Jumping onto 2CC today is Joshua R. Pangborn, the filmmaker who's behind the award-winning NYC-based production company Sidekick Productions. Queer, fat-positive, and sex-positive storytelling is what Joshua and Sidekick focus on through web series like Skeleton Crew and Demon Doctor. Same goes for the upcoming horror-comedy movie A Taste of Youth and the upcoming horror-comedy anthology Brooklyn Butcher. On top of hearing Joshua chat all about that, he reveals his appreciation for the art of drag, his favorite theater stars, his love for films like Reefer Madness and Whiplash, and more. State of the Arts Episode 16! My guest this week is award-winning online show producer/actor/director/writer Joshua R. Pangborn who is a dear friend and former classmate of mine from my alma mater, Manhattanville College. With a Bachelors of Arts from Manhattanville, a Doctorate in Literature from St. John's University and a great deal of experience in theatre, Josh founded Sidekick Productions. This online productions company (that has over 5,000 subscribers on Youtube) produces plus size-positive, LGBTQ-focused shows that addresses many important social issues with a daring comedic touch. Their bevy of productions include the wildly comical Skeleton Crew, the morbidly fascinating Demon Doctor and their newest clever installment, The Art of Blowing It. Skeleton Crew has eight nominations and three awards including the Côte d'Azur Web Fest Award. Demon Doctor has thirty-one nominations and fourteen awards including Best Comedy at the British Web Fest. A gifted, mutli-talented cast and crew makes Sidekick Productions run like a well-oiled machine. Despite all the success, Josh is still is as down-to-earth and fun as he was back in our college years. It was a privilege to have him on my podcast!

Body Positivity is here to stay with this award-winning filmmaker behind and in front of the camera. Joshua R Pangborn joins his friend Ashley Monique Menard for a chat about growing up a weird, smart gay kid into calling his own shots now. The two talk about how Queer as Folk broke new grounds and Modern Family was a bit complacent in Queer Stories. The creator of the LGBTQ hit Skeleton Crew & Demon Doctor shares his struggles to help you face your fears to give birth to your dreams. Joshua R. Pangborn is the creator of two award-winning web series, Skeleton Crew and Demon Doctor, and the founder of SideKick Productions, a body-positive LGBT Production company. A writer, actor, and director, Joshua loves to blend genre and tone to create and tell unique and unusual stories. Knowledge and learning are also important to him; he holds a doctorate in English Literature and has spent many years teaching students on subjects ranging from Shakespeare to Watchmen. He has even been published in a collection of essays on the topic of Robin. Joshua is grateful he is so fortunate to work with the amazing team he has at SideKick Productions, and he looks forward to a lifetime of working with them to share stories with the world.  https://www.youtube.com/user/SidekickProd https://www.sidekickproductionsny.com/ https://www.instagram.com/sidekickproductions/ https://twitter.com/sidekickprod --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/effyourfears/support
