Nate and Benjamin get into Nate's epic stop in Marfa and other highlights of his road trip across America. They go on to dissect the revival of Interview Magazine under Mel Ottenberg as typified by Julia Fox's epic first person tale of her romance with Kanye. And... this Show by Paul Chan PLUS some (maybe) racist cartoons that dweebs trade. Then Benjamin chats with one of the art and culture world's top connectors, Cultural Counsel founder Adam Abdalla to discuss his dope-assed magazine project. Orange Crush: The Journal of Art & Wrestling is an annual that looks at the world of professional wrestling through the lens of contemporary art (and vice-versa). The third issue (dropping later this month) includes and in-depth interview with Matthew Barney as well as profiles of wrestlers Mike Parrow, Thunder Rosa and Orange Cassidy among other strange and wonderful folk. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/benjamin-godsill/support

If you're a wrestling fan, you'll know that this week tends to be the most exciting one of the whole calendar – where established behemoths like WWE and smaller, independent companies alike schedule some of their most important shows. And while coronavirus means this year has been different to many others that came before it, we thought we'd embrace pro-wrestling at one of its peak times by having a look back at four guests from this unique blend of sport and entertainment who have joined us on the BBC's LGBT Sport Podcast over the years. So, over the course of this ‘Revisited' episode, you'll hear from: - Mike Parrow – one half of the ‘The End' tag-team and a stalwart of Japanese wrestling, talking about his coming out. - Anthony Bowens – the pro-wrestler and model, talking about the match that got him into wrestling. - Fred Rosser – the wrestler formerly known as ‘Darren Young', on coming out to Vince McMahon and making a little bit of history. - Brad Slayer – the British wrestler and the first out gay man to challenge for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. They all have fascinating stories to tell from their time in the wrestling business – and unique takes on what it's like to be LGBTQ+ in it as well. So, give it a listen! * Part 2 * Myron got to spend the morning of SUPER BOWL SUNDAY in a fascinating conversation with Mike Parrow. Mike proved to be extremely insightful into the pro game, having played college football before going into wrestling. But he’s stood out as a groundbreaking pioneer in pro wrestling and athletics as an openly gay man and role model. The challenges of being a LGBTQ wrestler, his amazing insight into the wrestling business and his appreciation for classic tag team wrestling make this interview something everyone should listen to. It’s presented in 2 parts due to the length, but there wasn’t a dip in the conversation long enough to find a lull to divide it up. Myron enjoyed listening to it while editing, and hopes you do too.

He's competed the world over - and made history in the process - and now, pro wrestler Mike Parrow joins the BBC LGBT Sport Podcast. He talks about his experiences of coming out in the world of pro wrestling, the reception he received, and the surprising response he had from some members of the LGBT community. And - as a disclaimer - Jack Murley loves wrestling ... so there's also talk of in-ring psychology, what makes a great match and more. It was an incredibly eventful week for WWE, but not entirely for the reasons that the company wanted it to be. Enzo Amore has been fired following the revelations that he has been accused and is under investigation for rape and kept the situation from his employers. In this era of #MeToo, this sort of thing can’t stand in wrestling. But how scared are we that this could be just the start of WWE stars, past and present, being called out for similar heinous actions? And in much lighter news, WWE celebrated the 25th anniversary of RAW! Unfortunately, people watching it from the Manhattan Center, it wasn’t nearly as entertaining. But between all of the legends and Miz winning back the Intercontinental Title, which of the hosts had fun, and who hated it? Plus, Sami Zayn picked up a major win against AJ Styles in the main event of Smackdown. Is this the signature win he needed as a heel or is this undone by taking a big loss on Sunday? All that, and we continue to be excited about the Royal Rumble and feel like the Mixed Match Challenge is still providing a ton of things to love. Main Event Every time there’s a major anniversary or occasion in WWE, it’s a safe bet that we’re going to be treated to a wealth of nostalgia. And while a little bit of that is fun, when does it cross the line? And how big of a problem is it when a young team like the Revival is destroyed by a group of older wrestlers for the purposes of a nostalgia pop? The Three Count Danielle put over Becky Lynch and Sami Zayn in the Mixed Match Challenge. Mike put over Mike Parrow's interviews on his experience as a gay wrestler. Hal put over the post-match promo in the MMC from the Miz and Asuka Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford and Mike Eagle. Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.
