The market moved sharply lower on Wednesday following heavy losses on Wall Street overnight. Analysts say investors opted to dump their holdings in panic as sentiment was hit by the big losses on U-S indexes overnight. While Wednesday was also the settlement date for January futures contracts, so selling increased, with foreign institutional investors holding more short-position contracts than long-position ones … and tech stocks remained the targets of the sell-off. DPP finalizes candidates for Chiayi County, Tainan and Kaohsiung elections The D-P-P has finalized its candidates for key mayoral positions in southern Taiwan. According to the party, it has approved Lai Jui-lung as the D-P-P's candidate for the Kaohsiung mayoral election, Tsai Yi-yu as its candidate for the post of Chiayi County magistrate, and Chen Ting-fei as its Tainan mayoral candidate,. Final approval for all three candidates was made during a meeting of the D-P-P's s Central Executive Committee. Chinese mainland authorities named two senior officials from Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party as die-hard "Taiwan independence" separatists on Wednesday and labeled a Taiwan prosecutor as an accomplice, saying that they will face lifelong legal accountability.Chen Binhua, a spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said at a news conference that Liu Shih-fang, head of Taiwan's so-called "interior affairs department", and Cheng Ying-yao, head of the island's "education department", were added to a mainland list of people accused of pushing "Taiwan independence".Chen accused Liu and Cheng of promoting separatist ideas that go against mainstream public opinion. He said that authorities had received reports from compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait calling for the two officials to be punished.The spokesman said that Liu has blatantly propagated "Taiwan independence" rhetoric and has restricted people in Taiwan who support or take part in exchanges with the mainland, including mainland-born spouses living on the island.Chen said that Cheng, who oversees the island's education policy, has brazenly peddled provocative rhetoric advocating "Taiwan independence" and has organized the compilation of "Taiwan independence" teaching materials, which he said have had a negative impact on young people in Taiwan.The spokesman criticized both officials for persistent and extreme actions aimed at dividing the country, stirring confrontation, disrupting cross-Strait exchanges and harming the interests of people on both sides.Under mainland laws, sanctions have been imposed on Liu and Cheng. They and their family members are barred from entering the mainland, as well as the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions. Organizations affiliated with them are also banned from doing business on the mainland or cooperating with mainland entities.The spokesman also announced that Chen Shu-yi, a prosecutor at Taiwan's so-called "high prosecutors office", had been listed as an accomplice to "Taiwan independence" activities, and she would be held legally responsible for life.He accused the prosecutor of fabricating cases, making false accusations and targeting people in Taiwan who support cross-Strait exchanges. He said such actions were intended to intimidate the public and create a "climate of fear".The spokesman also encouraged people from both the mainland and Taiwan to provide information and evidence related to the alleged illegal activities of those named.So far, the mainland has identified 14 individuals as die-hard "Taiwan independence" separatists, including Hsiao Bi-khim, Taiwan's deputy leader, and Koo Li-hsiung, head of the island's "defense department". It has also listed 12 people as accomplices of "Taiwan independence" secessionists."Any 'Taiwan independence' separatist who breaks the law, no matter where they are, will face all necessary measures and will be held accountable for life," the spokesman said.He also responded to a recent proposal by DPP lawmakers to amend Taiwan's law governing relations with the mainland. He said the "red line" must not be crossed, and he accused the DPP authorities of escalating tensions across the Taiwan Strait.The proposal, which reportedly has been withdrawn, sought to redefine cross-Strait relations as relations between "Taiwan and the People's Republic of China" and to remove the words "before national reunification" from the Taiwan law.Citing China's Anti-Secession Law, the spokesman said the mainland would not tolerate what it calls "de jure independence", warning that those who challenge the law will face serious consequences.

The idea is to make authentication easier and keep a record of the chain of possession of an item, particularly a luxury item, over the course of its life. The E.U. recently passed a regulation requiring all products sold starting in 2027 to have a DPP, forcing brands to start thinking about implementing this feature. The Institute of Digital Fashion is consulting with brands to help prepare for that rollout.

Northern Ireland based Plaswire, a leader in recycling solutions, has announced a groundbreaking initiative that uses blockchain, IoT and AI technology to revolutionise the recycling of wind turbine blades, unlocking a seismic opportunity for other sectors, including aerospace. Wind Turbine Blade Recycling Partnering with digital trade specialist company ubloquity, the new system sets a new global standard for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance, delivering transparent and granular traceability for Plaswire's RX polymer - a recycled composite material derived from decommissioned wind turbine blades. This marks the world's first application of blockchain to track and verify recycled polymers throughout the entire lifecycle, from blade collection to reuse. Andrew Billingsley, CEO of Plaswire, explains: "By 2035, millions of wind turbine blades installed in the 2000s and 2010s will reach the end of their 20-30 year lifespan, creating millions of tonnes of composite waste. With this new blockchain solution added to the process, the company offers its extended customer base a fully traceable, sustainable solution supporting the principles of the circular economy. Rick Atherton, Technical Project Manager at ubloquity, added: "Trust and transparency are essential if recycled materials are to be widely adopted. By implementing our digital product passport (DPP) and combining Plaswire's processing and shop floor recycling data, we can demonstrate exactly where their polymer originates and how it is reused. Lessons from Cameron-Brooks Alumni on Military to Business Transition Success Each Cameron-Brooks Career Conference represents a major career event for our JMOs. In these military to business transition successes, officers together years of military service and months, (maybe even years of preparation in the Development and Preparation Program). Then, they interview with Industry leading companies in business. Our JMOs at the August 2025 Career Conference averaged 10.3 interviews over a two-day period. Additionally, every single JMO was pursued into the follow up process. Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with my teammate Geoff Fries and three Cameron-Brooks alumni who attended the August Conference. In this episode, they share their experiences and insights pre-conference in DPP, during the conference, and during the post-conference where they earned offers, evaluated them and made a decision to launch their next career. Together, we unpacked their stories and explored what their preparation, mindset, and execution looked like resulting in their military to business transition successes. Below, I'll highlight their lessons, strategies, and mindsets - from early preparation to behavioral interviews and ultimately into final decision-making. Meet the Alumni: Three Distinct Paths to Success Before diving into strategies, here's where these three standout officers landed: Matt Dahlager, an Army Military Intelligence Captain, joined Ubicquia, a smart grid technology company that leverages sensors and AI to improve energy infrastructure. He'll serve as an Area Sales Manager for the Ohio River Valley region. Spencer Preston, a former Marine Corps officer, accepted a role as a Summit Fellow at USAA in San Antonio, Texas. He'll rotate through key leadership areas such as CEO staff, property and casualty operations, or CFO development roles. Weslee Warren, a Navy Surface Warfare Officer, joined Corning Optical Communications in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he'll work as a Technical Program Manager driving fiber-to-the-premises projects and collaborating with engineering and product teams. Building a Foundation: Start Early One of the strongest themes in our conversation was the value of time spent in DPP. On average, candidates spend about 11 months preparing through the Cameron-Brooks program. Spencer prepared for 38 months. Wes spent about one year. Matt invested nearly two years. During that time, Cameron-Brooks was able to meet them multiple times for in person and virtual preparation sessions, which allowed them to: Build Trust with Cameron-Brooks Early engagement allowed each candidate to develop a trusted relationship with the Cameron-Brooks team - vital since our team members advocate for each candidate directly with partner companies. Conduct Self-Assessment and Reflection Before they could tell their story to companies, they had to understand it themselves. This meant revisiting military experiences in order to translate their military experiences into relevant business leadership accomplishment with clear impact and results. Leadership, problem-solving, mission alignment, etc. and how that translates into private-sector value. Learn Business Skills and Apply them They didn't just study business - they applied it. By integrating recognized industry concepts that they learned in DPP such as Lean Six Sigma into their current military duties, they created concrete examples that later became powerful interview stories.  Invest in themselves Hundreds of hours of practice, reflection, and preparation went into preparation before the Conference.
