Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Tricia: Hi Dr Cabral - I recently discovered your show about a year ago and I'm so glad I did! You are a wealth of knowledge and I appreciate you helping the community. I'm a 55 year old female diagnosed with spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis and degenerative disc disease since 2017. Basically, I'm in and out of pain a lot. I stay in physical therapy and try to stay as active as possible. I hate taking OTC pain medicines but at time Aleve is the only thing that will get me through. My question is what do you think about taking NAC supplementation to assist my liver. Any advice is appreciated. I eat a very clean whole food based diet to assist with inflammation. I haven't tried your detox yet but have a 21 day supply. I take many of your vitamins. I love them! Thank you in advance. Rachel: Dr. Cabral, NO ONE talks about women with “lean” PCOS… insulin resistance seems to be at the root & center of PCOS but I've been tested & do not have it… I'm around 20% body fat & very muscular. I was on the birth control pill for about 10 years, when I came off I didn't have cycle. It was then we found the follicles on my ovaries & I developed cystic acne. Since then I dialed back my exercise, fed more & after 22 months got my cycle back for the last consecutive 6 months. Do you have any insight or advice for someone in a scenario like mine? Will the follicles ever dissipate back to normal? I am 32 & so concerned about fertility for when I hopefully meet my person. What can I do to optimize… if I was your daughter would you recommend freezing my eggs at this stage, all things considered? Yvonne: Did a search for a previous podcast but didn't find anything about reversing swollen finger joint by right index knuckle. Assume this was the first of an arthritic flare which has subsided but and the swelling went down from what it was but it won't go away completely. Is there a way to return to its normal size or is the damage permanent? Anonymous: Hi Doctor Cabral! Question about a 7 month old baby. She's happy, eats & sleeps well, breast fed, just started some solids, no medical ‘interventions'. She struggles with congestion & her right eye has been irritated since birth. It's almost always watery & boogery. She was born a month early & mom had pretty severe preeclampsia, baby's oxygen was low at birth so she was on oxygen for her 1st 12 hours or so, but quickly recovered on her own. Wondering if there's something that can be done naturally for her breathing & eye. We're not sure what is causing it. Clogged tear duct? Mom & dad eat healthy & live as close to a toxin free life as humanly possible. 1st thoughts are the pets or possible mold, but she doesn't improve when they leave their home for 3-4 day trips. Thoughts? Thanks!! Sarah: Hello!!! Context - Im 28, I've done 7 day detox, HTMA, CBO, heavy metal detox, gut testing about to do hormone testing. I take your DNS, greens, omegas, zinc, b complex, magnesium, digestive enzymes. I dry brush, sauna, weight training, lots of walking, daily breath work etc. I feel like my stress is the lowest it's been and yet I still experience debilitating fatigue that can last for few days/weeks where even just walking is a struggle. Could this just be part of the 'healing' process as I know it's not linear. Is there anything else I should look at/do? Sometimes when I'm moving around going on with my day I'm fine but then when I sit down a full load of fatigue hits me. I also notice when I drink coffee/green tea I yawn alot. I've experienced this for a few years. Save your knees and shoulders from the little discomfort doing usual activities or some swelling and inflammation. If you aren't sure whether you need physical therapy, you should get a referral, just need a massage or to lay off for a few days, this is your episode. I'm no stranger to physical therapy, but I am a foreigner in seeking support for any issues I've got. Mine have all come from some acute trauma or injury. I knew it and the answer was obvious, maybe for you too — to save your knees and shoulders without surgery! My Guest: Dr. David Middaugh is a specialist physical therapist who helps people avoid unnecessary surgery while getting back to being healthy, active, and mobile. He coaches people online and has a clinic where people are treated in person. His contrarian treatment approaches are focused on addressing the root cause of problems like arthritis and tendon tears so that people have the most control over their health. Questions We Answer in This Episode: [00:10:58] What makes you different from other physical therapists? [00:14:12] Is it actually possible to heal osteoarthritis without surgery? [00:20:28] What is unique about how you help people with knee pain? [00:37:30] What about people with shoulder pain? What is Manual Physical Therapy? Hands-on body work to manipulate the soft tissues like your muscles, tendons, ligaments tend to be pretty good at moving the joints. Fixing the root problem of knee and shoulder pain issues through movement. Focused on fascia techniques and fascia related treatments. What Really Works to Save Your Knees and Shoulders? Knees What to work on? Glutes. If you have weakness in the glutes, that's when the quads get over dominant. The Science: Quads have been overused causing knee arthritis or meniscus tear. What to do? Do your exercises primarily with your glutes. Your hamstrings and quads will still work – they just need to work secondary. Can you figure out how to make your glutes contract apart from your thigh muscles? It's more gaining mental control over your muscles. Stop walking. Turn on your glutes first. Shoulders What to work on? Upper traps (trapezius). If you have weak traps, there is more stress and tension holding the weight of the arm, shoulders and maybe chest.. The Science: Rotator Cuff tears are one of the biggest problems because of weak upper traps. What to do? Shrug every time you reach up to use your traps. This preserves your ball and socket joint. If you don't shrug, the socket faces outwards and compresses tissues. Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Kellie: Hi Dr. Cabral! I have been with your program for almost 6 months now. I have completed the Vit-Tox tests and have gone through the FM Detox twice and now going through the CBO Protocol. I just turned 38 years old and I feel like my joints are of an 80 year old. I have played soccer since age 5 and still play on a competitive coed league to this day. I have played many other team/contact sports in the past. I have had past ankle, knee, and hip injuries due to sports and I do see possible knee and hip replacements in my future. When I do my daily workouts or go up/down stairs my ankles, knees, hips, and back crack or pop so easily and so much. I don't see glucosamine chondroitin as a supplement in your shop. Are there any suggestions you may have to keep my joints healthier? Thank you!! Jon: Hey Dr Cabral, looking for advice and i feel like there's a population that struggles with this same topic. My Dr is recommending a statin due to my high LDL-C of 230. My LDL has gone up after cleaning up my diet in the last 7 months however ALL of my markers tested for have improved. Triglycerides have gone from over 200 to 100, HDL is up to 60, VLDL has dropped from 30 to 15, A1C is 5.2, blood pressure is normal for the first time ever, and so onr. My personal opinion is that i'm healthier than ever and i can't imagine having to go on what seems like a lifetime drug due to one marker being off and i don't buy the story that LDL alone is a concern for me. Curious on your opinion here and if you think i have something to worry about. Thanks!! Annette: I've been diagnosed with nephrocalcinosis by conventional doctors who say the cause is genetic. I have adjusted my diet to low sodium, low oxalate foods. The doctors say my next step is to try to get on the kidney transplant list before I need dialysis. I take potassium citrate and a calcitriol. Is there anything I can do to improve my kidney function? Summer: Hi Dr. Cabral! I heard you say that it's best to replace aluminum cookware, but not necessary, and instead to use parchment paper as a barrier. Doesn't the aluminum off gas when heated? How does parchment paper prevent the aluminum from getting into the food? Thanks! By the way, to all my fellow listeners: please contact your state representatives and let them know you do not consent to geo-engineering in your skies. Several states have now banned it. We could all live healthier lives if we could work toward eliminating toxins and heavy metals including aluminum that are regularly being sprayed into our air. Ann: Thank you Dr Cabral- you are changing SO many lives - thank you for all of your wisdom and teachings:) I have a question about Magnesium. My cortisol was high at my last lab test, and I took Full Spectrum magnesium for 12 weeks, and now I take Cal Mag daily. I also understand that I can take Calming Magnesium and CBD at night to help with sleep.I don't want to take too much for too long for my body, but I still think I need the help for my cortisol levels/ sleep. What combination of the above do you recommend? Is there a length of time that is too long to be on Full Spectrum Magnesium? PS. I do the 3-2-1 protocol, take Adrenal Soothe and will be repeating my big 5 this fall. Thank you again! Maintaining healthy joints in young horses lays the groundwork for long-term soundness and performance. Proper nutrition supports optimal skeletal health and development, while age-appropriate conditioning helps build a resilient musculoskeletal system. Regular checkups give your veterinarian a chance to diagnose and treat joint disease early, helping slow the progression of osteoarthritis and minimize associated pain. During this Ask TheHorse Live podcast, an equine surgeon answers listener questions about young horse joint care. This podcast is brought to you by Dechra. About the Expert: Charlotte Barton, BVetMed, MS, Dipl. For most of the second half of 20th century, the Supreme Court has wrestled with finding a balance between the Free Exercise of religion and the Establishment Clause, offering several tests to test the limits of permissible accommodation without the undue appearance of government endorsement. Among those tests has been a little-thing called the “play in the joints,” famously introduced in Walz v. Tax Commissioner of New York (1970). In this episode, I explore this concept with Falco Anthony Muscante II, whose paper in the Ave Marie Law Review is called “Play in the Joints” Among the Religion Clauses: Rebuilding the Strong Joints the Framers Formed. In our conversation, we discuss the history of the religious clause and what the framers intended, how the concept emerged and became weaponized in Locke v. Davey (2003), why the Court has latched on to the idea of state neutrality and how that impacts religion, and more. Falco Anthony Muscante II earned his J.D. in 2023 from the Duquesne University School of Law, where he served on the executive boards for the Law Review and Appellate Moot Court Board. He is an alumnus of Grove City College, where he graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. Management, minor in Pre-Law, and concentration in Human Resources. Falco is a litigation associate at a big law firm in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, soon headed to clerk for the Third Circuit. Cross & Gavel is a production of CHRISTIAN LEGAL SOCIETY. The episode was produced by Josh Deng, with music from Vexento

Barefoot Expo May 16-17 2025This Episode's Show NotesJoin Our Newsletter: Movement Colored GlassesKaty's Virtual Studio - Try it Free for 7 Days! This is the first of two episodes on bone. There is lots of discussion in the media about bone health and in this first episode biomechanist Katy Bowman and biologist Jeannette Loram place bone tissue health into a wider context; what really matters is how well the entire skeleton is working—as a system—to support our bodies and our movement. Katy and Jeannette explain how the status of the bone in different parts of your skeleton is a record of the movement you have—and have not done—in the past. They outline Wolff's law, the idea that bone adapts and changes according to the stress and load it experiences throughout a lifetime. They bring this concept to life using examples from populations with distinct movement and bone loading histories ranging from ancient human archers and farmers, through different sporting populations to astronauts. Can joint replacements reduce pain, help you move more - and live longer? In this week's podcast episode, we explore the untold benefits of hip and knee replacements beyond pain relief. Dr Tim Lindsay, clinician and researcher at Imperial College London, joins us to share insights from large-scale studies that show how joint replacement can restore physical activity levels and potentially reduce premature mortality. We also discuss why recovery takes time, how expectations should be managed, and what patients can realistically achieve after surgery. If you're considering joint replacement or supporting someone who is, this conversation offers evidence-based clarity and hope.RESOURCESARTICLESDevice-Measured Physical Activity in 3506 Individuals with Knee or Hip Arthroplasty: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38109175Wearable device measured physical activity and future health risk: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-020-1012-3 CONNECT WITH USTwitter: @ProfDavidHunter @jointactionorgInstagram: @osteoarthritisresearchgroupEmail: osteoarthritis.research@sydney.edu.auWebsite: www.jointaction.info/podcast Hosted on Acast. Barefoot Expo May 16-17 2025This Episode's Show NotesJoin Our Newsletter: Movement Colored GlassesKaty's Virtual Studio - Try it Free for 7 Days!Inspired by a listener's letter, biomechanist Katy Bowman and biologist Jeannette Loram talk about exercise and sport and how these relate to natural movement. They discuss how Katy's message has sometimes been reduced to exercise is ‘bad' and natural movement is ‘better'.Katy explains that this has never been her position; rather her aim has been to challenge the assumption that the only way to move our bodies is through exercise. Her work has been to expand our framework of human movement and provide a broader understanding of the shapes and volumes of movement required for human health. Katy and Jeannette also address issues raised in the listener's letter about gym culture and sports, noting that many of the negatives are perceived rather than actual or are to do with commercialization. They discuss the ubiquity of team sports across human cultures and the many positives that sport can provide, including natural movements—like throwing and catching—that are hard to get elsewhere in life. Also in this episode Katy interviews Anna Yona, co-founder of the barefoot shoe company Wildling. Anna shares the origin story of Wildling and their expansion from children's shoes into the adult market. Katy and Anna talk about favourite customer stories, teenage shoe choices and Wildling's most recent venture—a rain boot—filling a much needed niche in the minimal shoe market. Dr. Fiona Lovely is a longevity, health and wellness expert with specialties in menopause medicine, functional neurology and functional medicine. She is speaking to the topics of women's health around perimenopause and menopause. Why is it that we so often find ourselves achey, sore, stiff all of the sudden in our forties? This seems to get worse as we move through menopause - we lose muscle, bone density and flexibility. It makes us think of our loved ones - the elder females who might have broken a hip, lack strength and thus, their independance. Not on my watch, I say! Katy also has a conversation with Karri Bowen-Poole, founder of Smart Playrooms and one of the Move Your DNA sponsors. Smart Playrooms offer equipment and design services for indoor play and activity spaces.
