We are live from the Quest Diagnostics Giants training facility and MLB's trade deadline is later today. The Mets added multiple relievers and are attempting to build a great bullpen but got swept in San Diego. The Yankees won a thrilling, back-and-forth game. Boomer expects even more additions today. Gio says the Mets need to add an impact bat but he thinks the starting rotation is good enough. The baseball teams are competing to win a championship.
Hour 1 Live from Quest Diagnostics Giants training facility, Boomer & Gio discuss MLB's trade deadline. The Mets, despite adding relievers, were swept, while the Yankees won a thrilling game. Boomer expects more additions; Gio believes the Mets need an impact bat but their rotation is good. Boomer is optimistic about the Giants. Guests include Jameis Winston, who praises New Jersey/New York culture and Malik Nabers, and Russell Wilson, the new Giants starting QB, who discusses leadership and community involvement. Jerry's update covers the Yankees' win, Austin Wells' baserunning error, Anthony Volpe's HR, and trades for Austin Slater and Mets relievers Ryan Helsley and Tyler Rogers. Hour 2 Boomer and Gio were impressed by both Giants QBs. Boomer sees Russell Wilson's leadership running its course, but not before he leaves the Giants. Gio thinks Wilson's personality is simply different. Dexter Lawrence discusses his excitement for the season, stating the D-line leads the team and mentioning Abdul Carter's talent. Coach Brian Daboll talks about leading his QB room and preparing for the season, his good relationship with John Mara, and no added pressure. Daboll likes Jaxson Dart and is excited to coach Abdul Carter, also asking about Streamsong in September. Hour 3 Giants camp has a different vibe this year; while expectations are high, the team has the talent to meet them. Gio likes the Giants' roster but cautions about the tough NFC East. Free agent Jevon Holland joined Boomer & Gio, where Holland discussed the Giants' defense. Holland is Canadian, and Boomer associates him with that. Gio remembers Holland's 100-yard return of Tim Boyle's "Fail Mary" TD in the infamous Jets Black Friday game. Jerry returns with an update, and the guys are reminded of Jerry's first TV play-by-play with analyst Shaun O'Hara. In other sports news, Anthony Volpe hit a clutch HR and Jasson Dominguez made a great catch in the Yankees' win. The Mets were swept by San Diego after two big trades, and Francisco Lindor is struggling. Shohei Ohtani left his start with cramps. Jerry recapped yesterday's trades. The Hall of Fame game is tonight. Gilbert Arenas was arrested. Mad Dog sided with Boomer on Luka. Stu Feiner and Frank the Tank showed up during Boomer's Luka rant. Shannon Sharpe was fired by ESPN, and Chad Ochocinco wants the job. Hour 4 Stu Feiner and Frank the Tank join Boomer and Gio. Frank, a Dolphins fan, and Stu, optimistic about NY teams, discuss the Mets' trade deadline, the Giants' Super Bowl XLII win, and their current Giants camp visit with Eli Manning. Jerry provides an update, almost having another golf course accident. The Yankees won despite Austin Wells' baserunning error. Quinnen Williams left Jets practice with a calf injury. Boomer speculates on what's next. Deion Sanders got emotional about making a will. Boomer and Gio have better flight seats to Pebble Beach. Moment of the Day: Gio and Russell Wilson recreate Mr. Unlimited. Gio critiques Boomer and Jerry for falling into the typical training camp trap, warning them not to believe in the Giants unless they win one of their first two games. Stu is holding court with women at camp.
Live from Giants training camp, with MLB's trade deadline today. The Mets, despite adding relievers, were swept, while the Yankees won a thrilling game. Boomer anticipates more trades; Gio believes the Mets need an impact bat, but their rotation is sufficient. Boomer is optimistic about the Giants' direction. Jameis Winston, our first guest, loves the directness of New Jersey/New York culture and Italian culture. He notes his only prior knowledge of NJ was "Jersey Shore." Gio recalls Winston's first start at FSU. Winston advocates aggression, not recklessness, and believes Malik Nabers can be the NFL's best receiver. Jerry's update covers the Yankees' wild win, including Austin Wells' baserunning error and Anthony Volpe's winning HR. The Yankees traded for left-handed masher Austin Slater. The Mets were swept but acquired relievers Ryan Helsley and Tyler Rogers. In the final segment, new Giants QB Russell Wilson discusses leadership in a new locker room and community involvement. He has no regrets about his "Mr. Unlimited" video, even performing it for Gio.
Boomer and Gio discuss the Giants' optimistic camp, believing they have the talent to succeed despite a tough NFC East. Free agent Jevon Holland joins, revealing Boomer's first thought about him is his Canadian heritage, while Gio recalls Holland's 100-yard "Fail Mary" return. Holland feels the Giants' defense has strong potential. Jerry gives an update, mentioning his first TV play-by-play with analyst Shaun O'Hara. Yankees won with Volpe's HR and Dominguez's catch. Mets were swept after two big trades; Lindor is struggling. Ohtani left his start with cramps. Jerry recaps trades. The Hall of Fame game is tonight. Arenas was arrested. Mad Dog sided with Boomer on Luka. Stu Feiner and Frank the Tank appeared during Boomer's Luka rant. Shannon Sharpe was fired from ESPN, and Chad Ochocinco wants the job.
