We're back with another episode of After the Snow with Dave & Rick! This week's Snowfall Episode 8 of Season 2, entitled “Surrender,” spawns a conversation about the moment when crack rock was having a long lasting impact on those addicted to it. It wasn't an overnight realizationas many of us would believe, but rather a gradual one… somewhere around 4 years after it first hit the streets. According to Rick, even then it wasn't a common occurrence as many were still “functional” and others were involved for the hustle as opposed to the high. It seems like somewhere along the way this distinction got lost. We see just how lost things really are as we look at where Franklin and crew are in their divide for what's most important, loyalty or business? Lucia & Gustavo get hemmed up but search for a way out, and Teddy is trying to find his footing. Join us in this week's episode. In this solo episode I talk all about what it looks like to be in the middle of whether to have kids or not. This is a topic that clearly doesn't get a lot of notice. Alas, there are many women who sit in the middle with me. Wondering why this is? I'll give you a hint: It's more to do with finding love than anything else. I get into all things kids, why I do or don't want them, why that is, and what the future looks like for deciding yes or no. Jackie has launched her new wellness website Love You Even More! If I take a look at your slide deck or presentation outline and I can't tell that the content is yours (vs. another speaker on your topic), you're in danger of being a commodity speaker. Commodity speakers are undifferentiated and interchangeable. This means that, as a commodity speaker, it will be harder for you to attract higher-profile speaking engagements, raise your speaking fees, and generate quality leads at your presentations. As more conferences, groups, and associations are returning to in-person events, they need speakers who can deliver engaging content and present ideas that get them to think differently, not speakers who share the same-old stuff their audiences have heard on countless trainings over the past few years. As a thought leader, you will have a much bigger impact on your audiences and your speaking will be an effective marketing channel and revenue stream in your business. How do you know if you're in the commodity speaker category? What can you do to position yourself as a thought leader? Listen in! In this episode, you'll learn: The moment I recognized I was a commodity speaker and what that had cost me The changes I made, the results I got, and what I learned that surprised me 3 key elements you need to go from commodity speaker to thought leader What's getting in your way from making this shift, including some tough love about all the time and energy you're spending on social media 3 things you can do now to start making this shift to thought leadership Examples of how our Thought Leader Academy clients have shifted from commodity speakers to thought leaders Join our Thought Leader Academy to develop your speaking skills and create your signature talk: https://www.speakingyourbrand.com/academy/ This is the audio from a live training we did on Crowdcast last week. If last week found our protagonist wallowing alone at the local watering hole, this one may tell us what drove him there, as indignation has yet to give way to despair, in Brooks & Dunn's 1993/1994 hit "That Ain't No Way to Go". In addition to following this lonesome-whistling train down the tracks, we'll talk about how country takes unique looks at cliched situations. Although menstrual cups have been around for decades, historically, they have been less popular compared to sanitary pads or tampons. Why is that? There are so many stigmas and taboos surrounding menstruation, including the use of menstrual cups, but two women who are on a mission to make menstrual hygiene more sustainable and accessible for everyone, are Chen Su Vien and Cheah Yivon, the co-founders of the online enterprise, the Bloody Goodshop. They join us to share more about the life-changing menstrual cups and period care products their store offers, which are both good for you, and the planet.
Two offices. Two countries. Two cultures. Charles Brecque, founder and CEO of Legislate, is leading the movement for small businesses and doing it across Europe. Legislate is a legal technology company that provides lawyer-approved contracts for small businesses that don't have big legal budgets. It's based on a knowledge graph technology (sporting a new US patent) that makes the contract data usable and searchable. And Charles maintains knowledge graph technology is the benefit that makes the difference. Most innovative technology starts with a problem that needs to be solved. Brecque felt that pain while working at Mind Foundry (artificial intelligence and automated data science) where the company was losing valuable contracts due to logjams at the legal review stage. Determining that a contract is really just a tangled set of relationships, Legislate was born out of the idea that contracts are knowledge graphs. The resulting templates are approved by lawyers and completely enforceable. How Brecque obtained initial angel funding in 2020 as a first-time founder during a pandemic is a fascinating story of determination, steadfast belief and ingenuity that will inspire and impress. As a founder with little leadership experience, Brecque quickly recognized the value of mentors, investors and fellow CEOs in learning by doing. His growing confidence has helped to create credibility that resulted in raising one million dollars in funding for building a proper team that now includes a development team in Spain, a chief legal officer, and an ambitious growth plan. Under Brecque's calm leadership, the only path for Legislate and its straightforward focus on small business is up. Welcome to Botched: A D&D Podcast! Due to the group's quick thinking, they are managing to stay a few steps ahead of the soldiers in that area. However, the noise has brought in a new problem. A monster few have ever seen, and is more of a myth than anything else. The fungal Abomination. A giant rolling ball of bodies fused together with fungus. A roving creature of mouths and eyes, limbs made of bodies capable of moving fast enough to keep up with a speeding vehicle. According to some of the stories, not explosions, guns, nor even fire really seem to affect this creature very much. Though, occurrences are rare, not allowing for much scientific experimentation. As the group tries their best to escape the pre-existing and new threat, there are many questions remaining. Who are these soldiers? Why are they after the party? How will the party escape the Abomination? Can you ramp a reservoir? How does falling on rocks work? Tune in and find out! We now have a PO Box! Wanna send us something? The Atlanta Hawks have made it a point to get better after bowing out of the first round of the NBA playoffs. Travis Schlenk and Landry Fields have been quiet lately because their roster seems to be set. Jon Chuckery talked about the Hawks “big three,” and where they rank amongst the top teams in the NBA. Secondly, when Terry Fontenot took over as general manager for the Atlanta Falcons, he knew exactly what he was getting himself into. Fontenot has had to make some hard decisions financially, specifically when he had to trade Matt Ryan back in the spring. Jon Chuckery talked about how Fontenot isn't out of the woods yet as they head into the 2022 season. Lastly, the Georgia Bulldogs are the reigning national champions. But it all started some time ago when they decided to fire longtime head coach Mark Richt and bring in Kirby Smart. Jon Chuckery talked about that decision and came to the conclusion that he was wrong about the Bainbridge native. Also, Chuckery gives Georgia the credit they deserve.
