf player who received a transplanted arm and a story about a dog that kept napping at someone’s house. He also shared a voicemail about someone who slices cheese at a deli. Just don't share his secret identity. There was also a voicemail about a man who met the perfect woman. The team also exchanged funny one-liners and jokes throughout the show. At the end, Keith reminded listeners to tell friends about the podcast and visit their website at thatsoundsfunny.com, signing off until the next week. Send us Fan MailYou can make the most loving thing in your kitchen with a pound of butter, a bag of weed and a little responsibility. I've been thinking a lot about what it means to cook cannabis for someone else: a parent dealing with a diagnosis, a partner in the middle of a hard medical stretch, a friend with chronic pain, or anyone who overwhelmed by life right now. That's mutual aid, and cannabis edibles can be part of real community care when we take dosing and safety seriously. We start with the part you should never skip: the conversation. From there, I cover gentle, doable options like infused overnight oats, infused golden milk, infused chicken soup or bone broth, and cannabis-infused honey you can label by the teaspoon. We also talk about THCA and why suppositories and topicals belong in the mutual aid toolkit. If you want to make edibles that actually help, this is your roadmap: do the math, go lower than you think, label everything, and check in after. Send us Fan MailThe fastest way to ruin a good edible is to treat it like a mystery. One night you “feel nothing,” take another piece, and regret it later. Another night you take a normal dose and the couch eats your entire plan. That roller coaster is not a character flaw, it's the slow feedback loop of cannabis edibles: digestion, liver metabolism, and a long delay between what you ate and what you feel.We walk through what tracking your doses actually teaches you, and why a simple edibles journal can replace guesswork with real confidence. I break down the few data points that matter on the making side (your cannabis, estimated THC/CBD potency, decarboxylation, infusion notes, dose per serving) and on the consuming side (time, dose, what you ate, stress, sleep, onset time, intensity, duration). When those notes stack up over weeks, patterns pop out: the empty stomach trap, your personal onset window, and the surprising way exhaustion or stress can make a familiar dose feel heavier. We also talk tools without gatekeeping: a plain notebook, a dedicated edibles journal, phone notes, cannabis tracking apps, or even spreadsheets if you love them. The system matters more than the format, so I share practical habit tips like tracking immediately, keeping your tool where the edibles live, accepting incomplete notes, and doing a monthly review to spot trends. If you want more predictable THC edibles, less overdoing it, and a clearer sense of what actually works in your body, hit play. Subscribe, share this with an edibles-loving friend, and leave a review so more people can dose smarter.Support the show Visit the website for full show notes, free dosing calculator, quiz, recipes and more.

In this week's Grow Guides, we discuss one of the most common reasons people turn to medical cannabis, pain relief. We break down the different types of pain people use cannabis for, including chronic pain, inflammation, nerve pain, and muscle discomfort, and talk about how cannabinoids and terpenes may play a role in managing symptoms. We also cover different consumption methods, from inhalation to edibles and oils, explaining how onset time, duration, and intensity can vary depending on how cannabis is used. We discuss strain selection, cannabinoid balance, dosing considerations, and why finding the right approach is often a personal process of trial and adjustment. As always, we keep the conversation practical and grounded, focusing on harm reduction, realistic expectations, and helping listeners better understand how cannabis may fit into a pain management routine. A thoughtful episode aimed at anyone curious about using cannabis more intentionally for comfort, recovery, and quality of life.
Send us Fan MailMost cannabis edibles are engineered around a number on a label, not the experience in your mouth. That's why this conversation with Chef Julian Rose hits so hard: he's a master chocolatier and master pastry chef who now serves as Director of Research at INSA in Massachusetts, and he refuses to treat infused chocolate and cannabis gummies like an afterthought. From savory edibles to terpene-driven flavor pairing, we talk about why unfamiliar combinations can scare buyers, how full spectrum oil versus distillate changes both taste and effect, and why regulations can quietly force worse ingredients. We also pull apart fast-acting edibles, including what's pure marketing, what can turn bitter, and what might truly improve onset through emulsions, oil and fat carriers, and better dispersion.Subscribe for more smart edible talk and share this with a friend who only buys by milligrams.Support the show Visit the website for full show notes, free dosing calculator, quiz, recipes and more.
In this weeks show we look at the following stories: Macky: Trump administration reclassifies cannabis as less dangerous - BBC News Smee: Glasgow influencer jailed for smuggling £150,000 of cannabis - BBC News Dr.Margaret: Study: NY cannabis packaging law did not reduce child ingestions Billy: Cannabis Industry Council Releases Global Guide for Patients Travelling with Medical Cannabis We take a look at the big news coming out of the USA as the Trump admin may have finally rescheduled cannabis, but there is still more before we can finally say it is officially rescheduled. A Glasgow influencer has been jailed for smuggling cannabis into the UK via Thailand, apparently because she was forced to by her ex boyfriend. Kids are eating more edibles regardless of the packaging warning the edibles come in according to a recent study! And we also have some official guidance for people travelling with medical cannabis. Lots of good stories and of course plenty of banter too. I hope you enjoy the episode. If you have any stories you would like us to cover on next weeks show, feel free to get in touch on any of your favourite networks! Thanks as always for listening, I hope you enjoy the show

You'll hear quick ground rules that keep everything safe and predictable, including the one big assumption (you already have infused oil, cannabutter, or infused honey on hand) and why dosing is always personal. We also get into practical absorption basics, since pairing THC with fat can make a noticeable difference in how an edible feels. Then we run through the five fast wins. If you've ever wanted affordable, customizable cannabis edibles that fit real life, this is your shortcut.Try one recipe this week, then come tell me how it went. What's in your pantry? You can learn a lot about someone by how they handle an edible, especially the part nobody talks about: the wait. That long, information-free stretch between “I took it” and “oh, there it is” turns into a mirror for how we deal with uncertainty, control, and the urge to fix discomfort fast. We walk through five edibles personality types plus a bonus outlier, and you will recognize yourself or your friends immediately. There's the Scientist who tracks dosage and onset like a lab study, the YOLO who treats milligrams as a vibe and pays for it around hour two, and the Anxious Waiter who starts responsible then spirals into research and stacks “just a little more.” We also meet the Social Sharer who turns cannabis edibles into a communal love language, the Sophisticated Microdoser who uses 2.5 to 5 mg as a wellness and creativity tool, and the Forgetter who finds gummies in a coat pocket six months later and makes chaos with confidence. Which type you are? Take the quiz to find out!Support the show Visit the website for full show notes, free dosing calculator, quiz, recipes and more.
Edibles? Smoking? Vaping? Today's cannabis is way more potent than it was a generation ago. And more people – including adolescents and teens – are using cannabis than alcohol. Why does this matter? Cannabis today carries greater risks of dependency, as well as problems with mood, sleep, thinking, and even psychosis.Should you cut back? Or stop altogether? This hour, Ian Hoch calls out the continuing pattern of politicians with access to private information always seeming to get it right and beat everyone to the punch in the stock market. Then, Joe Gerrity, CEO of Crescent Canna, joins the show to talk about the potential future of THC drinks and edibles.
Imagine you're a veteran delivery driver for Edible Arrangements, having spent a decade delivering "I'm Sorry" fruit bouquets…getting home smelling like fresh pineapples and chocolate. But suddenly, the corporate strategy had taken a turn for the high-minded. You get an email stating, “we aren't just in the fruit business anymore; we're in the vibes business." What the heck does that even mean? But after delivering their new curated product selection from Edibles.com, realization hits that there's a whole new meaning to the company's marketing tagline “there's an edible for that.” In all honesty, this must be one of the wildest strategic pivots ever!
This week, Jon Spadafora, CEO of Flower Union Brands, joins the Cannabis Equipment News podcast to discuss efforts to find a larger edible audience, successes following last year's launch in New Jersey, and a mysterious and exciting new launch in a third market that remains unannounced but "very, very easy to get to from New Jersey."Spadafora also discusses how Flower Union uses Azuca's fast-acting technology to create more consistent edibles. Flower Union is currently in an R&D phase, prepping for a launch into the beverage market. Finally, Spadafora discusses his expectations for MJ Unpacked, an upcoming B2B cannabis conference held May 5-7 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Brandon and Jesse talk concentrates, edible tolerance, and what happens when you take 250mg of Apple Fritter before watching a movie that definitely is not that funny… until it is. They break down how different consumption methods actually feel in real time, from “behind the eyes” pressure to full-body giggles. But then the conversation shifts. They get into cannabis history, why Napoleon reportedly banned his army from smoking in Egypt, and how weed doesn't exactly inspire battlefield aggression. From there, it turns into a bigger conversation about the scientific method, celebrity scientists, and why real innovation usually comes from the quiet builders nobody talks about. The back half of the episode moves into something deeper. Handwritten letters. Navy memories. Physical mail. Human connection. The idea of Cannabis School pen pals. Why writing something down might be one of the most honest ways to say what you actually feel.It is classic Sesh energy. Funny, unfiltered, reflective, and unexpectedly thoughtful. In this episode we talk about:• Dabbing vs flower and how concentrates hit differently• Taking 250mg of edibles and what that experience actually feels like• Purple Platinum Jager and Apple Fritter effects• Cannabis in world history and Napoleon's Egypt campaign• Why weed does not exactly make you want to fight• The scientific method and celebrity culture• Handwritten letters and deeper human connection• The idea of Cannabis School pen palsThis episode is less about being right and more about being real. What does growth actually look like inside today's liquor stores — and where is it no longer coming from?In this episode of Business of Drinks, Jon Halper, CEO and owner of Top Ten Liquors, offers a rare operator-level view into how consumer behavior is evolving across wine, spirits, beer, non-alcoholic, and THC-adjacent categories — and what those shifts mean for brands trying to win at retail.Top Ten Liquors operates 15 stores across Minnesota and generates more than $50 million in annual sales, giving Jon a front-row seat to category change at real scale. From that vantage point, he challenges a core industry assumption: That consumers shop by category. Instead, Jon sees shoppers choosing based on occasion, mood, and desired effect — and flexing between alcohol, lower-alcohol, non-alcoholic, or THC products depending on the moment. For traditional alcohol brands, Jon explains why growth is no longer reliably driven by classic trade-up behavior. Premiumization still exists, but it's uneven and episodic, while frequency and basket size are under pressure. He discusses how GLP-1 drugs are already influencing drinking behavior — particularly among higher-income, health-conscious consumers — reducing consumption occasions rather than eliminating them outright. That shift toward intentional consumption is showing up across emerging categories as well. Jon shares how format and function are becoming critical growth levers, whether that's single-serve spirits, lower-dose options, or non-alcoholic products that fit specific occasions rather than trying to replace alcohol entirely.Within THC, he offers a concrete example of how this plays out at retail: Edibles now account for nearly 25% of Top Ten's THC sales, while beverage remains the primary entry point. Importantly, he frames this not as category cannibalization, but as incremental behavior driven by use case — a pattern brands across all drinks categories should be paying attention to.For brands, distributors, and investors, Jon outlines what retail partners now expect: Smarter assortments over more SKUs, depth in fewer markets, and execution that reflects how consumers actually shop today. He also frames alcohol as a cyclical category in a slower phase, arguing that the companies who adapt during this period will be best positioned when growth returns, potentially post-2026.If you want a grounded, data-backed view of how adult beverage growth is actually being built — and constrained — at the point of sale, this episode delivers. For the latest updates, follow us:Business of Drinks:YouTubeLinkedInInstagram @bizofdrinksErica Duecy, co-host: Erica Duecy is founder and co-host of Business of Drinks and one of the drinks industry's most accomplished digital and content strategists. Chris Distefano breaks down the infamous edibles incident with Opie at the New York Islanders game. Also in studio Doug Benson and Vic Henley 4/4
Opie kicks off the early-morning stream with wet hair and zero filter alongside Ron the Waiter. They torch NYC's mayoral circus — Zohran “Mom Donnie” Mamdani's $30/hr minimum wage fantasy, Cuomo's comeback creep, and Curtis Sliwa's leaky-eyed cat rants. Ron breaks down why you always tip in cash (spoiler: credit cards rob you blind), while Opie relives stealing porn mags and sprinting for freedom. From hurricane-crushed Jamaica to air traffic controllers delivering Chipotle, plus THC Doritos, Jewish vampires, and Trump's Epstein panic — it's unhinged, unapologetic, and 100% Opie Radio.
