In Genesis 26:12-33 Isaac faces conflict in the Promised Land. Though he has received the blessings of his father Abraham he still suffers in this life. What are we to think about this? God tells him twice in this chapter that He is with Isaac, and this is something we are to remember as well: God is with us when we suffer.

More than PLACE, it's a matter of STATE! God wants ALL to hold PLACE in Heaven now and forever more. Definition is important, even greater one's right to a Land of Promise beyond any measure of definition in Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit. On this week's show, an investigation into land, money and power that has gripped the Piapot First Nation in Saskatchewan. For decades, a small group of band members has been leasing huge swaths of land owned by the community and personally pocketing millions in rental fees When a new band council decided to fix the issue, there was a pushback that included threats and confrontations with farmers. In his documentary, Land of Promise, investigative journalist Geoff Leo traces this complex story back to 1992. That's when federal and provincial governments laid the groundwork for this situation with a land deal they thought would correct an injustice done to First Nations — which lead instead to accusations of injustice amongst band members themselves.Reported by Geoff Leo, produced by Joan Webber and story edited by Liz Hoath. In this 140th reading of our 3-year Torah Reading Cycle, the Most High instills in us our responsibility to adhere to the governmental structure He put in place for the Kingdom. Here we learn how the needs of the Levitical Priests were taken care of; the prohibitions against our adopting the religious pagan practices and ways of the nations we were dispossessing; how to discern and treat supposed prophets who claimed to be of God; a reiteration of the establishment of the Cities of Refuge once we settled in the Land of Promise; and the security that comes in knowing that our God will fight for us when we are obediently operating in His Will and Purpose.

We refer to the land Israel was to possess as the "land of promise." It was not the "land of the conquered" or the "land of the defeated." It is territory that is given to Israel by the covenantal grace of God. It's true that Israel would have to fight for it - but ultimately it is given by God; God who rules over every nation and territory. God alone raises nations and brings them low. Israel could not boast of military might or skill. Every nation must acknowledge God, who is King over all. Renewing the Covenant: A married couple may renew their wedding vows. The renewal is not a rejection of the first vows, but a refreshed commitment in a new time and place, perhaps with deeper devotion. Deuteronomy is a renewal of God's covenant with Israel. In this series, Dr. John teaches about that renewal from the first four chapters. Perhaps it is time for us to renew our own commitment to Jesus.
