Jim McNeish and Kirsty Mac reflect on Episode 1a where their friends talked about the issues of COVID and what makes it difficult to talk about.  Jim and Kirsty explore listening and their own difficulties hearing people in a debate. Government authority, balancing medical and natural solutions, impact on mental health and the systemic damage of over-polarisation are all explored.     A new way of Podcasting Reflecting on a group conversation and observing how we genuinely talk to one another and the issues it causes, when the conversation is tense, is a new approach for Kirsty and Jim.  It is pretty experimental and they would love to hear what you think would make the podcasts even more useful.     Jim and Kirsty are leadership consultants running their own consultancies and partnering in the podcast and other ventures.   Www.neish.co Www.kirstymac.co.uk   Connect through their websites or Linked in or Twitter – always up for a blether.

Jim McNeish and Kirsty Mac return with a new series of Podcasts: How do we talk about...?  The world seems to be polarising more than ever: left and right, men and women, nationalism and federalism, science and religion.  Increasingly people are assessing one another's position before entering into conversation.  How do we get back to listening to one another? In the first episode we have invited 6 friends to look at the issues dividing us over Covid.  From people who have lost family, who have front line NHS partners, and who nearly died from the disease, we hear the varied views on vaccination, the economy, government and mental health.   Jim and Kirsty are leadership consultants running their own consultancies and partnering in the podcast and other ventures.   Www.neish.co Www.kirstymac.co.uk Connect through their websites or Linked in or Twitter.  We are always up for a conversation.

Season 4, Episode 3: Fragmentation Jim and Kirsty explore another key theme, established during their time-travelling expedition to the future: fragmentation.  Loooking “back” over 2021 they noticed a high level of nationalism, individualism and separatism that seemed to be affecting most countries around the world and the tone of social media.    There is obvious worry about the world breaking apart, especially when it is a global effort that is needed to tackle climate change, wealth disparity and social issues (inclusion, prejudice and disease.)  But in true Kirsty and Jim style, the duo turn the arguments on their heads and ask where fragmentation might be a useful first step in leading to cohesion and greater collectivism.    In a parallel exploration, they address fragmentation in IT, Psychology and medicine.  These insights add to an overall story about why humans feel the need to break things down and what good might come out of it.   Poems and reflections shared in this podcast are that of (the iconic) Emily Dickinson and the (provocative) Doug Barr.   Jim and Kirsty are leadership consultants running their own consultancies and partnering in the podcast and other ventures.   Jim McNeish and Kirsty Mac continue with season 4 of their podcast Leaders, What Now? Started during the pandemic of 2020 the conversations have been about what is required of leaders and all humans as we navigate through the  complexities of working from home (if this privilege exists to you),  leading teams remotely, dealing with emotion and the conversations we need to have now, and in the future.  Jim and Kirsty, both hailing from Scotland have a relaxed style and a Scottish humour and  share their views, thoughts and feelings through their chats by the virtual fire with their mugs of tea and coffee.       Www.neish.co Www.kirstymac.co.uk     Connect through their websites or Linked in or Twitter – always up for a blether.   Poetry from:   https://thelastwhy.ca/poems https://poets.org

Episode 2Jim and Kirsty have returned from their time travelling experience (check out episode 1 of season 4 for an explanation of that!) and discussing some of the themes that stood out for them in the navigation of 2021.Feminine Leadership is our theme for this podcast. With the whole pandemic shining a light we are seeing emergent themes on both positive and negative sides – multiple instances of female leaders shining in their handling of Covid and we see the diversity gap widening (if we take a gender based lens) where there are clear statistics demonstrating more females are leaving their jobs due to family strains on childcare. We see opportunity tinged with a decline. The discussion is reflective and provocative and discusses the fact that it is ok to ask questions. Poems and reflections shared in this podcast are that of (the wonderful) Amanda Gorman and (soulful) Nic Askew . Jim and Kirsty are leadership consultants running their own consultancies and partnering in the podcast and other ventures. Jim McNeish and Kirsty Mac return for season 4 of their podcast Leaders, what now?
