While the Atlanta Braves have won back-to-back series, the stretch of baseball to close the month of June could go a long way toward telling the tale of their season. Grant McAuley discusses the recent happenings for the Braves, who finally snapped a streak of six consecutive series losses but now face their biggest challenge -- seven games with the first-place New York Mets in a string of 13 straight games against the NL East. Buried in the division race by 13 games and lagging behind in the Wild Card standings, where Atlanta finds itself on the other side of the next four series may chart the course for the remainder of the 2025 campaign. We'll also celebrate Father's Day with a special conversation between father and son as Fred McAuley joins the show to share some baseball memories. That plus a trip around the big leagues for some of the biggest stories of the week in Major League Baseball with special guest Mike Ferrin of MLB Network Radio. From The Diamond airs live on 92-9 The Game in Atlanta on Sundays throughout baseball season. You can also subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Every episode of the show and more great Braves coverage is available at FromTheDiamond.com.

They talk about some of the big names that made and didn't make the team, should it be Jeter or A-Rod at SS, should Barry Bonds be on the team, who would be part of their pitching rotation and much more.Strange But True: An insane walk-off happens in the minor league between the Isotopes and the Reno Aces. This one is very crazyTrivia: Question from Adam Kane- Albert Pujols famously began his career with 10 consecutive seasons of 30 HR / 100 RBI / 0.300 BA, but within that stretch he had 4 consecutive seasons of 40/100/0.300. "There should be three expectations in life," MLB Network Radio host and noted baseball pundit Mike Ferrin says in a brand new episode of the Best Pocast in Baseball. "Death, taxes, and the Cardinals competing evry year. That's National League baseball." That may be the Cardinals' brand, but that is not entirely their plan this coming season. At Major League Baseball's Winter Meetings in Dallas, Ferrin joins Post-Dispatch baseball writer Derrick Goold to discuss the direction the Cardinals are shifting and how they have a long way to go and a short time to get there. This isn't just about carrying on the torch of the Cardinals Way, but turning it into a more fuel efficient electric lighter. Several years ago as a guest on BPIB, Ferrin, who hosts Power Alley on Sirius XM's MLB Network Radio, introduced this podcast's listeners to the phrase "player dev," short for player development. The conversation that followed in that episode offered a glimpse into where the Cardinals had started to go astray from the modern system and how they can now catch up. Ferrin dives into what current, successful teams do to maximize player development and how the Cardinals are not alone in their attempt to restart after a stalled stretch. Ferrin and Goold also discuss the Cardinals rising to the fifth overall pick in the upcoming MLB draft, and they conclude with a discussion about the legacy of the Paul Goldschmidt-Nolan Arenado era in St. Louis as it likely comes to an end. The two infielders and potential Hall of Famers finished first and third for the 2022 National League MVP, respectively, and they helped the team to several postseason appearances. But Goldschmidt only advanced as far as the 2019 NLCS and they never won a playoff series together as Cardinals teammates. The Best Podcast in Baseball, sponsored by Closets by Design of St. Louis, is a production of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, StlToday.com, and Derrick Goold.

The Atlanta Braves finished off a winning home stand but now face another big challenge as they hit the road against two more teams with their focus set on October. Grant McAuley recaps an eventful week for the Braves, who lost All-Star third baseman Austin Riley to a fractured right hand, the latest in a string of injuries to key players this season. Riley and manager Brian Snitker discussed this latest setback this week. Will the acquisition of Gio Urshela be enough to hold down the hot corner? Can Atlanta steer clear of any major injuries moving forward? The answer was murky after Michael Harris II was hit by a pitch on his left hand on Sunday, though he has appeared to have dodged a major malady for the moment. Brandon Gaudin of Bally Sports joins the show to size up where the Braves are, the standout work by several injury replacements, and preview the upcoming road trip which includes a stop in Minnesota and the final regular season showdown with the first place Phillies. You'll also hear from Braves reliever Pierce Johnson, who discusses the impact of losing A.J. Minter for the season, the strong work from the Atlanta bullpen this year, and the mindset of the team moving forward. Mike Ferrin of MLB Network Radio joins the show to discuss the latest in a long line of accomplishments for Shohei Ohtani, who joined the 40-40 club over the weekend, the chances of a 50-50 season, and size up some of the races in the American League. All of that and a trip around the big leagues on this edition of the show! From The Diamond airs live on 92-9 The Game in Atlanta every weekend. You can also subscribe wherever you get your podcasts.
