Can Peyton make it a perfect finish? In the NBA the Cavs lead the East from the Raptors whose winning streak is still going – 11 straight now – while in the West, the Warriors lead from the Spurs; in the NHL Washington lead the East from Florida; Chicago lead the West from Dallas – pretty much the same as last week; this year's All-Star Game, when they weren't trying to sabotage John Scott's moment in the sun, the League decide to set up a little two round tournament in which the four divisions played each other in a semi final and then a final; the Mancave app competition has its second winner, download and get involved to win goodies; loads of Mancave Mailbag goodness and Dan comes up with a belter of a game. We examine perhaps the most important piece of the complex puzzle of the Hartman case: what Sophie wrote about it in her journals.  We're joined by Dr. James Hamilton, an MBP expert with a PhD in clinical psychology, to walk us through some of Sophie's most chilling journal entries collected in the case files. We also look at Sophie's disturbing internet search history during the time of C's alleged Central precocious puberty (CPP) diagnosis.  After being separated from Sophie, M and C are placed with Sophie's mom and sister. Detective Lee discusses the problems that arise when placing children with people that are most likely going to side with the perpetrator. In April of 2022, C and M are returned to Sophie and criminal charges are subsequently dropped. You might know Mark Blundell as a Formula 1 driver, or a TV personality, but he's also the founder of MBP, a sports talent agency that works across sponsorship, talent management, brands and events. Some of the worst kinds of abuse happen right in front of us—often hidden behind love, care, and even medicine. Kids Abused By Parents To The Extreme, Medically. He is an Accidental Expert in Investigating Munchausen by Proxy. Detective Michael Weber's journey into MBP investigations began unintentionally. During the latter part of his career, he was assigned to child abuse cases, including those related to MBP. Over the years, Weber has investigated more than 50 medical abuse cases, leading to 13 convictions, with several more pending trial. His work has earned him national recognition and allowed him to contribute extensively to professional publications, guidelines. The relationship between parent and child is often thought of as one of the most fundamental bonds, built on trust, protection, and love. Named after Baron Munchausen, an 18th-century nobleman known for exaggerating his adventures, MBP was first identified as a form of child abuse decades ago. In these cases, a parent or caregiver may fake or even induce symptoms in their child to keep them in a constant cycle of medical treatment, capturing the attention of doctors, family, and the community. As a new parent, you feel like “oh, my gosh, I must be going crazy” or……maybe the doctors don't even understand what is going on.New parents do not know what to expect. There is a lot of self-doubt and questioning even in the best of circumstances. Parents of kiddos with rare diseases are faced with an added wave of unexpected symptoms and problems with their children. Naturally, they expect that the healthcare system will help them. But when a young patient keeps showing up with a variety of unexplained symptoms, that very healthcare system starts to struggle. Physicians and other providers are trained to recognize and diagnosis diseases. They are taught that they are experts upon whom patients and families rely. When they don't have answers, they too can feel vulnerable.In some instances, those doctors begin to question the parents and their motives. There is even a diagnosis for this, Munchausen By Proxy (MBP). The problem is that the signs of MBP and just being a good parent of a rare child look very much the same.Donna Sullivan shares about her traumatic experience of being suspected of imagining her two kids' illnesses. Her relentless advocacy was costing her credibility.Sadly, this situation is more common than it should be. After three years at Lousiville University, Tyeler Hawkins decided he needed a change. It was either stop playing baseball altogether or transfer to a new school, hoping for a fresh start. He chose to attend an HBCU, Southern University, in the SWAC conference. That decision turned out to be a perfect one for Tyeler. He rediscovered his love for the game and started to have fun again. He called his final college baseball season the most fun he's ever had playing the game. Tyeler batted a team-leading 368 with 9 HR and 48 RBIs. His Southern team played in the Cactus Jack Invitational at Minute Maid Park, the Andre Dawson Classic on National TV, and the SWAC tournament: they even upset the defending National Champions LSU Tigers on the road. Tyeler was selected to play in the MBP all-star game and the upcoming MLB/HBCU Swingman Classic.
