For years, MBA applicants have asked some version of the same question: "What job will I get after graduation?" It's understandable. Recruiting is a visible and important part of the MBA experience. But after decades working with business school graduates, Stacy Blackman has noticed something more interesting: the most meaningful MBA outcomes rarely follow a straight line. That's the premise behind Paths Less Traveled, a new B-Schooled podcast series launching this week. Each episode features conversations with MBA alumni whose careers evolved in unexpected directions over time. These aren't "first job after school" stories. They're about optionality, reinvention, and what happens when you treat the MBA as a long-term foundation rather than a short-term placement service. The series kicks off with Paul Earle, a Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management alum and Stacy's former classmate, who went on to found one of the fastest-growing emerging consumer brands in the U.S. His company, GOODLES, reimagines mac and cheese as a better-for-you product, and his current obsession is the Thrilled Cheese variety. But the conversation goes deeper than product launches. Paul reflects on what business school actually gave him: "I barely remember the technical classroom frameworks and methods and models. I vividly remember the friends I made and perspectives I gained and world I discovered. One of the best things I have ever done." It's a perspective that reframes what ROI on an MBA can actually look like, and one that applicants don't always encounter early in the process. If you've been thinking about the MBA primarily in terms of your first post-graduation role, this series is worth your time.
What's up everyone! This week I'm sitting down with Chris Burandt—yeah, THE Chris Burandt. X Games gold medalist, backcountry snowmobile legend, and someone I've looked up to since the original Schooled videos dropped. If you grew up watching extreme snowmobiling, you know exactly who this guy is. But what a lot of people don't know is that Chris is also a serious elk hunter who's been chasing bulls with a bow for over 25 years. This conversation is incredible because we dive deep into what it takes to master a craft—whether that's throwing backflips at X Games or stalking a giant public land bull for 20 straight days. Chris breaks down his journey from hating hunting as a kid (sitting in the cold while his dad napped) to becoming obsessed with bowhunting after reading Cam Hanes' book and having his mind blown on his very first day in the woods. We talk about the parallels between high-level snowmobiling and elk hunting, why both require you to get comfortable being uncomfortable, and how Chris's ability to read terrain from a snowmobile gives him a massive advantage when hunting big country. He also gets brutally honest about the mistakes he's made—including missing a giant bull at 46 yards after spending an entire season prepping for that exact moment, and what he learned from it. One of the most fascinating parts of this episode is Chris talking about spending 20 days hunting ONE bull on public land in Colorado without making a single call until the moment he shot. We break down the chess match, the patience required, and whether he should've been more aggressive. This is a masterclass in strategic hunting, mental preparation, and the sacrifice required to be a true 10-percenter. If you want to hear from someone who's mastered pressure situations at the highest level and is now applying that same intensity to archery elk hunting, this episode is for you. Chris is real, humble, and just getting started in this game—and that makes his perspective incredibly valuable. Sponsors Tricer - I run Tricer gear, and for good reason. Tactics breakdown 1:06:15 - Advice for new bowhunters and closing thoughts Three Key Takeaways Guiding for Experience is Underrated - Chris gave up three of his own hunting seasons to guide on private land, not for the money, but for the reps. Being around elk every single day, getting multiple "at bats" in a season instead of hoping for one opportunity on public land, accelerated his learning curve by years. If you want to get better fast, find ways to be around elk as much as possible—even if it means helping friends on their hunts or volunteering to pack out. Control the Controllables, Then Trust the Process - Chris went all-in preparing for his 2023 dream tag—quit drinking, worked out every day, scouted relentlessly, dialed his gear—but he neglected shooting practice. He had a 46-yard shot on a giant bull and missed because he split the wrong pins. His lesson: You can do 99% of it right and still fail if you don't master the fundamentals. Shooting your bow consistently, year-round, is non-negotiable if you want to capitalize when the moment comes. Reading Terrain Like a Snowmobiler Gives You a Massive Edge - Chris's ability to see mountains on a macro level (from snowmobiling hundreds of miles and connecting drainages) gives him a huge advantage over hunters who think micro. Most hunters pick a trailhead and hunt one drainage. Elite hunters understand how the entire mountain system works—where elk can move between basins, what routes they'll take, and how to cut them off. If you want to be a 10-percenter, stop thinking small and start hunting the whole mountain.
Woody Cooper stood in the loud mob the day Dorothy Counts, a Black girl, enrolled in his all-White high school in North Carolina. Taunting her, some boys yelled racial slurs and threw trash at Dorothy, but Woody didn’t rebuke them, even staying silent when a woman cried out, “Spit on her, girls!” He later asked himself, Why didn’t you at least say something? She was just another student coming to school. Haunted for decades by his sin of omission, especially after seeing himself in a news photo from that day, Woody finally reached out to Dorothy 49 years later to apologize. As Woody learned, showing love and support for another human being isn’t just being brave, it’s also making a choice to be like Jesus. John the apostle taught this lesson to churches burdened by false teaching about Christ and His love. “We love because He first loved us,” John wrote. “Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar” (1 John 4:19-20). John recalled this great command, “Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister” (v. 21). Woody and Dorothy reflected that love as they became close friends. They spoke at churches and schools together. On the night before he died, she came to see him. “I loved him,” she said, “and I know that he loved me.” That’s the Jesus way. It can be our way too, as God brings us together in His transforming love.

In this episode, Erika explains how your social media behavior could affect your MBA candidacy — positively or negatively. She covers what admissions committees might be looking for on your online profiles and platforms that could be problematic, as well as what kinds of social media posts might actually end up strengthening your candidacy. She also explains how reviews of your social media accounts don't end once you're admitted.
A separate description for a trailer episode feels a little silly, so here's the transcript instead.--Hi, my name is Ted Fox, and I'm the author of the novels Schooled and Date Week. And for close to three years, I've been the host of this podcast, which up ‘til now has been called Working Drafts.I'll be honest with you: It's been fun. I've gotten to talk with a lot of fellow writers about their work, with a focus not so much on their finished products but more the process they go through to get there. If you've listened to all or most or even one of those episodes—thank you.Maybe the biggest takeaway has been that there's no one “right” way to write. We all have our go-to moves as well as the things that just don't work for us the way they do for others. And sometimes what works for one project doesn't work for the next.But. As I've had these conversations, I realized there is one part of my process that I carry from book to book. It might not be for everyone. But it is my best writing tip.So in January 2026, I did a solo podcast about it. And that got me thinking: What if I kept talking to other writers about the craft of writing, but specifically through the lens of asking them to share their best writing tip?I liked the idea so much I've changed the name of the show. Working Drafts is now My Best Writing Tip. It's the same feed, and new episodes will continue to published each month on the 15th.All episodes, both of the new and previous iterations of the show, are available on my website, thetedfox.com, and most places you get your podcasts.I'd say “wherever you get your podcasts,” but that's probably still not true. Information for requesting transcripts as well as more details about Ted and his books are available on his website, thetedfox.com.
In this replay of a past episode, Erika talks with Anthony Penna, a fellow SBC admissions consultant who spent 10 years with the Wharton School in Career Management and as Associate Director of Admissions for the full-time MBA program. As Anthony served on the implementation and design team for Wharton's Team Based Discussion (TBD) interview format, this episode focuses on his insight advice for MBA candidates who will be interviewing with Wharton.
Today on Stinchfield, undeniable proof that President Donald Trump has assembled the greatest cabinet in American history. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent delivered a masterclass before Congress, calmly dismantling Democrat hysteria while laying out a rock solid defense of President Trump’s America First economic agenda. Clear, confident, and in full command of the facts, Bessent showed exactly why Trump’s cabinet stands head and shoulders above anything Washington has seen before. Bessent’s testimony exposed the left’s economic illiteracy and reaffirmed why President Trump’s policies are working. Lower inflation pressure, stronger markets, and a government finally focused on growth instead of globalist fantasies. When Democrats tried to grandstand, Bessent answered with precision and authority, leaving no doubt that the Treasury is in the hands of a serious leader. We also break down President Trump’s powerful remarks at today’s National Prayer Breakfast, where he delivered an unapologetic defense of religious freedom in America. At a time when faith is under constant attack from the radical left, Trump stood firm for believers, churches, and the foundational role faith plays in this nation. We will play highlights from his speech and explain why it matters now more than ever. https://TheMaverickSystem.comhttps://GrantLovesGold.comhttps://www.EnergizedHealth.com/Granthttps://www.PatriotMobile.com/Granthttps://Twc.Health/Grant with code “Grant” for 10% offhttps://VRAInsider.com See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Could It Be Magic, the FA Cup podcast sponsored by Carling, is back with another episode as Joe Cole and Ashley Cole welcome former Liverpool, Spurs and England striker Peter Crouch into the studio. They look ahead to the FA Cup 3rd round, which is always one of the most special weekends in the footballing calendar, and this year Joe and Crouchy were the men pulling the balls out of the hat. The headline tie is Tottenham vs Aston Villa and Ashley thinks it could be a good chance for Spurs to prioritise the FA Cup and build on last season's Europa League triumph. There's a potentially tricky tie for Arsenal away at Crouchy's old club Portsmouth, and the three of them reminisce about stepping out of the old Fratton Park tunnel and seeing legendary players like Ronaldinho and Paolo Maldini do the same for AC Milan in 2008. We revisit some classic FA Cup moments from Crouchy, Joe and Ashley's storied careers, starting with one of the most famous finals of all time in 2006 when Peter was on the winning side as Liverpool beat West Ham on penalties after Steven Gerrard twice hauled them back into the game. Crouchy holds this display up as the perfect example of why he rates Gerrard as the best player he ever played with, despite lining up alongside the likes of David Beckham, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Rafael van der Vaart during his career. The lads have some fun as Joe and Crouchy delve into their autobiographies and get Ashley to guess who the out of context quotes belong to - cue stories of Inbetweeners-like mishaps, boring their parents with endless keepie-uppies and when champagne celebrations go wrong. Final Thoughts After 20 Years of MBA Advising: Part 1 This episode is bittersweet for our longtime podcast co-host, Chandler. Chandler is preparing to step away from his co-hosting responsibilities in order to care for his aging parents and launch a new venture for philanthropists. He would like to share how much he has enjoyed co-hosting and wants to say a HUGE thank you to Stacy, Erika, Yvonne, Esther, Alex and the entire SBC team for their amazing friendship and support along the way. As Chandler thought about how to frame his last podcast, he ultimately decided to take my own advice. As our loyal listeners know, Chandler has closed each of his podcasts over the past four years with the words "be authentic, be bold, and to have a solid plan". To that end, he will conclude his four years as co-host (and 20 years of advising MBA applicants) with a three-part series in which he gets very authentic and very bold in order to help you create a solid application plan. In this first of three episodes, Chandler takes a no-holds barred look at the first phase of the application process, and shares his biggest pieces of advice in each of the following categories: Planning your application (including the very best place to begin, which most people miss) Defining career goals, Addressing lower-than-desired quant scores, Quantifying your resume, Using the data forms strategically, and … a special surprise at the end of the episode he hasn't shared before.
This episode gives applicants 10 things to think about in the days before submitting their applications. This is not intended as something to listen to an hour before you submit… but it does offer incredibly useful information to think about a day or two before the application deadline. As we always say: you want an application that is authentic, bold, and that offers a clear and consistent narrative. You want this narrative to come across cohesively via all elements of your application: your essays, your resume, your recommendations, and your interviews. To help set you up for success, today we offer ten suggestions touching on the following topics: Thinking through your overall application narrative to make sure this boldly and authentically represents who you are Reviewing your essays for common typos and other errors Asking your proofreader to help you by looking for the right things Bolstering quantitative results metrics—as well as adding useful context—to your resume Following up with your recommenders Reviewing your social media footprint When to actually hit submit (and when not to)

Peter B. Cotton: When Fred the Snake and Friends Learn the Chinese Zodiac and the Great Race! This is episode 802 of Teaching Learning Leading K12, an audio podcast. Dr. Peter B. Cotton is the author and creator of an award-winning children's book series, Fred the Snake, which now consists of 10 books. He grew up in England, where the first tale was conceived long ago as a bedtime story for his then young children about how (not) to cross the road. When they had their kids, they asked what happened to “Fred-Fred”. Peter teamed up with a special illustrator (Canadian Bonnie Lemaire) and published the first book, When Fred the Snake got Squished and Mended. Before becoming a great grandfather and celebrated children's book author, he saved lives as a leading gastroenterologist. His illustrious, international, five-decade career in medicine included treating royalty and celebrity patients, teaching, writing nearly 1,000 published medical papers, penning 10 medical books, and lecturing in over 50 nations and across the United States. He has written the definitive textbook, now in its eighth edition, Cotton and Williams' Practical Gastrointestinal Endoscopy: The Fundamentals. He also recently published his memoir, The Tunnel at the End of the Light. Schooled by Quakers, he used to tag along with his dad, a doctor, on farmhouse calls. He received his pilot license and gliding certificate in his youth. He played junior tennis at Wimbledon and got to caddie for his son who twice competed at the British Golf Open. Dr. Cotton, 85, and his wife, Marion, are blessed with four children, eight grandchildren and four great grand kids. They reside near Charleston, SC, on Dewees Island, an eco-sensitive community of 72 homes, without any cars or shops. Our focus today is Peter's latest book … When Fred the Snake and Friends Learn the Chinese Zodiac and the Great Race! Awesome stories! Incredible conversation! Thanks for listening! Master violinist/vocalist/composer L. Shankar (aka Shenkar) has spent the past four decades developing a personal style that ranges from strict Indian classical music to Western instrumental pop although usually he lands somewhere in the middle. Since playing his first solo concert at the age of seven, he has gone on to accompany many of South India's leading vocalists and become a major soloist. Schooled in voice, violin, and the drums, he has composed new ragas and folk songs, and played with countless other master musicians. In the 1970s, with John McLaughlin, Zakir Hussain, Vikku Vinayakram, and Ramnad Raghavan, he co-founded the legendary Indo-jazz group Shakti. In the 1980s, he introduced a custom-made 10-string double violin capable of covering the whole range of the orchestra's string section from violin to double bass. He has collaborated with Frank Zappa and Peter Gabriel and has continued to expand the international audience for Indian music, often combining North Indian (Hindustani) and South Indian (Carnatic) styles, (Robert Browning Associates program notes, 2022). L. Shankar performs original works, in-studio.Set list: 1. Ananda Nadamadum Tillaj Sankara 2. Ganapathiye Varuvaai 3. Shamudu

Forget all that talk about education as the great equalizer. Public schools and inequality are joined at the hip. But must it be that way? We talk to the authors of a recent book called Schooled and Sorted, an eye-opening investigation into the ways sorting within schools translates into inequality in the larger world, and how to change that. And we head to Portland, Oregon for a close-up look at the most destructive sort of sorting in action, and meet some parents who are trying to do something about it. Life Lessons I'd wished I learned 20 Years Ago – Part 2: B-Schooled Episode 260 For this occasional ongoing podcast series, our host Chandler speaks with a number of corporate executives, nonprofit leaders, and wellness icons and asks the question: what life lessons do you know today you wish you'd known 20 years ago? In this episode, Chandler shares 5 pieces of wisdom that stood out – including a personal piece of advice from Stacy Blackman, our founder. Some of these lessons are narrowly focused on applying to business school. Some lessons are about making the most of the magical period of time you are actually *in* business school. And some lessons center the many years that come after… as you use what you have learned to build a life that is hopefully full of meaning, joy, and impact. Whether you are applying to business school, in business school, or working as a professional post business school – this is a very special episode not to be missed.

Gen Z just dropped some serious wisdom on all of us. Their top three restaurants blew my mind. Not because of what they picked. But because of what it reveals about what actually matters to customers. Chick-fil-A hit number one. Yeah you heard that right. Not McDonald's with tens of thousands of locations. Chick-fil-A with just 2,300 restaurants. And all the political bullshit that surrounds them didn't matter one bit. Because Gen Z gets it.Chick-fil-A at number one shows us something incredible. They have what I call checkpoint systems. Rhythms with their customers. You talk to four different people by the time you get your food. Each one focused on making your experience better. And at the end they don't say thank you. They say "My pleasure." Those two words change everything. Because it's not just transactional. It's relational. Here's what every business owner needs to understand. Politics don't pay your bills. Customers do. And customers want to feel taken care of. They want consistency. They want to know you give a shit about their experience. If you don't have a customer journey planned out. If you don't create incredible service. If you don't build the right atmosphere. If you don't treat people right. They will find someone else who does. Period. Gen Z just proved that service beats everything else. Even political opinions. Even convenience. Even price sometimes. Way to go Gen Z. You know what it means to go ALL IN on what actually matters.Connect:Connect with Rick: https://linktr.ee/mrrickjordanSubscribe & Review to ALL IN with Rick Jordan on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/RickJordanALLIN

This episode explains what they're looking for, how to differentiate yourself if you're in an over-represented demographic or industry bucket, and generally what types of themes successful applicants focus on in their essays.
