Grab a bottle of Courvoisier and some "quiet storm" music because Leon Phelps, the Ladies' Man is in the house! Well, ok, it's actually Tim Meadows, the talent behind Leon who became an SNL favorite throughout the 1990s and who has built a solid career as a comic actor ever since. A product of Michigan, Tim learned improve there and at the Second City in Chicago where Lorne Michaels discovered him and added him to a strong cast. When Tim left he was (at that time) the longest serving SNL cast member and he turned that into a busy schedule of movie and TV appearances including Mean Girls, Inside Amy Schumer, The Goldbergs, and more. As always find extra clips below and thanks for sharing our shows! Want more Tim Meadows? Tim's SNL breakout character was the always smooth Leon Phelps -- here's a full sketch. https://youtu.be/UNVn-Rpl7DI?si=MqezkJyagXSWYlNY Tim provided SNL with a lot of impersonations over the years, but perhaps none more pointed than his take on OJ Simpson lawyer Johnnie Cochran. https://www.reddit.com/.../tim_meadows_hilarious.../... Tim had a key role in the 2004 hit Mean Girls playing a beleaguered high school principal -- here dressing down a gymnasium full of students for circulating a "burn book". https://youtu.be/GGGBbxXgFug?si=4499G0KGo0wPOJP0 Tim can still bring the sketch comedy as a recent appearance on Stephen Colbert's Late Show demonstrates. https://youtu.be/YT1uE5x4zNw?si=Pu2rDACaLS5JpaRm
Remember in the late 90's/Early 2000's where SNL made three feature films based on regular sketches that they'd have on the show? The 2000's were weird. Tim Meadows stars as Leon Phelps in his quest to find his "sweet thang" in a movie that might actually be better than you remember. Will Leon Phelps find his true love? Why is there a shockingly great musical number in this movie? Why is Billy Dee Williams the narrator? Check out my review of The Ladies Man! Who ordered a Leon Phelps movie? What, nobody? Oh, well they made one anyway. And we watched it. It's called The Ladies Man starring SNL alum Tim Meadows reprising his classic recurring character. Why did he need a backstory? Why did he need a love interest? This movie focuses on plot one scene and nonsense the next. Also featuring SNL alums Will Ferrell, Chris Parnell and Mark McKinney.Download Here

Let’s spend “A Night at the Roxbury” to wrap up this season of SNL inspired films. This final installment follows human bobble heads Steve and Doug Butabi, played by Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan, through a series of poorly constructed and ultimately confusing series of events that culminates with the films credits. In short, it’s not a very good movie. But we had a lot of fun discussing the misadventures of these two dry humping, night clubbing brothers. There are M. Emmet Walsh impressions, rampant love for Molly Shannon, and the (welcome) return of Leon Phelps, who has plenty to say about these two dimwits. As always, we thank you for checking out the show!
